Chapter 9: Housewife
Two more days passed, and Tang Yiqing finally stopped suffering from the physical torture; the discomfort brought by the pheromones subsided, though it hadn’t stabilized and remained very sensitive.
Having shaken off the physical misery, Tang Yiqing got out of bed. His head was currently dizzy and his body lacked strength, but compared to the two days when he was most affected by the pheromones, he was much better.
Some time ago, Father and Mother Shen had gone abroad, so there would be no one on the fourth floor—it was exactly the right time for him to go.
Actually, he had always wanted to go up, but he was afraid of running into his parents-in-law. Not only would it be troublesome if they asked questions, they might even personally conduct an exam on him. If they discovered his pheromone state, they would likely urge Shen Mingzheng to sleep with him again, and Shen Mingzheng would attribute it all to Tang Yiqing saying something behind his back, resulting in more cold mockery.
Even though his heart was as clear as a mirror and he was very firm, being subjected to long-term cold mockery was still very uncomfortable; he didn’t want to hear those words at all.
The fourth-floor corridor was carpeted. Both Father and Mother Shen were people who preferred quiet, so they had implemented many soundproofing measures on the fourth floor. Standing there now felt like entering another dimension; aside from the sound of feet on the carpet, there was no other noise.
He walked to the end of the corridor and stood before the door of the instrument room. This was the dedicated place for the Shen family’s check-ups and treatments. He had only been to the fourth floor twice: once when Mother Shen called him up for a heart-to-heart, and once when he first entered the family and Mother Shen helped him with a physical exam.
People in families like theirs were relatively familiar with common medical instruments, and Tang Yiqing knew how to operate simple daily equipment. This was his third time on the fourth floor, and he couldn’t help but feel a bit nervous; he always felt the fourth floor was far too cold and solemn.
He pressed his hand on the handle and pushed down. Tang Yiqing opened the door, and then his body froze—to his surprise, there was actually someone there.
Lying on the diagnostic equipment, Shen Shuowen opened his eyes. His upper body was bare, and sensor patches from the monitoring equipment were attached to his skin. The incandescent light fell on his sturdy body, making his rising and falling muscles glint with a cold luster.
Their eyes met. Tang Yiqing locked onto those deep, cold pupils. His heart tightened, and his face gradually heated up. He timidly shifted his gaze away from the exposed torso. At the same time, he smelled the scent of Shuowen’s pheromones; given their identities, he felt it was somewhat inappropriate for them to run into each other at this moment.
“S-sorry, I didn’t know you were here, Big Brother,” Tang Yiqing said.
Shen Shuowen sat up, removed the patches from his body, and stood up to put on his shirt. “It’s fine.”
“I disturbed you, didn’t I? You keep using it, I’ll head back first,” Tang Yiqing said, turning to leave in a hurry.
Shen Shuowen had already stood up. “It’s okay, I’m already done. Come in.”
Tang Yiqing’s figure paused, his feet hesitating as if he were unsure whether to enter or not. Seeing him like this, Shen Shuowen couldn’t help but chuckle softly. “What, are you afraid I’m going to eat you?”
“Of course not…” Tang Yiqing replied immediately. Hearing him say that, he couldn’t be coy anymore, so he walked in.
“Are you feeling unwell?” Shen Shuowen asked.
Tang Yiqing nodded. “A little.”
Shen Shuowen approached. “Checking pheromones?”
Tang Yiqing was stunned for a moment, then nodded awkwardly. “Yes.”
When Tang Yiqing opened the door, Shen Shuowen had smelled the warm, melting pheromones on him—they seemed to carry a wave of heat. The pheromone sensation was very active, as if he had just finished a heat cycle recently…
Thinking about the time of his last heat, Shen Shuowen made a rough judgment and asked, “What kind of check-up do you want to do?”
Tang Yiqing’s face showed some embarrassment. This was his first time in the instrument room, and he was completely unfamiliar with the equipment here. He scanned the room and only recognized one or two, both of which were for basic physical health checks.
It seemed that several years of equipment upgrades had left him unrecognizable to the technology. Tang Yiqing said hesitantly, “I want to do a pheromone concentration test.”
Shen Shuowen said, “That test is very simple, but… if you want to do a pheromone analysis, you should use the precision instruments.”
Tang Yiqing was too embarrassed to say he didn’t know how to use the new diagnostic machines. The concentration test he mentioned only required a test kit. Seeing he couldn’t bluff his way through, he said, “I don’t really know how to use these…”
“If you don’t mind, I can help you,” Shen Shuowen said.
His face was expressionless, even appearing somewhat aloof, but at this moment, he gave Tang Yiqing a very reliable feeling.
Since he put it that way, Tang Yiqing had no reason to refuse. “Then… is that okay? Would it be too much trouble?”
Although he called him “Big Brother” as usual, they were, after all, an Alpha and an Omega. Checking pheromones was a relatively private thing, so it was a bit awkward.
Originally, it should have been his husband, Shen Mingzheng, accompanying him, but now only his husband’s brother was here offering help. Shuowen probably thought he was pitiable too.
“No trouble,” Shen Shuowen spoke in a level tone. He went to a drawer, took out a syringe, and walked back to Tang Yiqing. “I believe you should do a ten-point pheromone panel. What do you think?”
Tang Yiqing looked at the man who had already put on white gloves and was holding the syringe. His heart tightened slightly. Although it was framed as a question, Shen Shuowen gave the impression that what he suggested was right and absolutely trustworthy.
“Okay,” Tang Yiqing said.
Shen Shuowen moved behind Tang Yiqing, causing Tang Yiqing’s body to tense slightly. That faint scent of red wine was even clearer now. Shuowen must have been very close and focused; his breath brushed past the skin of Tang Yiqing’s nape.
Suddenly, fingertips pressed against the gland at the back of his neck. The icy touch made Tang Yiqing shiver. Then he felt the fingers pressing and kneading that area, repeatedly relaxing the muscles around the gland.
Tang Yiqing hadn’t expected there to be such a step. A tingling, numb sensation spread from the gland. The alternating light and heavy pressure made him feel a sense of unbearable yearning; he never knew that being pressed here could actually produce pleasure…
The scent of daisies in the air grew increasingly thick. Tang Yiqing covered his mouth, but a muffled groan still escaped involuntarily from his nose. He wasn’t sure if it was his imagination, but the scent of red wine also became more pronounced, entangling him thread by thread.
After about two minutes, the fingers behind him finally stopped. Following that was the sensation of a needle piercing the skin—like a mosquito bite, not painful.
The syringe was withdrawn. Tang Yiqing instinctively turned around to look at Shen Shuowen. The other man’s face was stern, like an aloof doctor. However, he wasn’t sure if the process of extracting pheromones was too troublesome, but he saw that the hair on Shen Shuowen’s forehead was damp; he must have sweated a lot.
Shen Shuowen’s gaze swept over the nervous Tang Yiqing. He turned and sat before the equipment, placing the blood sample—which had an extremely high pheromone content—into a test tube, then pushing it into the machine for testing. “Wait three minutes.”
Tang Yiqing nodded constrainedly. He stood to the side, his gaze occasionally falling on Shen Shuowen’s face. He noticed that the man’s gaze was somewhat distant, as if he were lost in thought.
Three minutes later, the test report came out. Shen Shuowen held the paper, scanning the results one by one. His expression became increasingly grave.
“None of your indicators are up to standard. At this stage, your pheromones are extremely active—equivalent to being in the middle of a heat cycle,” Shen Shuowen said.
Tang Yiqing’s face turned red at the statement. “I feel like it’s already passed…”
“That’s just because they haven’t been… soothed. The pheromones are merely latent,” Shen Shuowen said. “Furthermore, you have too many accumulated pheromones in your body. I’m afraid there’s a risk of going into heat at any moment.”
Tang Yiqing’s gaze wavered. In his shame, he didn’t dare look at Shen Shuowen. What Shuowen said was within his expectations, but he hadn’t realized it had reached such a severe degree. He felt as if Shen Shuowen had seen through everything.
Too many accumulated pheromones simply meant they hadn’t been properly released or soothed through affection… it could also be understood as a long-term lack of sexual activity…
“Is… is there any way to fix this…?” Tang Yiqing asked in a small voice.
He had no way. He believed Shen Shuowen had no way either. After all, his husband didn’t love him and wasn’t willing to harmonize pheromones with him. What could be done?
He only needed to hear Shen Shuowen say “There’s no way,” and then he could go downstairs calmly without Shuowen thinking he was an irresponsible person toward his own body.
Shen Shuowen was silent for a moment, then stood up and led Tang Yiqing to a piece of equipment. “You can use this instrument to extract some fluid from the reproductive chamber. After it’s tested, I will tell you the methods that can provide relief.”
Upon hearing those words, Tang Yiqing’s entire face turned bright red. He looked at the probe on the machine—it was about the thickness of an index finger—and felt completely unwell. He was so ashamed he could barely stand steady.
“Then… then maybe I won’t do it…” Tang Yiqing said, feeling his skin burning. “I feel like I’m fine now, so maybe I shouldn’t.”
Shen Shuowen’s brow furrowed slightly. He said seriously, “It seems you’ve never done this before. To my knowledge, this has been listed as a necessary item for Omega physical exams. It can deeply and accurately check the specific condition of pheromones, thereby giving better coping strategies based on symptoms.”
Tang Yiqing was momentarily stunned. Shen Shuowen’s aura was too strong, making him feel as though he didn’t dare refuse. Moreover, he sensed the other’s heavy air, as if he were angry that Yiqing didn’t know how to cherish his own body. He wasn’t sure if he was being sentimental, but regardless, he didn’t dare say no now.
“I know your concerns,” Shen Shuowen said. He picked up the probe. “I will tell you how to operate it, and then I will go outside. Tell me when you’re finished.”
Tang Yiqing watched his movements. Although it felt strange, Shen Shuowen’s actions were crisp and clean, with nothing that made him feel uncomfortable. Professional and calm. Tang Yiqing could only bite the bullet and keep listening.
Shen Shuowen didn’t give him a chance to refuse. Once he saw that Yiqing understood, he went straight out. Tang Yiqing looked at the chair as if he were looking at a torture device. He moved sluggishly to sit on the chair, took a deep breath, and placed each of his legs on the supports on either side. Just this step alone made him so ashamed he could hardly proceed, thinking about the upcoming penetration by the machine…
The probe continuously changed angles, bringing a suction-like pressure. Tang Yiqing was sprawled on the chair; before long, sweat had soaked his clothes. He had never known he was this sensitive; he was currently covering his mouth tightly, shaking uncontrollably.
About half an hour later, Tang Yiqing finally descended from the chair with trembling limbs, feeling a bit of numbness in his legs. If a doctor did this for a patient, it would take ten minutes at most. He had taken so long; he wondered if Shen Shuowen had grown impatient.
In the fourth-floor corridor, Shen Shuowen was leaning on the balcony. He had opened the window, letting the wind in to dissipate the heat in his body, which finally allowed him to calm down a bit.
He looked at the door, unsure of how Tang Yiqing was progressing. Smoking was not allowed on the fourth floor, but to distract himself, he took out his cigarette pack.
Just as he was about to light up, the door to the instrument room opened. He looked at the person inside. Tang Yiqing’s face now carried a flush as if he had just finished exercising. His hair was damply stuck to his cheeks, and his body was tinged with pink.
Shen Shuowen put away the cigarette and walked over. “Finished?”
Tang Yiqing lowered his head slightly, not daring to look at him. “Mm.”
He handed the transparent test cup containing the fluid to Shen Shuowen, saying in a small voice, “Could you take a look?”
Shen Shuowen’s figure froze for a split second. The scent of daisies was even thicker than before. Every cell in his body clamored, and the desire in his heart rose, yet his face remained calm and unruffled.
His gaze fell on the test cup being handed over. After taking it, he stared at it for a long while.
Having heard no response for a long time, Tang Yiqing looked up at Shen Shuowen. Seeing him staring at the test cup containing his fluid, his face suddenly exploded in red.
“Is… is there a problem?” Tang Yiqing asked nervously.
Only then did Shen Shuowen snap back to his senses. He slowly shook his head.
There was so much; it looked like it was almost overflowing the cup.
