After a Flash Marriage with a Professor - Chapter 28
Chapter 28: Pulling the Tie
Ming Shu only clearly saw the “seal” Professor Shen had left on the side of her neck in the bathroom mirror the next morning.
Last night, after the “crime” was done, Professor Shen gently held her and called her ‘wife,’ saying, “Young people seem to like to play this game it’s called leaving a hickey, right? I hope I’m not too out of touch.”
“You can tell me about any other new things. I’m very happy to try them with Little Friend Ming Shu.”
Ming Shu had vigorously shaken her head then; she was terrified and didn’t want to try anything.
This location, Ming Shu tilted her head and covered it with her hair it was barely hidden. As long as her hair wasn’t blown away and people didn’t look closely, she would be fine.
When Shen Junlan woke up and saw Ming Shu was still bothered by the mark she had left, she smiled.
“Ming Shu, if you care so much, why don’t you leave a mark on me too? Then we’ll have matching ‘couple’s marks.'”
“No.” Ming Shu refused with a hint of anger. After refusing, she was a little surprised at herself. How did she dare to do that?
Ming Shu carefully observed Professor Shen’s expression at that moment. Fortunately, Professor Shen wasn’t angry, but her expression held a touch of grievance. Was she upset because of the rejection?
She was the one who should be feeling wronged.
Ming Shu maintained her position, finished her grooming, walked out of the bathroom, changed her clothes away from Professor Shen’s sight, and then squatted down to retrieve her bag from under the bed.
Shen Junlan came out and was slightly surprised to see Ming Shu leaving the room with her bag. She still hadn’t figured out where Ming Shu had hidden the bag and the white silk nightwear last night.
The little girl was truly angry. She didn’t even want to look at her before leaving. Shen Junlan smiled helplessly and quickly followed.
Since they were going to be apart for two days, she didn’t want Ming Shu to be angry with her the whole time. She wanted Ming Shu to miss her and think about her good side.
So, while Ming Shu ate breakfast, Shen Junlan kept serving her food, showing affection, and chatting with Ming Shu, trying to cheer her up. But Ming Shu seemed subdued this morning and was hard to please.
Even Aunt Zhang noticed the subtle awkwardness between them.
“Junlan, did you and your wife have an argument?”
Shen Junlan: “No.”
Ming Shu: “No.”
Aunt Zhang gave them a knowing look, then lectured Shen Junlan: “I told you to be careful. Don’t bully your wife, and don’t scare her.”
Shen Junlan smiled and nodded. Ming Shu felt like she had backup, and her breakfast suddenly tasted better.
“Wife, Junlan has some quirks. If she offends you or makes you uncomfortable, you must speak up boldly, communicate and talk with her.”
Ming Shu felt like Aunt Zhang knew everything, and her face instantly turned red.
“I will, Aunt Zhang.”
Shen Junlan thought Aunt Zhang’s intervention was quite effective; at least Ming Shu’s expression was no longer angry.
After breakfast, Shen Junlan proactively offered, “Ming Shu, I’ll drive you to Lingyu’s house. I picked you up from there once before, so I know the way.”
Although Ming Shu had been crying heartbrokenly that day, she remembered how Professor Shen came and took her away, bringing her to this warm and bright home. Thinking of others’ kindness, her anger dissipated even faster.
Shen Junlan then brought out her ultimate killer move: a large, square gift box.
“What is this?” Ming Shu asked in surprise.
“My birthday gift for Lingyu. It’s also to thank her for keeping you company while I was away.”
At first, Ming Shu was touched and stunned for a moment, but she quickly looked up at Professor Shen with a suspicious gaze.
“Professor Shen, aren’t you jealous anymore?”
“I am,” Shen Junlan admitted frankly. “Honestly, I’m a little jealous of Lingyu, but I have to admit that she’s very good to you and protected the previous you for me. My gratitude to her does not conflict with my jealousy.”
Ming Shu: “…”
“I’ll put it in the trunk for you first.” Shen Junlan smiled. In truth, she had prepared the gift this morning on the spot. She had many suitable gift items at home, and she genuinely appreciated Jiang Lingyu because of Ming Shu, her precious wife, Ming Shu.
She was very happy that Ming Shu had undergone a small change now, no longer as timid as before. Although she was still afraid of her, she already dared to protest during their “night class” and get angry at her.
While it might cause a bit of a headache, this version of Ming Shu seemed even cuter.
On the way to Jiang Lingyu’s house, Shen Junlan deliberately drove very slowly. She didn’t want to be separated from Ming Shu so quickly. She even couldn’t help but wonder if Ming Shu had her own bed at Jiang Lingyu’s house or if she would share a bed with Jiang Lingyu.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Ming Shu typing on her phone, which she knew without a doubt was a conversation with Jiang Lingyu. What a pity. This year’s birthday has passed, and she couldn’t celebrate it with her little rabbit wife.
Ming Shu was indeed chatting with Jiang Lingyu. They had started talking the moment they left.
Strange, Ming Shu, why haven’t you and Professor Shen arrived yet? Didn’t you leave an hour ago?
Is there a traffic jam?
Ming Shu specifically looked up. There were more cars than usual, but no traffic jam.
No.
Is Professor Shen hoping you won’t spend my birthday alone with me?
Jiang Lingyu asked with some apprehension. She wasn’t entirely clear about Ming Shu’s current situation. If Ming Shu was going through a very difficult time, wouldn’t asking her to come celebrate the birthday like before just cause Ming Shu trouble?
No, we’ve already agreed, Professor Shen is just… just…] Ming Shu couldn’t find the right words, so she just sent it like that.
Oh, I see. Ming Shu, Professor Shen just can’t bear to part with you, right?
Can Professor Shen not bear to part with her?
Ming Shu couldn’t help but look up from her phone and turn to look at the slowly driving Professor Shen.
“Ming Shu, do you want me to drive faster?” Shen Junlan asked with a smile. She knew her careful stalling was too obvious, and Ming Shu must have already figured it out.
“No, Professor Shen, just go at your own pace.”
Ming Shu then remembered how lonely Professor Shen must be in such a large villa, and before she knew it, she started to feel sorry for Professor Shen.
It seems there are drawbacks to a professor having too much free time.
Shen Junlan still silently picked up the pace. She drove the rest of the way at a normal speed, stopping once to buy some fresh fruit from a fruit stand Shine Muscat grapes and cherries hoping her little rabbit wife and her friend would have fun.
Jiang Lingyu came out five minutes early to greet them. The atmosphere was slightly awkward. Jiang Lingyu stood formally at her doorway and respectfully addressed Professor Shen, who responded while holding large bags of gifts.
“Professor Shen, would you like to come in and sit down?” Jiang Lingyu asked courteously, feeling like she had also become socially awkward like Ming Shu.
“No, I have things to do. I’ve brought Ming Shu over. You two have fun.”
Jiang Lingyu was quick-witted, took the large bags inside herself, and let Ming Shu say a proper goodbye to Professor Shen.
“Professor Shen, you should go ahead and be busy,” Ming Shu said.
Shen Junlan sighed and gently squeezed Ming Shu’s hand on the back of her palm. “A little sad. Isn’t my wife going to miss me at all?”
They were outside, so Ming Shu glanced around nervously. Seeing no one passing by, she whispered, “Actually, just a little bit.”
“Only a little bit?”
“Mhm, just a little bit.”
Shen Junlan: “I miss you very much, Ming Shu.”
Ming Shu was skeptical. The “missing” Professor Shen spoke of probably meant she was gone, and no one could fulfill Professor Shen’s unusual “night class” needs. To be honest, Ming Shu was a little happy to be liberated for two days.
“I’ll pick you up tomorrow afternoon, Ming Shu,” Shen Junlan said, pinching Ming Shu’s soft hand.
“No, no, no,” Ming Shu shook her head. “Professor Shen, we agreed, I’d stay with Lingyu for two days. Two days. Tomorrow is only one full day. The day after is Monday. I’ll come home after work.”
Shen Junlan: “…”
What to do when the little rabbit wife doesn’t want to come home?
“Professor Shen, you’re not going back on your word, are you?” Ming Shu asked tentatively.
Shen Junlan remained silent, only slumping her shoulders and quietly returning to the car. Ming Shu felt inexplicably uneasy, a sense that she had hurt Professor Shen’s feelings. She hurriedly opened the car door and got in.
“Professor Shen, I’m sorry, I…” Ming Shu realized that a very unfortunate side effect of her social anxiety was her inability to speak clearly at crucial moments.
“It’s okay. Go on, Lingyu is waiting for you.” Shen Junlan smiled again, but Ming Shu was still uneasy. Separating like this, letting Professor Shen leave with unhappy emotions, would make Ming Shu feel guilty. How could she have fun?
“Professor Shen, come closer.” Ming Shu leaned sideways in the passenger seat and beckoned to Shen Junlan.
“Hmm?” Shen Junlan was a little confused but leaned slightly in Ming Shu’s direction.
Shen Junlan did have an engagement to attend today a colleague’s engagement ceremony so she was dressed formally in a black suit with a dark blue bow tie. Ming Shu, perhaps a bit desperate, directly reached out, grabbed her bow tie, and pulled her toward herself. Shen Junlan watched in surprise as Ming Shu’s increasingly red face zoomed in on her. Her skin was incredibly delicate, as tender as a baby’s, seemingly poreless. It made her want to pinch and kiss it.
Ming Shu, despite being shy enough to close her eyes, was doing something incredibly bold.
In the small space of the car, Shen Junlan allowed Ming Shu to mess up her neatly tied bow tie. With her eyes closed, Ming Shu tried to kiss her, missing the mark.
Seeing the kiss about to land incorrectly, Shen Junlan proactively met her, perfectly kissing Ming Shu on the lips.
Jiang Lingyu waited inside for a while, and when Ming Shu still hadn’t come in, she grew worried. She decided to go out and check, but she didn’t expect to witness such an intense scene. She thought she had misjudged it, blinked, and looked again, but it was still happening.
Ming Shu and Professor Shen were kissing in the car, and it looked like Ming Shu was taking the initiative. That is to say, Ming Shu was actively kissing Professor Shen. How was this possible?
Jiang Lingyu felt a pang of pain. Just moments ago, she was worried that Ming Shu might be forced to do things she didn’t want to do with Professor Shen. Now, it seemed there was absolutely no need to worry.
Ming Shu taking the initiative suggested that Ming Shu and Professor Shen were getting along well, perhaps even gradually developing affection.
At this thought, Jiang Lingyu’s heart tightened with pain again. She didn’t dare to look anymore and retreated back into the house.
Inside the car, Ming Shu and Shen Junlan finally separated after kissing for a long time, both heavily panting. Ming Shu was out of breath from nerves and forgetting to breathe, and Shen Junlan was nearly suffocated by the tightly pulled bow tie.
“Professor Shen, why didn’t you stop me? What if you suffocated?” Ming Shu fussed, trying to make amends for her impulsive action. Shen Junlan tilted her head back, licked her lips, and laughed. “It’s rare for my wife to take the initiative; how could I bear to interrupt?”
“Then… then…” Ming Shu was both shy and annoyed. “You should have said something! I don’t want to be accused of murdering my wife.”
“I won’t die that easily,” Shen Junlan smiled. Not before getting to eat her little rabbit wife, at least.
“Alright, I’m not talking to you anymore.” Ming Shu released the bow tie, which was now neatly tied.
Shen Junlan looked down, then pulled Ming Shu back toward her, and gave her lip a playful, disciplinary bite. “Ming Shu, why did you tie a ‘red scarf’ for your teacher?”
Ming Shu realized something was wrong, her face turning red. More kisses from Professor Shen descended upon her.
“Keep going, wife. I’ll kiss you until you get the tie right.”
