- Chapter 30 - Eldest Senior Sister x Junior Sister
The sky outside had already darkened. Inside the unlit room, it was dim, but the two women were close enough to see the expressions on each other’s faces.
Having finished speaking, Wanqi Yue felt a little shy and dared not face Su Mi. Because of their posture, she could easily bury her head in the crook of Su Mi’s neck. Su Mi allowed her to lean there, resting a palm gently against her back.
Feeling apprehensive, Wanqi Yue kept her head buried and murmured, “Eldest Senior Sister, am I being too greedy?”
Su Mi lowered her eyes, her straight nose brushing against the other’s temple. She paused for an ambiguous moment before saying, “I won’t lie to you.”
Wanqi Yue used her currently muddled brain to follow those words. It seemed Eldest Senior Sister truly hadn’t lied to her much or perhaps, it was more that she was often so silent and taciturn that Wanqi Yue never actually knew what was on her mind.
She could only rely on guessing, which sometimes led to petty misunderstandings.
Su Mi felt a slight tugging at the clothes on her waist and a tingling sensation as strands of hair brushed against her neck.
“Eldest Senior Sister, do you like me? Not the kind of ‘like’ a senior sister has for a junior sister…” Wanqi Yue looked up, seemingly summoning immense courage. She didn’t even dare to breathe loudly, her eyes wide as if trying to discern every emotion in Su Mi’s gaze.
Su Mi didn’t answer immediately. Instead, she ran her fingers through Wanqi Yue’s loose, long hair with a hint of nonchalance. Sensing the fabric at her waist tighten as Wanqi Yue grew nervous, she finally spoke slowly: “No senior sister would treat her junior sister like this.”
Evidently, the aftereffects of the cup of wine from earlier were making Wanqi Yue’s thoughts fluctuate. She seemed to understand Su Mi’s words, yet felt a sense of hazy confusion.
“Like what is ‘like this’?” After saying it, she grew anxious, her voice carrying a hint of aggrieved accusation. “Eldest Senior Sister, can you please stop saying such ambiguous things?”
Su Mi’s hand playing with the hair paused, letting the long strands slide through her fingers. She lifted her eyes to look at Wanqi Yue, her thin lips pursing. Suddenly, she leaned her head slightly to tuck a stray lock of hair behind her own ear, her fingers inevitably touching her own burning earlobe.
A person’s true character cannot be easily changed, but she could change the way she expressed herself.
Su Mi leaned in close, pressing a light kiss against those red lips, and said hoarsely: “Like this. I wouldn’t do this to any other junior sister.”
Wanqi Yue stared at her blankly. Her hands, which had been clutching Su Mi’s waist, became restless, loosening and then tightening again, betraying her flustered state.
“I… I wouldn’t either.” Her voice was tight. After speaking, she moved closer to Su Mi and imitated her by pressing a kiss to her lips. “I only do this with Eldest Senior Sister.”
For a fleeting moment, Su Mi felt an impulse to pull this person into an all-consuming embrace, but she restrained herself, refusing to let things get too out of hand.
The usually dull Wanqi Yue seemed to sense something. “Eldest Senior Sister, don’t you have anything you want to ask me?”
Su Mi’s frame stiffened slightly before she resumed her previous casual air though it felt a bit forced. “No.”
“Is that the truth?” Wanqi Yue had suddenly become a bit sharper.
Su Mi stroked Wanqi Yue’s heated neck from top to bottom. This time, her answer came without the slightest hesitation: “Yes.”
Just as the word left her lips, a sound came from outside, as if someone had returned.
Su Mi pulled back slightly and looked toward the door. She could vaguely see a figure outside. She turned back to Wanqi Yue and said, “Wait for me here a moment.”
Wanqi Yue naturally nodded obediently and let go of her hold.
As Su Mi turned around, she straightened her clothes and even touched her own hot earlobe and neck, ensuring the heat had dissipated before walking forward.
Opening the door, she saw Qiao Wuyu standing in the courtyard. Qiao Wuyu was about to push open Wanqi Yue’s door, but turned around in surprise when she heard the noise, seeing Su Mi.
“Eldest Senior Sister? I saw there were no lights in your room and thought you were resting.”
“I forgot to light them,” Su Mi replied, then asked, “Is something the matter?”
Qiao Wuyu scratched her head. “Oh, it’s about Junior Sister Wanqi. We took our eyes off her for a second and she vanished. We thought maybe she came back first, so I came to check. By the way, Eldest Senior Sister, did you see her return?”
She had been afraid of waking Eldest Senior Sister, which is why she hadn’t asked her first.
Su Mi nodded. “Mhm, she’s with me.”
Qiao Wuyu pulled her hand back from the door and let out a sigh of relief. “That’s good then. I can stop worrying.”
“Anything else?” Su Mi asked immediately after.
Qiao Wuyu blinked. “No.” She had only come back because she was worried about where the missing junior sister had gone. Knowing she was with Eldest Senior Sister put her mind at ease.
The two stood in silence for a moment across the distance. Suddenly, a realization struck Qiao Wuyu like a bolt of divine inspiration. “Eldest Senior Sister, the others are still waiting for me. I have to head back out. I might not return tonight.”
Su Mi said calmly, “Alright. Be careful out there.”
“Yes!” Qiao Wuyu turned and left immediately.
Once she was halfway down the road, Qiao Wuyu suddenly stopped and smacked her own forehead. She muttered to herself, “No lights on in the dark… what could they possibly be doing?”
Moreover, Eldest Senior Sister’s words were practically driving her away. At this thought, Qiao Wuyu quickened her pace, trying to stop herself from continuing such “dangerous” thoughts.
However, as Qiao Wuyu turned a corner into an alley, she caught sight of two figures in the corner. She felt one of them looked exceptionally familiar. After peering closely for a while, she recognized her.
Was that… Second Senior Sister?
On the other side, Su Mi didn’t return directly to the room. Instead, she fetched a basin of fresh water first.
The two of them just now… things had seemingly gone a bit far. There was a bit of sweat on Wanqi Yue’s forehead and palms. Although a Cleansing Charm could solve it, Su Mi, with her slight obsession with cleanliness, preferred the sensation of wiping with fresh water. Had it been permitted, she would have preferred to take a full bath.
But when Su Mi returned to the room with the water, in the dim light, she saw the person sitting by the table with her head tilted back. A glistening trail of liquid ran slowly down her fair neck, standing out starkly in the darkness.
She hurried forward in three steps, set the basin aside, and grabbed Wanqi Yue’s hand which was holding a wine jar. Her tone was somewhat stern: “What are you doing?”
Wanqi Yue swallowed the mouthful of wine. Seeing Su Mi, she opened her arms and leaned toward her, her eyes showing clear signs of intoxication.
Su Mi quickly stepped forward to catch her. Smelling the lingering scent of wine on her, Su Mi’s brow furrowed tighter. But before she could voice a reprimand, Wanqi Yue clung tightly to her neck, rubbing against her like a small animal, and called out softly, “Eldest Senior Sister.”
The words Su Mi was about to say were choked back by that soft, tender voice. Su Mi felt her cheeks heat up. She asked in a low voice, “Why did you sneak so much to drink?”
Wanqi Yue mumbled something and then pressed a few kisses to Su Mi’s neck. Perhaps because Su Mi’s body temperature was lower than hers, she kissed her a few more times, appearing quite enamored.
Su Mi’s grip on her tightened for a moment. She closed her eyes and then reopened them, determined not to let this half-drunk person continue her “evildoings.”
She held Wanqi Yue and pulled her back slightly, wanting to look her in the eye.
Unexpectedly, the kiss Wanqi Yue intended for her neck missed and landed directly on Su Mi’s lower lip. The former actually started giggling sillily at the contact.
“Senior Sister, you’re so nice to kiss.”
“…”
Su Mi finally understood why people said this wine made one tell the truth. She took a deep breath to suppress her restlessness, refusing to lose her composure.
“You haven’t answered me. Why did you drink so much?”
Wanqi Yue was momentarily unhappy about being pulled away, but after hearing Su Mi’s question, she tilted her head slightly and gave a sweet smile. “As long as I’ve drunk it, Eldest Senior Sister can ask me anything she wants. I will definitely tell the truth. You don’t have to worry about me lying.”
Having said that, Wanqi Yue’s head lolled onto Su Mi’s shoulder. Her warm, steady breath brushed against Su Mi’s skin as she murmured softly, “Eldest Senior Sister, what is it you want to ask me?”
Or rather, why are you afraid to ask?
Su Mi was momentarily stunned. She hadn’t expected Wanqi Yue to drink it for that reason. She felt a dryness in her throat.
She also hadn’t expected Wanqi Yue’s heart to be so perceptive, even though she had already denied having questions.
Su Mi held her silently, her own heartbeat loud in her ears. After an unknown amount of time, she finally spoke.
“I didn’t lie to you. When I said ‘I have nothing to ask,’ it was the truth. Because I feel that no matter what the answer to that question is, it won’t change my feelings or my decision.”
Therefore, the question lost its meaning and necessity.
Wanqi Yue swayed her head up, looking confused. “Eh? What question?”
A look of relieved warmth appeared in Su Mi’s eyes. Her cool fingertips gripped the arm wrapped around her neck, her fingers slowly applying pressure. “When did you fall for me? Was it from the very beginning, or after we spent time together?”
She was no saint. She couldn’t clearly distinguish whether the way Wanqi Yue looked at her was the same as it had always been, she couldn’t truly let certain things go.
Before this, all she could do was deliberately ignore it and remain silent.
When Wanqi Yue asked her earlier, she had felt a moment of wavering. She wanted to know if the love in Wanqi Yue’s eyes belonged solely to her, or if she was merely a “successor.”
But she quickly dismissed the thought. Because she knew herself, no matter which it was, once she had made up her mind, she would never let go.
Thus, the question was meaningless.
“I can’t really say,” Wanqi Yue looked at her, then suddenly tilted her face to rub it gently against the back of Su Mi’s hand. She seemed to love these intimate gestures.
“Now I can touch you, feel you, and even… kiss you. But before, I only felt that Eldest Senior Sister was unreachable.” Her words and sentence structure were a bit jumbled. “I like you like this. The ‘you’ from before felt more like just ‘my Eldest Senior Sister’.”
Su Mi moved closer. “Am I not anymore?”
Wanqi Yue steadied her head, shook it gently, and whispered, “Now, you are my Senior Sister alone.”
She finished and smiled at Su Mi again, her expression carrying a hint of small pride. “Right?”
That smile, reflected in Su Mi’s eyes, was like a spark lighting the dark fire in her gaze. She immediately wrapped one arm around the other’s waist and kissed her from above. The previously green and clumsy kissing had become much more fluent, and Wanqi Yue’s initiative made the embrace between them seamless.
The bittersweet taste of wine gradually bled into a hint of sweetness during the exchange. The clamor and heat tumbled within their friction, gradually becoming moist.
In the darkness, Su Mi pulled back slightly, answering her with ragged breath: “Right.”
“I am yours alone.”
