- After Being Entangled By the Obsessive Heroine [Quick Wear]
- Chapter 3 - "Yingxian, I like you."
Xian Ning’s eyes widened at Xue Yingxian’s grim face, and her first instinct was to run. Before she could take a step, her wrist was yanked back.
Xue Yingxian’s grip was so tight Xian Ning felt her bones might shatter.
“Trying to run away again?!”
The words were spat out in a furious whisper, ground out between her teeth. Xian Ning knew she was in deep trouble.
She backed away one step at a time, and Xue Yingxian followed, closing in. There was no escape.
If she’d known this would happen, she wouldn’t have dared provoke Xue Yingxian that night, not even if her life depended on it.
The original owner used to constantly harass Xue Yingxian. Even though Xue Yingxian largely ignored her, she must have been a terribly annoying nuisance.
To have been slept with by your sworn enemy… that must feel worse than swallowing a fly.
Xian Ning risked a quick glance at Xue Yingxian. Sure enough, her face was dark with anger, and laced with a hint of… humiliation.
Xian Ning quickly averted her gaze and shrank her neck back like an ostrich.
Her mind raced, trying to think of something to say to appease Xue Yingxian. But before she could come up with anything, Xue Yingxian spoke.
“We need to talk!”
The words were again forced through gritted teeth. Xian Ning didn’t want to be alone with her, but she looked around and saw a crowd was already starting to gather.
She meekly followed Xue Yingxian.
She wanted to run, but a powerful, relentless hand was latched onto her arm, preventing her from escaping this beautiful, frightening world. She desperately wished Lu Han would suddenly appear and rescue her, but even when they entered the elevator, there was no sign of her sister.
After they got in, more people piled in, and the elevator became so crowded that Xian Ning and Xue Yingxian were pushed into a corner, practically pressed together.
Xian Ning didn’t dare touch Xue Yingxian. She leaned back as far as she could, her entire upper body stiff.
Xue Yingxian saw that she was avoiding her like the plague and felt a surge of irritation. Her already sour expression grew even colder.
Xian Ning stole another glance and did her best to put more distance between them.
She was right. Xue Yingxian was utterly disgusted with her.
With her neck still stiff, they reached the sixth floor. Xue Yingxian led Xian Ning to a quiet, uncrowded coffee shop.
The place was tastefully decorated, exuding a subtle, understated luxury. It was clearly not somewhere a typical person could afford to just walk into.
Xian Ning sat down, and the waiter brought over a menu. She looked at the prices and, as expected, gasped internally—she couldn’t afford it!
Xue Yingxian saw her hesitation and sneered. “Hesitating over a cup of coffee, Miss Lu?”
Xian Ning’s ears burned. The original owner had once told Xue Yingxian to her face that she was nothing but a cuckoo who had stolen someone else’s nest, and that she was the real miss of the Xue family. Now, Xue Yingxian was throwing her own words back at her.
Xian Ning gritted her teeth and ordered the most expensive thing on the menu. Xue Yingxian was the one who dragged her here, so she would have to be the one to pay for it.
After the waiter left, an awkward silence settled between them. Xian Ning huddled like a frightened rabbit, trying to blend into the air.
Xue Yingxian watched her with a deep, contemplative gaze. After a long moment, a sharp glint flashed in her eyes.
It was bad enough that this woman had seduced her into making a mistake, but to just leave her alone at the hotel like that? Unforgivable!
“What are you going to do about this?”
Xian Ning flinched and slowly raised her eyes to Xue Yingxian, completely captivated by her beauty.
She had only dared to peek at her before. Now, staring directly, she realized that even with a frown, Xue Yingxian was stunning. Her eyes were captivating.
Xue Yingxian’s features were exquisite. Her eyebrows weren’t too thick or thin and curved down slightly at the ends, softening her naturally sharp phoenix eyes. When she lowered her gaze, her thick, dark eyelashes shielded her obsidian-like eyes, making her emotions unreadable. She had a perfect, high-bridged nose and an M-shaped Cupid’s bow that many people try to achieve through surgery, but she was born with it.
Xian Ning’s gaze was far too obvious. Xue Yingxian lifted her eyelids to look at her, a hint of mockery on her lips.
“What’s your trick this time?”
Xian Ning quickly looked away, guiltily muttering, “What trick? Don’t think the worst of people.”
Xue Yingxian didn’t reply. She pulled a stack of bills from her purse and tossed them on the table in front of Xian Ning with a sharp slap.
“Then what is this? Your payment for a prostitute, or a tool to humiliate me?”
Xian Ning didn’t dare answer. She quietly gathered the bills one by one, only to notice that the amount seemed suspiciously deliberate.
It added up to exactly 520 yuan.
Xue Yingxian’s anger hadn’t subsided. Seeing Xian Ning just stare at the money made her even angrier.
Was she worth less than a few hundred yuan? What did this woman think she was? A casual fling? No, not even that. Just a convenient remedy she grabbed for a single night, and then tossed away with a few hundred yuan.
It was an utter disgrace!
The more Xue Yingxian thought about it, the angrier she got. She was barely able to control her temper.
“Say something!”
She leaned in close to Xian Ning, clenching her back teeth, clearly holding back an outburst.
Xian Ning’s voice was tiny. “But… didn’t I give you the money?”
Xue Yingxian laughed, but there was no humor in it. She reached out and gripped Xian Ning’s chin, squeezing it hard.
“Lu Xian Ning! How can a person be like you?”
“You’d use your body to humiliate me? Do you have no self-respect?”
Xian Ning didn’t know what was wrong with her. Normally, she would never be so pathetic. She’d argue her point even if she was in the wrong. But facing Xue Yingxian, her usual eloquence and sharp wit had completely vanished.
This must be the heroine’s aura.
Xian Ning took a deep breath and asked, “What do you want, then? It already happened. You won’t accept an apology, so just tell me what would satisfy you.”
“I…!” Xue Yingxian choked on her words.
For the past few days, she’d been so upset and distracted by this incident. To make matters worse, the culprit had gone into hiding. In the week since, she had come up with countless ways to punish Lu Xian Ning, but now that she was here, she realized what really angered her was the running away.
Did she want Lu Xian Ning to take responsibility for her? Xue Yingxian was shocked by the thought and quickly suppressed it.
She looked at Xian Ning coldly, her dark eyes like glittering jewels submerged in icy water—bright, but with no warmth.
“You’ll do whatever I say?”
Xian Ning was so intimidated by her gaze that she nodded reflexively. “As long as I can do it.”
Xue Yingxian stared into her eyes, and her heart gave a strange little thump. She’d never noticed before how much Lu Xian Ning resembled a rabbit. Her eyes were round and bright, and unlike her own sharp inner corners, Lu Xian Ning’s were soft and rounded, making her look a little bit naive.
Rabbits were naturally gentle animals. If she didn’t know the truth about her, she would have been completely fooled by her innocent, fragile appearance.
Whether it was a man or a woman, if Lu Xian Ning wanted to, she could attract anyone. This face was her unstoppable weapon.
Xue Yingxian looked away, afraid that if she looked any longer, she might soften.
“Admit what you did in front of both of our parents, and then get far away from me. Never show your face again.”
Xue Yingxian’s goal was simple: she wanted Xian Ning to feel the same humiliation. Lu Xian Ning bossed her family around but acted like a sweet, gentle lamb in front of the Xues. She was the perfect innocent girl in her parents’ eyes.
What she wanted to do was tear off that mask, ruin her image in front of the elders, and stop her from ever dreaming of being the Xue family’s miss again. After that, they would stay far away from each other, as if it had never happened. As for that night, she would just pretend she was bitten by a dog.
She could have any woman she wanted; what was a mere Lu Xian Ning to her?
Xian Ning thought the request was absurd. Having sex was a mutual decision, so why get their parents involved? And even if she had been drugged and deliberately seductive, wasn’t Xue Yingxian just as into it?
“Miss Xue, we were at it all night.”
Xue Yingxian’s expression shifted, and the tips of her ears quickly turned red. She stared at Xian Ning, her face darkening.
“What does that have to do with anything?”
Her tone was hostile, a clear sign she was getting angry—which Xian Ning had expected.
“I was already sober by the second half of the night, but you were the one who wouldn’t let go of me.”
Xue Yingxian’s ears grew even redder, and a blush crept up her cheeks. She was clearly infuriated.
Xian Ning didn’t give her a chance to speak, adding, “What I mean is, even though I might have been wrong at first, it takes two to tango. Let’s just pretend none of this ever happened.”
There was no way she was apologizing in front of their parents; that would be social suicide. And getting away from her? That was also out of the question. Her job was to help them resolve their misunderstandings and live a happy life. How could she do that if she left?
Xue Yingxian was speechless, her face turning from red to pale. She was about to lose control.
Xian Ning wisely stopped talking. Before she could erupt, she said, “Well, that’s that. I’ll get going now.”
Just as she stood up, her phone rang. Xian Ning picked it up and saw it was Tang Di who’s calling.
He had called once before, and she had ignored it. She didn’t know why he was calling again.
She accidentally met Xue Yingxian’s gaze, and her heart skipped a beat. Instead of hanging up, she answered the call.
Tang Di’s deliberately lowered voice came through the speaker. “Lu Xian Ning, why’d you hang up on me?”
Xian Ning swallowed and forced herself to ask, “What is it?”
“I can’t get used to eating out.”
Xian Ning immediately understood. The original owner used to try to win Tang Di over by making all sorts of delicious food, which had completely spoiled him.
Xue Yingxian let out a cold huff. Xian Ning felt a chill run down her neck and quickly hung up.
She started to move, ready to make a quick escape, but Xue Yingxian grabbed her.
“I really underestimated you, Lu Xian Ning. You’re entangled with Tang Di, and then with me…”
Xue Yingxian stopped mid-sentence, took a deep breath, and her eyes turned as dark as the deepest part of the ocean.
“Don’t you dare show your face in front of me again, or you will regret it!”
The moment she finished speaking, a system notification sounded in Xian Ning’s mind.
【Warning! The heroine’s favorability has dropped to a negative value. Please increase it to a normal value as soon as possible, or the mission will be hindered.】
Xian Ning: Shit!
Seeing Xue Yingxian about to walk away, Xian Ning grabbed her and pulled her back down into the chair.
Xue Yingxian glared at her, but Xian Ning took Xue Yingxian’s hand and placed it on her own cheek, a look of deep affection flooding her eyes with a single blink.
Xue Yingxian’s face filled with shock, and for a moment, she forgot to be angry.
Xian Ning took out the stack of bills and spread them out one by one.
“Actually, I had a reason for leaving this money for you. The total is 520 yuan. 520, which in Chinese sounds like ‘I love you.’ ”
“Yingxian, I love you.”
