- Chapter 77 - Rivals X Fake Heiress
“Why are you here?” Guan Yue couldn’t hide her surprise at Su Mi’s sudden appearance.
Su Mi took the beer into her hand and looked at her. “I was waiting for you.”
“Waiting for me for what?” Guan Yue’s gaze then fell on the beer Su Mi had snatched. “And that’s mine. If you want to drink, go buy your own.”
“Your alcohol tolerance is average. Why are you drinking this at this hour?” Su Mi asked.
Guan Yue pursed her lips. “None of your business.”
Hearing this, Su Mi lowered the hand holding the beer, turned around, and began walking down the hallway.
Seeing this, Guan Yue got a bit anxious. She instinctively chased after her, grabbing Su Mi’s wrist. Her tone softened significantly. “I… I just wanted to drink a little. Is that not allowed?”
Su Mi immediately flipped her hand to clasp Guan Yue’s, pulling her along as she continued walking.
Guan Yue looked down at their intertwined hands and followed obediently until Su Mi led her into the room.
“Why did you bring me here?” Returning to the scene of her previous “crime,” Guan Yue felt embarrassed. She didn’t dare look at the bed, fearing she might recall memories she shouldn’t.
Su Mi placed the beer can on the glass coffee table with a sharp clink. She turned to look at Guan Yue, who was standing to the side.
“You wanted to drink. Isn’t it because you wanted to come find me?”
Guan Yue opened her mouth to retort but couldn’t find a counter argument. Still, she tried to save some face. “…How can you be so sure? What if it’s not?”
Su Mi straightened up, turned toward her, and took two steps forward. She naturally reached out and gave Guan Yue’s forehead a light flick. “Guan Yue, sometimes your little thoughts are practically written all over your face.”
But there were other times when she indeed hid them very well.
Hearing this, Guan Yue quickly covered her face, her eyes showing a hint of suspicion, as if doubting if she was truly that obvious.
Su Mi was momentarily amused by her reaction; the icy expression she had worn for days finally showed signs of thawing.
Seeing this, Guan Yue lowered her hands and asked softly, “Are you… are you still angry?”
Su Mi sat down on the sofa and looked up at her. “Do you think I should have cooled off by now?”
Guan Yue sat down beside her and said emphatically, “It’s been three days. Those words should have been forgiven by now.”
“So you knew your words would make someone angry,” Su Mi countered.
Realizing she was in the wrong, Guan Yue leaned back into the sofa, grabbing a nearby throw pillow and hugging it to her chest to hide half her face. She said in a muffled voice, “How was I supposed to know you’d be this mad… but it’s not entirely my fault.”
Her dark, round eyes flickered toward Su Mi. “Coming at me with that look like you wanted someone to take responsibility for a lifetime, anyone would get nervous.”
“So you’re not nervous now?” Su Mi looked at her with interest.
Guan Yue continued to babble: “It’s not just a matter of being nervous. Besides, these things can’t be decided so quickly. Furthermore, we’ve only tried it… that one night.”
The last part was barely a whisper.
As she finished, she hugged the pillow tighter, hiding most of her face until only those bright, shimmering eyes were visible to Su Mi.
“So, you weren’t satisfied that night? But I remember when I was about to leave later, you clearly grabbed me and said ‘don’t’…”
Su Mi’s words came to a dead stop because Guan Yue threw the pillow aside and lunged at her. Sitting astride her, Guan Yue covered Su Mi’s mouth and glared at her “viciously,” her tone fierce: “You can’t take ‘pillow talk’ seriously! And how can you compare anything after just one night!”
For a moment, Su Mi didn’t know whether to be happy or angry. “Then does that mean you want to try a few more times?”
Guan Yue’s face flushed slightly. “I didn’t say that. But if you say so… it’s not out of the question.”
After those words fell, the only sound left in the room was the faint breathing of two people.
They were inches apart. Guan Yue slowly lowered the hand covering Su Mi’s mouth, her gaze flickering as she tentatively leaned closer.
Su Mi watched her face draw near, but just as Guan Yue was about to touch her, Su Mi leaned back slightly to avoid it.
Guan Yue looked displeased by the rejection.
Su Mi leaned against the sofa and looked at her. “Then what are we exactly?”
Guan Yue’s eyes darted around, answering cleverly, “Try before you buy.”
This response made Su Mi laugh out of sheer exasperation. “But my current principle is that I only kiss my girlfriend, and I don’t accept credit.”
Guan Yue furrowed her brows and shot back, “Then what was everything before?” They had clearly kissed countless times, and now she was playing this game?
Su Mi: “I was young and ignorant back then.”
Guan Yue ground her teeth. “Su Mi, how old are you? ‘Young and ignorant’?”
“I am now returning to the right path.” Su Mi looked up at her slightly, placed a hand on the back of Guan Yue’s head, and straightened up to get closer. “Or, you can choose the other option.”
Guan Yue’s temper flared up a bit. She suddenly cupped Su Mi’s face and gave her a heavy kiss on the lips. “I’ll kiss you if I want!”
Caught off guard, Su Mi was stunned. “…”
“Are you going to kiss me or not? If you don’t, I’ll just go find someone else,” Guan Yue said haughtily after the forced kiss.
A trace of helplessness appeared in Su Mi’s eyes. “Guan Yue, are you just betting on the fact that I won’t actually do anything to you?”
Guan Yue suppressed the urge to smile, her eyebrows arching. “Yes.”
Hearing such a certain answer, Su Mi wrapped her arms around her and let out a soft chuckle. “Then when we kiss in a moment, don’t cry and tell me to stop.”
She added one more thing: “Begging me tonight won’t work either.”
Guan Yue likely sensed a hint of danger and tried to get off Su Mi, but just as she lifted herself up, she was pulled right back down.
“Weren’t you going to kiss me?”
Guan Yue pressed her hands against Su Mi’s shoulders. “I already did. No more.”
Su Mi smiled faintly. “Guan Yue, you can’t have everything start and end solely on your terms. The world doesn’t work that way.”
She silenced Guan Yue’s protests until they turned into broken whimpers.
Guan Yue finally managed to break away for a moment, gasping as she questioned her, “Su! Where did your ‘principles’ go?!”
Su Mi glanced at her, leaning in to graze her lips. “Rules are static, but people are flexible.”
Guan Yue wanted to say more, but she soon found herself unable to speak. She could only passively endure the heavy kiss, her sharp defenses long since softened as she looked at Su Mi, panting for breath.
Su Mi kissed her while observing her expression, one hand resting on her waist before slowly laying her down on the sofa, pinning her beneath her.
Lying there, Guan Yue’s eyelids flickered. She slowly opened her eyes and mumbled Su Mi’s name.
“Hmm?” Su Mi looked down at Guan Yue, her dark eyes watery and innocent.
“The lights… turn off the lights.” Guan Yue’s face was flushed. Last time it was dark and she couldn’t see clearly, but now it was too bright.
Su Mi looked down at her and said, “Isn’t it better with the lights on? You can see more clearly and have different sensations to compare, right?”
Guan Yue felt like she had fallen into a trap the other had woven for her, yet her limbs were too weak to climb out.
“How can you… be like this?”
Su Mi didn’t answer her, she was busy with other things.
She immersed herself in the softness, a faint dampness hitting her like the sea.
The tide rose steadily, occasionally splashing over the embankments, until finally, driven by the storm, the waves surged past the final line of defense.
Following that, a muffled, plaintive moan escaped the person above, as the light left everything with nowhere to hide.
With nothing to hold onto, Guan Yue’s hands could only tightly clutch the clothes Su Mi had laid beneath her. Suppressed sounds echoed through the empty room.
Su Mi’s throat moved slightly as she lifted her face, leaning close to the other’s neck and inhaling slowly.
Moving to her ear, she nipped the lobe and asked, “Did you feel anything different today?”
Guan Yue’s cheeks were still crimson. she struggled to regain her senses, but her eyes were still dazed—hardly in a state to answer.
Su Mi put on a look of regret. “Then let’s continue.”
Early the next morning, Su Mi was woken by a persistent alarm.
The moment the alarm went off, Guan Yue, who had been sleeping beside her, immediately pulled the duvet over her head in one smooth, fluid motion.
Last night had been too chaotic, their clothes were scattered in a heap by the sofa. It took Su Mi a while to find Guan Yue’s phone and turn off the alarm.
She checked the time. Technically it was still early, but she wasn’t sure if Guan Yue had set it so early because she needed to be at the film set. She leaned over to wake her.
Su Mi pulled down the duvet, revealing Guan Yue’s face. “Guan Yue, get up.”
Guan Yue frowned, grumbling as she rolled over to keep sleeping. “Don’t bother me.”
Seeing this, Su Mi simply sat her up in bed, but Guan Yue went limp, leaning against Su Mi’s shoulder to continue her slumber.
During this, Guan Yue’s phone rang twice more, likely set to five minutes intervals.
Finally, through Su Mi’s persistent efforts, Guan Yue opened her eyes.
Su Mi explained, “Your alarm has gone off three times. If you don’t get up, you might be late.”
In her daze, Guan Yue only caught a few keywords: “You’re waking me after only three?”
Su Mi, who usually only needed one alarm, was confused. “How many do you need?”
“I set six alarms. I can still sleep for fifteen more minutes.” Guan Yue felt extremely wronged.
“Then turn off the rest and sleep a bit more. I’ll wake you in fifteen minutes.” Su Mi patted her face.
Hearing this, Guan Yue flopped back down instantly, without a second’s hesitation.
Su Mi gave a low chuckle, got up, and headed to the bathroom to wash up.
Unfortunately, Guan Yue’s short return to sleep wasn’t meant to be. The phone by her pillow suddenly rang.
She answered groggily, “Hello?”
It was her assistant on the other end, saying she was delivering some items they had discussed the night before.
Guan Yue vaguely remembered something about it and sighed, rolling out of bed.
The little assistant was waiting at the door when she suddenly heard a noise from the adjacent room. She turned her head without thinking and froze on the spot.
The assistant quickly checked where she was standing, then looked at the room number in front of her, then at where her boss was standing and the room number above her head.
“Why are you standing over there?” a sleepy-eyed Guan Yue asked curiously.
Assistant: …That’s exactly what I should be asking you.
