After Becoming An Internet Sensation For Pretending To Be An Alpha, I Turned Into An Omega - Chapter 20
A Crush?
So… Bai Yue had someone she liked before?
Could it be… could it possibly be that Bai Yue likes me?
Just thinking about this possibility made An Leng hide her face behind a file and chuckle quietly.
After composing herself, her trembling hands typed into the search bar: “How to tell if someone really likes someone else?”
The webpage listed clear steps:
First, determine who they like to hang out with the most.
Shi Xiaoxia.
Second, check whose photos appear most frequently in their social media posts.
Shi Xiaoxia…
Finally, see who they call late at night.
…Probably still Shi Xiaoxia.
An Leng pursed her lips in disgust, then noticed the related article at the bottom of the page: “The Third Greatest Illusion: She Likes Me”
An Leng: …She slammed down the mouse in anger.
Frustrated sigh.
Now, no matter what the truth was, she had no one to ask!
******
Wang Xi was overly cautious about such things.
Combined with what happened this morning, it made it impossible for Shi Xiaoxia to even try to probe the situation.
The time spent with her best friend flew by.
Bai Yue spent the afternoon turning her anxiety into appetite, practically devouring all the snacks Shi Xiaoxia had brought.
Ding—
Her phone rang. Bai Yue picked it up weakly, glanced at the message, and instantly sprang to life.
“What is it?”
“An Leng asked if I want to go out for dinner to celebrate the successful finals… She even made a reservation and said she’d drive over to pick me up.” Bai Yue handed her phone to Shi Xiaoxia.
Squinting to read the message, Shi Xiaoxia slapped her thigh excitedly. “Go! Of course you have to go! This is the perfect opportunity to test things out and maybe even get your stuff back!”
Seeing Bai Yue’s hesitant, cowardly look, Shi Xiaoxia gritted her teeth and decided to accompany her brave friend. “…Fine, I’ll go with you!”
Bai Yue started tidying up, but then decided that dressing up too carefully would be too obvious, so she changed back into her original clothes.
A car horn sounded downstairs—An Leng had arrived.
The two went downstairs together. As planned, Shi Xiaoxia immediately got into the passenger seat.
An Leng opened her mouth, a little dazed.
Because Bai Yue had given advance notice, the back door of the car wasn’t locked.
Bai Yue naturally settled into the back seat. As soon as the car started moving, Shi Xiaoxia immediately began chattering away.
But secretly, both of them were busy stealing glances under the car.
Halfway through the journey, she finally received Shi Xiaoxia’s triumphant message:
[OK]
The note was hidden under the passenger seat. While Shi Xiaoxia pretended to tie her shoelaces, she retrieved it. The whole time, Bai Yue kept watch, while An Leng remained oblivious.
They ate at a casual restaurant. Bai Yue looked around; it didn’t seem like the kind of place that required reservations.
The food was decent enough, and with Shi Xiaoxia there, the three-person table didn’t feel awkward.
They got home early.
Bai Yue carefully tucked the hard-won notes into her diary and stored it away.
With the deed done, she had no intention of bringing it up again. Deciding not to dwell on it, she went to bed early.
Meanwhile, An Leng parked the car.
Leaning down, she confirmed the paper was gone.
Mentally noting Shi Xiaoxia’s actions, she took out her phone and opened the reservation app for the restaurant she hadn’t gone to. She requested a refund.

The magazine shoot was outdoors, and Bai Yue had to change into five outfits, each with its own hair and makeup style.
Even though Bai Yue had gone to bed early, she still felt tired. The gentle rocking of the chauffeured van almost made her fall asleep again.
“We’ll speed up the shoot later,” Wang Xi said casually. “An Leng will join you for the last two outfits.”
“…What did you say?!” Bai Yue jolted awake, her sleepiness instantly vanished.
Wang Xi looked at her blankly. “I told you yesterday,” she said matter-of-factly. “It’s for publicity.”
Bai Yue put her head in her hands. She’d been so focused on her nerves and those few sheets of paper yesterday that everything Wang Xi said had gone in one ear and out the other.
“She’s not even an actress…” Bai Yue muttered under her breath.
“More attention for her is good for the company,” Wang Xi shrugged. She handed Bai Yue a coffee and a sandwich from the back seat.
An iced Americano—good for waking her up and cutting calories.
Bai Yue sipped the bitter coffee, daydreaming about sweet candy.
The shoot’s theme was the currently popular retro Hong Kong style.
Unlike previous shoots, three of the outfits were dresses.
“…Are you sure about this?” Bai Yue pointed at the dark red silk dress.
Since she’d debuted, she’d never worn a dress.
She’d worn dresses before, but she always ended up looking too sweet and not fierce enough.
“Trust me, you can totally pull this off!” the stylist interjected before Wang Xi could say anything.
The first two outfits were a clashing-color shirt and a tailored blazer.
The stylist paired her with a pair of round sunglasses, the lenses no larger than bottle caps, complementing the classic red, yellow, and blue scene. The final look was striking.
The third outfit began with dresses.
The first dress she tried on was a black satin wide-strap dress.
The tight fit accentuated her figure, and since the dress was black, the stylist chose a bright red lipstick. Her hair was gently curled and topped with a beret.
The stylist also added pearl earrings and a necklace.
By the time they finished with all three outfits, it was already noon.
Wang Xi brought water and snacks over.
Bai Yue was exhausted from the morning’s styling and couldn’t eat a bite.
She had assumed the red dress would be saved for last, but surprisingly, it was the first outfit after the break.
The red dress was made of similar fabric to the black one, but it had off-the-shoulder straps.
The stylist braided her hair with a silk scarf this time, keeping the accessories much simpler than before.
Yet when Bai Yue stood before the mirror, she still felt utterly uncomfortable.
“I’m sure the fans will go wild when the final video comes out!” the stylist gushed, clearly thrilled with her work.
“…You’re sure they won’t explode from shock instead?” Bai Yue asked Wang Xi, her tone serious.
Wang Xi stroked her chin, deep in thought.
Bai Yue’s eyes lit up. “So? Are we scrapping this look?”
“…Fans seem to love the alluring yet classy older sister vibe,” Wang Xi said, shaking her head. “I was just wondering, between you and An Leng, who’s more…”
Before she could finish, someone knocked on the dressing room door.
“Come in,” Wang Xi called out.
A staff member entered. “Sis Xi, are we all set here?”
Bai Yue turned around and froze.
An Leng had arrived at some point and was now standing by the door, fully dressed.
She wore a deep navy, V-neck gown with white trim along the hem, striking a balance between sensuality and elegance. Her long black hair cascaded in loose waves.
Bai Yue’s gaze dropped, and she swallowed hard.
She might finally understand how others feel when they see her in a dress…
