After Becoming Pregnant With The Empress Cat's Cub - Chapter 14.1
Lan Ye leaned in, puckering up, but just as they were about to touch, Rin pulled back.
Again! Lan Ye couldn’t take it anymore! She couldn’t keep missing out on the food at her doorstep. She shoved the other woman back with force, and Rin slid onto the pillow.
Lan Ye pinned one shoulder and tilted Rin’s chin with her other hand: “Be good, give me a kiss, or else.”
Ju Rin watched her, waiting to hear what the “or else” was.
“Or else I’ll add ‘one’ and kiss you ten times.”
Ju Rin: “How does adding one make it ten?”
Lan Ye smiled thinly. She flicked away the bra strap hanging loosely on Rin’s shoulder and drew a horizontal line across her exquisite collarbone. “This is a one. Now I’m adding a one.” Lan Ye drew a vertical line through the first. “See? Now it’s a ten (十).”
Quite the logic: 1 + 1 = 十 (ten)…
Ju Rin pursed her lips. Looking at the person leaning in to kiss her, she spoke just before their lips met.
“Are you certain… you want to be the medicine?”
Using the human’s own terminology, Ju Rin asked one last time about her intent. Lan Ye paused. This woman was acting like an auctioneer, needing to ask three times before confirming.
“I’m certain! Stop talking and give me a kiss… AH!”
With a sudden, high-pitched gasp, Lan Ye was flipped over. She landed back on the bed. Before she could ask what Rin was doing, she was flipped again, pinned facedown on the mattress. As she tried to lift her head from the pillow and push herself up, she was rolled onto her side.
Lan Ye: … She felt like a piece of broccoli being tossed in a stir-fry.
Just as she wondered if she was going to be flipped again, a scorching body pressed against her back. The heat made Lan Ye instinctively arch her chest forward to escape, but the hand clamped under her chest wouldn’t let her go, pulling her back tight.
“AH!!!!”
A sharp sting hit the back of her neck, and Lan Ye’s eyes instantly watered. It wasn’t really pain, it felt like a needle prick, totally bearable, it was the numbness. It was overwhelming! Her whole scalp went tingly!
This feeling… it was so familiar!
Wait, no, this position wasn’t right. Lan Ye tried to scramble forward, but the arm under her chest was like a steel shackle, holding her fast.
Ju Rin avoided Lan Ye’s belly, her burning arm locked under the human’s chest, pulling her into a tight embrace. When she had pinned her down, she had already removed the unbuttoned shirt and bra. Now, there was nothing between their bodies.
Ju Rin’s temperature transferred directly to Lan Ye’s skin. Conversely, Lan Ye’s cool skin provided a momentary relief to Ju Rin’s internal heat.
Lan Ye was sweating from the heat. She tried to tell Rin to let go, but her voice cracked the moment she opened her mouth.
“Ah~”
The spot on her neck that had just been bitten was now being licked. She remembered this feeling all too well!
“No… don’t…”
Hearing this, Ju Rin also recalled many fragments. In her heavy breathing, Lan Ye thought she heard a soft huff.
“You said you wanted to be the medicine…”
No, not this kind of medicine! Lan Ye tried to explain: “It’s supposed to be you lying down, and me… me doing the work. If there’s biting, I’m the one who should be biting~”
The words had barely left her mouth when a finger was inserted into her open lips.
“Bite.”
Lan Ye made a “ptui” sound, pushing the finger out with her tongue. What was that? She didn’t want to bite a finger.
“Not like that! Let go of me! AH!!!!”
Another bite on her shoulder. A tingly, numbing sensation traveled through her shoulder blades into every bone in her body. Physiological tears blurred her vision, and Lan Ye felt as if the air was turning pink…
What… what was going on… Was she dreaming?
Ju Rin’s violent spiritual power was directly affecting the flow of air. Strands of hair floated, and a hazy pink mist began to permeate the room. She bit down, tasting something sweet between her teeth. Like a starving person getting a morsel of food but it wasn’t nearly enough to satisfy the hunger.
Pain and pleasure intertwined.
“Rin… Rin… let me go…”
She’d gotten it wrong. It wasn’t supposed to be like this. Lan Ye was teary-eyed, she had “skills” to offer! She wasn’t just trying to satisfy a desire, she wanted to help! How did she end up being the one bitten?
Ju Rin heard Lan Ye’s cries. The voice was like a bell ringing in the chaotic darkness. She remembered that night, the girl had seemingly been calling her name like this the whole time. Because of that voice, she had miraculously calmed down. Ju Rin hugged her tight, wondering why this human could bring her peace. It felt like she had heard this voice a long, long time ago.
After being bitten, Lan Ye felt a strange, sudden wave of drowsiness hit her. I’m supposed to be the “1”! I can’t sleep! She tried to force her eyelids open, but her thoughts were fading. She thought she heard a ringing sound.
Ju Rin opened her eyes and looked toward the sound. Seeing it was the “child’s watch” on the human’s wrist, she pressed the button to shut it off. Lan Ye felt her wrist being held and reached out to grab Lin’s hand.
“I… I want…” I want to be the “1”…
Before she could finish the sentence, another bite landed on her neck.
Ju Rin “satisfied” the request for “more” with another bite, adding a bit of hallucinogen. Beastmen could secrete a hallucinogen from their teeth, an evolutionary trait. In the past, it was used to paralyze prey, making them fall into a dream so their meat would stay tender. Over time, they no longer needed to hunt like that, and the trait became something used on intimate partners to give them pleasant dreams.
Hearing the human’s breathing turn long and steady, Ju Rin got up, dressed, and went to a cabinet in the corner to find the medicine the doctor had prescribed.
Ju Rin had a secret, she didn’t like taking medicine. It wasn’t because she was a “Super S” beastman confident in her ability to endure the riotous spiritual power, as others thought. She simply hated the taste…
Swallowing a handful of pills, Ju Rin returned to the bed. Looking at the unconscious human, she bit her shoulder gently. Taking medicine for the first time… because of this human.
Thinking about how the girl wanted to be “medicine,” Ju Rin admitted she had momentarily considered trying it… fortunately, she had regained her senses. She couldn’t actually use her as medicine. Ju Rin let go and looked at the flat belly.
This human seems to have completely forgotten her own condition.
If Lan Ye were awake to hear that, she’d be livid. She wasn’t a careless mother; she knew her situation. She hadn’t intended to satisfy herself, she only wanted to contribute her “skills” to help Rin relieve her physiological urges.
She wanted to be the top (the “1”)!
Their logic was clearly not on the same wavelength, leading to this current misunderstanding.
Having taken her medicine, Ju Rin endured the lingering, nauseating taste in her mouth. she put a pair of pajamas on the human and tucked her in. Standing by the bed, she watched the strange human for a while. Whether it was the medicine working or something else… just looking at her sleeping face caused Ju Rin’s restless spiritual power to finally settle.
“Sweet dreams.”
Ju Rin leaned over and pressed the bedside switch. In the quiet afternoon, the room instantly entered “night mode.”
Outside, the sun was shining brightly.
Mi Xiaoman was a beastman who loved the sun. If she had nothing to do, she could bask in it all day. But today, the sunlight on her skin only made her feel irritable. She stole a cautious glance at the person in the passenger seat, the one who had remained silent since leaving the Princess’s house and had ordered her to shut up as well.
She had never seen her sister this angry before. She had no idea what the Princess had said to her. She had expected a world-shattering fight, but her sister had come out shortly after she herself had been “swept” out the door. It looked like they hadn’t fought.
Upon coming out, her sister simply said they were going back to the Upper District. Xiaoman had a million questions, but she wasn’t allowed to speak. The sunlight in the car couldn’t warm the atmosphere, which was half-anxious and half-gloomy.
Mi Xiaoman blamed the Princess. She didn’t know what kind of “wrong medicine” the Princess had taken to move to such a dump, live in such a tiny house, and find such a nonsensical human to call her wife. Surely her spiritual power is malfunctioning.
Mi Xiaoman peeked at Mi Can’s expression again and tentatively whispered, “Sister, are you okay?”
“Mhm.”
Hearing a response, Mi Xiaoman breathed a massive sigh of relief. That meant she could talk!
“Sister, are we just leaving? What about the Princess? And that human, are we just letting her off?”
Hearing the mention of the human, Mi Can turned to look at her. “Do you really believe that human is Rin’s wife?”
Mi Xiaoman shook her head immediately. “No way! The Princess isn’t blind!” She felt that wasn’t enough and added, “Even if she were blind, she wouldn’t settle for that!”
A mere human… who could ever like that?
“The Princess must be joking. Sister, don’t take it to heart.”
Mi Can did not take it to heart: “If even you can figure that out, how could I not know?” That human could not possibly be Rin’s wife.
“Sister, then why do you think the Princess said that?” Mi Can had been thinking about it the whole way. “The problem likely lies with the King and Queen, and perhaps my mother as well.”
She had asked Rin why she ran away from the palace. Rin hadn’t given a clear explanation, only saying she wouldn’t go back… she even said she planned to live as an ordinary person from now on.
How could that be allowed!
One of the reasons Mi Can liked Rin was because she was a princess, by being with her, once Rin inherited the throne, Mi Can would be the Queen. A high-born, Super S beastman with a noble character like hers deserved to be a Queen admired and respected by the entire nation. Rin’s words had directly made her abandon the idea of using force.
“Drive faster. We need to get to the palace before the Queen retires for the evening.” She had to go back and find out exactly why the Princess no longer wanted to be a princess.
Mi Xiaoman floored the accelerator: “Don’t worry, leave it to me!” With her driving skills, arriving before dinner wasn’t out of the question, let alone before bedtime.
The speeding sports car kicked up a gale that flattened the roadside plants and sent dust and gravel flying. Following from a distance, Si Qing slowly decelerated. Did they spot me? Probably not… if they had, that girl with the braids would have turned around to give her a beating.
Seeing the sports car vanish from sight, Si Qing pulled over to the side of the road. Originally, after leaving the safe house and hearing the Mi sisters drive away, she had intended to follow them to see where they were going. She wanted to see if anyone else besides those two had come to the Central District.
If it was just the two of them, there wasn’t much to worry about, combined, they were no match for the Princess. However, the fact that they knew the Princess’s whereabouts was still troublesome, especially given the current situation.
If the Princess were alone, moving to a different hiding spot wouldn’t be a problem. The complication now was the human. And that human was pregnant. She hadn’t had the chance to ask Ju Rin if the eldest Mi daughter knew about the pregnancy. This matter probably couldn’t be kept secret for long. She wondered how the King and Queen would react once they found out.
Furthermore, the human herself might be trouble. Si Qing recalled the human claiming to be an “agent.” Although the girl was joking at the time, thinking back, it might have been a mix of truth and lies. This human might truly be an agent for some human organization. Humans had been trying to overthrow beastman rule for a long time.
Otherwise, how else could one explain an ordinary human bypassing security without leaving a trace and easily entering a safe house designed by the Princess herself? Thinking of this, Si Qing blinked. Would letting the two of them stay together cause trouble? Probably not, she told herself. No matter how clever humans were, they relied on schemes and numbers, in the face of a beastman’s absolute power, a single human was fragile.
The “fragile” human, completely unaware of any potential trouble, was deep in a dream. And she was vividly aware she was dreaming because she had turned into a popsicle… and was being licked.
Going in and out of a warm mouth, Lan Ye felt herself slowly melting. She tried to dodge a tongue that felt like it had tiny barbs on it, but she failed every time. Eventually, she lost all her temper from being licked so much.
Lan Ye just waited to be finished off. Finally, feeling as thin as a toothpick, she saw the light again and realized who the “licker” was. Who else could it be but Rin!
This beastman, who had played hard to get and refused to kiss her when asked, was secretly licking her behind her back. Finally, she had caught her! In that moment, Lan Ye forgot she was a popsicle. No, she was just the popsicle stick now.
The stick was bitten, and Lan Ye twisted and turned but couldn’t break free. “Don’t bite me!”
Lan Ye cried out and snapped her eyes open, bolting upright in bed. She saw Rin standing silently at the foot of the bed.
Ju Rin, hearing the human stir, had already restored the room to daylight mode. She was surprised by the human’s unhappy expression. Her hallucinogen was meant to give people good dreams; generally, whatever one desired in their heart would be realized in the dream.
“What’s wrong?” Ju Rin asked.
Lan Ye squinted, looking around in confusion as her consciousness slowly returned. “I think I was dreaming.”
Ju Rin: “What did you dream about?”
Lan Ye looked at her, recalling the dream’s content: “You were licking me, sucking on me, and even biting me.”
Ju Rin: “…” This was her ‘good’ dream? Her amber eyes were filled with disbelief. Their gazes met, both staring at each other with mutual incredulity over the other’s “behavior.”
Lan Ye rubbed her messy head, putting the strange dream aside for a moment. “How did I fall asleep?” Her brain slowly started to piece together what happened. “You bit me!”
Lan Ye reached for her neck, but the skin was smooth with no marks. Strange, she remembered the skin being broken. She tried to look back, but there were no marks on her shoulder either. She remembered being bitten there too.
Ju Rin: “You were dreaming.” The implication was that it wasn’t real.
Lan Ye was astonished, muttering to herself: “That was a dream too?” She looked at the bed, then at the strange pajamas she was wearing. “What’s this? Who dressed me? How did I fall asleep?”
She remembered getting into bed to be the “1.” She tried to recall initially, she had pinned Rin down, but then it seemed she was the one pinned. So, she failed to be the “1” and ended up the “0” again? That didn’t seem right either. Lan Ye checked her body, she felt nothing.
She looked at Rin: “What did we do?”
Ju Rin: “Nothing. You fell asleep as soon as you got in bed.”
Lan Ye was shocked: “How is that possible?”
Ju Rin gave a serious explanation: “Pregnant women are prone to lethargy.” She had read this in the pregnancy care notes while the human was asleep.
Lan Ye: “Lethargy?” She didn’t buy it. Even if a pregnant woman was tired, they didn’t just pass out instantly and wake up with scrambled memories. She suddenly remembered yesterday at the hospital, after she called the police, they suspected she had been mistreated by a beastman and mentioned that beastmen had the ability to paralyze humans, causing memory loss.
Lan Ye narrowed her eyes. This beastman definitely did something. “Are you okay now?” The beastman in front of her looked normal, showing no signs of distress.
Ju Rin nodded: “I’m fine.”
Lan Ye looked at her suspiciously. She suspected this woman had done something while she was out, but she had no evidence. “What time is it?”
Lan Ye looked out the window at the darkening sky. How long had she been asleep? She looked at her watch, but the screen wouldn’t light up. It seemed to be turned off. Out of battery? She held down the power button, and the watch flickered to life.
It wasn’t out of battery, it had been manually shut down. Once it was on, Lan Ye saw a string of missed calls, all from Lan Shan and Yao Li.
