A Fatal Attraction from Lawyer A - Chapter 28
Luo Panzhi was asleep.
Gu Yuxi watched him for as long as he slept.
Gu Yuxi was held by Luo Panzhi, unable to move, so he could only gaze at the sleeping Luo Panzhi. His eyes traced the face so close to him inch by inch, greedily moving from top to bottom, then reluctantly repeating the process a few times, finally resting on the relaxed brow and eyes.
In his sleep, Luo Panzhi lacked the usual dominance and dignity he displayed at the Group. His sleeping features held an almost imperceptible childishness, lending a subtle, charmingly arrogant cuteness to his handsome face.
He was indeed very cute when he was angry, especially when he stood with his hands on his hips and threw a tantrum. What Gu Yuxi loved to watch most from behind the Venetian blinds was Luo Panzhi getting angry.
He couldn’t help but reach out to touch that face, but then restrained the impulse as if remembering something.
However, the moment he drew his hand back, it was caught.
“I know you’re craving me. Just touch it; I won’t say anything.”
A sexy, slightly husky voice came from above. Gu Yuxi’s hand was unexpectedly grasped. He looked up in surprise into Luo Panzhi’s just-woken eyes. The hazy, languid eyes were filled with a smile, his features showing the contentment of a good rest. Then, he pressed Gu Yuxi’s hand against his face.
It seemed like a deliberate provocation.
The two of them lay on the bed, face to face.
Luo Panzhi lowered his head, moving closer to Gu Yuxi, taking in all of the man’s subtle expressions: “Want to touch my face? Or where else? My Adam’s apple?”
He guided Gu Yuxi’s hand from his face to his throat.
“Or my pectoral muscles?”
“Or my abs?”
Gu Yuxi’s hand was held by Luo Panzhi, and the hand, like a hot potato, was guided to increasingly intimate places. His rationality told him he shouldn’t continue, but his hand was very honest, allowing Luo Panzhi to proceed.
After passing the abs, Luo Panzhi’s movements came to an abrupt halt.
Gu Yuxi glanced at him, clearly unsatisfied.
Luo Panzhi leaned in close to his ear, chuckling in a low voice: “Why aren’t you refusing me? Do you still want to continue?” He held Gu Yuxi’s burning hand, letting it linger on his abs for a moment.
As soon as he finished speaking, he saw Gu Yuxi lean forward, his arm resting on Luo Panzhi’s arm, stopping the distance just shy of his lips.
Luo Panzhi felt the man’s gaze lightly tracing his lips. He then casually looked up at him, his eyes rippling with emotion, before returning his focus to the lips.
There was only a fraction of distance left between them—a distance that could be closed with a mere lift of the head.
With Gu Yuxi’s eyes casually tracing him like that, Luo Panzhi felt like they had already done everything, even though nothing had actually happened.
“It’s not like my ‘boyfriend’ cares about me much. And you are the one who has been with me for the past two days, so thoughtful and attentive. How can I possibly refuse you?” Gu Yuxi gazed at Luo Panzhi. He leaned in a little further, his lips slightly parted.
Luo Panzhi thought the man was going to kiss him and prepared himself with anticipation, but then saw him pull back the next second. Luo Panzhi’s expression immediately darkened, his eyes filled with resentment, as if saying, I prepared myself for that, and that’s all I get?!
Gu Yuxi lay back on his pillow, taking in all of Luo Panzhi’s reactions, and his lips curved slightly.
“Gu Yuxi, I’m finding you’re getting increasingly reckless.” Luo Panzhi raised his hand, intending to pinch Gu Yuxi’s chin, but in the instant he lifted his hand, he glimpsed the bandage on his chin and quietly withdrew his hand.
Forget it, he thought. This recklessness is something I’ve indulged.
It was only now that Gu Yuxi realized there was something on his chin. He reached to touch it, but Luo Panzhi caught his hand.
“You have stitches there. Don’t touch it. The stitches can’t be removed for half a month.”
“Stitches?” Gu Yuxi frowned, which only made him want to touch it more: “When did I hit my chin?” He had no memory of it.
“Five stitches. You must have accidentally bumped it when you fainted.” At the mention of this, Luo Panzhi’s expression grew serious. He flipped over, sat up, and leaned against the headboard: “Can you tell me what happened that day?”
The air was silent for a few seconds.
Luo Panzhi saw Gu Yuxi suddenly fall silent and immediately regretted his words, thinking: Why couldn’t I just comfort him more instead of asking this, when he just returned from the brink of death?!
Stupid mouth!
“I can.” Gu Yuxi thought to himself that he was just about to tell Luo Panzhi this. He tried to sit up, but as soon as he did, he felt dizzy, and his face instantly paled.
Luo Panzhi panicked when he saw Gu Yuxi’s face suddenly turn white and quickly made him lie back down: “Are you uncomfortable somewhere? I’ll call the doctor!” He reached up to press the call button.
“… No, I just feel a little dizzy. I’m fine.” Gu Yuxi couldn’t stop Luo Panzhi’s fast hand from pressing the button.
The next second, the ward door was opened. Doctor Su rushed in with a nurse. The speed at which people arrived matched the speed at which the button was pressed.
Gu Yuxi looked at Luo Panzhi with a subtle expression.
Luo Panzhi: “…” Well, great. The two-person world is over.
Doctor Su, upon entering the ward, was perceptive enough to sense the unusual atmosphere between the two men, but as a doctor, the necessary checks for a newly awakened patient had to be performed thoroughly.
“Lawyer Gu, are you uncomfortable anywhere?” Doctor Su walked to the bedside and asked the newly awakened Gu Yuxi. Then he turned his head and gestured for the nurse to unbutton Gu Yuxi’s patient gown. He took out his stethoscope, preparing to examine him.
Before the nurse could move, a hand was faster than hers.
“I’ll do it.” Luo Panzhi’s hand touched the buttons of Gu Yuxi’s gown and unbuttoned them with practiced ease.
Gu Yuxi: “…” Actually, I could have done it myself.
Doctor Su looked accustomed, as this CEO had done everything personally for the past two days, practically sharing the patient’s experience. He bent down and placed the stethoscope on Gu Yuxi’s chest. After a moment, his brow furrowed.
Luo Panzhi saw Doctor Su’s expression: “What’s wrong?”
“Both lung sounds are coarse. Take Lawyer Gu’s temperature. He’s probably running a fever again.” Doctor Su put away his stethoscope and whispered to the nurse next to him: “Do a pheromone concentration test.”
Fever again?!
Luo Panzhi immediately felt Gu Yuxi’s palm and realized it was truly scorching. He had sensed that Gu Yuxi’s body was hot just now, but he was too caught up in the intimacy to think much of it. He placed the back of his hand on Gu Yuxi’s forehead; it was burning hot.
Regret flashed across his eyes.
This had been a continuous fever for two days, and it had only broken slightly last night.
“Why the serious face? It’s just a fever, isn’t it?” Gu Yuxi found Luo Panzhi’s solemn expression somewhat amusing.
“Lawyer Gu, have you been experiencing frequent fevers lately?” Doctor Su recalled being urgently summoned by the young CEO to the Galaxy Group half a month ago because Lawyer Gu had fainted with a fever: “How long has it been since you had the sex-inducer neutralization to dilute your pheromone concentration?”
Gu Yuxi looked at Doctor Su, somewhat surprised that he mentioned the sex-inducer neutralization. Does he know I’m a second-differentiated Alpha?
“The last time you fainted at the Group, Doctor Su was the one who examined you. He is a researcher at the Galaxy Research Institute.” Luo Panzhi held Gu Yuxi’s hand and squeezed his palm: “You can trust him.”
Gu Yuxi wanted to sit up.
Luo Panzhi saw Gu Yuxi struggling slightly and reached out to support his back, exerting a little force to help him sit up. Fearing that he would be uncomfortable leaning on the hard headboard, Luo Panzhi simply sat beside him and acted as a backrest.
Doctor Su: “…” They’re feeding us dog food even now.
“Occasionally, when I’m feeling unwell. I had the sex-inducer neutralization two months ago.” Gu Yuxi found the backrest behind him incredibly comfortable and slowly relaxed.
Luo Panzhi inadvertently glanced at the back of Gu Yuxi’s neck and saw that it was red and swollen. He reached out to touch it.
Gu Yuxi’s body subtly trembled at the touch and he looked back at Luo Panzhi.
Luo Panzhi leaned close to his ear and whispered: “The back of your neck is a bit red and swollen. Does it hurt?”
Gu Yuxi: “…” Why does this person always speak so suggestively?
What back? What swelling?
He shook his head, indicating it didn’t hurt. It was just a little itchy, and he didn’t feel anything if it wasn’t touched.
On the contrary, Luo Panzhi’s touch made his heart flutter.
“Lawyer Gu, I remember that the effect of the sex-inducer neutralization should last at least one year, and up to three years, with a cycle of once a year for the injection. CEO Chu has told us about your case. The longest duration for you was three years, but you said you had the sex-inducer neutralization two months ago.” Doctor Su showed a difficult expression: “This means the dosage of the sex-inducer neutralization is beginning to fail for you. We need to check your current pheromone concentration.”
“Is it failing because I got close to Luo Panzhi?” Gu Yuxi asked. He had indeed felt it recently—an uncontrollable urge to be near Luo Panzhi, to engage in physical contact, or even more intimate acts. The more contact he had, the greedier he became, and the harder it was to endure.
“Logically, it shouldn’t fail because the sex-inducer neutralization pheromones are the young CEO Luo’s, and the person you are getting close to is also the young CEO Luo. It’s the same type of pheromone. However, there is another possibility: the young CEO Luo’s pheromones, when in person, are warmer than the serum in the needle. Your body is choosing the young CEO Luo in person.” Doctor Su looked at the thermometer handed over by the nurse: “38.6 degrees. You have a fever. Frequent fevers are one of the symptoms of failure.”
“What will happen then?” Gu Yuxi thought: Surely they won’t stop me from getting close to Luo Panzhi?
“If your pheromone concentration exceeds 80%, it will stimulate symptoms of a pseudo-heat. At the same time, it’s very likely to also trigger a rut. The simultaneous occurrence of a pseudo-Omega heat and an Alpha rut in the same person—that might not be something that can be resolved in seven days and seven nights.” Doctor Su subconsciously glanced at Luo Panzhi.
Luo Panzhi’s expression was grave. An outsider would think he was worried.
In reality, he was contemplating strengthening his physical exercise.
Not just seven days and seven nights, huh?
I’ll need to strengthen my core strength then.
Gu Yuxi asked again: “If that’s the case, will I need an Omega or an Alpha?”
As soon as he finished speaking, Luo Panzhi flicked his palm, as if punishing him.
Gu Yuxi’s lips curled up. He caught Luo Panzhi’s resentful and accusing look in his peripheral vision.
“An Alpha would be best because an Alpha can perform a pseudo-marking on you, thereby alleviating your pseudo-heat symptoms. Similarly, due to your constitution, an Omega would very likely cause rejection. After all, besides your own Alpha pheromones, you also have the young CEO Luo’s pheromones in your body. This is why you experienced the blood loss and shock this time.”
“Therefore, your rut will require a large amount of Alpha pheromones to dilute the excessively high pheromone concentration during that period. Furthermore, Alphas have better stamina. An Omega might not be able to handle it, especially since you are an Alpha.”
“So, that Alpha…”
“It’s me! It’s me!” Luo Panzhi couldn’t stand it anymore. He embraced Gu Yuxi’s shoulder from behind, glaring fiercely: “Try finding another Alpha? See what happens?”
Doctor Su and the nurses silently looked away.
You really don’t need to be this affectionate.
“Doctor Su, when might the pseudo-heat occur?” Gu Yuxi allowed the large Alpha behind him to hold him. He looked at Doctor Su: “Will there be any symptoms?”
Could the unbearable craving he felt in Luo Panzhi’s office last time be similar to a pseudo-heat?
Doctor Su stated frankly: “When you intensely crave the young CEO Luo.”
The nurses lowered their heads, giggling. What a shy topic.
They’ll listen if he keeps talking.
The person in question, Gu Yuxi: “…” So, the situation where I was embarrassingly desperate for him last time might happen again.
The person in question, Luo Panzhi, half-closed his eyes. He nodded knowingly, then leaned down and said to Gu Yuxi: “Lawyer Gu, starting today, you need to cultivate your body and mind. No alcohol, no staying up late, no takeout food. And you need to exercise more; I can join you. As for meals, I’ll cook for you. We need to be ready to welcome… I mean, just in case.”
That sounds like preparing for pregnancy.
Gu Yuxi’s expression was subtle: “Young CEO Luo, isn’t that a little too cautious?”
“How can that be? The first time is an adjustment, but the second time shouldn’t be as awkward as the last, should it?” This statement was suggestive.
Gu Yuxi turned his head and gave Luo Panzhi a look.
Luo Panzhi smiled innocently.
