A Fatal Attraction from Lawyer A - Chapter 5
“Young CEO Luo, you hurt me.”
The movement of Luo Panzhi’s hand on his face stopped abruptly. He stared intently at Gu Yuxi’s current appearance, his eyes deepening. At the same time, he smelled Gu Yuxi’s Alpha pheromones.
‘So fragrant, so rich, so soft.’
‘Are these really an Alpha’s pheromones?’ He didn’t feel any repulsion towards them, and the pheromones showed no aggression toward him either.
‘And he’s having a physical reaction to an Alpha’s pheromones?!’
His gaze fell on Gu Yuxi’s face. He had never seen Gu Yuxi without his glasses. The man’s handsome, well-defined face was fully exposed to him. Perhaps it was because his cheeks had just been massaged, but they now had a flush of red, as if he had just removed Gu Yuxi’s strict, ascetic mask.
With his hazy eyes and suggestive words, his current appearance was several times more lethal than usual. He felt an urge to take Gu Yuxi’s hand and press it on his little ‘Youpan.’
“Lawyer Gu, are you always this fragrant?” Luo Panzhi’s gaze fell on Gu Yuxi’s hand holding the glasses on the desk. It was long and pale, with well-defined knuckles. It was a truly beautiful hand.
He reached out, his fingertips touching it, and then completely covered the slightly cool back of his hand with his palm.
Gu Yuxi seemed to suddenly realize what he was doing. His eyes narrowed. He abruptly pulled his hand away and adjusted his breathing. He put his glasses back on his nose, and his expression returned to its usual composure. Then, as if he felt his reaction had been too strong, he instinctively glanced at Luo Panzhi.
But he was met with Luo Panzhi’s smiling, teasing eyes, which made him feel like a captured animal.
“Does it still hurt?” Luo Panzhi straightened up from the table he had been leaning on. He casually took in all of Gu Yuxi’s expressions. He withdrew his hand and asked gently, “My apologies, I wasn’t gentle enough.”
Gu Yuxi had never heard Luo Panzhi speak in such a tone. He looked at him for a moment but didn’t dare to delve deeper. He looked away and adjusted his glasses. “It’s fine, it doesn’t hurt much. Young CEO Luo has to take on the heavy responsibility of the Galaxy Group. It’s best to be cautious with your actions. It wouldn’t look good if an outsider saw this.”
He then slightly moved his chair and stood up. “I’m going to the restroom.”
Luo Panzhi remained in the same position, looking at Gu Yuxi’s retreating back. In his eyes, this back could be interpreted with a few words:
‘Running away in a panic, playing hard to get, or feigning refusal.’
He lowered his head and laughed softly, then looked down and rubbed his fingertips together, as if savoring the warmth and touch from a moment ago.
‘How strange.’ He had thought his standards were too high. He had an Omega who was as excellent and great as his father, and another who was as gentle as jade as his brother Zuo Gu. He thought an ordinary Omega wouldn’t be able to catch his eye, and he might never meet an ideal Omega in this lifetime.
‘Who would have thought he’d become so interested in an Alpha?’
‘A very handsome man, with incredibly fragrant Alpha pheromones.’
Their Chu-Luo family had one excellent trait: if they liked something, they had to pursue it. ‘How would I know if I could get him if I didn’t try?’
He took out his phone and messaged his brother.
At 6 PM, it was time to leave work. Employees were continuously exiting the main entrance of the Galaxy Group.
The Galaxy Group’s work system strictly followed an 8-hour workday. No one had to work overtime unless there was a major event or if a manager asked them to. This was one of the reasons it was a dream job for so many people and why its employees had one of the highest happiness indexes.
Luo Panzhi was no exception. The Ruixing Hospital incident had kept him busy for several nights without proper rest. He had to get a good night’s sleep tonight. He had originally planned to go home for dinner, but on a whim, he thought of the lawyer next door.
He walked to Gu Yuxi’s office and was about to knock, but the moment he raised his hand, the office door opened from the inside.
“Oh? Lawyer Gu is also leaving on time today?”
Gu Yuxi hadn’t expected Luo Panzhi to be standing at the door. A flash of surprise passed through his eyes. He said calmly, “Yes, I have plans tonight.”
“Plans?” Luo Panzhi, who had been thinking of asking him out for dinner, frowned. Suddenly, he seemed to remember something.
“Do you have a partner, Lawyer Gu?”
“Yes, I do.”
Luo Panzhi’s expression instantly darkened.
“Yes, I have plans with someone.” Gu Yuxi saw Luo Panzhi’s expression change and, after taking it all in, he slightly moved to the side. “I’ll get going now. See you tomorrow, Young CEO Luo.”
As he turned, a dimple appeared on his lips.
Luo Panzhi stood in place, his hands at his sides slowly clenching into fists. His lips were pressed into a tight, unhappy curve. He watched Gu Yuxi’s retreating figure, and an unknown jealousy rose from deep within him.
He was jealous of the person—man or woman, Alpha or Omega—who had plans with Lawyer Gu tonight.
Feeling utterly frustrated, he took out his phone and called his friend. The moment the call connected, he said bluntly, “Jian Wenxing, let’s go out for a drink tonight.”
The other end of the line was noisy, and he could even hear the sound of crashing waves. “Huh? What?”
Luo Panzhi repeated himself expressionlessly. “I said, tonight, you’d better get your ass over here and go drinking with me.”
“I’m on a yacht party right now. I might be back around 8 or 9.”
Luo Panzhi tried to hold back his anger. “Eight or nine? Give me an exact time.” He had originally wanted to find Zuo Gu, but then he reconsidered. Zuo Gu was pregnant, and if he threw a tantrum, his dad would probably kill him.
Jian Wenxing on the other end of the phone seemed to sense the impatience and urgency in his second cousin’s voice. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been patient enough to ask whether he’d be back at 8 or 9. He noticed the subtlety and told the people next to him something, then walked to a quiet area.
“Why are you acting like you’ve swallowed a bomb? Who pissed you off? Did Lawyer Yan bully Youyou?”
“Youyou my head! How many times have I told you not to call Zuo Gu that? And it has nothing to do with Lawyer Yan,” Luo Panzhi said, already infuriated. Jian Wenxing’s words were like adding fuel to the fire, making the anger burn even hotter in his heart.
“Then what is it?” Jian Wenxing was confused by his anger. “Is it about the Galaxy Group’s recent incident?”
“It’s not that.”
“Then what is it?”
Luo Panzhi was silent for a few seconds before revealing a shocking secret. “I’ve fallen for an Alpha.”
“Holy… shit. I’m coming back now. No need to wait until 8. I’m coming back immediately. Don’t do anything reckless, brother, just wait for me!”
Beep—
Luo Panzhi slowly lowered his phone, looking at Gu Yuxi’s office door. Maybe he was being impulsive, or maybe the scent of that Juliet rose was temporarily confusing him, but so what?
He was a grown Alpha. He knew that an Alpha wasn’t supposed to be attracted to another Alpha, and he knew that two Alphas were not meant to be.
He understood what it meant to fall in love for the first time, and he understood what it was to be unable to control his feelings.
But so what?
Just as twenty years ago, no one believed a Beta and an Omega could be together and bond. But now, doesn’t the existence of the B.O. Sex Differentiation Agent prove otherwise?
The B.O. Sex Differentiation Agent allows Betas to temporarily differentiate into pseudo-alpha pheromones during the bonding process. Why can’t there be an A.A. agent?
The only problem was that Gu Yuxi said he had a partner.
Cloud Club—
The night was deep and dark. Young people who had worked hard all day always looked for a place to let loose at night, and clubs were one of those places.
Inside the club, neon lights flickered. The crystal ceiling reflected the light, casting beautiful, multi-faceted diamond-shaped shadows. Laughter and happy chatter filled the air. Glasses clinked crisply, and ice cubes swirled with liquid.
At a certain booth, a tall and handsome Alpha became the focal point for many.
The Alpha’s aura was cool and noble. He wore an expensive, understated shirt. He held the wine glass by its rim with one hand, his posture unrestrained. His collar was slightly open, unintentionally revealing his collarbone and a platinum chain. The slightly tipsy look on his face as he leaned back against the sofa softened his cool demeanor, adding an indescribable touch of a carefree gentleman.
There were already a few empty bottles of whiskey on the table.
“Old Gu, are you saying your young boss thinks your pheromones are fragrant?”
Gu Yuxi raised the glass in his hand and took another sip. The whiskey’s concentration was slowly filling his mind, which had been full of fantasies these past few days. He wasn’t wearing his glasses, and the scene in front of him was a little hazy from the alcohol, but that was just the way he liked it.
It perfectly matched the happy and airy feeling he had now.
“Yes, he can smell it.” Gu Yuxi leaned forward, his lips curved slightly, and he clinked his glass with his friend’s.
At this moment, Gu Yuxi was nothing like the usual cool and reserved Lawyer Gu. Now, he had shed the facade of a man in a suit.
Qi Lin laughed and clinked his glass with his. “As expected, your body is special. No wonder CEO Chu suggested you spend some time with Luo Panzhi. You might not even need to get timed B.O. Sex Differentiation Agent shots to neutralize your high pheromone concentration. You can just get a whiff of Luo Panzhi and solve the problem once and for all.”
Gu Yuxi, uncharacteristically, laughed out loud. He tilted his head back and downed the whiskey in his glass. The high alcohol content burned his chest, just like the feeling in his heart every day as he watched Luo Panzhi through the one-way mirror.
‘Burning, exciting, and satisfying.’
His secondary differentiation had brought him many troubles. For example, his estrus periods would be much more frequent than other Alphas’, and his pheromone concentration would often rise, requiring a quick drop.
This made it impossible for him to get close to Omegas or ask them for comfort. He could only rely on cold medication.
But now he had found a medicine that would solve the problem once and for all.
That person was also an Alpha. He seemed difficult to tame, but he was surprisingly easy to hook, and he kept falling for it.
His case also confirmed CEO Chu and CEO Luo’s experiment: through the use of the Sex Differentiation Agent, Alphas could also be attracted to each other, but only for Alphas who had undergone a secondary differentiation.
Secondary differentiation was like a soft entryway that allowed the impossible to become possible.
“Yes, just looking at him makes me feel satisfied.”
Just then, there was a commotion at the club entrance.
Alphas were naturally born with a dominant aura, especially those with good genes and good looks.
The figure of a young man, tall and slender, appeared against the light from the entrance.
Gu Yuxi’s gaze fell on him, and the hand holding his glass tightened slightly.
Luo Panzhi was wearing a black shirt and white trousers, which accentuated his tall and slender figure. His shirt buttons were casually undone, the top two unbuttoned, and his sleeves were slightly rolled up, revealing a simple yet elegant watch on his wrist. The unrestrained dominance in his eyes made his every move stand out.
He seemed to have come with a friend. The Alpha beside him was also eye-catching.
They were whispering to each other, and their relationship seemed to be good.
Their booth wasn’t too far from the entrance. If one’s vision was good, they would see them at a glance.
Unfortunately, Luo Panzhi’s eyesight was excellent.
The club was noisy and crowded, and through the moving crowd, their eyes met.
Luo Panzhi thought he had misjudged him and took a closer look. At a booth not far away, his usually cool and ascetic Lawyer Gu was not wearing his glasses. His collar was slightly open, and he was elegantly leaning back against the sofa. A smile on his lips, he raised his glass to him.
He saw it very clearly. Gu Yuxi’s slightly flushed, glistening lips parted, and he mouthed:
“Cheers.”
The club music was buzzing in his head, and Gu Yuxi’s mouthed words made his little ‘Youpan’ ache.
