- Chapter 81 - Rivals X Fake Heiress
The bathroom lights were switched to a warm white, with LED strips hidden along the walls emitting a hazy halo of light.
Since there was no need for a shower, the two did not enter the shower stall.
Su Mi leaned one hand against the cool countertop, the clean, bright mirror behind her.
Guan Yue stood in front of her, looking at the long hair falling over her chest. “Should I tie your hair up first?”
“Okay,” Su Mi said, but her body didn’t move.
Guan Yue looked up at her, a hint of dissatisfaction showing. “How am I supposed to tie it if you stay like that?”
Su Mi’s clear eyes watched her, and then she leaned down toward Guan Yue to cooperate.
Guan Yue was startled, thinking the woman was up to something, but Su Mi stopped about half an arm’s length away. Her long hair hung down provocatively, as if she were playing a prank.
“Is this okay?” Su Mi asked, her tone sounding quite considerate as if she were genuinely seeking Guan Yue’s opinion.
Guan Yue had originally wanted to tell her to turn around, but the words got stuck in her throat. She prepared to tie the hair from that position.
Before starting, she realized there were no extra hair ties. Without a word, Guan Yue removed the tie from her own hair and held it between her lips.
Guan Yue reached out, gathering Su Mi’s scattered tresses from the front to the back.
Su Mi looked at her sideways, noting her focused expression, the black hair tie held between her teeth formed a sharp contrast with the color of her lips.
Guan Yue freed one hand to take the tie from her mouth. She leaned in closer to tie Su Mi’s hair, her movements a bit hurried. The loose strands of hair brushed against Su Mi’s nose and cheeks, carrying a burning, intense sensation.
A shallow breath fell by her ear, like a gentle breeze.
“Done,” Guan Yue stepped back to her original position.
“Thank you,” Su Mi said politely. “Could you help me with this outer layer of clothing as well?”
Seeing Guan Yue’s gaze land on her uninjured right hand, Su Mi raised that hand to gesture. “It’s a bit inconvenient with just one hand.”
Guan Yue figured since she had offered to help, she might as well see it through. She reached out to unbutton the top button of Su Mi’s collar.
The buttonhole was a bit small, even with both hands, Guan Yue had to struggle a bit. No matter how careful she was, she couldn’t help but occasionally brush against the other woman’s skin.
Unconsciously, she leaned closer and closer until her lower body was almost leaning against Su Mi.
When she finally got it open, Guan Yue relaxed her tense shoulders and complained, “These buttons are too hard to undo.”
“Then I won’t wear them next time,” Su Mi said with a smile.
Guan Yue hummed but didn’t speak. She unbuttoned Su Mi’s cuffs and proceeded to help her take off the shirt.
Underneath, Su Mi was wearing a short, tight fitting inner garment that hugged her upper body perfectly, revealing her curves without reservation.
Guan Yue pretended to look straight ahead, but the tips of her ears turned a faint red.
As she carefully helped Su Mi out of the outer garment, she realized that Su Mi’s earlier complaint about hand pain was real.
Although there were no open wounds on her right hand, there were bruises along her forearm that stood out against her pale skin.
They must have been from the impact.
Guan Yue had seen photos of the overturned car, if Su Mi hadn’t been wearing a seatbelt, the situation would have been far more severe.
Seeing her staring blankly at her arm, Su Mi spoke up: “It’s actually fine. It doesn’t hurt unless I use force.”
Guan Yue glanced at her and silently took a towel hanging nearby, dampening it with hot water.
The warm towel touched the skin, bringing waves of heat.
Guan Yue, likely afraid of hurting her, tried her best to avoid the bruised areas. She wiped from the arm to the palm, then to the fingers, with meticulous care.
In contrast, Su Mi maintained a languid and relaxed posture. Watching the other person treat her so carefully, she couldn’t resist reaching out to tease her.
Guan Yue turned her head to avoid Su Mi’s touching hand while wiping the injured hand. “Don’t mess with me. Can’t you see I’m wiping your hand? What if I hit the injury?”
Su Mi gave a soft “mm.” “A strand of hair fell down. I was afraid it would block your view.”
The excuse was flawless, so Guan Yue could only let her be.
Su Mi used her good hand to tuck the hair falling by Guan Yue’s face behind her ear. Her fingertips lightly grazed the area behind the ear, feeling the person in front of her shrink back slightly, followed by a threatening glare.
Guan Yue lowered her eyes again, carefully cradling Su Mi’s injured hand, wiping away the traces of the day until it returned to its original clean, white state.
She took another clean towel and suddenly didn’t know where to start. “How… how should I wipe?”
Su Mi reached out and took her hand, placing it at the junction of her neck and collarbone. “Start from here.”
Guan Yue felt as if she had been burned by the skin temperature and quickly withdrew her hand, suddenly changing her mind: “I’ll figure it out myself.”
Su Mi smiled but said nothing, tilting her head back slightly while watching her with half-closed eyes.
Guan Yue’s cheeks were flushed. She lifted the towel to Su Mi’s neck, trying her best to focus only on the task at hand and not look anywhere else.
Her fingers were separated from Su Mi’s skin by the towel. The residual heat from the towel rose continuously, lingering between them.
The silence between them added pressure to Guan Yue. Regarding the area below the collarbone, she only dared to haphazardly wipe the upper portion before moving to wipe Su Mi’s back.
However…
“Turn around, or I can’t reach your back.”
“Isn’t there a mirror?” Su Mi brought her head back and looked down at her.
Behind Su Mi was a huge, clear mirror. The vanity lights clearly illuminated her spine.
As if possessed, Guan Yue actually agreed to this.
Because she had to reach Su Mi’s back, Guan Yue had to move even closer to her. Su Mi proactively bent her knees to lower her height, making it easier for Guan Yue to reach.
Su Mi pursed her lips. When Guan Yue leaned in, she placed her single hand behind Guan Yue’s waist. From behind, it looked as if the two were embracing.
She tilted her face slightly, her nose brushing against the curve of Guan Yue’s ear.
“What are you doing?”
Halfway through wiping, Guan Yue leaned her upper body back and inadvertently locked eyes with Su Mi.
Looking up at Su Mi with a side glance, Guan Yue carried a hint of charm she wasn’t even aware of. Messy strands of hair fell over her cheeks and bridge of her nose, the light hitting them made them look almost transparent.
The depths of Su Mi’s eyes were undisguised. The hand at the small of Guan Yue’s back pressed into a curve with a sense of impatience, and Guan Yue’s waist immediately went soft.
Before Guan Yue could speak, Su Mi suddenly stood a bit straighter. Her taller frame blocked the overhead light, casting a thin shadow over them.
When she leaned down to kiss her, Guan Yue seemed to freeze for a few seconds. After some slight struggling, she slowly began to respond to the sudden kiss.
Actually, from the moment she saw Guan Yue yesterday, Su Mi had wanted to kiss her like this. It was only because the location wasn’t right and the surroundings weren’t “safe” enough that she had endured until now.
The hot, lingering kiss was enough to cloud the mind. Guan Yue was almost entirely leaning against Su Mi. The hand holding the towel was draped behind Su Mi’s back, and she only snapped out of it when she felt a familiar kneading sensation at her waist.
Guan Yue breathed heavily, one hand bracing against Su Mi’s bare shoulder, the other desperately grabbing the hem of her own shirt which had been pulled out at some point. She glared fiercely at the ill-intentioned woman.
“I think your hand is perfectly fine. Wipe the rest yourself.”
Su Mi caught the towel thrown at her and watched the fleeing figure disappear.
After “scaring off” the other person, Su Mi had to finish the cleaning herself.
When she went out, she found a spread of food on the coffee table, all looking quite light in flavor.
Su Mi walked over and sat down. Guan Yue, still nursing some lingering anger, proactively opened the lids of the food containers, placed the chopsticks in front of her, and gestured toward the dishes.
“Here, eat.”
Su Mi picked up the chopsticks and moved them slightly. “I feel like my hand isn’t very flexible.”
Guan Yue could no longer take it: “Su, you injured your left hand, and you’re not left-handed. Besides, just now.”
Weren’t you flexible enough when you were pulling at my clothes just now?
Su Mi’s face showed no flaws. “You left just now, and nobody was helping me, so my hand feels a bit uncomfortable now.”
Guan Yue let out a cold laugh, snatched the rice bowl and chopsticks from her, and said, “Open your mouth!”
The next day, Guan Yue returned to her working state. In the morning, Su Mi took the car with her.
The driver first dropped Guan Yue at the set and then took Su Mi to a nearby hospital to have her dressings changed.
Guan Yue wasn’t at ease, so she had her assistant accompany her.
With the assistant there, the process of changing the medicine was very smooth. Once finished, Su Mi returned to the hotel to rest and wait for Guan Yue.
These days of leisure and recovery lasted for three days. After getting the doctor’s approval, Su Mi returned to the set.
The injured hand could be covered by long sleeves, making it look no different from usual.
Although Guan Yue didn’t say anything, she couldn’t completely let her guard down regarding the injury. Fortunately, no accidents occurred over several consecutive days.
The driver arranged by Sister Yu finally arrived. Su Mi no longer took Guan Yue’s car in the morning, but she hadn’t moved out of Guan Yue’s room.
At the same time, the atmosphere on the set began to shift subtly. For example, whenever Su Mi and Guan Yue were together, everyone would tacitly leave them some space.
The director finally understood now. It wasn’t that her direction for the emotional scenes was so great; it was that the two of them were actually “practicing” in private.
Regarding the fact that the two leads were suspected of being in a relationship, she didn’t ask much. After all, this was a romance movie, as long as it didn’t affect the filming, she had a good mindset about it.
Until one day, while she was explaining a scene to the two of them before filming, her gaze accidentally caught something. She said casually, “Xiao Guan, there are still mosquitoes in this weather?”
“Huh?” Guan Yue froze.
The director pointed to a spot just below her neck. “I see a red spot there. My assistant seems to have mosquito repellent, do you want a bottle?”
She saw Guan Yue’s face suddenly turn bright red as she pulled her collar up. “No… no need, I have some over there.”
The director didn’t think much of it until the next day, when she suddenly saw a red spot below Su Mi’s neck as well. “Xiao Su, how did you get bitten by a mosquito too?”
Su Mi lightly touched the red spot. “Yeah, that mosquito seems to be here for revenge.”
Afterward, the more the director thought about it, the more she felt something was off. Finally, right before bed, she had a sudden realization and got up in the middle of the night to send the two of them a list of “precautions.”
