- After Becoming The Malicious Female Supporting Character, I Was Pursued By The Third Female Lead
- Chapter 1 - The Mad Dog Sister O
In April, A City was plagued by continuous drizzle, and a chill seeped out from the crevices of the bluestone in the cemetery.
In front of a tombstone halfway up the mountain, a slender figure holding a plain colored umbrella bent down to gently lay down the white chrysanthemums in her hand.
Engraved on the tombstone were the words. Madame Yu and her Wife.
The figure’s voice was as light as a passing spring breeze. “Aunties, I brought Xiao Bao back to see you.”
Standing beside her was a little girl with cute and playful twin pony tails, her small face as delicately carved as pink jade.
This was her daughter, named Xiao Bao. She was thirteen years old this year and was supposed to start junior high school in September.
Xiao Bao didn’t look like her, instead, she resembled another person whom she still didn’t dare to recall. Lin Sheng.
It had been ten years.
From the moment she left behind the divorce agreement and fled A City with the three-year-old Xiao Bao to hide in a remote town in the southwest, a full ten years had passed.
If it weren’t for her desire to bring Xiao Bao back to visit the two aunties who slept eternally underground, she probably would never have set foot in A City again for the rest of her life, nor would she have ever touched anything related to Lin Sheng.
“Mommy,” Xiao Bao leaned into her arms, “It’s so cold here. Grandma will get sick sleeping here.”
Smoothing her daughter’s ponytails, she said gently, “Then we’ll buy some warm clothes to burn for Grandma in a little while.”
There were shops selling paper funeral offerings at the entrance of the cemetery. After purchasing them, one could go to a designated area to burn them for the deceased.
It was her own oversight, she had only bought white chrysanthemums and nothing else. Fortunately, Xiao Bao’s words reminded her.
She squatted down to clear the weeds in front of the tombstone, and Xiao Bao sensibly joined her.
Neither mother nor daughter noticed the three black Mercedes Benz vehicles that had newly arrived at the main entrance of the cemetery.
After going to the paper offering shop to pick out some clothes, shoes, socks, bedding, and daily necessities to burn for the two aunties, she prepared to leave with Xiao Bao.
She hadn’t planned on staying long this time, she had already bought her return flight tickets.
Only then did she notice the cars at the main entrance. Since the Qingming Festival had just passed, she assumed they were also here to pay respects and didn’t pay them much mind.
It wasn’t until a strange and dangerous aura enveloped her that she suddenly snapped her head up. Her pupils shrunk violently, and her heart skipped a beat.
Before she could react, two men in black suits smothered her mouth with handkerchiefs, grabbed her by the waist, and dragged her toward a car.
Another two men in black went to grab Xiao Bao.
Xiao Bao was terrified and cried out, “Mommy!”
“Mmh, mmh!”
She struggled frantically. Seeing Xiao Bao crying hysterically out of fear, she reached out, wanting to grab her daughter, but she was pinned down mercilessly into the back seat by the men in black. The pungent smell of chemicals quickly caused her to lose consciousness.
“Mommy! Let go of me! Bad guys!” Xiao Bao’s cries were heart wrenching, her hands flailing wildly in the air, desperately worried about her mother.
Ultimately, she too was forced into another car. The car door slammed shut with a thud, and Xiao Bao trembled in fear.
The black Mercedes Benzes drove away from the cemetery in an orderly fashion, leaving a dead silence inside the carriage.
The man in black in the passenger seat looked back at the unconscious Yu Keqing in the back seat, frowning with some worry.
“Was the dosage too high? Absolutely nothing must go wrong. If anything happens to her, none of us will be able to handle the consequences.”
“Don’t worry, I measured the dose perfectly. She isn’t hurt.”
Yu Keqing lay half-reclined in the back seat. Her consciousness, which had plunged into darkness, gradually revived, and her fingertips twitched slightly.
Her eyelids were too heavy to open, and her body lacked any strength. She began to fearfully guess the worst-case scenario.
A kidnapping? But who would kidnap her and Xiao Bao in broad daylight? She had no money, nor did she have any enemies.
Enemies…
Lin Sheng. Only Lin Sheng wanted her dead.
This name was like a poisonous thorn, unexpectedly piercing into her heart. Carrying a pain that hadn’t dissipated in ten years, it could take her life in an instant.
She thought she had hidden far enough and long enough, long enough for Lin Sheng to forget her existence, long enough for the hatred and resentment she shouldn’t have borne to finally be offset, so that she and Xiao Bao could live their little life in peace.
Now it seemed she had been naive after all.
“A person like you? You don’t deserve it. You can’t even compare to a single strand of Man’er’s hair.”
“Yu Keqing, what kind of pity are you pretending to look for now? Don’t let me see this pathetic look of yours, it’s disgusting.”
“Don’t touch me. You’re filthy.”
Slap! She was slapped hard by Lin Sheng. “Who allowed you to enter this room? Get out!”
It felt as though a pair of hands was tearing at her heart, making it difficult for her to breathe as she jolted awake from the nightmare.
“Ah!” She sat up in bed, panting heavily, her body covered in cold sweat from the shock.
When she recovered her senses, she found herself sleeping in an unfamiliar room with snowy white walls and log-wood furniture.
No, actually, it wasn’t completely unfamiliar. She had entered this room once before. The only difference from back then was that the photo of Man’er on the wall was gone, instead, there was a small table with a bouquet of daisies growing on it.
The fragrance of roses permeated the air. This was Lin Sheng’s pheromone, a rich, voluptuous rose, the unique charm of a top-tier Omega, yet laced with an undeniable sense of oppression.
Meanwhile, she was just a low-level Alpha whose pheromones possessed zero aggressiveness. Even without Man’er, Lin Sheng would never look at her.
This was her fate, ordinary, unremarkable, and low as dust.
She clenched the quilt tightly with both hands, her knuckles turning white from the exertion.
She didn’t know what Lin Sheng wanted to do again, but an instinctual fear urged her to leave this place immediately.
Yu Keqing, have you forgotten the time you accidentally entered this room and got slapped by Lin Sheng? How do you still dare to lie on this bed so brazenly now? Do you want to lose your life? Lin Sheng won’t show you any mercy, she wishes you were dead.
Leave, yes, leave!
She threw off the quilt and got out of bed. Fortunately, her clothes were still on.
Right, Xiao Bao!
Her mind was filled with images of her daughter being taken away by the men in black. Her heart squeezed violently, causing a pain so sharp she could barely catch her breath.
Clutching her chest, she slumped down by the foot of the bed. Her face was as pale as paper, and though she propped her hands on the floor to try to stand up multiple times, she couldn’t manage it.
Three years ago, she had fallen gravely ill. It was only by heaven’s grace that she managed to reclaim her life, but her physical health was nowhere near what it used to be.
After an unknown amount of time, the bedroom door was pushed open, and footsteps slowly approached.
Startled, she raised her head toward the direction of the door.
In the back light stood a tall figure with a striking silhouette.
Having not seen her for ten years, Lin Sheng appeared even more stunningly beautiful. With seaweed-like long curly hair and a well-tailored black velvet hip-hugging dress, her skin looked as white as snow and her curves exquisite. Her aura was glamorous and seductive, making her a veritable masterpiece of a woman. However, a deep chill rested between her brows, making people shudder and want to retreat three paces.
Those beautiful eyes, which had once only shown tenderness to Man’er, were now locked firmly onto her, like looking at a long-lost treasure, or perhaps a prey that could never escape.
“You’re awake?”
The emotionless, cold voice fell into Yu Keqing’s ears, making her subconsciously shrink back.
“Where is Xiao Bao?” Her voice trembled with hard to conceal fear. Lin Sheng had always viewed Xiao Bao as a disgrace; she was truly terrified that Lin Sheng would do something to her daughter.
Lin Sheng walked over, her high heels stopping within the range of Yu Keqing’s downward gaze.
Then, she bent down and reached out, her fingertips brushing against Yu Keqing’s cheek. The icy contact made Yu Keqing tremble all over.
“Don’t worry, Xiao Bao is doing well. You should worry about yourself first.”
Lin Sheng applied force with her fingertips, almost sinking them into Yu Keqing’s flesh. Complex emotions surged in the depths of her eyes, anger, unwillingness, and a trace of heartache that Yu Keqing couldn’t decipher.
This person has gotten thin. How could she be this thin? There’s barely any meat left when pinching her.
Shocked, Yu Keqing instinctively tightened her grip on the quilt beside her and explained in a panic, “I haven’t contacted Man’er. I haven’t done anything. You can check if you don’t believe me. Xiao Bao is just a child, she doesn’t know anything. Please don’t hurt her.”
Back then, in order to protect Man’er, Lin Sheng had calculated against her step by step. She had found out about all the things Lin Sheng had done to her before she left.
She felt a lingering fear, realizing that if she had been a step too late, she might have been… by Lin Sheng.
She didn’t dare mention Lin Sheng’s calculations against her back then. She didn’t dare bring up the days of being verbally abused, threatened, ignored, and summoned at will like garbage. Even less did she dare to mention how heartbroken she was when she saw Lin Sheng holding Man’er’s daughter, chatting and speaking so gently, taking care of her in every possible way, looking exactly like a family of three.
Now, she only begged that Lin Sheng would let her and Xiao Bao leave, seeing as she had honestly hidden away for ten years without causing trouble.
Lin Sheng took a deep look at her, her heart feeling a dense, needle like prick of pain.
Withdrawing her hand, she threw a yellowed piece of paper at her, saying coldly, “This. Explain.”
Yu Keqing looked down, and her heart sank instantly.
This was the divorce agreement she had left behind back then. Only her own signature was on it. Lin Sheng hadn’t signed it.
Staring at the agreement, she couldn’t understand Lin Sheng’s intention.
“I didn’t sign it, so our marriage is still legal and valid. You are still my wife. If you dare to run away with Xiao Bao again, see how I deal with you.”
A warm breath carrying the scent of roses brushed past her ear, but the voice was as cold as ice.
Yu Keqing felt entirely cold, as if she had plummeted into an ice cellar. Her lips trembled, leaving her unable to even utter a word.
She was placed under a form of modified house arrest by Lin Sheng.
Lin Sheng didn’t restrict her movements, but she could only stay inside the house and wasn’t allowed to step out of the front door.
The doors and windows were locked tight, and all communication devices, including her phone, were confiscated. She didn’t even have a chance to call for help outside.
Every day, only at fixed times would Lin Sheng have someone bring Xiao Bao over for her to see. Xiao Bao’s eyes were swollen from crying. This unfamiliar place terrified her; she had no memories from before she turned three and didn’t know who that beautiful auntie was.
“Mommy, when can we go home? I want to go home. I miss Tuan Tuan,” Xiao Bao wept softly as she clung to her mother.
Tuan Tuan was a stray dog they had picked up by the roadside a few years ago. It was quite pitiful, very small, and had even lost a section of its tail from being run over by a car.
Holding her daughter, Yu Keqing’s heart felt sour and painful. She could only force back her tears to comfort her, “Xiao Bao, be good. Just wait a bit longer. Mommy will take you home very soon.”
Even she felt these words were hollow and powerless. But in order to keep Xiao Bao from being consumed by fear, she decided to have a talk with Lin Sheng.
She would do anything as long as Lin Sheng was willing to let her and Xiao Bao leave.
Yu Keqing sat on the sofa on the balcony, watching the sunset gradually sinking outside the window. Her mind was entirely filled with scenes from thirteen years ago.
When she had transmigrated into this book, she had to face the mess left behind by the original owner, leaving her no choice but to fearfully seek out Man’er to apologize.
Man’er was a kind and innocent person who didn’t blame her and quickly forgave her.
Finding Yu Keqing to be gentle tempered, easy to talk to, and comfortable to be around, Man’er gradually became friends with her.
Later, Man’er mentioned wanting to introduce her to a partner. What she never expected was that the person Man’er introduced would be Lin Sheng.
Even less did she expect that this marriage was a trap meticulously laid out by Lin Sheng from the very beginning.
The sole purpose was to control her so that she would never have the opportunity to harm Man’er again.
“What are you thinking about?” Lin Sheng’s voice suddenly came from behind her.
She gasped in shock, completely unaware of when Lin Sheng had returned.
Lin Sheng wore a black silk bathrobe with her long hair draped over her shoulders. The soft sensuality of an Omega was displayed to its absolute limit on her body, mature and captivating. Just by sitting there and gesturing with her hand, countless people would fall at her feet.
Yu Keqing retracted her gaze, not daring to look, her hands nervously clutching her trousers.
“I… I want to talk to you.” Her voice was very low, devoid of any confidence.
Lin Sheng walked over and sat beside her, the rich rose fragrance enveloping the surroundings. “Except for your desire to take Xiao Bao and leave, which is non-negotiable, you can talk about anything else. Speak, I’m listening.”
The arm extended across gently rested behind Yu Keqing’s waist, her palm seemingly brushing past her spine inadvertently.
Yu Keqing’s body stiffened almost imperceptibly, and she quietly straightened her spine, doing her best to avoid physical contact with Lin Sheng.
Lin Sheng could do whatever she wanted to her, but Yu Keqing couldn’t afford to get ahead of herself, otherwise, what awaited her would only be slaps and humiliation.
Her palms were slick with sweat as she opened her mouth with difficulty. “Xiao Bao needs to go to school. I… Xiao Bao and I left in a hurry, and there are still many things at home that haven’t been arranged. I need to go back and handle them…”
“The school has already been contacted. Xiao Bao can continue her studies tomorrow. I’ve also sent people over to your house, so the cat and dog are being looked after. Your job at the coffee shop has already been resigned for you.”
Clutching the pathetic fabric of her trousers, she wasn’t at all surprised that Lin Sheng had discovered her address and job so quickly.
Seeing that she had gone quiet, Lin Sheng’s hand moved directly onto her waist, measuring it as if it were a matter of consequence.
She really is too thin, much thinner than before. Has this person even been eating properly?
“What else?” Lin Sheng prompted.
Layer after layer of cold sweat seeped from her back, and a faint scent of sandalwood drifted out from her collar.
It possessed no aggressiveness whatsoever, only making people feel gentle and at peace.
Lin Sheng leaned even closer toward her, her soft, full chest pressing against her arm.
“I…” Her mind went completely blank, her head hanging low, her stray hairs falling against the side of her neck.
“Hmm?” Lin Sheng’s fingers traced up along her tailbone, point by point.
She waited for Lin Sheng’s slap to land on her face, but there were some things she still had to say, lest Lin Sheng misunderstand that she still held delusional expectations.
“I only wanted to take Xiao Bao to pay respects… to pay respects to my parents. I didn’t mean anything else. I’ve already bought the return tickets. I never wanted to stay in A City. If… if you find my presence eyesore even in Mang City, I can move away. I can move somewhere even further. Would that work? Please let me take Xiao Bao away. She is scared, she is just a child and truly knows nothing.”
Back then, however much love and tenderness Lin Sheng had for Man’er, she had equal amounts of coldness and disgust for her. She absolutely didn’t dare to crave it anymore.
Lin Sheng’s fingers traveled up from her tailbone to the back of her neck, pausing for a moment before slowly sliding over to pinch her earlobe.
“I’ve already said, except for this one condition, everything else can be negotiated. Also, Yu Keqing, have you forgotten one thing?”
“You are still my legal wife, and Xiao Bao is my daughter. If I don’t agree, don’t even think about taking her away.”
“Don’t mention leaving ever again. Otherwise, I will lock you up so that you won’t even be able to step out of the bedroom door.”
