After Becoming Roommates with an Obnoxious Wealthy Heiress - Chapter 55.2
Hearing this, Yu Xian curled her lips. “Mm. I’m off.”
Qin Shuyue was having a nightmare again. For the past three years, she had nightmares almost every night. Sometimes she actually felt that the dream world was a bit happier than reality. Even though they were nightmares, reality felt more like hell. In her dreams, at least her mother was there.
But in her dreams, the faint scent of jasmine would still occasionally intermingle, disturbing Qin Shuyue’s sleep.
When Qin Shuyue opened her eyes again, it was already late at night. She was no longer in the hospital but back in her own small bed. In her dream, she had returned to the small bed at home. And as she opened her eyes, she was momentarily dazed. It was as if the room in her dream and the room in reality momentarily overlapped.
Qin Shuyue opened her eyes in a daze. She was lying alone on the large bed, surrounded by emptiness and silence. Outside the floor-to-ceiling window, the pitch-black night didn’t even allow a sliver of moonlight to filter in.
Her hand felt a bit numb. When she turned her head again, she discovered someone else was sleeping beside her.
Qin Shuyue couldn’t help but widen her eyes. With three parts nervousness, five parts panic, and two parts curiosity, she leaned forward, wanting to scrutinize the newcomer.
In the dark night, where one couldn’t see their own hand, she could only vaguely discern some blurred facial features. But what she recognized even before her memory was that familiar scent. It drifted quietly into Qin Shuyue’s nose.
The scent seemed to take on a physical form. The long, black, smooth hair followed the movements of the woman lying on the bed, falling into Qin Shuyue’s palm and gently stroking it, causing her palm to itch.
Qin Shuyue’s fingers twitched.
In the next moment, the woman lying on the bed suddenly woke up.
Their eyes met. Coldness and fragrance seemed to rush toward Qin Shuyue with an unstoppable force.
Qin Shuyue was the first to look away. And the woman lying on the bed also sat up. She rubbed her sore neck and asked in a tired, hoarse voice, “Is there anywhere you feel uncomfortable?”
However, hearing her voice made Qin Shuyue’s nose sting for some reason. It was very strange. Extremely strange. This kind of feeling left Qin Shuyue completely bewildered. It couldn’t be traced back, nor could it be moved forward.
She swallowed hard, suppressing the sob in her throat, and gave a calm “Mm.”
The room fell silent.
The woman standing by her bed asked again, “Why didn’t you go to the hospital when you were injured?”
“Because you said to be back before 11:30,” Qin Shuyue replied, her gaze calmly fixed out the window.
Zhu Lingyi couldn’t believe those words. “You didn’t come back once during the seven days of National Day. I thought the rules were non-existent in your eyes.”
Qin Shuyue gave a rare explanation, her voice sounding inexplicably aggrieved. “Because I knew I definitely wouldn’t be able to make it back, so I didn’t want to come back and make you angry again.”
“Why couldn’t you make it back?” Zhu Lingyi asked.
“I had to work.”
After a moment of silence, only Qin Shuyue’s faint breathing so weak it was almost inaudible could be heard in the darkness. “I found the person from the hit-and-run.”
Qin Shuyue’s breathing hitched, which was exceptionally noticeable in the silent night.
“I’ll take you to see him tomorrow.”
Qin Shuyue paused. Her head finally moved, and she finally looked at Zhu Lingyi. “See him? Why see him?”
“To apologize,” Zhu Lingyi said succinctly, her tone carrying an undeniable authority. “He must apologize to you.”
Qin Shuyue gave a careless laugh, her eyes darting around. “An apology isn’t necessary. I’m quite short on money; let him pay me some compensation instead.”
“Pfft.” A light chuckle came from the darkness.
But this laugh sounded exceptionally piercing to Qin Shuyue’s ears. Like a bristling kitten, she rolled over and sat up from the bed. “Hey! Even though tens of thousands of dollars are inconsequential to you, you can’t just mock people at every turn!”
“You’re wrong.” Zhu Lingyi stopped laughing. She stood in the darkness with her hands in her pockets, her long legs making her figure appear exceptionally tall. “If someone dared to crash into me, regardless of whether it was intentional or not, I would sue them until their family was ruined and their wife and children were scattered.”
Hearing this, Qin Shuyue was stunned, and her bristling fur smoothed down. “This… you’re too…”
“Do you think I’m very cold-blooded?” Zhu Lingyi suddenly asked.
Qin Shuyue was taken aback. She curled her lip. “What you’re like is none of my business. Whether you’re cold-blooded or kind, you can be whatever you want.”
Zhu Lingyi chuckled again and asked, “How much do you want him to pay you?”
Qin Shuyue gave a surprised “Huh?”. “Is this something where I can just ask for however much I want?”
“You speak first.”
“Twenty thousand?” Qin Shuyue asked tentatively.
In the darkness, Zhu Lingyi held up one finger and told her a number. Qin Shuyue’s eyes widened, looking completely incredulous.
Zhu Lingyi retracted her hand, tilting her head and looking at her haughtily. “Beg me, and I’ll help you. How about it?”
What a bullshit request. Qin Shuyue was stunned. Does Zhu Lingyi have some kind of special fetish?
She shook her head resolutely, a look of disgust on her face. “No.” She hadn’t forgotten what Zhu Lingyi had done to her. It was simply unforgivable. Thinking about it, she turned cold again.
“Does Miss Zhu have anything else? It’s very late; Miss Zhu should return to her room to rest early!”
Seeing that Qin Shuyue refused to say it, Zhu Lingyi didn’t press her further. She only said: “The final of the Art Festival has been postponed to October 23rd. Today is October 17th; you have less than a week. What art form are you planning to perform? Have you thought about it yet?”
“Painting? Or singing?”
Although Qin Shuyue couldn’t see the expression on Zhu Lingyi’s face, just by the tone of her voice, she could tell that Zhu Lingyi didn’t believe Qin Shuyue had any talent at all.
Her fists clenched tightly, and the duvet beneath her crumpled into a ball. “Don’t trouble yourself, Miss Zhu. I will speak to the counselor myself.”
Zhu Lingyi arched an eyebrow. She didn’t say anything more, but turned and left Qin Shuyue’s room.
The “thump-thump-thump” of footsteps gradually faded away, but Qin Shuyue’s heart felt as if a small part of it had gone empty. Then, it was filled with a sense of annoyance.
Zhu Lingyi… just what exactly is she so arrogant about?
It was indeed very late. After Zhu Lingyi left, Qin Shuyue gazed at the dark scenery outside the window, her eyes reflecting deep emotions.
Did she have a specialty? Yes. In junior high, she had represented her school in a provincial competition. She had won a gold medal, a trophy, and a victory that belonged solely to her. At that time, all the teachers were proud of her. Their school had an art student who possessed both strength and excellence.
But since that incident in the second year of high school, she had never picked up the violin again. Obsessed with her past pride, Qin Shuyue fell asleep again with a smile on her lips. But in her dreams, it was clearly a different scene.
In the morning, clear and melodious chirping came from outside the window, and dazzling sunlight fell on Qin Shuyue’s eyes as she slowly woke up.
Just as she emerged from her dream, a knock came from the door.
“Knock, knock, knock…”
The voice outside wasn’t that of a maid, but Jiang Feiwan’s. “Miss Qin, are you awake?”
Qin Shuyue rolled over and got out of bed. Perhaps the movement was too sudden, as she felt a bit dizzy. After sitting by the bed for a while, she stood up, walked to the door, and pulled it open.
Qin Shuyue was still a bit dazed, rubbing her eyes. “Assistant Jiang, er… good morning?” She really didn’t know why Jiang Feiwan was knocking at this time.
But Assistant Jiang said naturally, “Little President Zhu instructed me to take you to see someone.”
Qin Shuyue suddenly remembered the events of last night. She slapped her forehead, thinking it had just been a dream!
She let out an “Ah,” seemingly still not quite reacting. “Then, then I’ll go change my clothes first.”
Jiang Feiwan gave a patient smile and looked at her watch. “No rush.”
Qin Shuyue quickly fished out some clothes from the wardrobe, changed, washed up, and went downstairs. Jiang Feiwan was sitting on the sofa, holding a tablet, her fingers moving back and forth across the screen.
Seeing Qin Shuyue come downstairs in a change of clothes, Jiang Feiwan pointed toward the dining room. “Eat breakfast first. After you finish, take the medicine on the table.”
Qin Shuyue curled her lip. The medicine is so bitter, I don’t want to take it. Her head drooped.
Jiang Feiwan kept her head down, her gaze fixed on the tablet. She suddenly remembered Yu Xian’s instructions. So, while arranging Zhu Lingyi’s schedule on the tablet, she said to Qin Shuyue: “By the way, Dr. Yu asked me to tell you that if you don’t take your medicine on time again, you’ll have to be hospitalized. Hospitalization will cost tens of thousands.”
Qin Shuyue immediately became obedient. She sat down properly, ate her food, and then silently swallowed each pill and drank the prepared medicine step-by-step.
Seeing that the time was about right, Jiang Feiwan put down the tablet and walked to Qin Shuyue’s side. She checked everything, confirming that Qin Shuyue had indeed finished her medicine. Then, following Yu Xian’s instructions, she organized the morning medicine, sealed it into two small bags, and put them in Qin Shuyue’s canvas bag. She instructed her: “Miss Qin, the bag I just put in your bag is for 12:30 PM, and the other one is for 7:00 PM. You’d better finish dinner before 6:30 and take the medicine thirty minutes later.”
Qin Shuyue was sweating. Is this what Zhu Lingyi’s personal assistant is like? She really is meticulous about everything.
Seeing that Qin Shuyue was still a bit dazed, Jiang Feiwan looked at her watch again. She said, “Miss Qin has a class at 1:30 PM. It’s 8:30 now. The round trip plus the talk will take nearly four hours, and we also have to subtract lunch time… No time to lose, let’s head out quickly!”
Before Qin Shuyue could regain her senses, Jiang Feiwan strode toward the outside of the house, and Qin Shuyue hurriedly followed.
