- Chapter 29 - The Stupid but Truly Beautiful Flowerpot (Part 8)
A high-end café in the bustling city center.
This street is full of British flair, with magnificent modern Western European-style buildings; the marble tiles exude a sense of historical weight.
A string of wind chimes hangs at the shop entrance. Whenever a guest arrives, an inadvertent touch while moving makes them ring with a pleasant ding-ling sound.
The interior is spacious, and the wooden tables and chairs emit a faint scent of agarwood. English posters from the last century are casually pasted on the walls, featuring women with heavy makeup and exaggerated expressions.
A large glass tank sits on the checkout counter, where many brilliantly colored tropical fish swim freely amidst swaying water plants.
A giant sycamore tree grows at the street corner. Autumn is its season of falling; withered branches and fallen leaves cover the ground in a vast, breathtaking expanse of golden yellow.
A single fallen leaf swayed as it tumbled from a branch, eventually plummeting.
In the next second, a well-made business leather shoe stepped heavily on it. Moments later, it was crushed to pieces, making a “crunch-crunch” sound beneath the sole.
The owner of the shoe possessed pair of impossibly long legs. His form-fitting suit outlined smooth muscular lines, making his physique appear athletic with broad shoulders and a narrow waist. The man was handsome, with a high nose and deep eyes; his gaze was sharp, and the corners of his mouth were pulled into a slight downward curve, looking exceptionally arrogant.
“Welcome! Do you have a reservation, sir?” the waiter asked with a smile, addressing this man who looked wealthy and difficult to provoke.
The man didn’t even glance at her, giving a casual wave. The waiter immediately understood and stepped back with her smile unchanged, watching him stride toward a certain corner.
“Yo, arriving so early. That’s rare.” He sat down unhurriedly, crossing his hands on the tabletop and lifting his head slightly in a negotiating posture.
The person facing him had likely been waiting for a while. His face was somewhat cold, and his tone was laced with ice: “Song Hansheng, I don’t have that much patience to play with you. Once things are made clear, we stop here. We won’t disturb each other.”
The man who had only been sitting for a few seconds immediately let out a smirk, though it looked somewhat insincere. His words were full of mockery. “Stop here? Yu An, you’re truly heartless when you say that. I thought you would care about old feelings; I didn’t expect you to forget so quickly.”
“…Let the past be the past. People always have to look forward.” Yu An fell silent for a half-second before speaking stiffly.
“Look forward, heh…”
Song Hansheng added several sugar cubes to his cup, stirred it with the spoon handle, and questioned, “Then what about those ambiguous things you said should they just ‘be the past’ too? Yu An, you were clearly the one who provoked me first.”
In high school, Song Hansheng was rebellious. Although he didn’t smoke or drink heavily, he didn’t miss a beat when it came to skipping class, hanging out at bars, or getting into group fights.
His family had power and influence, so the teachers couldn’t afford to offend him and usually turned a blind eye; his classmates didn’t dare provoke him either. Only Yu An, regardless of the world’s opinion of him, treated him with sincerity.
Consequently, Song Hansheng changed his delinquent ways and began to study seriously. His late-blooming teenage feelings slowly took root during this period. However, before they could sprout, they were cut short by Yu An’s abrupt departure.
He followed his family’s arrangements, entering university while slowly taking over the family estate. Over these five years, he would occasionally think of Yu An, but as time passed, the impression gradually dissipated like heavy fog, leaving only a bit of resentment in his heart.
Was his feeling for Yu An truly love, or just a lack of closure? Was it a teenage heartbeat, or just anger and humiliation at having lost face?
Song Hansheng didn’t know himself. He had simply been enraged the moment he suddenly learned the other had returned without him knowing, and he had sought him out on impulse. After meeting, what then?
He didn’t seem to want to do anything, nor did he have much to say.
Those vague thoughts had become so thin over five years as to be almost nonexistent they couldn’t even compare to the intensity he felt the first time he saw the person in the other’s arms.
So why on earth was he inexplicably obsessed with Yu An?
Seeing Song Hansheng deep in thought with a furrowed brow, Yu An had no patience to wait for a result and said directly: “I’m very sorry for the past. My kindness was overabundant and caused unnecessary misunderstandings.”
“…How can words from your mouth sound so disgusting.” Song Hansheng admitted he was a bit repelled. He took a sip of coffee to calm his nerves. “You’re overthinking. I have no feelings for you. I just…”
He just wanted to figure out where that inexplicable restlessness in his heart came from it felt as if he were waiting to meet someone important.
Yu An wasn’t interested in his thoughts and didn’t even want to drink his coffee; his mind was entirely on his wife waiting at home: “Then the matters between us are considered cleared up, right? Can I go now?”
“Who said it’s over?” Song Hansheng raised an eyebrow, tossed his spoon aside, and leaned back lazily. “Aren’t you going to explain your wife? When did you get married?”
“It has nothing to do with you. Stop prying into other people’s family business.” Yu An’s face truly turned cold. He stood up abruptly, his gaze sweeping over the man like a knife as he warned, “You’d better not investigate him. Otherwise…”
Facing Yu An’s threat, Song Hansheng was dismissive. He didn’t even look at the other’s back, instead turning his gaze toward the golden sycamore tree outside the window and chuckling softly.
“I’m truly sorry, but I’m exactly that kind of tactless person.”
In the corner of the restaurant, it took less than ten minutes for the two men to meet, talk, and leave.
Neither of them noticed that in a shop across the street, someone had surreptitiously taken photos of them.
[Yes, yes, yes, take it like that! This angle is great!]
051 gave detailed guidance on the side while Li Rangnian held his phone to take the secret photos obediently.
He was dressed warmly today a fleece-lined white undershirt paired with a beige coat, a light-colored scarf wrapped twice around his neck and draped behind him, and a beret pulled low to cover his exquisite eyes. He looked entirely like a sneaky person.
Today’s mission was arduous. Li Rangnian discovered the relationship between the protagonist Alpha and Omega and took suggestive photos of their meeting. He intended to send them to the protagonist Omega from a private account to threaten him for money.
But the protagonist Omega didn’t care about his wife’s feelings, so in a fit of rage, he decided to seduce the protagonist Alpha to let the Omega taste the bitterness of being betrayed by his beloved.
Li Rangnian had wanted to get up early, but he hadn’t expected Yu An to want him so badly last night; both of them slept until noon.
“Hubby, aren’t you going to work today?” After a simple meal, Li Rangnian sat in his lap, his arms around the man’s neck, wearing loose loungewear.
Yu An didn’t answer; having just finished eating, he began to get handsy again. His large hand slipped under the hem of the shirt, his palm bearing thin callouses. The rough sensation sparked a wave of tingling that was impossible to ignore.
“Hubby, what are you doing…” Li Rangnian felt like he had become a glutinous rice ball, allowing the other to do whatever he wanted without any way to escape. Pleading was useless; he could only stare at the man’s movements with reddened eye-corners, trying to get a moment’s rest.
Soon, the exquisitely packaged “small cake” was unwrapped layer by layer. At this point, Yu An stopped moving again, burying his head to leave “love marks” on the cake one by one.
“I have something to do this afternoon. Wifey, let me kiss you a bit longer.” His voice was terrifyingly hoarse. Faced with the seductive spring scenery, no one could restrain themselves, yet he only kissed him until he was satisfied, then dressed him and held him in his arms without letting go.
Li Rangnian had just been relieved that he didn’t have to “deliver taxes,” only to be reminded by the system: [Host-dada, you have to do the mission today!]
“What mission?” He leaned against the man’s solid and powerful abdomen, nuzzling comfortably with his eyes squinted like a cat.
[Follow the protagonist Omega, discover the relationship between the Alpha and Omega, blackmail the Omega unsuccessfully and decide to seduce the protagonist Alpha in a fit of rage.]
051 read the script word by word.
The beauty, who was so comfortable he was about to fall asleep, woke up instantly. His peach-blossom eyes went wide, his pupils shaking: “Huh? I have to go seduce Song Hansheng? He’s so mean! What if he kills me with one punch?”
The man’s mouth was so poisonous, and his words were bitingly sharp; Li Rangnian didn’t want any contact with him at all.
051 scratched its non-existent hair and said with difficulty, [But this is a necessary plot point. If you don’t do it, the plot can’t function.]
Then, it patted its spherical body and said solemnly, [I will protect Host-dada! I definitely won’t let the protagonist Alpha hurt you!]
“Okay, I believe you, System.” The beauty pouted his small, crimson, and soft mouth, giving the small light ball a light kiss like a cloud. “Thank you, System. Mwah~”
[S-S-Soft… I really want Host-dada to kiss me again, hehehehe…] 051 was dazed with charm, its white color turning pink in a “shua” as it pounced on the beauty for a hug.
Returning to the present, Li Rangnian clicked a few photos, then flipped through the album to find that 051’s guidance was indeed useful. The two who were originally far apart looked exceptionally intimate due to the changing angles. A few photos showed them locked in a gaze with light shimmering in their eyes, creating a strong atmosphere.
Gotta send them to the protagonist Omega quickly. Li Rangnian asked the system to create a private account and anonymously sent the fresh photos all at once.
The other side replied quickly: Who are you?
Li Rangnian replied: Regardless of who I am, I’ve captured evidence of your cheating. If you don’t want your wife to find out, transfer 500,000 to me.
After sending the message, Li Rangnian felt very guilty. “This is bad. Does this count as a scam? I’m so heartless…”
It was clearly a case of “no shadow” (baseless), yet he insisted on slandering them. The beauty was a bit ashamed, his small face pinkish-white; his attire was very soft, making him look like a wrapped candy.
[It’s fine, it’s fine, Host-dada. You’re just following the plot, no need to be so self-reproachful.] 051 had just started comforting the host when the phone vibrated a few times. Messages from the other side popped up:
Give me your bank account number.
[???] While the system was confused for a moment, more messages flooded in.
Secretly taking photos of me? You’ve violated my portrait and privacy rights; I can sue you.
You know my identity. I’ll find you out sooner or later; it’s only a matter of time.
But I still choose to transfer the money to you first. Don’t let my wife see these photos, or I will make you vanish from this world completely.
I mean what I say.
…The other side’s messages were still coming, and Li Rangnian was terrified. Yu An’s family background was indeed tough, not to mention there was also a Song Hansheng; if he were truly found out, what would he do?
051 also found it incomprehensible: [No… the protagonist Omega should have refused the transfer. Why is he transferring money while threatening the Host-dada?]
“What do we do, System? I think I’ve messed up again.” Li Rangnian pouted aggrievedly, tears welling in his eyes. The corners of his eyes quickly flushed a vivid crimson, making it look as if he had been bullied.
…Wait, why say “again”?
The small light ball was actually quite panicked, fearing the host would repeat the mistakes of the last world. But it talked tough, still able to comfort the host: [It’s fine, Host. They can’t find me. Just continue the mission next!]
Although Song Hansheng was not far away, it was clearly not a good time. Yu An had told him to be good and stay home before leaving; he was likely on his way back now, so Li Rangnian had to hurry back too.
Until now, the silly beauty hadn’t realized that he was being pampered in a small villa, with no job, no social circle of his own, and in an unfamiliar place the only person he could rely on was the protagonist Omega.
Like a dodder flower, he could only survive by relying on a stronger plant.
The long-lost “Night” Bar. People of all kinds were dancing wildly on the dance floor, and the music was deafening.
At the same location, this time Li Rangnian didn’t meet Gu Yin, but a different bartender.
The beauty’s frame was thin, his expression sorrowful and sad, his long hair slightly messy. Sitting on a high stool, he downed glass after glass until he quickly made himself drunk.
He leaned against the bar counter, his eyes misty so he couldn’t see anything clearly. His face wore an unnatural crimson flush, and his body was as soft as a puddle of water.
Countless gazes roamed over him, coveting his slender “willow waist” revealed by his slumped posture, his red lips soaked in a layer of moisture, his long and straight legs, and the “capital” that was not to be underestimated.
After waiting for a long time without anyone coming to pick him up, those people finally couldn’t restrain themselves, surrounding him like beasts scenting prey.
“Beauty, alone?”
“Drinking alone. Watch out for ill-intentioned people taking you away. Want to come with me?”
“Beauty, how about me? Am I qualified to have you for a night?”
The surrounding voices buzzed together into a noisy mass, incredibly loud. The beauty tried his best to open his eyes to look but found everything was a blur of silhouettes.
He really wanted to tell those noises to vanish, but he had no strength to speak, only able to lie there softly.
The people who had originally just started a conversation got ideas; one by one, hands began to touch him roaming over his chest, abdomen, and thighs. Malicious, lewd gazes fell hotly across his entire body; they were a hair’s breadth away from pinning him there or dragging him away.
“No… don’t… get lost!” Li Rangnian still possessed a trace of consciousness. He dizzily lifted a hand, wanting to shoo away the mosquitoes surrounding him, but someone grabbed it and he couldn’t pull it back.
The man kept touching his smooth, tender hand, saying with a giggle: “Oh, the beauty’s hand is so soft. Let ‘Gege’ give it a good kiss… Ah!”
In the next second, he received a fierce punch to the face, instantly breaking his nose bridge. Blood sprayed out.
He let out a scream and rolled on the floor, soon becoming covered in dust.
“A bunch of scum! Let go of him!” A furious male voice suddenly rang out. The rest were stunned. Looking back, they discovered Gu Yin’s figure.
The blonde man was fuming with rage, his eyes bloodshot. His gaze was as cold as if looking at a dead person, and the veins in his neck were bulging; he had clearly lost his reason, letting out a thunderous roar like a lion: “ALL OF YOU, GET LOST!”
The people with filthy minds were terrified out of their wits and quickly fled. Only the beauty was left sitting there, his eyes shimmering with moisture as he stared at him.
Seeing that he had chased away the mosquitoes, the beauty actually gave a silly smile. Two small dimples appeared at the corners of his mouth, and his voice was sweet and soft: “Thank you… thank you.”
Then he tilted his head, making a confused expression. “You… why are you here?”
Gu Yin rushed forward, wrapped him in a coat, lifted him in a bridal carry, and left the bar.
No one in the bar dared to stop him. Those who had seen the beauty being molested but didn’t dare speak up were similarly silent, simply watching as he took the person away.
Racing all the way, Gu Yin brought him back to his own home. He placed him gently on a large bed and gazed at his sleeping face, his heart filled with all kinds of complicated emotions.
