After A Secret Marriage With The Trending Queen - Chapter 39
Chapter 39
After a struggle, she finally managed to coax her to sleep. Ye Qin finally breathed a sigh of relief. Looking at the person sleeping in her arms, so quiet like a fluffy little rabbit, she couldn’t help but want to reach out and touch her, to feel her. Just as her finger touched Shen Lu’s cheek, Shen Lu moved, startling Ye Qin, who quickly pulled her hand back, thinking she had woken up. She later realized it was just a false alarm. Looking around, the small room was neatly organized, except for the casually placed empty bottles from today. Maybe she had been suppressing her emotions for too long and finally found a chance to let go. Ye Qin could understand that feeling.
Her fingers ran through her hair, their movements incredibly gentle. “You’re right, you never should have been dragged into these things…”
After a while, Ye Qin realized she was just talking to herself and was amused by it. It was getting late, and she should head upstairs. She carefully moved Shen Lu back onto the bed. Just as she was slowly getting up, two arms reached out from below and held her waist tightly. Ye Qin was startled, but the person below her held her even tighter. There was no way for her to escape. She then gave a small laugh and murmured, as if to herself and to Shen Lu, “I’m going to take this as you deliberately trying to keep me here.”
The person below her didn’t move at all. It seemed she had fallen into an even deeper sleep. Ye Qin, half-propped up, was starting to get tired. She had no choice but to lie down beside her, letting her hold her waist tightly without letting go. As the night deepened, she was so tired her eyelids felt heavy until they finally closed.
The two of them slept in this position until dawn. Shen Lu was the first to wake up. Due to her professional habits, even though she was dead drunk last night, she would reflexively wake up from bed as soon as it was her usual time to get up. Only this time… she saw Ye Qin on her bed. Shen Lu was dazed for a moment. She carefully looked at the room’s layout again. It was her room, all right, but why was Ye Qin here?
Her sudden movements woke Ye Qin up. “Is it morning already?” was the first thing Ye Qin said.
But Shen Lu was concerned about why they were in the same bed. Looking at Ye Qin’s reaction now, she didn’t seem surprised at all.
Just then, the doorbell rang. Shen Lu went to check. The person at the door was Shen Jing. She opened the door a crack and poked her head out. “Why are you here so early?”
Shen Jing instinctively covered his nose. “Sis, what did you do last night? I can smell the alcohol all the way from the doorway.”
Shen Lu quietly sniffed her own clothes, her expression a bit complex as she frowned. “I… I drank a little, but what of it? Hurry up and tell me, why are you here so early in the morning?”
“So fierce,” Shen Jing grumbled. “I see you turn into a little lamb every time you’re in front of Sister Qin, but with me, you’re a mother tiger.”
Shen Lu rolled her eyes at him, showing what little patience she had left.
“I went for a morning run and was going to bring back some breakfast. What do you want to eat?”
“Are you really that nice?” Shen Lu was skeptical.
“Of course. The heavens can testify, the sun and moon can bear witness!”
Shen Lu lingered at the door for a while before coming back in. Ye Qin was getting ready to leave and casually asked, “Was that Shen Jing just now?”
Shen Lu nodded. “That kid is going to bring me breakfast. The sun must have risen from the west.” She then gave her a silly grin.
Ye Qin thought, it seems she really doesn’t remember what happened last night… “I don’t have a shoot this afternoon. How about we go back to A City to see Grandma together?”
“Huh?” Shen Lu was a bit dazed. She didn’t hear wrong, did she?
“I’ve already made the arrangements. You take care of everything else.” Ye Qin said with a straight face, but after walking past Shen Lu, she quietly smiled.
Shen Lu gazed foolishly at her back. Only after hearing the door close and being sure she had left did she snap back to reality. She felt like something was different, but she couldn’t put her finger on it. But it seemed her heart didn’t ache as much anymore. Why did she drink last night again? Shen Lu was about to forget that pain.
…
“You’re going back with Shen Lu?” Wang Lin was very surprised.
Ye Qin put on her face mask without changing her expression. “Yeah.”
“But, why now, at this crucial moment…”
Ye Qin’s movements paused for a second, as if she was seriously thinking about the answer to that question. “Shen Lu has been under a lot of pressure lately. I’m taking her back to relax. Actually, the main reason is that I haven’t seen Grandma in a long time.”
“Ye Qin, tell me the truth, you’re not going to…”
Before she could finish, Ye Qin firmly denied it. “I’m not… and I won’t.”
After wrapping up at the set for lunch, Ye Qin and Shen Lu set off for A City. Shen Jing drove them to the airport. On the way, Shen Jing was still saying, “I’m so jealous of you, sis. Your own wife is your boss, so you can even take a vacation from work. Unlike me, who has to suffer, suffer.”
“Then why don’t you find a boss to be your wife too?” Shen Lu teased with a laugh.
Ye Qin coughed a few times, covering half her face, which was hot and flushed.
“Oh, don’t even get me started. After I found out that a girl I liked online was actually a cross-dressing guy, I lost interest in girls for a long time.” The moment the words left his mouth, Shen Jing realized he had said the wrong thing. He quickly covered his mouth, pretending he hadn’t said anything at all.
After entering the airport lobby, Shen Lu and Ye Qin quickly attracted a lot of attention. Fans who recognized Ye Qin followed them, greeting them and taking photos. Ye Qin, however, wasn’t in a hurry to get away as she usually was. Instead, she leisurely strolled around, asking for Shen Lu’s opinion, “What kind of gift do you think we should get for Grandma?”
Shen Lu glanced at the enthusiastic fans outside the duty-free shop windows, feeling a bit awkward. It was truly rare for Ye Qin to be able to shop so calmly in a situation like this. “I think Grandma would probably like this one more.”
Shen Lu accompanied her like this, shopping until just thirty minutes before their flight. They then hurriedly grabbed their things and headed for the boarding gate. The fans were in for a treat, following them and taking many photos and videos.
“Sis, you’re in a good mood today,” Shen Lu said, sitting next to her.
Ye Qin, wearing sunglasses, moved her eyebrows. “Am I?”
Shen Lu nodded. “Normally you wouldn’t have the patience to shop at an airport.”
At that, Ye Qin couldn’t help but smile, asking in return, “What about you? Are you happy today?”
“Happy…” Shen Lu answered without a second thought. This was the first time she had felt so relaxed when spending time with her.
As long as you’re happy, then this trip was not for nothing.
Grandma had received the news that her two granddaughters were coming back early that morning. She was busy telling the auntie at the house to buy groceries and prepare a big meal, her spirits high. For an elderly person like her, the happiest time was when the family could reunite and be together.
When Ye Qin and Shen Lu arrived at A City airport in the afternoon, the company sent a car to pick them up, taking them directly to Ye Qin’s grandma’s place. It was very convenient. Sitting in the car and looking at the streets that were so familiar they couldn’t be any more familiar, Shen Lu’s mood relaxed considerably. She was no longer as nervous as she had been the first time she went to Ye Qin’s grandma’s place, because Grandma was a very kind and approachable person, and there was nothing to be afraid of.
“We’re here,” Ye Qin said.
The car was now parked downstairs from the apartment building.
“Are you ready?” she asked, looking at Shen Lu.
