A Fatal Attraction from Lawyer A - Chapter 93
Gu Yuxi’s voice was cool and steady, but in the dim light, the mention of “waist cinchers” and “shirt stays”—coupled with that teasing laugh and the word “little brother”—pierced straight through Luo Panzhi’s heart. Gu didn’t need to act cute; he simply knew exactly how to handle his Alpha.
“Who told you to wear a cincher and shirt stays?” Luo Panzhi hooked an arm around Gu’s waist, pulling him flush against his chest with firm strength.
His hand, resting on the small of Gu’s back, could feel the structure of the waist cincher through the layers of the suit and shirt. The sensation felt like holding a hot coal.
Not stopping there, Gu Yuxi guided Luo’s hand down to his thigh. When Luo’s fingers brushed against the elastic band of the shirt stay encircling the firm muscle of Gu’s thigh, he felt his fingertips burn. His nerve endings were instantly set on fire.
“I’m wearing them because I’m going home tonight, and I wanted to show you,” Gu Yuxi whispered, resting his hands on Luo’s shoulders. He leaned in to kiss Luo’s earlobe with a soft laugh. “Darling, stop being angry, okay?”
That laugh nearly shattered the last of Luo Panzhi’s self-control. The fatal attraction of Lawyer A was something no man could easily withstand.
“Don’t ever wear this outside again,” Luo Panzhi groaned, unable to hold back any longer. He crushed Gu into a tight embrace, burying his face in the crook of Gu’s neck to greedily inhale the scent of his Alpha. “Not even underneath your clothes.”
It had been a week. Without Gu Yuxi by his side, Luo had felt completely out of sorts. Just like when he used to go on business trips, the moment work ended, he wanted to fly back immediately. He wanted to hold Gu, kiss him, and feel his warmth.
Seven days was too long. He had left their son with his brother for a few days just so he could fly to Country Y to find Gu.
He was already feeling insecure because Gu no longer carried his scent, and then he arrives only to see Hebraic harassing his partner. If Hebraic weren’t so powerful in Country Y, and if he weren’t—on paper—an excellent partner for the Galaxy Group, Luo would have dealt with him differently.
But investment comes first, and character comes second. He knew Hebraic was a “predator” who took whatever he wanted, regardless of gender, and whose private life was a mess. Luo had been worried Gu would cross paths with such a man, and his fears had been confirmed.
A room key? I’ll break his damn wings!
“No one knows what I’m wearing underneath,” Gu Yuxi murmured, feeling the weight of Luo’s dependence in the strength of the hug. He ran his fingers through Luo’s hair, stroking it gently. “Only you know.”
“Even if only I know, it’s still a ‘no.’ You shouldn’t dress like this.” Luo held onto him, and like joined twins, they moved together step by step toward the bedroom of the suite.
“You don’t like it when I dress like this?”
The heavy curtains in the bedroom were drawn tight. Under the dim yellow glow of the lamps, they tumbled onto the large, soft bed.
Luo Panzhi lay back, looking up at Gu Yuxi, who was now straddling him. He watched as Gu nonchalantly took off his glasses. With his suit still perfectly intact, the gesture was the epitome of a “refined rogue.”
The atmosphere grew heavy with a lingering, romantic tension. Gu Yuxi let out a low laugh, tossed his glasses onto a nearby pillow, and leaned down to kiss Luo.
“Don’t lie. You know you love it.”
“I said you shouldn’t wear it,” Luo Panzhi muttered, turning his head to dodge the kiss. He thought to himself that this man was trying to use temptation to distract him from the real issue.
Gu stopped mid-motion. He pushed himself up, resting his hands on Luo’s chest, and looked down at him with a frown. “When I first gave birth, weren’t you the one who loved helping me put the cincher on the most? When I told you to pull the laces tight, are you telling me you didn’t like it then?”
“That was then, this is now. And that’s not the point. We are talking about two different things.” Luo Panzhi wanted to focus on what had happened with Hebraic. He wasn’t doubting Gu, he was just worried. And it frustrated him that Gu hadn’t told him about the harassment; Gu was always so strong and independent, whereas Luo shared everything.
“Luo Panzhi, I already told you everything. Nothing happened. I’m trying to soothe you now, so stop throwing a tantrum. Even if you are my boss, you can’t be this overbearing.”
Luo Panzhi barked out a laugh. This man was something else—he hadn’t even finished “coaxing” him, and now he was the one getting angry.
Am I not even allowed to be jealous? Who wouldn’t be jealous seeing someone hit on their spouse? And he wasn’t “throwing a tantrum.”
“I’m not throwing a tantrum. I just want to know what happened this week. Am I not even allowed to ask?”
Gu Yuxi pinched Luo’s chin, forcing him to make eye contact. His pale amber eyes were sharp, cold, and dominant.
“But that’s not what you mean. My work is important to me. I stepped away for over a year for you; you should know how much I wanted to return to my post. I hope you don’t think of me as weak. The only time I was truly fragile was during the pregnancy. The rest of the time, I am the one who stands in front of you to settle your disputes.”
“I don’t think you’re weak. You know what I’m afraid of.” Luo Panzhi felt a mix of laughter and frustration. He had only been “coaxing” Luo for ten minutes, and now Luo had to turn around and soothe his wife’s anger while his own heart was still full of jealousy.
“I know what you’re afraid of. You feel insecure because I don’t smell like you anymore. I understand.” Gu took Luo’s hand and placed it behind his back, staring down at him. “So, I’m asking you to ‘undo’ me now. The cincher, the shirt stays… whatever you want. Just stop questioning me.”
Luo Panzhi let out a deep, dark laugh. His gaze darkened as he flipped them over, pinning Gu beneath him. “Gu Yuxi, I’ve realized that your mouth is truly relentless when you think you’re right.”
Gu was cutest when he was pregnant. Any other time, he was incredibly difficult to manage because he always wanted to challenge Luo.
“I’m just speaking the facts,” Gu said, tugging on Luo’s collar.
“So now I’m the one being unreasonable?” Luo kissed his eyelids.
“Not exactly. You’re just overbearing. You’re always managing me. I told you I’d be home tonight, but you had to come here now.”
“Because I missed you.”
“We have calls and videos every day. We just can’t touch. I think you might be ‘love-brained,’ Young Mr. Luo. In life, we should have a healthy balance between career, love, and family.”
“Gu Yuxi, are you trying to make me angry again?”
“See? You’ve been so short-tempered lately. These are small things. I was just trying to soothe you, and then you say something so domineering—mhm!” Gu’s words were cut off by a kiss.
Luo Panzhi had reached his limit. He blocked Gu’s mouth, launching a powerful, relentless assault that left Gu’s eyes unfocused and hazy.
He realized Gu was perfect for the legal profession; the man had a natural talent for arguing. How dare he call me ‘love-brained’?
After a long time, Gu felt lightheaded from the lack of oxygen. He turned his head to escape, but Luo immediately pinched his cheeks. Gu cried out in pain and glared at him.
“You’re pinching me?”
“Yes! So what if I’m ‘love-brained’? What’s wrong with wanting to be in love every day and having you by my side every second? I missed you, so I came to find you. I’m jealous—so what? Is that a crime? Huh?” Luo narrowed his eyes, holding Gu’s face so he couldn’t look away. “You’re the professional, Lawyer Gu. Why don’t you tell me? What law did I break?”
Gu felt the pressure on his cheeks. It wasn’t painfully hard, but it was thick with indignation. Looking into Luo’s unhappy eyes, he suddenly realized what he had said and cursed himself inwardly.
“Speak up. What law did I break by wanting to be clingy with my wife? You’re so eloquent, Lawyer Gu; surely you can give me a logical explanation to convince me,” Luo challenged.
Luo Panzhi, of course, couldn’t bring himself to actually hurt him. Especially seeing Gu’s cheeks puffed out from the pinching, looking at him with a mix of guilt and hesitation—Luo’s heart had already softened.
But he was still fuming. Love-brained?
He realized that this man was perfectly happy to run around without him. He had been like this during the pregnancy, too—refined and cool on the surface, but a wildcat with sharp claws underneath. After the birth, he had been “good” for a few months, and now he was ready to take off again. Calling him “love-brained” really hurt. Luo was always the one to yield; if he didn’t make Gu yield today, he wasn’t Luo Panzhi. He wasn’t a man.
The atmosphere grew heavy again. The air was thick with the powerful, dominant Alpha pheromones of the Luo family. It was like a waking beast, its nose brushing against a delicate Juliet rose, inhaling the scent while slowly radiating a sense of overwhelming pressure.
Luo’s question left Gu speechless. He knew he was in the wrong; he had been too stubborn and proud. He could feel Luo’s pheromones washing over him. Even with the suppressants, the scent felt like oxygen to him—a dizzying, intoxicating oxygen that could make him submit in an instant.
He also sensed the genuine sadness beneath Luo’s dominance.
“You didn’t break a law,” Gu Yuxi whispered, his eyes downcast. After a moment of self-reflection, he said softly, “…I did.”
He cursed himself again. He knew Luo was clingy, and it was perfectly normal for him to come and find him. Saying what he did must have really hurt Luo. Why do I always have to be so stubborn?
Luo Panzhi looked down at him, letting go of his cheeks. Seeing Gu’s tone soften so completely, the darkness in his eyes eased slightly, but he wasn’t going to be won over that easily.
“How could the great Lawyer Gu break a law?” he asked with a cold smirk, though his thumb gently rubbed the red marks on Gu’s cheeks. The tenderness of the action contradicted the hardness of his voice.
“I broke the ‘Fundamental Law of Not Making Your Husband Sad,'” Gu whispered. He took Luo’s hand and kissed the ring finger wearing the wedding band.
Luo Panzhi’s eyebrow twitched ever so slightly, clearly pleased. The cold line of his mouth began to soften, though he fought to keep a serious face. This man had challenged him repeatedly; he couldn’t give in too easily. At the very least, he needed to maintain his “husband’s status” for a few more seconds.
Seeing that Luo remained unmoved, Gu Yuxi decided to go all in. He wrapped his arms around Luo’s neck, leaned into his ear, and surrendered.
“Judge Luo… I was wrong. Please, hand down my sentence.”
