- After Being Entangled By the Obsessive Heroine [Quick Wear]
- Chapter 24.2 - Wouldn't you like to do something memorable on your engagement night?
Xian Ning woke up in a hospital. The sun was warm, and the evening glow filled the sky, looking magnificent.
Xue Yingxian was dozing beside her. Her head suddenly jerked, waking her up. When she looked up and saw that Xian Ning was awake, she rushed to her bedside.
“How are you feeling?! Are you dizzy?! Do you hurt anywhere?!”
Her expression was so anxious and her voice so agitated that Xian Ning had a bad feeling. Am I dying of some incurable disease?
“Xue Yingxian, tell me the truth. Am I not going to live much longer?”
Xue Yingxian put a hand over her mouth. “Don’t say such nonsense. You’re healthier than I am. You’ll be fine for another seventy or eighty years.”
“Then why are you so agitated?” Xian Ning asked, confused.
“I was just asking if you were uncomfortable anywhere. You’ve been unconscious for a whole day.”
No wonder the sunset was so bright. She had slept until the next evening.
It was strange. Xian Ning fainted without warning, but the doctors couldn’t find anything wrong. They didn’t even prescribe any medication, only an IV of glucose.
After she woke up, a follow-up check-up showed no issues. She was in perfect health and was discharged the next afternoon.
The more Xian Ning thought about it, the more she felt something was wrong. She forcibly summoned 033.
“What’s going on?”
System 033’s mechanical voice was accompanied by a grating sound, like nails on a chalkboard. It was enough to make one’s teeth ache.
[I almost died to keep you from getting punished, and you’re still forcing me to come out.]
Xian Ning’s tone immediately became respectful.
[“Are you alright, old-timer? Would you like me to use my points to help you recover?”]
033 sounded even weaker. Your points? You still have points? Your points have been in the negative since you broke the small world.
Xian Ning picked her nose. Oh, so that’s how it is. How embarrassing.
[I’m going back into hibernation. Don’t call me even if the sky falls.]
“Wait!” Xian Ning stopped it.
“If you didn’t take the punishment for me, what would my fate have been?”
System 033 was silent for a moment.
[An incurable disease. You would die in three months. Xue Yingxian would be devastated and go crazy, and the small world would collapse.]
A cold chill ran through Xian Ning’s body. She said stiffly, “Thank you.”
[Everything is fine now. Go enjoy the small world. I’m leaving.]
And just like that, it disappeared.
Xian Ning had a strange feeling that 033 wasn’t just a system; it was a living, thinking person.
Then, she dismissed the idea. A system was just a ball of data. How could a person be a system?
After this incident, not just Mrs. Lu, but Mrs. Xue also gave her consent.
When she found out Xian Ning had fainted and was in the hospital, she was terrified. All her previous concerns didn’t matter anymore. After Xian Ning was discharged, she took her straight to her house and made her stay for a whole week.
That night, Xue Yingxian snuck into Xian Ning’s room again, hugging and kissing her, clinging to her like a puppy.
Xian Ning was used to it by now. She patted Xue Yingxian’s head, telling her to be a good girl.
“Sister…” Xue Yingxian whined.
Xian Ning pushed her face away, sternly refusing. “Begging won’t work. If you don’t behave, I’ll kick you out.”
She had been sore for a whole night. This little puppy had no self-control.
Xue Yingxian was much better behaved. She simply held Xian Ning, burying her face in her chest, and reached out to massage her waist.
After a while, she suddenly said, “Zhong Ning is going to propose to Chu Ling.”
Xian Ning was wide awake. “Zhong Ning is only eighteen. Isn’t that a bit too early to propose?”
“Someone confessed their love to Chu Ling, and Zhong Ning saw it. That little girl is afraid of losing Chu Ling and wants to tie her down.”
Thinking back on their tumultuous story, Xian Ning decided it was perfectly reasonable for the jealous Zhong Ning to do something like this.
“When? Are you going?”
Xue Yingxian said, “Yeah, you’re coming with me.”
“Why would I go? To be a hype woman?” Xian Ning asked with a laugh.
Xue Yingxian pecked her. “That works. Don’t you love watching a good show?”
Xian Ning agreed. She did love a good show.
********
As the Lunar New Year approached, the temperature dropped. Xian Ning didn’t go out unless she had to, and when she did, she wanted to be wrapped up in a blanket.
One day, her mother dragged her out to buy New Year’s supplies. Xue Yingxian conveniently showed up and insisted on taking her to buy clothes. Luckily, the store was warm, or she wouldn’t have even bothered to try anything on.
Still, she didn’t understand why they needed to buy more clothes. Hadn’t they just bought some?
Ever since they got together, Xue Yingxian had been obsessed with feeding her and buying all sorts of clothes, shoes, and bags for her, dressing her up like a Barbie doll.
“The white one looks good. The pink one isn’t bad either.”
Usually, Xue Yingxian didn’t hesitate; she would just get all of them. The store manager couldn’t stop smiling and immediately had an employee send the clothes to the Xue family.
“Don’t send these to the Xue family. Send them to this address instead.”
Xue Yingxian wrote down the Lu family’s address for the manager.
Xian Ning looked at her, thinking Xue Yingxian was acting a little strange today.
On New Year’s Eve, the day Zhong Ning was going to propose to Chu Ling, Xue Yingxian didn’t come to pick up Xian Ning. She said she had to help Zhong Ning set up and told her to drive herself.
Xian Ning put on a simple black, long down jacket that covered her from head to toe, ready to leave.
“You’re going like that?” Mrs. Lu asked.
Xian Ning looked down at herself, not seeing any problem.
“It’s warm and simple. It won’t steal the spotlight from the main characters. Perfect.”
Mrs. Lu stopped her. “You can’t go like this. You’re…”
She stopped herself mid-sentence, then went to the closet and pulled out the clothes that had been delivered. She picked out an off-white suit with a white woolen coat, which instantly made Xian Ning look stylish.
Xian Ning couldn’t say no to her. She put on the outfit and shivered as she got out of the car.
“Beauty really does come at a price,” she sniffled, rushing into the restaurant without waiting for her parents.
She had planned to drive herself, but her parents said they had to run an errand nearby and came with her.
Mrs. Lu looked at her daughter’s lively figure, her eyes full of affection. “Time flies. You’re so grown up now.”
“It does,” Mr. Lu said, also feeling a little sentimental.
********
As soon as she entered the front door, a line of uniformed waiters bowed to her. A young woman in her thirties came forward with a standard professional smile.
“Miss Lu, this way.”
Xian Ning thought Zhong Ning was so considerate, even arranging for the supporting cast to be welcomed so grandly.
After walking through the front hall, she saw a path covered in rose petals. As she continued, Xian Ning realized that the entire restaurant was surrounded by flowers. The scent was strong, and the ambiance was perfect.
At the end of the path was a giant wall of flowers. As soon as Xian Ning stood still, a group of people jumped out from the side, and Zhong Ning set off a confetti cannon.
“Huh?” Xian Ning looked at her. “Aren’t you the one proposing?”
Zhong Ning chuckled. “Sister Xian Ning, you’re so naive. No wonder my sister has you wrapped around her finger.”
Xian Ning realized what was happening, and a feeling of absurdity washed over her. Was it possible that the main characters tonight weren’t Zhong Ning and Chu Ling, but her and Xue Yingxian?
Just as she was thinking this, the flower wall slowly opened. Xue Yingxian, dressed in the same outfit but in a different color, walked out holding a bouquet of beautifully wrapped champagne roses.
The black woolen coat looked so elegant on her. Xue Yingxian was tall and well-proportioned, a natural model. Paired with her face, which anyone would be captivated by, it wasn’t the clothes that made her look good—she made the clothes look expensive.
Xian Ning’s heart was pounding. Her fingers were trembling. Xue Yingxian walked toward her, knelt on one knee, and offered her the flowers.
“Xian Ning, will you marry me?”
Xian Ning didn’t take the flowers. Instead, she asked, “You said Zhong Ning was proposing. You’re a liar!”
Xue Yingxian immediately got nervous. “I didn’t lie to you on purpose. It was just a surprise. Don’t you like it? I won’t do it again.”
Xian Ning saw her nervousness and her heart skipped a beat. Xue Yingxian is actually easy to handle. As long as she showed the slightest hint of being upset, Xue Yingxian would get so nervous.
That’s why she never doubted Xue Yingxian’s love for her.
“Xue Yingxian, how much do you love me?”
Xue Yingxian tightened her grip on the flowers. “I love you so, so much. So much that I want to be with you not just in this life but in our next lives, and the one after that. For all eternity. I know I’m not a perfect person, and I have a ton of flaws, but I really do love you. Please, give me a chance.”
She held the bouquet closer and, with a trembling hand, took a ring out of her coat pocket.
“I want to spend every New Year’s Eve with you for the rest of our lives. I want to be by your side at all times, until we’re old and gray and can no longer walk.”
A vow to be together forever is not something to be made lightly. After all, a lifetime is long, and no one can guarantee they will always feel the same. But Xian Ning chose to believe in Xue Yingxian. She knew she could do everything she said.
The moment Xian Ning extended her finger, Xue Yingxian was filled with both surprise and joy. She didn’t relax until the big, sparkling diamond ring was on Xian Ning’s ring finger.
Xue Yingxian got up from the ground, her eyes misting up. Xian Ning hugged her and whispered, “Are you going to cry? You big crybaby.”
Xue Yingxian hugged her tightly. “Yes, I’m Sister’s little crybaby,” she said, her voice full of joy.
She buried her face in Xian Ning’s shoulder, letting her tears fall.
From now on, Xian Ning was hers. These were tears of wish fulfillment.
Mr. and Mrs. Xue, and Mr. and Mrs. Lu, stood nearby, watching their two daughters embrace. They exchanged knowing glances, their eyes filled with love and emotion.
Zhong Ning cheered, throwing confetti at them, a true hype woman.
********
When they got back home, it was ten o’clock at night. Xian Ning watched as Xue Yingxian took a box from the car, not thinking anything of it at first.
Until—
Xue Yingxian opened the box, and the sight of the colorful toys inside made Xian Ning dizzy. Before her mind could catch up, her body had already reacted. She turned and ran, but Xue Yingxian hooked her with a red rope.
“Why are you running?”
Xian Ning felt a warm breath on her neck. She didn’t turn around. “I just remembered I have something to tell my mom. You can look at these. I’ll be right back.”
Xue Yingxian wrapped the rope around her finger, her eyes looking dangerous. “What’s the point of looking at them alone? It’s much more fun together.”
“Aren’t you going to pick a few that you like, Sister?”
“No,” she said. I wouldn’t dare.
Xue Yingxian let out a low laugh, her chest vibrating. “Then I’ll pick for you. I know what you like, anyway.”
Xian Ning’s scalp tingled. “Can we just not pick any? I’m tired tonight. Let’s go to bed early.”
“No,” Xue Yingxian said. She pulled the rope, pulling Xian Ning into her arms. “Tonight is our engagement night. We have to make some unforgettable memories.”
Who uses those things to make unforgettable memories?! Xian Ning screamed in her head.
“Wait! Wait! I have something serious to ask you!”
Xue Yingxian knew she was stalling, but she answered patiently. “Mhm. What is it?”
“How did you convince our parents?”
It was easy to convince her side, but Mrs. Xue wasn’t so easy to fool. Even though she agreed to them being together, proposing in college was still too early. Xian Ning couldn’t believe she didn’t think Xue Yingxian was just messing around.
There had to be a story she didn’t know about.
Xue Yingxian bit her ear. “That’s a secret.”
The red rope slid down, encircling Xian Ning’s hands. When Xian Ning noticed, it tightened, making her unable to struggle.
“Xue Yingxian, I really do need to talk to my mom.”
“Oh, I know.”
She said she knew, but she showed no intention of letting go. She leaned in slightly and picked Xian Ning up with one arm.
Xian Ning didn’t dare to yell. She could only push her lightly, afraid that if she pushed too hard, they would both fall.
In the bathroom, Xue Yingxian placed Xian Ning on the floor and closed the door with a click.
Xian Ning cowered in the corner, afraid that Xue Yingxian would turn into a hungry wolf and pounce on her.
Xue Yingxian stood still for a moment, then chuckled. “Why the face? Am I going to eat you?”
Yes, Xian Ning firmly answered in her head.
“Just take a shower and go to bed. Aren’t you tired? Come here.”
Xian Ning had fallen for her tricks too many times and could now distinguish between what was real and what was fake. This sentence was clearly meant to lure her into a trap.
“I’ll shower myself. You go out.”
Xue Yingxian’s lips curved into a pout. She looked at Xian Ning with a pitiful expression, and her voice became sad.
“We just got engaged, and Sister is already starting to dislike me. Is she going to hate me in the future? Not love me?”
Xian Ning looked at her pitiful expression, and her heart softened again. Sigh. It’s no wonder I’m so easy to fool. Xue Yingxian is just too beautiful.
Just looking at that face put her in a good mood. When she acted pitiful, Xian Ning wanted to give her her whole heart. What sense was there in that?
Xian Ning had one last bit of stubbornness. “You come here.”
Xue Yingxian laughed, walking toward her and turning on the water. The shower head poured water over them as Xian Ning fell into her arms.
“Are you going to shower with your clothes on?”
Xian Ning took off her clothes, exposing herself to the warm water. Xue Yingxian held her from behind and rubbed the cool shower gel on her.
Xian Ning shivered and slipped out of Xue Yingxian’s embrace. Xue Yingxian wiped her face, opened her eyes, and looked at her. Her dark eyes were hazy with desire.
Xian Ning knew that being looked at like this meant trouble. She tried to hurry up and get out, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t escape Xue Yingxian’s grasp.
Xue Yingxian dried her off and wrapped her tightly in a thick bathrobe.
“You have to dry your hair, or you’ll get a headache tomorrow.”
Xian Ning obediently sat down and let her blow-dry her hair.
Finally, at eleven o’clock, she was in bed.
Xian Ning wrapped herself tightly in the bathrobe, pretending to be asleep. She heard Xue Yingxian’s footsteps drawing closer, and then she lifted the covers and got in.
A hand reached out and pulled Xian Ning into her arms. This turn of events didn’t surprise Xian Ning at all.
“Sister, there’s only half an hour left of today. Do we really have to let it pass so uneventfully?”
Her voice was thick with disappointment, and Xian Ning’s heart felt a little sore, as if it had been gently squeezed.
She turned to face Xue Yingxian. Her eyes drooped, and her freshly dried hair was a little messy, like a puppy abandoned on the street.
“Okay, just… once.”
Xian Ning gave in.
Xue Yingxian’s eyes instantly lit up. She put her hand on the back of Xian Ning’s head and kissed her. It was a gentle kiss, but with a sense of urgency. In just a few seconds, she had parted Xian Ning’s teeth and started to entangle their tongues, trying to steal all of Xian Ning’s air so she would be helpless in her arms.
No matter how many times it happened, Xian Ning couldn’t resist this kind of frenzy. She pushed Xue Yingxian away and gasped for air in her arms.
Her long, fan-like eyelashes trembled. Her rosy lips quivered. The collar of her bathrobe had opened a little, revealing a peek of her skin.
Xue Yingxian’s eyes were filled with emotion, and her throat moved. She reached for the toy on the bedside table.
A low humming sound started. Xian Ning looked up at her, but Xue Yingxian kissed her again, cutting off her protest before it could leave her lips.
The sudden stimulation made Xian Ning’s vision go black. She grabbed Xue Yingxian’s arm, leaving marks from her fingers. Tears welled up in her eyes, and when the switch was pushed up a notch, they started to fall.
Xue Yingxian’s eyes were as dark as ink, with a hint of red at the corners, like a smear of rouge. It was a vivid, breathtaking sight.
Xian Ning was out of strength in no time. She lay limply in Xue Yingxian’s arms. Xue Yingxian released her lips and whispered in her ear, “Do you want me to turn it up another notch?”
Xian Ning shook her head frantically, pleading softly, which only made Xue Yingxian go even further.
The humming sound grew louder. Xian Ning struggled and pushed Xue Yingxian away, running toward the foot of the bed. Xue Yingxian was afraid of hurting her and quickly let go. The scene became even more captivating and sensual.
Xian Ning’s bare feet were on the floor. Her whole body glowed under the lights. Her long legs were slender and straight, but not skinny—they were well-proportioned, with perfectly defined muscles.
And between them, a pink rope swayed with her movements. Xue Yingxian’s eyes went wide.
As Xian Ning was about to reach the door, a warm chest pressed against her back.
“Are you planning on going out like that?”
Only then did Xian Ning realize she was completely naked. She had been so focused on escaping Xue Yingxian that she had forgotten this small detail.
Now, trapped between the door and Xue Yingxian’s arms, she was in a predicament.
Xue Yingxian picked up the pink rope. Her long fingers ran over the button, pushing it up one more notch.
“Looks like Sister likes this.”
Xian Ning’s whole body arched, hitting the door with a loud clang. Xue Yingxian was afraid she would get cold and pulled her into a hug.
“Don’t you like it? Zhong Ning would be sad. This was her engagement gift to us.”
Xian Ning’s mind was in a haze. What has Zhong Ning learned at such a young age? I need to give her a serious talk someday.
Xue Yingxian pinched her neck and bit her. The humming sound continued, but it was muffled, as if submerged in water.
“What’s that sound? Are you two fighting?” Mrs. Xue’s voice suddenly came from outside.
Xian Ning froze, and she accidentally caused Xue Yingxian’s hand to get soaking wet.
Xue Yingxian leaned in close to her ear and whispered, “Didn’t you say you had something to tell Mom? Go on, tell her.”
