Most importantly, the new house had lights. She finally wouldn’t have to use a kerosene lamp anymore.

Niu Niu ran around excitedly. Shen Sisi let her and started making the bed.

The bed was new, and there were two sets of bedding in the cabinet. It would have to do for now. She would buy some new sheets and bed covers tomorrow.

Just as Shen Sisi finished, Gu Chengfeng walked in, his face serious.

“Sisi, there’s an emergency. I have to go away for a couple of days.”
