- After Being Bound to the Scummy Alpha System, I Became Famous Thanks to My Face Blindness
- Chapter 57 - This Is Straight Up Provocation!
Xiao Nan said, “Host, this is your narrow mindedness. Do you really think my existence conforms to modern medicine?”
Tang Ling: “?”
You know your existence doesn’t fit modern medicine, huh?
Xiao Nan replied with feeling, “Trust me — if you work to earn 14 scummy alpha points, you can say goodbye to face blindness forever, and I’ll be able to leave in peace. I’ll slip away and bless you and Shishi from some distant scumbag A’s body.”
Tang Ling: “…”
No relief at all.
“Let me think about it.”
Tang Ling wasn’t opposed to the reward — it was tempting — but the definition of scumbag A was vague. Since she’d already decided to pursue Tan Shiyi, she couldn’t bring herself to do anything that would hurt her. At the same time, she didn’t want to get emotionally entangled with anyone else.
Xiao Nan noticed her hesitation. “Host, think long term. I don’t want to see you all lovey dovey with someone else, but you don’t want to never remember Shishi’s face either, do you?”
Of course, Tang Ling didn’t want that. As Xiao Nan said, no matter how much she cared for Tan Shiyi, she couldn’t pick her out accurately in a crowd, nor could she sketch her face in her mind.
No one wants the image of someone they love to be a blank.
“Anyway, I’ve said what I had to say. Whether you do it or not is up to you.” Xiao Nan sighed. “I really think this is a once and for all fix — a sure win. I can only accompany you for these ten days. If you don’t use them well, you’ll have to pray for a medical miracle.”
“I said I’ll think about it,” Tang Ling said slowly. “At this point, I don’t want to hurt anyone. So, I’m thinking — is there a person I could use to gain scummy alpha points without any psychological burden at all?”
Xiao Nan was speechless. “That’s classic: wanting the horse to run but not wanting it to eat. There’s no free lunch. Raising your scummy alpha score always costs something!”
Tang Ling: “Not necessarily. Remember the ‘Majestic Curves’ reward? That reward came because Mr. Tang judged someone as scummy alpha— meaning scummy alpha points can be gained not only by being scummy to an Omega directly, but also by making an Alpha believe you’re scummy.”
Xiao Nan panicked. “Host, are you crazy? You want to dance on Mr. Tang’s landmine? Don’t martyr yourself!”
Tang Ling’s voice dropped. “No — you forgot. There’s one more person.”
Xiao Nan: “Who?”
Tang Ling said the name slowly: “Pu Xiaoyu.”
Xiao Nan: “?”
Tang Ling’s mind spun faster than ever; it had never felt so clear.
“We’ve been trapped in a misunderstanding — thinking we can only get scummy alpha points by scumming someone over. But if the other person treats me kindly, it’s hard to make them think I’m scummy unless the harm is real.”
Like with Tan Shiyi before.
“So why don’t we pick someone who’s already opposed to us? Pu Xiaoyu confessed to Shishi — meaning we two are her rivals. If I stir things up a little, she’ll judge me a scummy alpha.”
“Now I’m no longer a trainee; I’m free to leave the training camp and I’ll have more opportunities to cross paths with Pu Xiaoyu professionally. The script is veering so far off course that Shishi has no feelings for her, so I’m thinking — why not just tear off the mask and pick a fight with her directly?”
Xiao Nan stared. “Host, you’re so smart — I think this plan could work.”
Tang Ling: “Smart? Or we used to be stupid.”
Action matched thought. Tang Ling immediately called Ah Tong and asked her to check Pu Xiaoyu’s recent schedule — see if there was any events they could slip into.
Tang Ling knew someone of Pu Xiaoyu’s level usually didn’t have events that could be casually gatecrashed, so she didn’t really expect much.
But luck — or fate — handed her a surprise.
Ah Tong quickly returned the call, confirming that it was indeed difficult to add people to other events at the last minute. However, three days later there happened to be a charity event promoting “Adopt, Don’t Shop.” One of the invited guests couldn’t make it, so Tang Ling was offered the chance to fill in.
Ah Tong couldn’t hide her worry. “A’ling, you’ve just debuted, your career is just getting started. You absolutely cannot go falling back into old habits or do anything reckless!”
Tang Ling chuckled. “What kind of person do you think I am? Don’t worry, I’m not a child anymore—I know exactly what I’m doing.”
Ah Tong sounded skeptical. “You know what you’re doing? But Pu Xiaoyu is an Alpha, too. Unless one of you two undergoes a secondary differentiation into an Omega, there’s no future in this!”
Tang Ling rolled her eyes. “Tong-jie, you’re overthinking. I don’t plan on dating Pu Xiaoyu.”
Ah Tong remained on guard. “Then what are you planning? Surely, it’s not to steal someone’s partner?”
Tang Ling inwardly admitted there was a tiny part of that impulse, but she brushed it off. “That’s none of your concern. Just send me the event schedule in advance so I can familiarize myself. Don’t want to drop the ball on the day of.”
Soon, the day of the charity event arrived.
The “Adopt, Don’t Shop” event was held at Jinxi Expo Hall, organized jointly by several pet rescue platforms. The rescued cats and dogs all had varying degrees of disabilities, but under the meticulous care of the staff, they looked clean, healthy, and had all been dewormed and vaccinated.
The role of the guest was simple: present adoption certificates to the new families and take photos with them.
In a way, it was somewhat like a fan meet-and-greet.
Since Tang Ling had been added at the last minute, the organizers didn’t announce her name publicly on Weibo, only teasing that there would be a mysterious guest.
The mysterious guest, Tang Ling, arrived at the venue.
Today, she would face Pu Xiaoyu head-on, so Tang Ling took care to present herself well. She wore a retro-style black crop top and purple-gray cargo pants, looking effortlessly edgy and mischievous.
Of course, if there weren’t bandages wrapped around her arms, she’d look even more rebellious.
Ah Tong, unable to relax, had accompanied her. They entered the exhibition hall through the back door and spotted Pu Xiaoyu from a distance.
Pu Xiaoyu was dressed in a sharp, professional suit dress, her signature gold-rimmed glasses perched on her nose. She was reviewing the event plan with the staff, confirming details.
She glanced up and smiled when she saw Tang Ling.
“I was wondering who the mysterious guest would be—it’s you.”
Tang Ling smiled in return. “Pu Xiaoyu, long time no see.”
“I heard you secured the first debut spot for Beidou Star. Congratulations,” Pu Xiaoyu said, stepping forward to shake her hand. “So, it’s not as tough as before, right?”
Tang Ling fixed her gaze on her. “It’s still tough. After all, it’s rare for someone to succeed in both career and love. Don’t you agree?”
Ah Tong blinked, stunned, not understanding the sarcastic tone in Tang Ling’s words.
Pu Xiaoyu was momentarily taken aback too, then laughed. “Looks like you’ve heard some things and are daring to challenge me?”
Tang Ling responded humbly, “Challenge you? I wouldn’t dare. You’re a senior, basic social etiquette I still understand.”
She shifted her tone. “But using your seniority to pressure juniors, isn’t that a bit shameless?”
Pu Xiaoyu dropped her pretense and pushed up her glasses. “Tang Ling, let’s not beat around the bush. You should know better than anyone which of us is Shiyi’s destined person.”
Tang Ling paused, sensing something odd in Pu Xiaoyu’s words, but didn’t dwell on it. She replied casually, “Destined person? Pu Xiaoyu, you still believe in fate? I don’t think any love is preordained—everything depends on effort.”
“Oh?” A cold gleam flashed across Pu Xiaoyu’s glasses. “So, you’ve decided to compete with me for Shiyi?”
“Compete?” Tang Ling smiled and leaned closer. “Pu Xiaoyu, you probably don’t know—Shiyi has always been chasing me. She’s so enthusiastic, I can’t refuse her.”
“Tang Ling!” Ah Tong couldn’t bear it anymore. This wasn’t about dating, nor was it about stealing someone’s partner. This was outright provocation!
She grabbed Tang Ling to the side and said sharply, “How can you speak to Pu Xiaoyu like that? I worked hard to get you in here just to argue? Go apologize to her right now!”
