Ren’ai Physical Examination Center.

Several police cars were parked in front of the building. Amidst the festive decorations celebrating the new year, two young police officers were questioning witnesses about the explosion. The bomb squad had just withdrawn from the building. The entire group was exhausted in a scene still adorned with lanterns and streamers.

Lu Xiao, wearing his mud-covered combat boots, stepped over the charred fragments and debris scattered on the ground and approached the police tape.

“Morning, Captain Lu!”

The busy police officers nearby recognized Lu Xiao and stood up straight to salute and greet him. Just by seeing the horrific state of the scene, they all knew how dangerous last night had been.
