- A Sickly Beauty Transmigrates Into An Infinite Flow World As An NPC
- Chapter 7 - Do You Want to Steal My Boyfriend?
In the dim hallway, the emergency light melted like a wax candle. The novice on the left had his forehead injured, his skin torn, and blood covered his face as he let out a shrill, piercing scream.
Dark, gloomy mist outlined a human silhouette. The ghost’s face was hideous and terrifying, its body expanding as it lunged toward He Yuput with sharp, claw-like fingernails.
Xie Jingyan’s gun was incredibly fast, but the bullets passed straight through the ghost’s body. Shen Weiran tried to turn and shield He Yuput, but there was no time; he could only watch helplessly as the ghost attacked.
Another novice sitting on the ground closed his eyes in extreme fear, accepting that the glass-like beauty was about to be shattered.
He Yuput did not even blink. He stood indifferent in place, holding the cup of water he had filled in the room, and splashed it directly at the ghost.
In the dead-silent hallway, the ghost let out a brief, agonized shriek and instantly dissipated into wisps of black smoke that drifted into the air.
The novice looked up in a daze. “Ah?”
[Holy fck, I am dying of laughter! I thought this ghost was powerful. All that hype, but it did 0.5 damage!]*
[I am jealous. I want to possess the ghost’s body—boohoo! Why are you splashing it, wifey? Splash me instead!]
[No, keep your pants on! Calm down. Go look at the other team of novices playing this same instance. What is even happening right now!?]
On the floating screens in the main lobby, another team of players was undergoing the same instance. In their dark hallway, the faint lights flickered incessantly as countless ghosts tore at them one after another.
One player had both legs ripped off by a ghost, half of his cheek bitten off, and the sight of the bloody, crimson liquid was gruesome. He crawled on the ground like a dog, snot and tears covering his face, begging the audience for tips.
“I beg you, please give me some points! I will do anything! Masters, audience daddies! I beg you to save me! Aaaaaah!”
Amidst the chaos, an elegant and sinister voice sounded eerily in the hallway. “Hehehe, I am a little rusty at eating people for the first time, so bear with me!”
A corpse with a half-detached neck crawled across the floor at high speed. The rotting facial muscles twitched as it grinned, dragging back the player who had lost his legs and was trying to crawl away.
It cruelly bit off half the meat on his face, then allowed the player to continue crawling forward, only to catch up easily and tear away more flesh.
The player’s dignity was trampled upon without mercy; he was reduced to a lowly toy, eventually having his neck bitten through once the ghost grew bored.
[Ugh! I am about to vomit! It is the exact same instance, why is it so brutal over there?]
[Did everyone forget that this is a normal instance? It is only the second task, and that team has already deduced the villagers’ weaknesses and the landlady’s background, and they have started a counter-attack!]
[That team has the God of Prophecy, Shen Weiran! Plus, with the NPC glitching, the instance background was basically given away for free. But even with god-tier props, they are still headed for a total party wipe.]
[Not necessarily. If this NPC keeps standing on the players’ side, they might actually clear it.]
The players were unaware of the situation in the lobby and could not see the viewers’ discussions.
He Yuput’s thoughts were in a bit of a mess.
He was basically bound to Xie Jingyan now, and this NPC identity was too conspicuous; there was no way to avoid the gaze of others to access the system store. As such, his survival rate in the instance would drop significantly.
However, if he could take control of all the items in the instance, the other players would risk their lives to save him.
He Yuput suddenly remembered the item in Xie Jingyan’s possession. He lowered his long eyelashes to hide the smile in his eyes.
When he turned and saw Xie Jingyan’s concerned look, he scoffed and pulled a long face, picking up Hell money from the floor. He basically had “Come and coax me” written all over his face.
Xie Jingyan smiled helplessly, took the messy stack of Hell money He Yuput handed him, organized it, and tucked it into the other man’s pocket. He leaned down and whispered in his ear, “Still angry? Come on, I like you the most; I will not like anyone else.”
He Yuput raised his gaze to look at him. “Who does not know how to say sweet things?”
Xie Jingyan’s tone remained gentle. “Then what do you want to do?”
“You kept this photo so tightly hidden. Do you like it that much?”
He Yuput stared at the location of the B-level prop on him and persisted, “Give me what you like, and then I will believe you.”
“Xie Jingyan, do you really want to give it to him?” The bespectacled man, who was picking up money nearby, looked over with a warning in his eyes. “You are a player, not his benefactor. At the end of the day, this is just data. If you take the item and become a monster, it will be very hard to deal with.”
The novice looked at them blankly and backed away from He Yuput. “You are saying this in front of an NPC. What if he throws a tantrum?”
The bespectacled man sorted through his money. “He will not. NPCs automatically filter out information related to the system.”
Hearing this, He Yuput pretended not to hear their conversation and looked up at Xie Jingyan. “Do you not like me anymore?”
He blinked slowly, his moist, soulful cat-like eyes looking pitifully at him. When Xie Jingyan did not respond for a long time, he seemed to realize something, instinctively pressing his lips together to suppress the grievance rising in his throat.
He looked like a proud yet pitiful kitten, begging for human love.
Xie Jingyan’s eyes darkened. Instead of handing the photo to He Yuput, he hid it deeper in the inner pocket of his trench coat.
The bespectacled man chuckled, casting a disdainful look at He Yuput. But before he could get too arrogant, he heard Xie Jingyan’s low voice.
“I do not need your concern.”
Xie Jingyan draped his trench coat over He Yuput and pulled him into his arms. “Whatever my little lover wants, I will give him unconditionally.”
The bespectacled man felt annoyed and reached for the gun at his waist. “You…”
He Yuput pulled the trench coat tighter around himself, his brows knitting together beautifully. “What are you so anxious about? Could it be that you also have a crush on my boyfriend?!”
The bespectacled man’s hand froze. “???”
The woman in white ignored the farce, keeping her head down as she collected Hell money. She cautiously started a conversation with Shen Weiran. “I heard a loud noise and screaming from your side earlier. What happened?”
Before entering the instance, Shen Weiran had foreseen the woman’s skill—a rare information-gathering ability—and intended to win her over. So, he briefly explained what had happened in the hotel room.
“You mean the landlady of this hotel will kill the players staying here and turn them into ghosts?”
The woman in white went pale, covering her mouth in disbelief. “Are we not supposed to just complete the tasks and leave the instance?”
“That is on the condition that you have the life left to complete the tasks.”
Shen Weiran added, “Of course, if we are all willing to cooperate, we can still clear the instance.”
“Cooperate? Is that something you are actually saying?”
