A Fatal Attraction from Lawyer A - Chapter 27
It was a very hot summer. The warehouse was dark and damp, and the air was thick with an uncomfortable humidity. With a creak and a ‘click,’ the warehouse door was locked from the outside.
“Are you the newly differentiated Omega? I heard them say your name is Gu Yuxi.”
A faint ray of light streamed through the broken window, enveloping the approaching Alpha. His shadow fell upon the dusty floor, gradually expanding with each approaching step, resembling a monstrous creature with claws and teeth.
Immediately after, the shadow of a large hand was seen reaching toward the fair, handsome young man not far away.
The back of that outstretched left hand was covered with hideous scars, like a twisted snake, making it look disgusting and repulsive under the deep green clothing.
“What do you want to do?”
Despite being a newly differentiated Omega, the clear and resonant voice of the Omega carried a sense of calm indifference, maintaining composure even in such a disadvantageous situation.
“I want to mark you.”
The Omega laughed lightly: “Are you dreaming?”
The next second, he was grabbed by the throat and slammed against the shelf behind him. With a ‘bang,’ his back hit the edge of the shelf hard, causing the Omega to bite his lower lip and let out a muffled groan of pain. However, his light amber eyes were filled with an unyielding determination that refused to be insulted.
“Dreaming? I don’t need to dream. I can bite your scent gland and mark you right now.”
The deep ebony gentian Alpha pheromones brushed past his nose, stimulating the young Omega. The physical strength of an adult Alpha far surpassed that of a newly differentiated sixteen-year-old Omega, making it impossible for the Omega to resist.
The Omega only felt a surge of nausea rising from his stomach. The Alpha pheromone, however, became increasingly reckless, attempting to assault and stimulate his sanity. He clutched the corner of the shelf tightly, biting his teeth together, trying to push the Alpha away.
He looked at the hand with the hideous scars, deeply engraving them into his pupils, but the disparity in physical strength made his resistance gradually fade.
“Gu Yuxi, your pheromones smell so good. You don’t reject my pheromones either, do you? Follow me, and you can leave this wretched place. I will give you the best of everything in this world.”
“… Dream on!” The Omega gritted his teeth. He could even taste the metallic tang of blood from his own bitten lip, but he still refused the Alpha’s proximity: “Get away from me!!! Get lost!!”
A nearly hysterical voice, suppressing sobs and fear, echoed in the dim warehouse.
Even though he was born in an orphanage, even though he was without parents, he would not allow himself to be manipulated by an Alpha.
He was an independent person. No one could bully him just because he was an Omega. He didn’t need to be protected; he just needed to live well, to strive to live, to see the world outside the orphanage, and to do what he wanted to do.
The Alpha’s pheromones grew stronger, stimulating the newly differentiated Omega’s scent gland.
The Omega felt a tingling sensation in the back of his neck where the scent gland was. The psychological resistance against being violated intensified the pain in his stomach, almost making him vomit. He turned his face away, his moist, red eyes fixed on the broken pane of the old window nearby. The light pouring in from that broken corner seemed to grow brighter.
He could not be bullied.
He absolutely could not be bullied.
He had promised himself: he had to grow up quickly, leave the orphanage, and do what he wanted to do.
Bang, bang, bang—
Just then, the warehouse door was forcefully hammered from the outside, and a girl’s voice came through.
“Gu Yuxi, are you in there? If you are, answer me!”
The Omega was pressed against the shelf, barely able to resist the Alpha behind him, but his psychological state was becoming increasingly agitated and anxious. The pain in his stomach made his whole body start to tremble. Just as he wanted to reply, the Alpha’s hand clamped over his mouth.
The palm, reeking of dust and dirt, covered his lips, almost making him gag.
Then, fueled by an unknown source of strength, he bit the Alpha’s hand. The Alpha let out an angry cry of pain and immediately kicked him viciously onto the floor.
His body instantly smashed heavily onto the dust-covered floor. The force of the impact made him crash into another shelf behind him, and small falling objects rained down on him. Yet, he couldn’t feel the pain because a tearing and then fusing pain erupted from the back of his neck. The pain widened his pupils, leaving him without the strength even to make a sound.
He felt the blood in his body violently surging again, becoming searing hot along with the tearing sensation.
“You dare to make a sound? You won’t leave this place alive today—”
The Alpha reached for the Omega, but in the next second, the Omega suddenly rolled over, seized his hand, and violently twisted it backward.
Crack. It was the sound of bone breaking.
The vanilla Juliet pheromones, which originally belonged to the Omega, were instantly engulfed by another Alpha pheromone—the same vanilla Juliet, but cold and dominating after being transplanted onto an Alpha.
Bang. The warehouse door was smashed open, and the light poured completely into the room.
The girl outside the door stared at the scene in astonishment.
She saw the thin, tall Gu Yuxi single-kneeing Mo Wenbin, who was beneath him, completely overpowering the adult Alpha with an impossible physical advantage. Gu Yuxi’s clothes were covered in dust, and there were numerous scrapes bleeding on his exposed face and arms.
Then, she saw a trickle of blood flow from the back of Gu Yuxi’s neck, flowing more and more, almost soaking his collar.
And there was no trace of the Omega pheromones that belonged to Gu Yuxi here; there were clearly Alpha pheromones.
Dominating and icy, radiating an unchallengeable dignity.
Gu Yuxi gritted his teeth and raised his head. He pressed down on Mo Wenbin beneath him with all his might. Sweat and blood mixed and flowed down his jawline. He turned his head and looked at Song Yingling outside the door: “Call the police! Hurry!!!”
Hurry,
He couldn’t hold on.
The outdoor light was glaring and dazzling, making his vision increasingly hazy and blurred. The tearing pain in the back of his neck gradually devoured his consciousness, and the dizziness made him lose his sense of direction. He even felt a momentary confusion: Hadn’t he already escaped from here?
Why was he back?
“Gu Yuxi, I believe you will definitely win this lawsuit.”
Suddenly, a low, slightly husky voice echoed in his ear. The handsome face of the voice’s owner became clearer in his mind, pulling him out of the nightmare of the past.
“What are you afraid of? I, Luo Panzhi, am your ultimate backing.”
“… You’ve lost so much blood, your face has gotten thinner.”
“That beautiful face needed five stitches on the chin, it breaks my heart.”
“I can’t bear to touch you, so who does that scumbag think he is to hurt you.”
“Your knee is also a large patch of bruise; it must hurt terribly.”
“Gu Yuxi, how could you make me so heartbroken? If you weren’t under my watchful eye, I would be terrified. It seems I’ll have to keep you in my pocket from now on. Ideally, you should just become my wife, and I’ll take you everywhere all day long, letting you do nothing.”
A continuous murmuring sound came from beside his ear. The chatter was so much that Gu Yuxi found it a little noisy. His brow furrowed, and then he slowly opened his heavy eyelids. What came into view was a field of white; his head felt a little foggy.
Is this…
The hospital?
Luo Panzhi was sitting by the bedside, leaning slightly forward, holding Gu Yuxi’s hand—the one that had just finished an injection—by the back of the hand. He gently massaged the needle mark with his palm, carefully, afraid of hurting him.
He looked at the needle mark on the fair hand, his eyes filled with distress, and lowered his head to place a light kiss on it.
“Why aren’t you waking up? Did you dream of me? You can’t bear to wake up. I’m right here in person, which is much better than dreaming. I can give you kisses and hugs and whatever you want.”
“You’ve been asleep for two days. You don’t miss me, but I miss you.”
“Wake up soon. The young CEO doesn’t even want to go to work when you’re not around.”
Gu Yuxi turned his head, staring blankly at Luo Panzhi, who was sitting beside him and incessantly murmuring, holding his hand. The next moment, a tender and affectionate kiss landed on the back of his hand.
The warm touch of the lips caused his fingertips to tremble slightly.
Luo Panzhi seemed to sense something and abruptly raised his head, immediately meeting Gu Yuxi’s still-hazy, just-woken eyes. His gaze instantly brightened, as if overwhelmed with joy. His eyes turned red, but he tried his best to smile as he spoke, for fear of startling him.
“Lawyer Gu, you’re awake.”
—You’re awake.
What a gentle and doting sentence.
Gu Yuxi looked at Luo Panzhi, whose eyes had suddenly turned red, and the dark circles under his eyes suggested he hadn’t rested in a long time. He raised his hand, wiped the tears from the corner of Luo Panzhi’s eye with his thumb, and chuckled softly:
“Mhm, I’m awake.”
It really felt like he had just woken up from a nap, and the first person he saw was Luo Panzhi. He was quite happy.
Luo Panzhi took the opportunity to grasp Gu Yuxi’s hand and pressed his cheek against the back of his hand. He didn’t care if the dampness in his eyes would affect his CEO image. Right now, he just wanted to pour out all his grievances and fears to this man.
“You really scared me to death. When they said you were rushed in for resuscitation due to excessive blood loss and shock, my vision went completely black. After you were resuscitated, you slept for two days, and I just watched over you, afraid you wouldn’t open your eyes.”
“I haven’t left this ward for two days. When I got sleepy, I’d hold your hand and sleep for a while, but I didn’t sleep well because I was afraid you wouldn’t open your eyes.”
“The doctor said you were too weak from the blood loss and needed to sleep longer, but I was still afraid you wouldn’t open your eyes.”
Gu Yuxi turned his head, listening to his young superior’s resentful complaints, poured out over and over again. Watching Luo Panzhi’s murmuring expression, he didn’t feel annoyed. Instead, he felt…
Very safe.
He also recalled what had happened: at Song Yingling’s house, he had been stimulated by Song Yingling’s Omega pheromones, which caused a strong rejection reaction.
His whole body seemed unable to move. It was so cold.
And he had bled a lot.
He thought he was going to die, but unexpectedly, he was fine.
Luo Panzhi saw Gu Yuxi staring at him motionlessly. Those eyes, unobstructed by glasses, always gave people a sense of deep affection. He pressed his face against Gu Yuxi’s palm and, almost imperceptibly, turned his head and kissed the palm.
Gu Yuxi felt the tenderness of the kiss. His fingertips trembled again with a pleasant numbness, and his gaze met Luo Panzhi’s.
Those deep eyes, showing fatigue, seemed to be wrapped in deep affection. The tenderness and distress in his eyes were clear, making anyone who saw them willingly drown in such emotion.
Not to mention the kiss that landed on his palm as he turned his head.
It was a very light kiss, yet it burned his heart like a searing flame.
He felt he could now distinguish that Luo Panzhi’s feelings for him were not just pheromone dependence.
“Lawyer Gu, do you know that your ‘boyfriend’ hasn’t come to see you for the past two days? He doesn’t care about you at all. Unlike me, I’m meticulous and considerate, always by your side,”
Luo Panzhi rubbed his cheek against Gu Yuxi’s palm and blinked at him, as if asking for a compliment.
Gu Yuxi pursed his lips and endured it for two seconds before finally turning his face away and laughing out loud.
Luo Panzhi saw him turn away and immediately reached out to turn his face back, complaining plaintively: “Why aren’t you looking at me? I care about you more than your ‘boyfriend’ does!”
“Foul.”
This light, husky sound of “Foul” seemed to strike Luo Panzhi’s heart. He stared blankly at the gently smiling Gu Yuxi: “Hmm?”
The next second, Gu Yuxi intertwined his fingers with Luo Panzhi’s and abruptly pulled him closer.
Their clasped hands were the only remaining distance between them, yet it couldn’t block the warmth of their breath.
Just as Luo Panzhi was about to say something, a sudden warmth landed on his lips.
He was momentarily stunned, meeting Gu Yuxi’s smiling eyes. Those eyes, unobstructed by glasses, were filled with a gentle ripple. Perhaps because his body was still very weak, his whole being was exceptionally soft. Although the action was a bit dominant, it was incredibly heart-stirring.
This kiss was unlike the one by the entrance that day—strong, aggressive, savagely conquering, and mutually testing. This was merely a brief touch, tender and lingering, yet it struck him right in the core.
“Young CEO Luo, I said you fouled,” Gu Yuxi moved away from his lips, leaned back against the pillow, and didn’t release his hand: “How can you be better than my ‘boyfriend’?”
Luo Panzhi pursed his lips, as if savoring the taste. He curved his lips, looked up at Gu Yuxi, and smiled: “If I weren’t better than your ‘boyfriend,’ how could I replace him?”
Gu Yuxi chuckled softly. Seeing the dark circles under Luo Panzhi’s eyes, he slightly frowned: “How many days have you been without sleep?”
“Two days.”
“Are you sleepy now?”
“Yes.”
Gu Yuxi pulled back his quilt, moved over slightly, and then looked at Luo Panzhi: “Do you want me to lull you to sleep for a bit?”
Luo Panzhi raised an eyebrow, as if asking: Is there such a good thing?
Then, without a word, he quickly lay down on the bed, pulled the quilt over both of them, buried his head into Gu Yuxi’s shoulder and neck, and hugged him tightly: “Yes, yes, yes~”
He wouldn’t dare to sleep when the man was awake, but now that he was awake, he could finally rest assured for a while.
Gu Yuxi smiled faintly, allowing him to hold him.
Under the quilt, they embraced. They could feel each other’s powerful heartbeats through the thin layer of clothing.
This was the evidence that they had already fallen for each other, an attraction that could not be stopped.
