- Chapter 73 - Arch-Rival X Fake Heiress
“Hey, isn’t that Teacher Guan? She hasn’t left yet?” an actor on set who had just finished a scene with Guan Yue remarked.
Hearing this, Su Mi turned around and indeed saw Guan Yue’s figure not far away.
However, the woman looked rather displeased. Upon seeing Su Mi look her way, she didn’t even bother to hide her glare.
The small assistant beside Guan Yue leaned in and whispered something to her. Only then did she slightly restrain her gaze, though her entire demeanor still radiated irritation.
Su Mi intended to go over and check on her, but just as she started to move, the director called for the next scene to begin. She had no choice but to turn back and immerse herself in the shoot.
She wanted to finish this scene as quickly as possible, but because it involved a large number of people and the director was dissatisfied with the positioning of others, it was adjusted repeatedly.
By the time the scene finally concluded, a significant amount of time had passed.
When Su Mi looked back at the spot where Guan Yue had been standing, she was gone.
A passing staff member noticed her looking for someone and stopped to ask. Upon learning she was looking for Guan Yue, she was told that the other woman had already headed back.
Su Mi took out her phone and sent her a message. This account, which Guan Yue had blacklisted for several years, had only been unblocked a few days ago.
After doing this, Su Mi returned to the set to continue the day’s filming.
By the time the director finally called it a wrap, the sky outside was already dark.
The set was filled with chorus after chorus of “Good job everyone.” After exchanging pleasantries, Su Mi walked out and immediately got her phone from Xiao Xin.
Su Mi clicked on the chat box right away, it was still empty. The other party hadn’t replied.
She couldn’t help but furrow her brows. She strode toward the car waiting at the entrance and quickly got in.
Xiao Xin, following behind, didn’t react at first and had to jog to catch up. After getting into the passenger seat, she turned and asked, “What’s wrong, Teacher Su?”
“It’s nothing. Let’s head back as quickly as possible.” As soon as Su Mi got in the car, she placed a voice call. No one answered. She tried again, and the call was declined.
Xiao Xin observed her boss’s expression through the rearview mirror, thinking that this definitely didn’t look like “nothing.” However, she didn’t dare ask more and simply told the driver to hurry.
Back at the hotel, she happened to run into Guan Yue’s assistant in the lobby. Su Mi asked where Guan Yue was.
Assistant: “Sister Guan? She went straight back to her room after returning.”
“Thanks.” After thanking her, Su Mi rushed to the elevator.
Once she reached the floor, Su Mi didn’t go to her own room first but went straight to Guan Yue’s door. She knocked and waited for her to open.
Su Mi waited for a long while with no response, so she knocked again.
Still no one opened.
Su Mi’s frown deepened. Just as she was about to call the front desk, the tightly shut door finally opened.
Inside, Guan Yue was wearing a nightgown. Her hair was messy, and her eyes were half-closed. Seeing it was Su Mi, her irritation flared up.
“Su Mi, what are you doing? Are you going to let me sleep or not?” Her complaining voice carried a hint of post-sleep hoarseness.
Seeing that the woman was standing safely in front of her, Su Mi felt an instant wave of relief.
She stepped inside, forcing Guan Yue to retreat to make way, and Su Mi closed the door behind her.
“What are you coming in for? I’m exhausted, I don’t want to run lines with you,” Guan Yue muttered with a scowl.
She had been asleep for less than half an hour when she was woken up by Su Mi’s call. After it timed out, the other woman called again, she declined it and went back to sleep, only to be woken again by the knocking.
Seeing how Guan Yue looked like she could fall asleep standing up, Su Mi didn’t intend to do anything to her.
She pulled the woman further into the room. “I saw you looked unhappy on set and you didn’t reply to my messages, so I got a bit worried.”
If she hadn’t mentioned it, it might have been fine, but at those words, Guan Yue suddenly woke up a bit. She let out a “hmpf” from her nose, shook off Su Mi’s hand, and walked quickly to the bed, rolling toward the inner side.
No matter how dull Su Mi might be, she could tell this anger was directed at her. She sat down by the edge of the bed and reached out to touch the woman’s shoulder. “What’s wrong?”
“Don’t touch me, and don’t get near me,” Guan Yue warned, turning her head away.
Su Mi was well aware of her duplicity. Hearing this, she moved even closer. “Why are you unhappy?”
“Who said I’m unhappy?” Guan Yue immediately retorted.
“On set, you looked like you were mad at me,” Su Mi said.
“Don’t be so full of yourself. Why would I be mad at you?” Guan Yue started to turn away again, but Su Mi didn’t let her and flipped her back over.
Guan Yue was annoyed. “Su Mi!”
But Su Mi just leaned sideways, looking at her quietly. This made the latter feel a bit at a loss.
Eventually, Guan Yue simply raised her hand to cover Su Mi’s eyes. “Don’t look.”
Su Mi allowed her eyes to be covered, plunging her vision into darkness. Suddenly, she leaned down.
The Guan Yue underneath was startled by this abrupt proximity. She wanted to pull her hand back to push the woman away, but her wrist was caught by Su Mi.
“What are you doing? I said I don’t want to run lines today,” Guan Yue said nervously.
Su Mi didn’t remove the hand covering her eyes until there was only a palm’s width of distance between them.
Those cool, captivating features were magnified in front of Guan Yue’s eyes. Beneath long lashes were amber eyes, clear as if washed by water.
Su Mi grasped her palm, interlacing their fingers. She lowered her head and kissed her lips, then flicked her eyes up to look at her. “This isn’t running lines. I just want to kiss you.”
Guan Yue felt she was probably intimidated by Su Mi’s current shamelessness. Otherwise, why didn’t she dodge when the woman kissed her again?
Fine, she’d just treat it as practice for that one scene.
To know your enemy is to be invincible.
Su Mi could feel the person beneath her beginning to respond slowly. She couldn’t help but press down and increase the intensity of the kiss.
In the end, it was Su Mi who pulled back in time. By then, Guan Yue was kissed into a daze, and her sleepiness was starting to resurface.
Su Mi simply shed her outer clothing, turned off the lights, and lay back on the bed holding her. She kissed her reddened lips. “Sleep.”
As for why Guan Yue was angry, given how stubborn she was being, Su Mi realized she wouldn’t get an answer from her mouth. She decided she would look into it herself later.
Originally, Su Mi only intended to hold her for a bit, but perhaps because Guan Yue’s presence was so comforting, she unintentionally fell asleep as well.
When she woke up, the room was still pitch black. She didn’t know the exact time.
Guan Yue had shifted from being held by Su Mi to actively clinging to her, even leaning halfway across Su Mi’s body as she slept. Her cheek was pressed tightly against the crook of Su Mi’s neck, her long breaths falling rhythmically.
Su Mi tried to turn to get her phone from the nightstand, but the Guan Yue clinging to her would let out a dissatisfied whimper and nuzzle her forehead into Su Mi’s neck.
She had no choice but to give up and continue holding the sleeping Guan Yue.
Another half hour passed before Guan Yue stirred restlessly. After a long, thin hum, she opened her eyes.
At first, she wasn’t fully conscious. After a moment, she realized someone was lying next to her and she seemed to be lying on top of them.
The scent on this person was very familiar. Having smelled it so much lately, she could identify it almost instantly.
Guan Yue was jolted awake. She reached out to push the woman away and scrambled back, creating a large gap between them.
Su Mi’s arm, which had been used as a pillow for a long time, was numb. Being pushed so suddenly caused a pained groan.
Guan Yue naturally heard the sound. Fearing she had accidentally hurt her, she hurriedly scrambled up to turn on the light and leaned back over, though her words remained unyielding. “Why are you sleeping in my bed? You scared me… Where did I push you?”
After the light was on, Su Mi sat up on the bed, clutching her right shoulder and moving it slightly. “It’s nothing.”
Guan Yue looked at the shoulder she was holding, thinking it must have been compressed by her own weight. A tiny bit of guilt flickered in her heart.
Su Mi moved her hand; the numbness was followed by a stinging sensation, but it was within a bearable range.
She picked up her phone and saw it was almost 11:00 PM. There were several missed calls from Sister Yu.
“It’s late. I’ll head back first.” Su Mi got out of bed and picked up her outer coat from the sofa.
She was about to walk toward the door when she suddenly doubled back.
Guan Yue looked up at the returning Su Mi with confusion. “What now?”
“Guan Yue, come closer,” Su Mi said.
Though puzzled, Guan Yue shifted closer. As soon as she did, her nape was easily grasped and pulled forward.
Su Mi pulled away from her lips. “Goodnight.”
Guan Yue stared blankly at Su Mi’s retreating back until the sound of the door closing snapped her out of it.
Realizing what happened, she suddenly punched the bed. Dazzled by lust! This was pure “dazzled by lust”!
Furthermore, it gave her the feeling that someone had kissed and slept with her, then just patted their butt and walked away. It was incredibly frustrating.
And this woman was getting more and more skillful and brazen lately. She absolutely could not let this continue.
When was that damn rain scene ever going to happen!
Early the next morning, although the downpour the director hoped for didn’t arrive, a fine drizzle began to fall.
Being in a mountainous area, the weather turned cold abruptly. The temperature dropped several degrees, and everyone arrived on set wearing light jackets.
After finishing her scene, Su Mi went to the rest area alone. Guan Yue was still with the director listening to scene notes, and her assistant also came over to the rest area.
When the assistant saw Su Mi there, she actually wanted to turn and leave. But Su Mi called out to her before she could.
With no other choice, the assistant forced a smile. “Teacher Su, is there something I can help with?”
Su Mi asked directly: “I want to know what happened to Guan Yue on set yesterday. Why was she unhappy?”
The assistant was taken aback. “Nothing really, she didn’t encounter anything…” She stopped halfway as she remembered something, looking conflicted and unsure how to speak.
“There really is something?” Su Mi frowned, her tone becoming more serious.
Seeing her get serious, the assistant waved her hands frantically. “No, no, it’s not exactly…”
“Then why on earth was she unhappy?” Su Mi was baffled.
The assistant thought to herself: Isn’t this a matter between the two of you? Why pull me in as a ‘middleman’?
But thinking that if her boss was unhappy, her own job difficulty would spike, she chose to be a helpful person.
“Perhaps, maybe, probably… Teacher Su, could you keep your social distance from certain people a bit further?” Even as the assistant said it, she felt it was a bit ridiculous.
After all, since Teacher Su started her career, she hadn’t had a single scandal. Who knew if her boss had something to do with that?
“What do you mean?” Su Mi didn’t understand for a moment.
The assistant took a deep breath and went for it. “It’s like this, our Teacher Guan seems to prefer it when you maintain that ‘sense of distance’.”
She took a step back as a demonstration. “Just like this. Personal space.”
Su Mi recalled the scene on set yesterday and connected it with Guan Yue’s attitude. Realizing what it was about, she immediately let out a small laugh.
“Ah, also, smiling isn’t great either,” the assistant reminded her.
Su Mi instantly retracted that tiny smile. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome, Teacher Su,” the assistant said before scurrying away.
Knowing the reason, Su Mi clearly relaxed. Even later when filming resumed, the director noticed she was in a very good mood.
While the director was speaking, Su Mi glanced at Guan Yue standing opposite her, the smile in her eyes unfaded.
