A Fatal Attraction from Lawyer A - Chapter 14
The two cars drove one behind the other toward the police station.
While on the road, Luo Panzhi couldn’t resist calling Gu Yuxi.
Gu Yuxi’s expression was subtle when he received the call from Luo Panzhi. The car was right in front of him, giving him a sense of déjà vu—calling him when he was so close.
He answered the phone anyway.
Before he could speak, Luo Panzhi spoke first. “Although I know this might not be the best thing to ask, I still want to know: were you scared back then?”
Gu Yuxi stared at the black car ahead, his hands gripping the steering wheel tightening, but soon relaxing. “I was scared at the time, but then I stopped being scared.”
“Did the secondary differentiation hurt?”
“It hurt.”
“…What kind of pain was it?”
“The kind of pain where your scent gland is cut out and then crudely stitched back on.”
“Did you cry?”
“I did.”
Luo Panzhi’s end fell into a brief silence, as if he was adjusting his emotions.
Gu Yuxi seemed to sense something. He said, “Focus on driving. Let’s talk later.” Just as he was about to hang up Luo Panzhi’s call, he heard a voice come through again.
“So, do you still have a scar on the back of your neck where the gland was?”
Gu Yuxi pondered the question. He honestly didn’t know if there was a scar, but he couldn’t feel one when he touched it. “I can’t see it. Maybe Little President Luo, you can help me check?”
Luo Panzhi: “…” See? Seducing him again. Truly a cunning Alpha. “Didn’t your boyfriend check for you? Why do you insist on me checking?”
Gu Yuxi’s lips subtly curved. He followed the car in front, turning the steering wheel. “I haven’t shown him.”
“Then why show me?”
Gu Yuxi chuckled again. “Wasn’t Little President Luo the one who wanted to see it?”
Luo Panzhi: “…” Ah! It wasn’t him who wanted to see it! “Does your boyfriend know about this incident?”
“He does.”
“Did he express concern for you?”
“Not as much as Little President Luo does.”
Separated by the phone line, Luo Panzhi heard Gu Yuxi’s light, airy chuckle, which, inexplicably, fluttered like a feather, tickling his heart.
This sentence also made him realize that his concern for Gu Yuxi exceeded his imagination, and he seemed to be losing control of his attention to Gu Yuxi.
He didn’t know why. Gu Yuxi was an Alpha, wasn’t he?
He felt his heart race when Gu Yuxi bent over to pick up documents in front of him, or even just opened a car door. He felt jealous when he saw other Alphas near Gu Yuxi. He felt heartache when he heard about the harm Gu Yuxi had suffered.
But Gu Yuxi had a boyfriend.
And yet, he was still attracted.
Why hadn’t he met Gu Yuxi sooner?
“Then he’s not good to you.” The subtext was that he wasn’t as caring as Luo Panzhi was.
Hearing the tone in Luo Panzhi’s voice—no longer the assertiveness from before, but a low, sinking feeling that Gu Yuxi couldn’t quite describe—why was he feeling down? This made it impossible for Gu Yuxi to answer.
Because the role of the boyfriend was purely fabricated, an excuse he created while he tried to figure things out.
But now, it seemed to be hurting Luo Panzhi.
Gu Yuxi’s hands on the steering wheel suddenly tightened, as if warning himself. “He’s fine.”
“Oh, is that so.”
Hearing Luo Panzhi’s answer, Gu Yuxi suddenly felt a painful ache in his chest.
Luo Panzhi’s pheromones causing such intense craving was unexpected, but his intentions were wrong from the start. He wanted Luo Panzhi’s pheromones, but what Luo Panzhi wanted was clearly not just that. Their relationship had grown beyond his control.
Could Alphas truly fall in love with other Alphas?
Could their pheromone compatibility really lead to a successful outcome?
He had no confidence in himself. He had long grown accustomed to Luo Panzhi’s pheromones flowing in his blood. Subconsciously, he just needed Luo Panzhi’s pheromones.
In front of the police station gate, Assistant Xu Wen was already waiting for them with all the documents. When he saw the two familiar cars, he immediately went to meet them.
The black and white cars parked in the spaces outside the police station. Xu Wen watched as Little President Luo and Lawyer Gu simultaneously opened their doors and got out. The moment they appeared, walking side-by-side in identical silver-gray suits, he felt a sense of disorientation.
The aura of these two men was so similar.
But the atmosphere seemed subtly awkward.
Luo Panzhi walked forward expressionlessly. He glanced at Xu Wen, who was walking beside him, and asked plainly, “Are all the materials ready?”
“Yes, everything is ready. Has Little President Luo obtained the consent form from the deceased’s family?”
Luo Panzhi nodded. “Yes.” He briefly looked at Gu Yuxi beside him. “Thanks to Lawyer Gu.”
Gu Yuxi met Luo Panzhi’s brief sidelong glance and saw the other man immediately pull his eyes away. His mood sank slightly.
“Lawyer Gu is truly impressive. To be able to persuade the family,” Xu Wen instantly felt relieved. This case finally had a chance to break through the dark clouds.
“Just reasoning with them,” Gu Yuxi said.
Luo Panzhi sneered. “Wasn’t it moving them with emotion?”
Gu Yuxi frowned. Where did the ‘moving with emotion’ come from?
“I saw that Miss Song stare intently at you from the moment she saw you. Well, Lawyer Gu is handsome. Everyone likes him. Forget Omegas; even Alphas like you.”
Xu Wen: “???” What’s wrong with these two? Are they arguing?
It seemed that since this morning, Little President Luo’s attitude toward Lawyer Gu had been different. He thought he might have been mistaken, especially since Little President Luo was so worried when Lawyer Gu fainted. But now that Little President Luo was deploying his trademark passive aggression, he sensed something was definitely off.
Gu Yuxi watched Luo Panzhi’s retreating back, remaining silent.
Not until he saw the police officer in charge of the case walking toward them did he move to stand abreast of Luo Panzhi, lowering his voice.
“Miss Song was from the same orphanage as me. She helped me smash the door open back then; otherwise, I wouldn’t have escaped.” After saying this, his expression returned to normal.
Luo Panzhi’s back stiffened.
Huh?
Was that it?
Ah,
Awkward.
He probably didn’t pick up on his sarcastic tone, did he? Wait, had he actually been sarcastic toward Gu Yuxi?
Luo Panzhi quickly glanced at Gu Yuxi’s expression. The man wasn’t looking at him, his face cool and indifferent, still maintaining that ‘keep-away’ demeanor. He was done for. He must be angry, right?
No, why should he care if Gu Yuxi was angry? He was just stating facts.
Annoyed, he pulled his gaze back, silently cursing himself for being so useless!
So he was angry at him? He was the one who should be angry!
The officer in charge of the case was Officer Zhang. He was somewhat surprised to receive the autopsy consent form from the deceased’s family. This essentially overturned all the evidence collected previously, meaning the deceased’s family now disputed the previous medical findings.
Why the sudden change?
“Officer Zhang, hello. I am Gu Yuxi, a lawyer from the Galaxy Group.” Gu Yuxi extended his hand to the officer.
Officer Zhang looked at the man speaking. His gaze fell on the man’s suit, which was identical to the one worn by the man beside him. His expression was momentarily subtle.
But he quickly regained his composure, making him approach the case with renewed caution. This was the first time the Galaxy Group had personally stepped forward to handle the matter.
He stepped forward and shook Gu Yuxi’s hand. “Lawyer Gu, hello.”
“The Galaxy Group has always fully cooperated with the investigation; you should be aware of that. Now that we have obtained the family’s permission for an autopsy, though there has been a delay, it does not mean the Galaxy Group is silently accepting this baseless accusation. Furthermore, we will be filing a lawsuit against Rui Xing Hospital for concealing the patient’s secondary differentiation incident during the aphrodisiac injection process, for the deceased suffering sexual assault during the 42-hour observation of the aphrodisiac reaction while hospitalized, which led to a fatal rejection reaction, and for falsifying the patient’s 42-hour observation data as normal.”
Gu Yuxi calmly withdrew his hand and smiled. “And we will raise an objection to the forensic institution’s report, hoping that Rui Xing Hospital and the forensic institution will cooperate.”
Officer Zhang suddenly felt a chill run down his spine. This case was more complicated than he had imagined.
It was midday when they left the police station. The early summer weather was so hot that people were sweating profusely.
“Lawyer Gu, when you finished speaking, there was a moment when I felt like our Galaxy Group had already won!” Xu Wen couldn’t help but gush compliments to Gu Yuxi as soon as they exited the station.
The moment the words left his mouth, he received a cold look from his Little President Luo, and he immediately shut up.
Luo Panzhi calmly withdrew his gaze. “You two go back first. I have something to take care of.”
He raised his hand and loosened his collar. The shirt, which had been buttoned up immaculately to the very top, was now pulled loose, though a close look revealed a thin layer of sweat on his neck.
A closer look showed that the collar was damp with sweat.
Gu Yuxi’s eyes fell on the white patch of his side neck that Luo Panzhi exposed while tugging at his collar, the faint network of veins, and the sweat clinging to it. His eyes gradually deepened.
“Where are you going?”
Luo Panzhi casually glanced sideways at Gu Yuxi, but instantly pulled his gaze back. “During lunch break, are you managing where your boss goes? Lawyer Gu, you’re asking for a bit too much.”
Everyone has a temper.
Gu Yuxi silently watched Luo Panzhi. The man’s receding figure seemed wrapped in a flood of emotions reflected in his eyes. The sour, heavy feeling in his mood was something he couldn’t explain or alleviate. After a moment, he lowered his gaze, forcing a self-deprecating smile.
“My apologies.”
Luo Panzhi’s face instantly went black.
From now on, the word ‘apologies’ (maofan) was officially blacklisted from his vocabulary.
With a loud thud, the door of the black Maybach was forcefully slammed shut, and the car sped away.
Gu Yuxi watched the direction Luo Panzhi had left in, not moving his feet for a long time. He couldn’t even explain what he was feeling right now, or why he felt the need to explain what happened to him after Luo Panzhi made that sarcastic comment.
Such a sudden, serious explanation might have been perceived by Luo Panzhi as a rebuttal, or even defiance.
In any case, Luo Panzhi was angry.
He could feel it.
“Lawyer Gu, are you and Little President Luo having a cold war?”
Gu Yuxi looked at Xu Wen. He hesitated for two seconds. “No.”
They were currently just in a superior-subordinate relationship. The term ‘cold war’ seemed appropriate only for friends or a relationship beyond friendship.
“Then why did Little President Luo ask me to investigate where you went last weekend, what you did, who you were with, and also ask me to investigate if you have a boyfriend.”
“No.”
Xu Wen was stunned by the near-instantaneous reply. He stared at Gu Yuxi. “Ah?”
So, which question did ‘No’ answer?
Gu Yuxi didn’t say anything more. He unlocked his car, got in, and politely asked Xu Wen, “Are you heading back to the group too?”
Xu Wen shook his head. “I drove too.”
“Alright, see you in a bit.” Gu Yuxi closed the car door.
Xu Wen was left standing by the roadside near the police station, his expression serious and thoughtful. He stroked his chin, carefully analyzing Lawyer Gu’s answers. After all, he had to report back to Little President Luo soon.
After two minutes of analysis, he drew his conclusions:
Didn’t go anywhere last weekend.
Wasn’t with anyone last weekend.
No boyfriend.
Xu Wen suddenly understood. “Ohh~”
He could report back now!

When the Player Beta Accidentally Gets Pregnant
Luo Songran, the second young master of the Galaxy Group, is a free-spirited Beta player who flirts shamelessly with Alphas and Omegas because he can’t smell pheromones.
He’s great at coaxing Omegas, but he doesn’t like them to whine. If an Omega asks why he doesn’t spend more time with them, he’ll simply find another man to accompany the Omega, calling it “being considerate.”
He likes Alphas because they have good stamina. If an Alpha suddenly challenges why he likes them while also liking Omegas, he’ll laugh and say:
“Babe, out of all the people I love at first sight, you’re the one I love the most.”
After this, he falls for a handsome, aloof, older Alpha uncle.
He pursued him affectionately and relentlessly for a while.
He orchestrated a wild night, and shortly after the one-night stand with the Alpha uncle, he, despite his low-fertility Beta constitution, got pregnant?!
Because of this, he heartlessly dumped the man.
What good is an Alpha who can’t even hold an umbrella over a roof?
Who knew the Alpha uncle would find him after learning about the pregnancy? Who knew the Alpha uncle was the CEO of the other group in their major cooperation project? Who knew the Alpha uncle was actually good friends with his fathers!
“This is primarily my fault. I will take responsibility.”
Luo Songran sneered. “You just want the child.”
“We’ll get married,” Duan Yizhou said.
“Married? Then how will I date other people?”
“As long as you marry me and dutifully carry the baby, I’ll allow you to play around.
One month pregnant: No clubbing, drinking, racing, or staying out late. Two months pregnant: Same as above. Three months pregnant: Same as above. Nine months pregnant: No clubbing, drinking, racing, or staying out late.
In the office—
Luo Songran exploded: “You told me I could play around?! I haven’t played at all in nine months!”
President Duan pulled his irritable wife into his arms, stroking the slightly swollen baby bump beneath the shirt. “Be good. You can play after you give birth to the baby.”
