- After Becoming Roommates with an Obnoxious Wealthy Heiress
- Chapter 24 - Is She Kicking Me Out?
Like driftwood floating in the vast ocean—dazed, aimless, not knowing where it is drifting.
Could it be that Zhu Lingyi likes women?!
Based on various details and guesses, Qin Shuyue felt her vision go dark repeatedly upon realizing this possibility. Her entire body was pinned beneath Zhu Lingyi, unable to move.
Hiss, she’s heavy.
Qin Shuyue was pressed so hard she could barely breathe. She reached out to push back, but it was almost futile.
Zhu Lingyi likely exercised regularly; the strength and muscle in her forearms gripped Qin Shuyue’s arms tightly, leaving no possibility of escape from her grasp.
The immense pulling force tore at Qin Shuyue’s arms, inadvertently ripping open an old scar. Warm blood began to seep out in tiny, dense beads from Qin Shuyue’s arm.
Qin Shuyue’s pupils shrank suddenly. Gathering every ounce of strength she had, she shoved the woman pressing down on her away.
With a “thud,” Zhu Lingyi fell directly off the sofa, making quite a commotion.
Zhu Lingyi let out a muffled groan, frowning in pain as she rubbed the elbow she had slammed against the floor.
Qin Shuyue was also stunned for a moment. She had only wanted to break free from the strength Zhu Lingyi used to imprison her; she hadn’t intended to push her off…
“Qin Shuyue!” An unnamable fury rose from the depths of Zhu Lingyi’s heart, seemingly on the verge of exploding. Her eyes were like frost, with a tempestuous storm surging in the depths of her gaze.
Qin Shuyue trembled all over. She curled up on the sofa, her eyes fixed downward, devoid of life, her head nearly buried in her knees.
She didn’t know why giving her a temple massage had turned into this.
She had clearly stayed in her place, followed the rules, and worked hard to play the role of an invisible roommate. But why—why did these terrible things cling to her like a plague that she couldn’t shake off no matter what!
Why, why, why!
If she had known Zhu Lingyi would suddenly go crazy like this, Qin Shuyue would have strictly refused to go near her, even if it meant sleeping outside the door every night!
How… how did things end up like this!
Her head was filled with chaos and pain. A blank ringing sound echoed simultaneously in both ears. Her cranial nerves throbbed uncontrollably, causing her entire body to shake incessantly.
It hurts…
What was happening to her?
But she couldn’t afford to worry about her own pain; she had to explain the sudden turn of events to Zhu Lingyi.
She had no money. She couldn’t be kicked out.
“I’m sorry, Miss Zhu, I just saw you had a headache and wanted to help…”
“Get out!”
Zhu Lingyi had never been rejected by anyone. It had always been others throwing themselves at her; until now, not a single person had ever broken away from her advances.
Ungrateful.
What kind of “pure and innocent” act was this woman trying to pull!
Ungrateful!
The dull ache from her elbow hitting the floor was still throbbing. The irritation of being rejected for the first time, combined with that pain and the difficult-to-restrain effects of the drugged wine, rushed straight to Zhu Lingyi’s head.
The potency of the red wine had also kicked in at some point. Her rationality was now on the brink of collapse.
Qin Shuyue took in Zhu Lingyi’s attitude—her refusal to give even the slightest chance for an explanation.
Suddenly, tears fell like broken strings of pearls, rolling down one by one.
Qin Shuyue didn’t know why she was crying. But she couldn’t control herself—the shaking, the crying, the tinnitus…
The darkness completely concealed Qin Shuyue’s panicked and uneasy eyes. No one knew that panic and fear had almost entirely filled her heart.
She felt like driftwood in the ocean—dazed, aimless, not knowing where she was heading. Fierce waves attacked her time and again, unavoidable. She could only drift with the current; one small slip-up and she would sink to the bottom of the sea.
“Get out!”
Zhu Lingyi held her forehead with one hand, frowning in painful endurance. She took several heavy breaths, suppressing her rage.
Qin Shuyue practically scrambled off the sofa. Her clothes and hair were a mess.
She looked utterly wretched.
Qin Shuyue almost bolted to the front door, opened it, and ran out.
Zhu Lingyi struggled to crawl up from the floor. With a “thud,” she tripped over something and fell face-first again.
Her face was flushed with an abnormal feverish red, and she was nearly bursting with rage.
Gao Yin! What the hell is your medicine supposed to do!!
Lying on the cold floor seemed to be her final solace. Zhu Lingyi lay there, staring blankly at the ceiling. Gradually, drowsiness washed over her, her vision blurred, and she slowly closed her eyes.
Qin Shuyue had run out the door, but she had nowhere to go, so she returned and crouched in front of Room 601.
With her hair disheveled and her clothes showing signs of being pulled, she crouched by the door like a young girl who had been bullied by a thug—dazed, scared, and helplessly hugging herself.
Her head throbbed, the pain pulling behind her ears and spreading to the back of her head. This sensation hadn’t left her yet, and the wound on her arm seemed to have reopened. With the two types of pain mixing together, Qin Shuyue couldn’t help but hug herself even tighter.
“Hey, hey!”
Someone called out softly.
Qin Shuyue’s tinnitus hadn’t disappeared, so she didn’t notice someone was speaking.
“Hey! Little Chef!”
Gao Yin opened his door halfway, poking half his head out to look toward Room 601.
Qin Shuyue still ignored him.
Gao Yin called her several more times, but she remained unresponsive, as if she couldn’t hear him.
Gao Yin grew anxious and looked left and right. The night was silent; school was tomorrow, so no one would be coming out of their warm beds at this hour to watch the drama.
He looked around to make sure no one was there, then stepped out and trotted over to Qin Shuyue.
He cast a worried and anxious glance toward the door of 601, then looked back at the poor girl crouching on the floor.
“What’s going on? What happened? Is Zhu Lingyi okay?”
Still no answer.
Qin Shuyue’s eyes were hollow and sluggish, as if her soul had been snatched away. She was completely unable to hear any external sounds.
Gao Yin was getting desperate. Seeing Qin Shuyue acting like a statue, he punched his own palm in frustration. He looked around again, his face wrinkling into a ball of stress.
He couldn’t worry about “proper distance between men and women” anymore.
Gao Yin grabbed the dazed Qin Shuyue, pulled her up, and dragged her back into his own apartment.
“Hey! Hey! Little Chef!” After settling her into his apartment, Gao Yin’s expression finally looked less frantic.
Qin Shuyue still sat blankly on the soft, pure-white sofa, her hands shaking incessantly.
Seeing her like this, Gao Yin couldn’t help but frown: Could this girl have seen something “unclean” and been scared out of her mind?
He used his fingertip to give Qin Shuyue’s shoulder a light push.
“Hey, speak to me!”
Seeing that Qin Shuyue still wouldn’t talk, Gao Yin scratched his fluffy hair irritably. Frustrated to the point of wanting to jump, he felt like pointing at her and yelling: “I’ve never seen a woman with such a stubborn temperament as yours!”
“Gao Yin, it’s so late and you’re not asleep? You’re going to miss class again tomorrow…”
A man wearing a cream-white bathrobe walked out of a room, looking half-asleep. One hand rested on the marble railing of the second floor, while the other was placed lazily over his mouth as he yawned. He rubbed his eyes and slowly looked down at the first floor through bloodshot eyes.
Gao Yin’s apartment was slightly different from Zhu Lingyi’s layout, and the style was very distinct. Zhu Lingyi preferred wooden elements, while Gao Yin’s apartment was focused on a more luxurious aesthetic.
When Xu Lian saw exactly who was sitting on the sofa, his sleepiness vanished instantly. Instead, his eyes widened, and he looked at the temperamental Gao Yin downstairs in shock.
“You… why did you bring her back!”
Xu Lian closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He curled his hand on the railing and gently pushed up his gold-rimmed glasses. His lenses reflected his helpless expression.
He tried to reason with Gao Yin. “I know your legs go weak the moment you see a woman. But… can you at least distinguish the occasion and the person? Qin Shuyue is Zhu Lingyi’s new roommate. Could you please try to restrain your little ‘urges’ just a bit?”
Upon hearing this, Gao Yin exploded like a landmine.
“Xu Lian, what kind of bullshit are you talking about! Is this about legs going weak?”
With his hands on his hips, he pointed at Qin Shuyue—who was sitting on the sofa without a word, her head buried low—and looked up at Xu Lian. “This girl went through some kind of episode. After being kicked out by Zhu Lingyi, she just crouched outside the door again. She won’t talk when I ask her questions… I—I’ve never met such a difficult woman!”
Hearing this, Xu Lian’s brow furrowed slightly.
After taking a serious look at Qin Shuyue, his frown deepened.
As if realizing a problem, Xu Lian’s expression became very grave.
Gao Yin was used to this look. Xu Lian only showed such a serious and solemn expression when he was immersed in academic research.
Gao Yin understood even less now. He looked back at Qin Shuyue, then turned back to ask him, “Hey, what are you doing? She’s not one of those books you read…”
“Shh.” Xu Lian slowly walked down the stairs, his eyes never leaving Qin Shuyue for a second.
Gao Yin shut up. He wondered what Xu Lian was up to, acting so serious all of a sudden.
After walking down the stairs, Xu Lian said nothing. He turned to the guest area, poured a paper cup of warm water, and placed it on the crystal coffee table in front of Qin Shuyue.
Seeing that Qin Shuyue remained unmoved, he knelt down, picked up the cup, and personally held it out to her.
He spoke to her in a gentle voice: “Your stomach is very tense. Would you like to drink some warm water first?”
The corners of his eyes tilted up slightly, giving off a very kind feeling.
Gao Yin stared at Xu Lian as if he had seen a ghost.
This guy was a nerd who buried his head in his studies all day long. If the brothers invited him to a bar, he’d refuse instantly; whether there were handsome men or beautiful women, he was unshakable—he simply never went, choosing to study instead.
Gao Yin had never seen Xu Lian care about any “person.” This attitude toward Qin Shuyue… it was truly strange. He wanted to see exactly what Xu Lian was planning.
Qin Shuyue’s hands were folded, and as if she had no sensation, she was picking at her hand desperately. Her fingernails had nearly dug a bloody hole into the crevices of her fingers.
Xu Lian raised an eyebrow slightly. He placed a hand gently over the hand Qin Shuyue was picking at. Clearly, he could feel her hand shaking incessantly; the sensation became even stronger the moment he touched her.
He didn’t speak. Instead, he lifted the hand she was using to pick at herself and pressed the warm paper cup into her palm. Feeling the temperature, Qin Shuyue’s fingers twitched, and the water in the cup nearly spilled.
