The weekly Monday morning meeting was scheduled for 9 a.m. No one dared to arrive right on time; most employees were already in place ten minutes early. Their little CEO, Luo Panzhi, despised employees who were not on time for meetings. He was usually easy-going, but anyone who arrived precisely at the start time was generally fired.

This was a documented occurrence.

His assistant, Xu Wen, walked beside him, giving a brief work report.

“What about the autopsy report?”

The elevator door opened, and Xu Wen pressed the elevator button, holding the door open for Luo Panzhi to enter first.

Luo Panzhi stepped into the elevator with a stoic expression, asking a question as he did so.

Xu Wen shook his head. “I’ve asked the hospital. They said the family of the deceased refused to do an autopsy and signed a consent form. Plus, the optimal seven-day window has passed.”

Luo Panzhi slowly turned to face the elevator door. He gave a cold laugh. “Today, you’ll go find the deceased’s family. We will naturally respect their decision and use the name of the Galaxy Group to protect them. If Ruixing Hospital has threatened them in any way to prevent an autopsy, we will sue the hospital on other charges.”

Xu Wen released the door and entered the elevator. “Yes, CEO Luo.”

Just as the elevator doors were closing, a hand suddenly grabbed them.

The elevator doors opened, and Gu Yuxi, in a fitted black suit, came into view.

The elevator doors finally closed.

Inside the small elevator, the two Alphas’ pheromones, vastly different, faintly clashed.

Xu Wen was a Beta and couldn’t smell it, but he could still feel that the dynamic between his boss and Lawyer Gu was different from last week.

The entire atmosphere had changed.

He secretly glanced at his young boss’s expression, and as expected, it wasn’t good. It seemed that CEO Luo was applying his strict rule about meeting times without exception, even though he had seemed to favor Lawyer Gu last week.

Luo Panzhi met those blurry amber eyes. The man was clearly still in formal attire and wearing those standoffish wire-rimmed glasses, but he was no longer the Gu Yuxi he knew. His eyes now seemed to have shed their cold reserve, revealing a fragility that made others want to pity him. For a moment, Luo Panzhi felt cruel for being so cold.

He forced himself to look away, deciding to be impartial and treat everyone the same. He turned back. “I’ll forgive you since you’ve just joined the group and weren’t aware of the rule. Xu Wen will explain it to you later. I hope Lawyer Gu can abide by it next Monday.”

“Okay, CEO Luo.” Gu Yuxi lowered his eyes, quietly agreeing.

A thin layer of sweat started to form on his forehead.

His body swayed slightly.

Luo Panzhi stared at his reflection in the elevator door, clearly seeing Gu Yuxi with his head down behind him. He sneered silently, What kind of game are you playing now? A cunning Alpha indeed.

Gu Yuxi felt his whole body burning, his mind was a chaotic blank. For a moment, he couldn’t tell which way was up and felt dizzy, his vision blurring. He didn’t know if he was standing or sitting; he only knew that his entire body had lost its strength.

He knew he urgently needed a shot right now, or his fever would only worsen as his pheromone levels continued to rise.

If there was no needle, then he needed Luo Panzhi.

Then he saw Gu Yuxi sit up, lean against the sofa, and take off his glasses, tossing them onto the sofa beside him. His eyes were wet and full of deep affection as he stared at him.

Luo Panzhi endured the painful discomfort under the metal buckle, reached out, and pressed down on Gu Yuxi’s head. He gritted his teeth. “Gu Yuxi, stop coming on to me. You have a man, don’t you?”

Gu Yuxi held onto Luo Panzhi’s metal buckle with force, his plea containing an irresistible dominance. “Luo Panzhi, give it to me, now.”
