- Chapter 19 - Cross-dressing, A One-versus-Two Situation
“Finished changing?”
Wen Leling’s face was flushed with anger. He stomped heavily out of the bedroom with a rhythmic “thud, thud, thud,” putting on an air of someone who would not rest until the culprit behind this prank was caught. Little did he expect that luck would be against him from the start. He ran straight into Min Chi.
Min Chi had a cigarette dangling from his mouth. He looked Wen Leling up and down with an indifferent gaze, then raised an eyebrow and smiled with a light sigh: “Why have you not changed your clothes? Do you not like them?”
That smile sounded so grating.
Wen Leling also found it laughable. To think he had previously decided Min Chi was a kind-hearted person just because the man had helped him out of a jam. Looking at him now, there was clearly a reason those two hung out together. They were birds of a feather. It was highly likely they were both waiting here to see him make a fool of himself.
Wen Leling clenched his fists, his displeasure deepening as his mind grew foggy with rage. He chewed his lower lip and took a long time to squeeze out a single sentence: “Did you guys buy this?”
Did they buy it just to tease him?
“Hmm?”
“No, why would we buy that? That is your work uniform. Naturally, the staff at the White Tower bought it for you.”
Min Chi leaned against the wall and shrugged his shoulders. Although he was logically distancing himself, he looked incredibly punchable, and his tone was enough to make anyone’s blood boil.
The credibility was near zero. Wen Leling would not believe it. He did not think a responsible staff member, upon learning a mission required a Guide to cross-dress, would choose to act first and report later rather than discussing it beforehand.
But in a 1v2 situation, what could he say? What did he even dare to say?
“I am not wearing it,” Wen Leling struggled.
Seeming not to notice Wen Leling’s anger, Min Chi continued to grin: “That will not do. If you do not wear it, the mission cannot proceed.”
? Wen Leling looked as if he had been struck by lightning, his expression freezing.
This time, noticing his confusion, Min Chi stopped ignoring him and asked with a smile: “Have you not researched the suspect yet? He is famously cunning and quite hard to catch. If we do not exploit his habit of releasing toxins to induce women to bear his offspring, we basically have zero chance of winning.”
“So, we can only ask you to sacrifice a little, Guide Wen.”
As he spoke, the smile on his face suddenly turned solemn, like winter frost. His speaking speed became extremely slow and heavy as he continued: “Do you want to go back and change obediently yourself, or do you want me to help you change? Pick one.”
“I, I!” Wen Leling was fuming, his breathing becoming heavy and rapid as anger choked his throat.
A triumphant smile curled the corners of Min Chi’s lips, but it was quickly suppressed, leaving only a lingering hint of mischief in his eyes. He approached Wen Leling step by step, his cool fingertips first pinching the youth’s cheek before slowly moving down to stroke his porcelain-white neck.
Wen Leling recoiled violently, his ears flattening back before popping back up. He turned and dove into the bedroom, slamming the door shut.
He has quite a temper. But indeed, as those guys said, he looks very much like Lele.
Could he be?
Unfortunately, because their relationship involved certain interests, Lele never dared to lose his temper with them openly. He would only show an unknown side in private, trying hard to act fierce while scolding them harshly. Perhaps he would even use some objects as substitutes to give them a sound beating.
Min Chi leaned against the wall, lost in thought. On a whim, he returned to his bedroom and came back with a pair of red high heels just as Wen Leling finished changing and walked out.
His face was beautiful and exquisite, his eyes clever and clear. Innocence was shot through with coquettishness. A red bandeau long dress accentuated his enchanting figure, perfectly blending purity and seduction. He looked like a little princess who had wandered into the human world by mistake.
Min Chi stared blankly.
The livestream images and the reality before him overlapped in his mind. They seemed to be a perfect match. He froze on the spot, his eyes vacant for a long time before he found his focus again, by which time Wen Leling had already distanced himself.
He clutched the high heels and dashed a few steps to catch up. Feeling like he had just lost face and needed to salvage it, he put on a fierce expression and said: “You look a lot like someone I know.”
Dead silence.
Wen Leling ignored him. Min Chi would catch up just to say something, then leave it unfinished, asking nonsensical things. Trying to analyze if there was some deep hidden meaning was harder than climbing to heaven, making one want to flee the scene.
Meanwhile, Min Chi was completely immersed in his own self-expression. It was not that he did not notice the cold atmosphere, he simply did not care. After letting the silence linger for a while, he said to himself: “They say so too.”
Who?
It could not be his three teammates, right?
“He is a small streamer. We all like him very much. To fight for the top donor spot, we would stay in the Tower’s livestreaming room every day to give him many gifts. Later, even he could not stand it anymore and treated us all as his top donors.”
“He is very popular. Do you want to guess who it is? You might have even come across him.”
His tone shifted from playful to sounding like an impromptu interactive question meant to break the dead silence. However, Wen Leling sharply captured the subtle testing hidden within the words.
His face turned bright red. If Min Chi found out he was Lele, considering his livestream content, it would be the same as being stripped bare and standing in front of him.
I cannot acknowledge him!
Wen Leling took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and brushed past him like a desperate gambler.
“Wait a minute.”
A large hand firmly blocked his shoulder, pressing down so hard that Wen Leling’s body sank. A chill spread from his shoulder. He could not help but take a sharp breath and hold it, opening his eyes helplessly. He nearly gritted his teeth as he squeezed three words out: “What is it?”
Min Chi lifted the high heels and shook them in front of him: “Put them on.”
A hint of an uncontainable smile was wrapped in his final tone. It hit Wen Leling’s face, making him frown and lean his head back to distance himself from the heels. However, he could not escape the choice of whether to wear them or not.
If he did not wear them, Min Chi would certainly not let him go easily. If he did…
Wen Leling’s brow furrowed. He pursed his lips and remained silent for a moment before letting out a soft sigh. The hesitation in his eyes gradually drained away, replaced by the bitterness of having to submit to fate. He silently took the shoes from Min Chi’s hand.
His slender, bamboo-like hands lifted the hem of the dress, revealing a pair of long legs as delicate as flower branches. He ducked down, his leg flesh bunching together. It looked smooth and soft, making one want to reach out and pinch it.
He changed into the high heels. His small feet, with visible bones and veins, were perfectly encased. He wore the nude stockings Min Chi had brought later. His feet were very thin and small, looking slender. He took step after step forward, walking a bit awkwardly.
The heels are too high.
Wen Leling was worried about a sprain. He made a point to walk while leaning against the wall, but he still accidentally twisted his ankle.
“Pfft.” A laugh came from behind him.
!?
What are you laughing at?
Wen Leling’s face was instantly covered in blush. It felt as if countless small insects were crawling over him, and he desperately wanted to sink into the ground.
Min Chi walked backward with one hand in his pocket, his eyebrow arching slightly: “Guide Wen, do you need me to give you a hand?”
Wen Leling felt his mind was in a mess. He twitched the corners of his mouth and said with a forced smile: “No need.” Afterward, he walked toward the door without looking aside.
Watching his back, a moment of clarity appeared in Min Chi’s heart. But he did not jump to conclusions early. He stood still for a few minutes, then jogged to catch up with Wen Leling and asked:
“Did Fu Tingchuan tell you that joining the team means you do not have to help us with energy regulation?”
Wen Leling did not want to use his brain and simply answered: “Yes.”
“That is fine. Then what about not being responsible for other Sentinels’ matters during our cooperation period? Has that been mentioned?”
Wen Leling fell into thought: “No.”
“No?” Min Chi asked in a low voice as if talking to himself: “If not, then we will talk about it another day.”
Xiao Wenye was driving. After the navigation stopped in front of a coffee shop, a non-organic electronic voice came from the communicator:
“Target person detected. Camera locked. Person in charge, please check in time.”
A figure was immediately projected above the watch face. A man was looking around warily, possessing an obvious suspect aura.
The three followed the man all the way until late at night.
At the entrance of the Jurlit nightclub, while waiting for Min Chi to process the membership, Wen Leling was so sleepy that his head drooped several times. While half-asleep, he seemed to hear Xiao Wenye say: “Being this sleepy, can we expect him to complete the mission alive?”
Min Chi seemed to reply: “Did you ever plan on letting him live?”
But since he was not clear-headed at the time, Wen Leling did not take it seriously and entered the nightclub to prepare for action.
His mission was to lure the target into booking a room with him, then use mental energy to control the target when he was off guard. In theory, he did not need Xiao Wenye or Min Chi at all. He did not know what the White Tower sent these two for. To cause trouble? To make the mission more challenging?
He did not understand.
Wen Leling sat at the bar. Perhaps because he had drunk a bit much, his head was a little messy. His bright and moving small face was flushed with a drunken mist. His light brows complemented his soft eyes. Under the direct light, his skin appeared even more fine and smooth like warm jade, glowing with a soft luster. Two locks of hair by his cheeks gently brushed his face with the breeze, adding a bit of seductive charm. Those flexible eyes were now covered with a thin layer of intoxication, holding a bit of cold sharpness and a bit of soft, hazy warmth.
Slap!
Wen Leling was bowing his head to straighten his collar when his buttocks were suddenly slapped. He jumped up as if scalded by boiling water, guarding his buttocks and looking around to catch the pervert!
His gaze landed on the man behind him. His lips, which looked like newly blossomed red tassels, parted slightly, but he was too startled to speak.
It was the target! A Spider Sentinel.
“A glass of plum wine for this beautiful lady.” The Spider Sentinel pulled out the chair next to Wen Leling and approached him in several perceptible steps: “You look a bit unhappy. Are you alone?”
Wen Leling connected to the lines he could recite backward: “Yes, I am so lonely, sir.”
Although his tone was wavy, he managed it very well, making his voice sound like it was soaked in honey.
The Spider Sentinel laughed without any restraint: “Is that so?”
“You are so beautiful. To think no one has come to talk to you while sitting here?”
This question was not in the database. Wen Leling could only smile without speaking. Fortunately, the Sentinel was only focused on his own offensive and continued: “It seems the people present tonight do not have very good taste.”
“Perhaps, this is fate? Being able to meet you here is truly a blessing from my past three lives.”
Cheesy.
Wen Leling’s scalp felt numb.
“I wonder if this beautiful lady is willing to spend this spring night with me?”
