- After Becoming a Scummy Alpha, I Became a Slave to My Beloved Wife
- Chapter 55 (END OF MAIN STORY)
The car came to a stop at an abandoned garage in the middle of nowhere. The driver opened the back door with feigned politeness and gestured for them to get out.
“Chairman Yan inviting me to a place like this—someone who doesn’t know might think we’re here to talk business. But someone who does know… might suspect this is about silencing witnesses,” Jiang Nian joked lightly, though her eyes swept the surroundings with growing unease.
Qiao Wenyu followed closely behind Jiang Nian. She shot a glance at the driver from the corner of her eye. The driver’s eyes flickered, then he silently turned and led the way ahead, saying nothing more.
Jiang Nian followed warily. Once inside the garage, she discovered that the dilapidated structure still had a basement—likely once designed to serve as an underground parking lot, but now turned into a naturally enclosed space.
The driver pushed open a large iron door with a harsh, grating screech that sent a chill down her spine.
Once inside, blinding white lights beamed directly from above. Jiang Nian raised her hand to block the glare and slowly forced her eyes open.
A stern and authoritative voice rang out.
“You’re late…”
Once her vision cleared, Jiang Nian saw Yan Zhong seated in the main chair, dressed in black, towering over them.
“Chairman Yan, the media were relentless. That’s why we were delayed,” the driver explained humbly, his head bowed.
Yan Zhong stood up without a word, gripping the chair for support. He pulled a short leather whip from his sleeve and, with a swift motion, lashed it across the driver’s face.
“I told you to finish the task within half an hour. If you fail, you take the consequences.”
The driver’s head snapped to the side, but he took the blow without resistance. A vivid red welt appeared across his cheek.
Jiang Nian was stunned. Her spine prickled with cold as she watched, a flicker of fear surfacing in her eyes as she looked at Yan Zhong.
At that moment, Qiao Wenyu stepped behind her, gently placing a hand on Jiang Nian’s waist. She whispered soothingly into her ear, “Xiao Nian, I’m here.”
Some of Jiang Nian’s fear dissipated. The intimidation she’d felt standing before Yan Zhong began to fade.
“Chairman Yan, why did you summon us here?” Jiang Nian asked, staring him straight in the eye. Her hand, hidden behind her back, gripped Qiao Wenyu’s tightly. With that support, she no longer feared meeting the gaze of such a cruel man.
Yan Zhong didn’t even spare her a glance. He sat back down in his rattan chair, took a smoking pipe handed to him by an aide, and inhaled slowly before speaking.
“My daughter, your recent actions have been quite bold.”
Qiao Wenyu remained silent.
Yan Zhong showed no anger. Rising amidst the swirling smoke, he walked up to Jiang Nian and Qiao Wenyu.
“I originally thought that bankrupting the Jiang family’s company would cause you two to split up. I didn’t expect you not only stayed together but even had the audacity to mortgage your newly registered company for the Jiang family’s sake?”
“Father, you never let me be happy. Am I supposed to live under your control for my entire life?” Qiao Wenyu said coldly, her eyes dark with resolve.
Yan Zhong flung the smoking pipe to the floor. His expression twisted, veins bulging on his forehead.
“If it weren’t for you… I could’ve realized my dream long ago. Your birth—your entire existence—is just like your mother’s: a mistake. How could I possibly let you live well? How could I let you rise above me?”
Over the years, Qiao Wenyu had come to understand why her father treated her this way. It all traced back to Yan Zhong’s past—an illegitimate daughter born in his youth, whose arrival drove away his legitimate wife, costing him valuable political backing.
“I said to complete the task within half an hour. If you mess up, you take responsibility.”
The driver’s head jerked to the side under the lash, but he didn’t resist. A vivid red welt bloomed across his face.
Jiang Nian stared in stunned silence, a chill crawling down her spine. A flicker of fear passed through her eyes as she looked at Yan Zhong.
Just then, Qiao Wenyu stepped behind Jiang Nian, placed a steadying hand on her waist, and whispered softly into her ear, “Xiao Nian, I’m here.”
Jiang Nian’s anxiety eased slightly. Her fear of facing Yan Zhong faded with Qiao Wenyu by her side.
“Chairman Yan, may I ask why you brought us here?” Jiang Nian met Yan Zhong’s gaze directly, her hand tightly clutching Qiao Wenyu’s behind her back. With that strength, she no longer feared facing such a cruel man.
Yan Zhong didn’t look her in the eye. He settled back into his rattan chair, took the smoking pipe handed to him by an aide, and took a slow, deliberate puff before speaking.
“My daughter, your recent actions have been quite bold.”
Qiao Wenyu remained silent.
Yan Zhong didn’t get angry. He rose through the swirling smoke and stepped toward the two women.
“I thought bankrupting the Jiang family’s company would force you two to split. I never expected not only would you stay together, but that you’d dare to mortgage your newly registered company to support the Jiangs?”
“Father, you never let me be happy. Am I meant to live under your control forever?” Qiao Wenyu’s tone was grave, her eyes dark and solemn.
Yan Zhong flung the smoking pipe to the ground. His face twisted in rage, veins bulging on his temples.
“If not for you… I would have achieved my dreams long ago. Your birth—your very existence—like your mother’s, was a mistake! Do you think I’d ever let you live well? Let you rise above me?”
Over the years, Qiao Wenyu had come to understand why her father treated her this way. It all started when Yan Zhong, in his youth, carelessly fathered an illegitimate daughter—her. The scandal drove away his lawful wife, costing him the powerful backing of her family.
For someone as ambitious as Yan Zhong, who dreamed of building a commercial empire under the Yan name, that alliance was indispensable.
“But weren’t you the one who caused all this? As a father and a husband, you failed. You’re insane,” Qiao Wenyu said coldly, each word cutting into him like a blade.
Yan Zhong froze for a moment, then covered part of his face and let out a low, chilling laugh. His shoulders trembled uncontrollably, as if he’d gone mad.
“I once thought erasing you from this world would be a mercy. But now, it’s clear—I must destroy you. My daughter, your threat to me has long surpassed my expectations. I thought dumping you into the entertainment industry with no support would crush you. But instead… so many little ants dared to help you.”
The hostile exchange between father and daughter left Jiang Nian completely at a loss.
But Yan Zhong made the first move.
He waved at his men, and one of the black-clad enforcers immediately pinned Jiang Nian down.
Jiang Nian, a top-tier Alpha, had strength and stamina far beyond the average person. She reacted instantly, trying to suppress her assailant with a surge of pheromones.
Yan Zhong sneered. “My men are all elite. They also receive regular physical enhancements. Do you really think your little dose of pheromones will work here?”
The scent of red wine—Jiang Nian’s signature Alpha pheromone—was quickly overwhelmed by a pungent odor of dried grass. It was still unmistakably a high-ranking Alpha’s scent, but there was something disturbingly off about it. People said that only when an Alpha’s vital signs were nearing collapse would their pheromones reek of rot and decay.
Unfortunately, Jiang Nian had no time to reflect on it further. Overwhelmed by the forceful pheromones pressing down on her, she couldn’t even lift her head.
Qiao Wenyu’s eyes widened in panic as she snapped at Yan Zhong, her voice almost cracking, “What are you trying to do?!”
“Before I deal with you, I thought I’d give you a little gift,” Yan Zhong said coldly. Pointing at Jiang Nian, he ordered, “Remove her gland. Let it serve as your burial offering.”
Jiang Nian stared up in disbelief, her voice trembling with rage and horror. “You wouldn’t dare!”
“What wouldn’t I dare do, hmm?” Yan Zhong replied lazily, settling back into his chair like an amused spectator. “Qiao Wenyu, remember this—anyone who gets close to you will suffer. That girl, Tong Qiu, wasn’t an exception either.”
“You—” Qiao Wenyu’s brows furrowed. “Wasn’t I the one you were trying to push into the water that day?”
“Even if she hadn’t switched clothes with you, I still would’ve dealt with her. I simply handled it earlier than planned. Don’t worry. Being pushed into the water wasn’t so bad. My men made sure she sank quickly—no suffering.”
As he spoke, Yan Zhong watched the pain contort his daughter’s face. The more anguish she showed, the more pleased he seemed to become.
The scent of red wine—Jiang Nian’s signature pheromone—was suddenly overwhelmed by a musty, withered-grass smell. It was still unmistakably that of a top-tier Alpha, but something was disturbingly off about it. People said that only when an Alpha’s life signs were nearing collapse would their pheromones begin to carry the scent of decay and rot.
Unfortunately, Jiang Nian had no time to think further. She was already being crushed by the oppressive wave of pheromones, barely able to lift her head.
Qiao Wenyu, frantic, glared at Yan Zhong. Her voice cracked as she shouted, “What are you trying to do?!”
“Before I get rid of you,” Yan Zhong said, pointing at Jiang Nian, “I thought I’d give you a parting gift. Cut out her gland. Let it be your burial offering.”
Jiang Nian couldn’t believe he’d truly gone mad. She lifted her head in disbelief. “You dare?”
“What wouldn’t I dare, hmm?” Yan Zhong leisurely settled back into his rattan chair like a man watching a play. “Qiao Wenyu, remember this—anyone who gets close to you ends up doomed. Wasn’t that girl, Tong Qiu, the same?”
“You—” Qiao Wenyu’s brows furrowed. “Weren’t you trying to push me into the water that day?”
“Even if she hadn’t swapped clothes with you, I would’ve dealt with her all the same. I just handled it early, that’s all. Don’t worry—my men made sure she sank quickly. There was no pain.”
As he spoke, he noticed the anguish on his daughter’s face. The more she hurt, the more satisfied he seemed to become.
“Don’t touch her! If you lay a finger on her, I’ll—” Qiao Wenyu couldn’t bear to see Jiang Nian harmed. But before she could act, Yan Zhong’s men had already restrained her.
Jiang Nian watched the man in black approach with a blade. She lowered her head, accepting her fate. In the original story, Jiang Nian’s gland had been destroyed. Was it really happening now?
So this was fate—inescapable, after all.
The man plunged the knife downward.
The tearing of flesh sent a jolt of searing pain through Jiang Nian. She couldn’t even scream. Cold sweat drenched her as she bit down hard on her lip.
“No—!” Qiao Wenyu screamed.
Just as the blade was about to cut into the gland, the iron door burst open.
Flashing red and blue lights flooded the basement as a team of police officers stormed in.
“Hands up! Don’t move!” the lead officer shouted, signaling his team to subdue the men in black.
Yan Zhong stared at them in disbelief. “Impossible…” In that instant, he realized someone on his team had betrayed him.
The driver stepped forward from behind him, still touching the red welt on his cheek. He removed a small Bluetooth earpiece from his ear and held it up.
“It was recording everything in real-time, Chairman Yan. I made good use of the ‘gift’ you gave me.”
Yan Zhong’s eyes widened. “Aren’t you afraid?”
“You’ve got my family in your hands? Of course I’m afraid. But don’t forget—there are still good people in this world. I pledged my loyalty to Miss Qiao a long time ago.”
He handed the earpiece to the police. As he passed Qiao Wenyu, he gave her a slight bow. “Thank you, Miss, for protecting my family.”
Blood poured from the wound on Jiang Nian’s neck where her gland had been slashed. Her vision blurred to white, and then she passed out.
Two weeks later.
Jiang Nian’s gland had only suffered a minor laceration. After recovering, she was discharged from the hospital. As she stepped outside, she saw Qiao Wenyu waiting for her by the door.
After a few brief words, Jiang Nian finally smiled.
As the saying goes: good things come in pairs. With Yan Zhong now behind bars, more truths came to light. The entire Yan family’s corruption was exposed in full.
Carrying the weight of lives on his hands, Yan Zhong would now spend the rest of his days paying for his sins.
When Jiang Nian heard the news, she finally exhaled in relief.
“Jiejie, your life can finally see clear skies again.”
Qiao Wenyu shook her head softly. “Xiao Nian… if I hadn’t met you, I might still have obeyed him, just because he was my biological father.”
Jiang Nian stepped forward and held her close. “Jiejie, let’s just live well together.”
Qiao Wenyu smiled faintly. “Thank you, Xiao Nian. You’ve given me so much courage.”
“Not at all. If anything, you’ve given me courage,” Jiang Nian said.
Their manager popped her head out from the van. “Alright, you two—save the public display of affection for inside the van. We’re going to be late for the show taping.”
“What show is it?” Jiang Nian asked, still unaware of the next item on the schedule.
Qiao Wenyu pulled her into the nanny van.
“Jiejie?”
Qiao Wenyu raised a finger to her lips. “Shh. Get in.”
Jiang Nian kept pressing, “What kind of show is it? Why do I have to go?”
“Think about it,” Qiao Wenyu teased.
“A variety show? Don’t tell me it’s another dating one!”
“Why would I go on a dating show when I already have a partner, you silly pup.”
Jiang Nian wrapped her arms around Qiao Wenyu and looked up with sparkling eyes. “Jiejie… is it going to be public?”
“Mmm. Not completely clueless after all.” Qiao Wenyu tapped her on the nose.
Soon, the van arrived at the set of Entertainment Gossip. The featured guests for that episode were Qiao Wenyu and Jiang Nian, who were going to publicly reveal their relationship.
During the interview, the two sat side by side, recounting their journey for the camera.
Qiao Wenyu: “At first, our relationship was just a family arrangement. But beyond that… Jiang Nian made me feel what it’s like to be wholly protected and trusted by someone. I love her—yesterday, today, and every day that follows.”
Jiang Nian: “I’ll always be Jiejie’s little pup!”
The host burst out laughing.
“On behalf of Miss Qiao’s fans, I wish you both a long and happy life together—may your love always stay warm.”
