- Chapter 82 - She Kissed Gu Chengfeng
Gu Chengfeng had completely lost his composure. His fingers gripped the quilt with white-knuckled force. His heart trembled, and unable to restrain himself, he reached out to cup the back of her head, leaning down to capture her lips in a kiss.
Warmth gradually crawled up his neck, and the corners of his eyes flushed a faint red. It wasn’t until the air in Shen Sisi’s lungs was nearly exhausted that he finally let her go.
Dazed and lightheaded, Sisi felt a sweet, syrupy taste spreading through her heart.
“Gu Chengfeng, come here…” She beckoned with a finger. “I… I have something to tell you!”
With a face flushed red, Gu Chengfeng leaned in close to her ear. He waited for a long time, but instead of words, all he heard was the sound of steady, even breathing. He looked down—Sisi had already closed her eyes and fallen into a deep sleep.
She fell asleep!!!
Gu Chengfeng didn’t know whether to be annoyed or to laugh. He pinched her cheek gently. “You little brat, you really know how to torment a man…”
He frowned in discomfort. Breathing in the soft fragrance of her hair, inappropriate images began to flash involuntarily in his mind. No, if this continues, I’m going to make a mistake! Sisi throwing herself into his arms and kissing him was one thing; him taking advantage of her while she was incapacitated was an entirely different concept. Even though they were husband and wife, he couldn’t do that.
Gu Chengfeng clenched his fist and punched the wall hard. His knuckles nearly bled, and the impact sent a shower of plaster dust falling from the wall…
When Shen Sisi woke up the next day, she was still feeling groggy, and her head throbbed. She stared at the ceiling for a long time until it finally stopped spinning before slowly sitting up.
As soon as she got out of bed, she saw Gu Chengfeng shaving in the mirror. There were dark circles under his eyes and the bloodshot streaks hadn’t faded, proving he hadn’t slept a wink all night.
For some reason, seeing him shave made her feel like something was… off. She instinctively touched her lips, and memories of the previous night came rushing back like a tidal wave.
“Your mouth is too hard, it pricks!” Those words suddenly flashed in her ears. She remembered that when Gu Chengfeng heard that, he had actually touched the corner of his own mouth.
And then… and then… I think I kissed him!!!
Sisi’s eyes widened in horror. She couldn’t believe it was real. SHE! ACTUALLY! KISSED! GU! CHENGFENG!
Heavens above…
She grabbed the quilt and muffled her face. The way she had acted like a “drunk maniac” last night—how was she any different from a female hooligan? However, why hadn’t Gu Chengfeng stopped her? She couldn’t figure it out, nor did she have the face to ask. She could only pray that Gu Chengfeng was also drunk and remembered nothing.
Once Gu Chengfeng finished shaving, looking clean and refreshed, he rubbed his smooth chin with satisfaction. “I’ve shaved. I won’t prick you anymore…”
Without waiting for Sisi’s reaction, he quickly stood up, grabbed his overcoat, and stepped out the door. He left Sisi alone, completely petrified under the covers…
God, he wasn’t drunk. He remembers everything… I can never show my face again!
Sisi tossed and turned in bed for a long time until Xu Hongying entered with Niuniu. Niuniu climbed onto her and laughed. “Mama is a lazybones! The sun is already shining on your butt and you’re still not up!”
Xu Hongying gave Sisi a knowing, radiant look. “Sweet Niuniu, you’re still small, you don’t understand… Your Papa and Mama were… exhausted last night. Especially your Mama. Let her sleep in today; Grandma will take you for a walk, okay?”
Niuniu blinked her obsidian-like eyes. Why are Papa and Mama so tired? Did they go do manual labor last night?
Sisi was equally baffled. “Exhausted?”
Xu Hongying gave an affirmative “Mm-hmm!” “Weren’t you? That bed… it was shaking all night long!”
It seems those leeks did their job! the old lady thought to herself. She decided that when she went out for a walk later, she’d buy even more leeks for tonight. No, she’d just plant a small patch of leeks in the yard so they could have them fresh every day—until Sisi got pregnant, then she’d let the couple have a rest.
Under the covers, Sisi wanted to find a block of tofu and ram her head into it. Last night, not only did she kiss Gu Chengfeng, but she… she had made him shake the bed by himself all night? He had been drinking and then got bullied by her like that—who knows what he thought of her now? He probably thought she was some kind of sex-crazed wolf!
How humiliating!
Sisi agonized over it. No, I have to face it. When Gu Chengfeng comes back tonight, I have to apologize to him, one way or another.
She dawdled for a long time before summoning the courage to get up. She braided her hair and put on a pair of beautiful pearl earrings, looking incredibly gentle and quiet.
Seeing her mother applying clam oil (moisturizer) to her skin, Niuniu clamored to have some too. Sisi playfully tapped her nose. “You have your baby cream, why are you stealing Mama’s?”
Niuniu pouted. “I don’t like that baby cream. It doesn’t smell pretty, and it makes my skin ouchie.”
Ouchie? Sisi immediately became concerned. Niuniu pointed to her cheeks, which indeed had some tiny, dry red streaks. “It seems the cream isn’t moisturizing enough,” Sisi sighed.
Back in Jinfeng Village, the house was damp and cold year-round, so they never felt the dryness. But here in Jiangcheng, with the iron stove burning warm every day, skin moisture evaporated quickly. It was time to make a proper anti-chapping face oil for Niuniu.
“Sweetheart, wait here. Mama is going to the market today to buy materials to make a special baby oil for you.” “Yay!”
After eating a sweet potato and drinking a bowl of soy milk, Sisi hurried out to the black market. Besides the oil materials, she also needed to order glass bottles. After browsing for a bit, she settled on a small stall. The owner was a young girl, even younger than Sisi, who was carefully wiping glass bottles with a towel. Some were as small as snuff bottles—exactly what Sisi wanted.
“Little sister, how much are these bottles?”
The girl looked up tentatively, immediately struck by Sisi’s beauty. It took her a moment to recover. “Um… our glass bottles aren’t for individual sale. We only do wholesale.” She pointed to a small sign: Factory Direct, Wholesale Only.
Sisi was delighted. Isn’t that a perfect coincidence? She cleared her throat. “May I ask, what is your minimum order for wholesale?
