- Chapter 37.1 - I want you to remember me forever.
It had been three days, and Xian Ning was still locked in the cage.
Aside from times for eating and using the bathroom, she was practically kept like a pet. Sometimes, Qin Rong would feel playful and tease her, but most of the time, she just held her and slept quietly.
Xian Ning noticed that Qin Rong’s mental state didn’t seem to be very good. Most of the time, she would fall asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow, but her sleep was restless. She would frown and mumble in her sleep.
Xian Ning couldn’t hear what she was saying, but judging from her expression, it wasn’t a good dream.
On the fourth day of her nightmares, Qin Rong suddenly cast off her usual exhaustion and took Xian Ning to the top of Jade Purity Mountain to see the cherry blossoms.
The temperature in late May was already high, but they were both in summer clothes. The wind on the mountaintop made them shiver.
Xian Ning looked at Qin Rong, whose face was also red from the cold. She laughed. “You’re not like me. Your cultivation isn’t low. Why don’t you just use your spiritual energy to resist the cold?”
Qin Rong laughed softly. A wisp of hair blew across her face, hiding her eyes and the emotions in them.
All Xian Ning could see was her curved lips, and she guessed she was smiling.
“I want to feel it with you.”
Xian Ning stared, feeling that Qin Rong was particularly fragile today, as if she would collapse with a gust of wind. On a whim, she reached out and hugged her slender frame.
Qin Rong seemed surprised by her action at first, then a look of overwhelming joy spread across her face.
“Xian Ning, I love you.”
She hugged Xian Ning’s waist tightly, her voice urgent, as if she felt this was her last chance to say it.
Xian Ning could vaguely sense that something was wrong, but she didn’t know what it was. She hugged her back and said softly, “I know.”
“No, you don’t!” Qin Rong’s voice rose, cutting her off. Then, like a child who had made a mistake, she buried her face in Xian Ning’s shoulder. “I’m sorry, I’m not yelling at you. I just…”
She didn’t finish her sentence. After a long silence, she said in a muffled voice, “Just know that I love you.”
A gust of wind blew by, and the cherry blossoms fell like snow, enveloping the two of them in a fragrant rain of petals.
They stayed on the mountaintop for a long time. As they were about to go down, Qin Rong suddenly asked, “If I’m not around anymore, will you remember me forever?”
Xian Ning’s body stiffened. She tried to play it off lightly. “Not around? Where are you going? If you don’t watch me, I’ll run away, you know.”
Qin Rong leaned in closer and covered her eyes with her hand.
“Don’t look at me like that. I won’t be able to leave.”
Xian Ning tried to pry her hand away, but she couldn’t. Her panic rose.
“What’s going on? Qin Rong, tell me! I don’t like this.”
Qin Rong didn’t say anything. Her breathing grew closer.
A kiss, so light it was barely there, landed on her lips, like a falling petal.
When Xian Ning could see the light again, Qin Rong had already walked far away. Xian Ning quickly followed, wanting to ask for an explanation, but Qin Rong wouldn’t give her the chance.
The mountaintop was several hundred feet high. Qin Rong had used her sword to bring them up, and now she was floating in midair, leaving Xian Ning stranded on the peak.
“Say you’ll always remember and think of me, and I’ll bring you down.”
Xian Ning scoffed, calling her “childish,” then jumped without hesitation.
Qin Rong’s face instantly changed. She flew up in a panic to catch her.
They collided. Xian Ning smelled the scent of wind and snow mixed with flowers. She comfortably nestled into Qin Rong’s arms.
“I have a forgetting spell on me. I might forget what you look like one day. You have to stay by my side and remind me every day, so I’ll always remember you… and think of you.”
At this point, there was no need to deny that she loved her.
Even if she didn’t admit it, the plot was already spiraling out of control.
Qin Rong’s eyelashes trembled, her emotions shifting before she finally spoke. “It’s okay if you forget. I’m a mess anyway.”
She had forced Xian Ning, captured her, and locked her up. Even if Xian Ning said she loved her, it was only because of the circumstances, not because it was true.
But these days would end soon. When that time came, she would give Xian Ning her freedom. But before that, she would allow herself to be selfish just one more time.
Xian Ning looked up at her. The wind was too strong, making her eyes water. Her eyes felt a little sore.
What could have happened to make such a passionate person say something like that?
She wasn’t a mess. She was the best cultivator in the sect, a genius born once in a hundred years.
Xian Ning lowered her eyes, pushing back her tears. She held Qin Rong’s waist tighter.
She seemed to have lost weight again.
She didn’t know what Qin Rong had gone through while she was gone, but she had seen her get thinner over the last few days, and there was nothing she could do about it.
Unlike ordinary people, Qin Rong didn’t need food to survive. Her spiritual energy was what she relied on. But lately, she hadn’t cultivated at all. Her spiritual energy seemed to have been depleted.
Spiritual energy depletion…
Xian Ning repeated the words to herself, and something suddenly clicked.
The immortal sword landed steadily, turning into a ray of light that flew into Qin Rong’s sleeve. Xian Ning let go of her waist, and Qin Rong lost her balance, stumbling forward.
Xian Ning quickly grabbed her, and seeing the dark red in her eyes, her heart jumped. It was more frightening than jumping off the mountain.
“Qin Rong, what’s wrong with you?!”
Qin Rong leaned on her, her voice weak but still smiling. “Scared? I just wanted you to feel bad for me. Got you, didn’t I?”
She pushed Xian Ning away and smiled, shrugging, as if to prove her point.
But the more she did this, the more uneasy Xian Ning felt. She tried to ask for an explanation, but Qin Rong avoided her. Qin Rong took long strides, quickly leaving her behind.
Looking at her thin back, Xian Ning’s heart was a mix of emotions, most of them heartache. She hurried to catch up and grabbed Qin Rong’s hand, her voice serious. “Qin Rong, is it the demonic…”
“Little Senior Sister.” Qin Rong turned to look at her, the red in her pupils flickering. “Why are you so clingy today? Do you want me?”
Xian Ning was furious. She pinched Qin Rong’s hand hard. “I’m being serious! Can you stop joking around?!”
Qin Rong’s eyes deepened. She gripped Xian Ning’s hand, pulling her into an embrace and looking down at her.
Qin Rong had a pair of extremely beautiful eyes. They were phoenix eyes that turned up at the corners. When she stared at something, her expression became incredibly affectionate.
Being looked at like this almost made Xian Ning lose herself, but she still remembered what she had to do.
“Rongrong, tell me. I can handle anything as long as we face it together.”
Qin Rong smiled. She leaned down and kissed Xian Ning, her voice muffled.
“Since Senior Sister wants to so badly, it’s not like we can’t do it right here.”
Xian Ning’s eyes widened. She tried to push her away. She leaned back against a tree.
This was the back of Jade Purity Mountain. People rarely came here, but it wasn’t completely deserted. What was this little lunatic thinking?
Qin Rong held her hands above her head, deepening the kiss without any hesitation.
The rough tree bark scraped the back of her hands, but at the same time, she felt a strange sensation.
Xian Ning was confused. Did I really enjoy being treated like this?
Her chin ached. Qin Rong had left her lips and was now holding her face.
“Zoning out at a time like this?”
Xian Ning was about to say no, but Qin Rong leaned down and bit her neck. The sharp canines easily pierced her skin.
“This is your punishment for not paying attention.” Her voice was muffled, but then it became low and alluring. “Xian Ning, focus on me.”
Xian Ning could never resist this kind of tenderness. Besides, her life was in Qin Rong’s hands. How could she not focus?
This wasn’t a very secluded place. Spiritual beasts roamed around, spiritual plants communicated with each other, and the leaves rustled. Every sound made Xian Ning’s heart pound.
Feeling her nervousness, Qin Rong became even more daring.
She bit the sash on Xian Ning’s clothes, trying to undo them. The motion was so slow, as if it were in half-speed. It made the corners of Xian Ning’s eyes turn red.
“Qin Rong, you…”
Xian Ning stopped herself, listening to her own voice. It was soft and delicate, sounding more like a whine than an accusation.
She hadn’t even started, and she was already like this. What would happen once she really started?
No wonder Qin Rong always tried to get her to make sounds.
Xian Ning’s face was flushed. She bit her lip and turned her face away, not daring to look at Qin Rong.
Qin Rong bit her softly. Xian Ning gasped, and her eyes watered.
“If you’re going to… then hurry up! Don’t… torture me like this…”
We’re in broad daylight, and we’re outside! Is this even right?
Qin Rong let go of her teeth, but her lips stayed put. She continued to speak, which made Xian Ning even more miserable.
“You said no just now, and now you’re telling me to hurry up. Little Senior Sister is so duplicitous.”
Xian Ning was so angry she wanted to cry. She couldn’t move her hands, otherwise she would hold Qin Rong down and let her have her fill.
Whenever this happened, Qin Rong would become a foul-mouthed pervert, a complete contrast to her usual pure and distant image.
Even with Xian Ning’s tearful pleas, Qin Rong took her time, enjoying the game before moving on to the next step.
Xian Ning looked down. There were several hickeys on her white skin, of varying shades. The neat bite marks surrounded a small, red, swollen area.
Qin Rong let go of her hands. A lustful smile was on her lips. The red in her eyes seemed to have spread, turning into a seductive crimson line that ran from her eyes to her temples. Her phoenix eyes were even more beautiful now.
Xian Ning was mesmerized. She had never seen Qin Rong like this before.
Qin Rong’s eyes suddenly opened, and she met Xian Ning’s entranced gaze. A small smile appeared on her lips.
“Why are you looking at me like that?”
Xian Ning opened her mouth. Qin Rong kissed her, a light, chaste kiss. Then, she knelt down.
All the words in Xian Ning’s throat were swallowed. She put one hand on the tree trunk and the other over her mouth to stop herself from making a sound.
Even if there were no people, the flowers and plants could hear. It would be terrible for them to do something so absurd here.
“Hiss…”
Xian Ning whimpered in pain, noticing Qin Rong looking at her with red eyes.
“Not focused again.”
She said in a low voice and went back to what she was doing.
The intense stimulation made Xian Ning feel like she was suffocating. She didn’t care about the sounds anymore. She grabbed Qin Rong’s hair, telling her to slow down. Qin Rong, as if she couldn’t feel the pain, only sped up.
Xian Ning soon ran out of energy. She let herself be tossed around on the waves of desire, completely oblivious to the fact that the rough tree bark was scraping her back.
Her mind was ruled by a primal desire, wiping away all the pain, leaving only a crazed restlessness.
A rustling sound came from nearby. A sliver of rationality told Xian Ning that this wasn’t right. But all her weight was on Qin Rong. She couldn’t move her.
“Qin Rong, someone’s coming…”
Qin Rong didn’t even lift her head. “No one’s coming.”
At least, not here.
She had long ago cast a spell, an enchantment so powerful that even if you walked right past them, you wouldn’t notice they were there.
But she deliberately hadn’t told Xian Ning, simply for the thrill of watching her get worked up. The way her face would flush, her eyes misting with tears—it was a sight she found irresistibly tempting.
So, she’d played this little game over and over, and it worked every single time.
She knew Xian Ning was indulging her. If she had truly wanted to refuse, she wouldn’t have been able to force her. No, that wasn’t right—she would never actually force Xian Ning; she just savored the feeling of being indulged.
Qin Rong’s gaze shifted, a crimson glint in her eyes dimming as she looked down, like a stone sinking into the deep sea, vanishing without a trace.
The rustling sounds grew much closer, and Xian Ning’s panic turned into tears. She pleaded with Qin Rong, her voice a miserable little sob.
“Someone’s really coming, Rong Rong. Can we just go back and continue this later?”
Warm tears traced a path down her chin, losing their heat by the time they landed on Qin Rong’s face. She looked up at Xian Ning, her hand finding its way to the soft skin of her waist, gripping it tight.
“I set up a barrier. No one will see us. Please, don’t cry.”
It was only then that Xian Ning realized she’d been tricked. Her tears of fear turned into tears of frustration. Qin Rong, seeing her distress, quickly finished what she started, then gathered her little darling in her arms to console her.
Xian Ning still couldn’t shake the feeling of unease. Her eyes, still blurry with tears, stared at Qin Rong. “Are you really sure no one saw us?”
Just then, two spirit beasts strolled by leisurely, not sparing them a single glance.
“See?” Qin Rong said.
In her frustration, Xian Ning pinched her, but the lack of strength in her hands made it feel more like a caress. Qin Rong pulled her even closer, then heard a faint gasp.
“What’s wrong?” she asked, her voice filled with immediate concern.
Xian Ning glared at her, annoyed. “What do you think is wrong? Someone got carried away and hurt me.”
Qin Rong turned her over, revealing a patch of chafed, raw skin on her back. Her eyes filled with regret.
“I’m so sorry. I didn’t realize.”
All her previous arrogance vanished. She hung her head like a puppy that had been abandoned, and a pang of sympathy shot through Xian Ning. She couldn’t bring herself to scold her anymore and reached for her clothes.
“I forgive you. Just don’t let it happen again.”
“Let’s go back now.”
Qin Rong held her hand and leaned in to kiss the wound on her back. Each kiss was deliberate and gentle, like a devout believer.
The stinging sensation turned into a pleasant tingling, and Xian Ning’s fingers, wrapped around the tree trunk, curled up, her nails digging into the bark and filling with tiny splinters.
The kisses moved lower, and the air around them grew heavy with anticipation.
Xian Ning turned her head to look at her. “What are you trying to do now?”
“It’s not every day we get to be in such a beautiful place. It would be a waste not to enjoy it a little longer,” she whispered, her lips close to Xian Ning’s ear, her voice laced with seductive intent. “My dear, I know you like this too. Why don’t you play with me a little longer?”
Xian Ning was speechless.
Just moments ago, she’d thought Qin Rong was a little puppy and now she was a big, hungry wolf!
