Did Scumbag A Get Divorced Today? - Chapter 70.1
“Sui Yu, come here quickly.” Shen Jueshu stood within the mist, looking at her with a soft, gentle smile. She reached out her hand in an inviting gesture.
“Shen Jueshu…” Sui Yu whispered, stepping forward almost instinctively, wanting to hold her hand. Her eyes followed Shen Jueshu closely. It should have been such a beautiful moment, yet her eyes slowly turned red, and her heart ached as if it were about to explode.
Would everything be okay if she just caught up and pulled her into a hug?
Sui Yu quickened her pace, eventually breaking into a run. But for every step she took forward, Shen Jueshu drifted one step farther away. No matter how hard she chased, she couldn’t reach her. Not even the tips of her fingers.
“Shen Jueshu!” Sui Yu called out, tears streaming down her face. Shen Jueshu, who could never stand to see her cry, just smiled at her quietly this time—making no move to approach.
Sui Yu couldn’t hold it in anymore and began to sob uncontrollably.
“Don’t go… Don’t make me chase after you in vain…”
Even in her sleep, Sui Yu cried like her heart was breaking. Her real body trembled as she curled up in bed, weeping silently.
“Still like this?” Li Jiang looked at her, heart aching. Since Sui Yu got together with Shen Jueshu—being spoiled and cherished by her—when had she ever shown such an expression?
Jiang Siyue’s eyes were red as well. She remained silent, gazing at Sui Yu lying unconscious in the hospital bed. Her thoughts drifted to another room, where Shen’s elderly parents lay, also unconscious. Overnight, everything had fallen apart.
Sui Yu hadn’t woken up. Shen’s parents collapsed when they heard what had happened to Shen Jueshu. Everything had spun into chaos.
Li Jiang stepped closer to the bed and looked at Sui Yu for a long moment before speaking. “Sui Yu, pull yourself together. Are you really going to let your baby be lost like this?”
Her voice was a bit cold, but her concern was real. When Sui Yu was first rushed to the hospital, the doctors found she had fainted due to emotional shock. Then they discovered something else—Sui Yu was pregnant.
She was pregnant. And none of them had known.
“Baby… baby…” Sui Yu murmured, her eyes still shut. Even so, tears streamed down from the corners of her eyes. Her pain was beyond words.
Her Shen Jueshu… her baby… both gone.
Seeing her like this, Li Jiang took a deep breath and suddenly grabbed her shoulders, shaking her hard. Through clenched teeth, she said, “Do you really think this is what Shen Jueshu would’ve wanted to see?!”
The shaking drained all color from Sui Yu’s face. She struggled to push Li Jiang away and collapsed at the side of the bed, dry heaving in agony.
Jiang Siyue’s eyes lit up with hope. She rushed forward and gently patted Sui Yu’s back, choking up. “You’re finally awake…”
These past few days, it was like Sui Yu had been trapped in a nightmare. She kept calling Shen Jueshu’s name, crying in her dreams—but no matter what, she just wouldn’t wake up.
Having not eaten in days, Sui Yu could only retch up bile. Her eyes, swollen and red, stared blankly at the pale floor. Her tears fell, one after another.
Seeing her like this made both Jiang Siyue and Li Jiang feel utterly helpless.
“Don’t act like you’re ready to give up on life just yet. Eat something—your baby needs nutrients. Of course, if you don’t want this child, then just ignore what I said.” Li Jiang’s tone was firm. Right now, they had to give Sui Yu at least one reason to keep going.
“B-baby?” Sui Yu murmured, slowly lifting her head to look at Li Jiang, clearly confused.
Seeing that her reaction wasn’t faked, Li Jiang frowned. “You didn’t know you were pregnant?”
That didn’t make sense. If Sui Yu was pregnant, she and Shen Jueshu must have gone to the hospital together to have the embryo implanted. How could she not know?
“I’m… pregnant?”
Sui Yu froze as if struck by lightning. She raised her hand gently and placed it on her stomach. There was a child inside? But how could that be?
A wild, desperate thought flashed through her mind. Her eyes lit up with a sudden spark. Grabbing Jiang Siyue’s hand tightly, she stared into her eyes and asked, “Li Jiang wasn’t lying, was she? I really am pregnant?”
Startled by the intensity in her gaze, Jiang Siyue hesitated slightly, but eventually nodded. “Y-yes. You are.”
The moment she heard the confirmation, Sui Yu swung her legs off the bed, trying to get up. But her body was too weak, and she immediately stumbled forward. Thankfully, Li Jiang caught her just in time.
“What are you doing?!” Li Jiang’s voice rose in frustration. Did she not realize the condition she was in?
Sui Yu looked up, tears and laughter mixing on her face. “Take me to the Sui family estate. Please, Li Jiang—take me there.”
She was overwhelmed with urgency, panic, and a surge of hope so strong that her entire body trembled.
“You’re too weak right now. You need to stay in bed and rest,” Li Jiang said, frowning in hesitation.
“No! Please… just take me there. I’ll rest afterward, I promise. I can’t wait. Not even a moment.” Sui Yu’s voice was low and hoarse, almost pleading.
“I’ll take you!” Jiang Siyue suddenly spoke up. “But after this, no matter what, you need to stay in the hospital and take care of your body.”
Sui Yu’s tears fell instantly. She choked out, “Thank you, Siyue…”
Since Jiang Siyue had agreed, Li Jiang didn’t argue any further. The two of them helped Sui Yu out of bed and guided her outside.
Jiang Siyue handed her a coat and helped her into the backseat, sitting beside her, while Li Jiang got into the driver’s seat and started the car.
During the drive, Sui Yu stared anxiously out the window. Her body was tense, stiff with anticipation, hoping desperately they would arrive soon.
Seeing her like that, Jiang Siyue didn’t ask anything further. She simply stayed quietly by her side.
Li Jiang drove as fast as she could, and as soon as the car stopped at the gates of the Sui family estate, Sui Yu opened the door and got out. Her face was pale and her steps unsteady, but she moved forward without hesitation. Li Jiang and Jiang Siyue rushed to stay close to her, afraid she might collapse at any moment.
Uncle Li, seeing her in such a fragile state, let out a long sigh, sadness in his eyes. He had once believed she and Shen Jueshu would have a happy ending… but things had turned out so differently.
“Ah…” Uncle Li shook his head, uncertain how to even begin speaking. After capturing A’Jing, he had learned everything that had happened.
Sui Yu pushed away Jiang Siyue’s supporting hand and dropped to her knees in front of Uncle Li. Looking up at him, her eyes filled with desperation, she pleaded, “Uncle Li, please help me. I’m begging you.”
“She’s not dead. She can’t be dead!”
At those last words, tears burst from Sui Yu’s eyes. She was sure of it. Shen Jueshu was so capable—how could she possibly be gone?
Jiang Siyue and Li Jiang stood to the side, shocked by Sui Yu’s sudden actions. They looked to Uncle Li, confused about why Sui Yu would come here to beg him.
Uncle Li let out a deep sigh and said softly, “Sui Yu… in a situation like that, no one could survive.”
“No, she could! She absolutely could!” Sui Yu said, her voice rising in emotion. Then she looked toward Jiang Siyue and Li Jiang, her voice raspy, “I need to speak with Uncle Li alone. Could you two wait outside for a bit?”
Li Jiang glanced at her, then at Uncle Li. After a moment’s hesitation, she nodded and led Jiang Siyue out, giving them privacy.
Once they were alone, Sui Yu’s voice trembled as she said, “Uncle Li, she’s still alive. She has to be. Please test me—I’m pregnant, and this child originally came from Shen Jueshu’s body!”
As she spoke about the child, Sui Yu began to laugh and cry again. If the child had been transferred to her, it had to be because of Shen Jueshu. And if Shen Jueshu had been capable of doing that, then she couldn’t have died so easily.
Uncle Li’s expression shifted in surprise. He examined Sui Yu and ran a scan—and sure enough, there was undeniable life within her womb.
This… this was real.
Then Sui Yu told Uncle Li everything—who Shen Jueshu truly was, the full truth of her identity, and all the events leading up to this moment.
Choking back sobs, she pleaded, “Uncle Li, after knowing all this, how can you expect me to believe she’s really dead?”
Uncle Li was stunned into silence. Shen Jueshu… was the founder of the Traverser’s Association?
His face turned solemn. He activated his side’s system to search for any signs of Shen Jueshu’s life signal. But even after a thorough sweep, there was still—nothing.
No trace at all.
“Sui Yu, you need to understand—” Uncle Li finally said, his voice heavy, “even if she’s not dead, I don’t have the power to find her.”
He didn’t tell Sui Yu everything he knew. She couldn’t bear another blow right now.
“I’ll find her myself!” Sui Yu pleaded, her voice trembling with urgency. “I’m only asking for your help—to give me the ability to search for her!”
Seeing her like this, Uncle Li shook his head and sighed. “Foolish child.”
Not just her. The Sui Yu from before… was the same. A fool for love.
Tears streamed down Sui Yu’s face, but what else could she do? Her whole world—her purpose—was Shen Jueshu.
“Even if she didn’t die and fell into a spatial rift, she could’ve accidentally ended up in some unknown world. But you have to understand—there are countless worlds out there. In this endless multiverse, how do you expect to find one person?”
If they had a signal, a trace—anything—it would be different. But there was nothing. No sign of Shen Jueshu’s location at all.
“I don’t care how many worlds there are. I’ll search every single one if I have to!” Sui Yu’s voice was firm and unshakable. As long as there was even the slightest chance that Shen Jueshu was still alive, she would never give up.
Uncle Li was momentarily stunned by her resolve.
“Uncle Li, please… I’m begging you,” Sui Yu cried, still kneeling on the ground. “I’ll do whatever you ask—anything—just help me. Help me gain the strength to find her!”
She had never bowed to anyone in her life. But for Shen Jueshu, she was willing to kneel, to beg.
Uncle Li’s heart twisted with emotion. He wanted to help her up, but Sui Yu refused to rise. At last, he let out a long sigh and stood. “I’ll ask the higher-ups.”
“Thank you. Thank you so much!” Sui Yu said, almost breathless with emotion. If Uncle Li was willing to ask, then that meant—there was still hope.
A light screen suddenly appeared in front of Uncle Li. Sui Yu didn’t know how he was communicating, but his mouth was moving. She couldn’t hear a single word.
Time passed.
Eventually, the screen disappeared. Uncle Li turned his eyes toward her.
Sui Yu suddenly felt her heart tighten. She wanted to hear his response—but she was afraid, too.
“Sui Yu,” Uncle Li said slowly, “we’ll help you. But there’s one condition.”
Just hearing the first part of his sentence, Sui Yu collapsed to the floor in relief. She looked up at him with tears still clinging to her lashes, her smile wide and wild. It was the expression of someone teetering on the edge—both broken and overjoyed.
“No matter the condition, I agree.”
As long as she had a way to search for Shen Jueshu, she would pay any price.
Uncle Li gave a helpless smile. “You’re agreeing without even knowing what the condition is. You really are reckless.”
He continued, “The condition is that for the rest of your life, you must serve the Spatial Management Bureau.”
Sui Yu froze.
She hadn’t expected that.
Seeing her hesitation, Uncle Li asked, “Do you still accept?”
“Yes!” she answered immediately, afraid he might take it back. “I agree!”
Uncle Li chuckled warmly. “Then congratulations. We’re colleagues now.”
A moment later, Sui Yu felt a strange sensation in her head, as if something had been implanted. A mechanical voice echoed inside her mind.
The Spatial Management Bureau’s system had completed its binding process.
Then came a barrage of robotic instructions—an onboarding tutorial of sorts. A beginner’s guide, as the system called it.
Sui Yu raised her hand to cover her face, tears soaking her palm. No matter what, at least now she had the chance to search for Shen Jueshu.
When Jiang Siyue and Li Jiang saw Sui Yu coming out, they were both stunned by the faint smile on her face. They exchanged a quick glance—could it be that Shen Jueshu was really still alive?
“Ah Yu, should we go back to the hospital?” Jiang Siyue asked cautiously, doing her best to stay calm despite the hope rising in her chest.
Sui Yu looked at her, fully aware that these past few days, it was thanks to the two of them running around and doing everything they could that things hadn’t gotten even worse.
“Yes. I promised both of you—I’ll take care of my body.” She lowered her head and gently stroked her stomach, murmuring, “And for the baby… our baby. I’ll take good care of them.”
This child was hers and Shen Jueshu’s. With Shen still missing, she couldn’t let anything happen to their baby.
Hearing that, Jiang Siyue finally let out a sigh of relief. She and Li Jiang helped Sui Yu back to the hospital.
Once they returned to the room, Sui Yu asked suddenly, “Do Mom and Dad know?”
Jiang Siyue and Li Jiang exchanged another glance. Finally, Jiang Siyue nodded. “Godfather and Godmother fainted when they found out… They haven’t been doing well these past few days.”
Sui Yu paused, hesitation flashing across her face. She was afraid to face Shen’s parents. They had trusted her with their daughter, and now this had happened. But hiding wasn’t an option either. She owed them a response—she had to face them.
At the very least, she couldn’t let their health continue to deteriorate because of this.
“Where are they?” she asked quietly. “Please take me to them.”
Jiang Siyue nodded and led her next door. Inside the room, Shen’s father sat beside Shen’s mother’s bed. He looked like he had aged years in just days. His back was hunched, his spirit broken.
When he heard them come in, he turned to look. Even though Sui Yu was standing right in front of him, his eyes remained dull and lifeless.
The pain of losing a child had emptied him.
Tears welled up in Sui Yu’s eyes. She would’ve preferred him scolding her or giving her one of his usual disapproving looks. Even rolling his eyes at her would’ve been better than this silence.
Without a word, Jiang Siyue and Li Jiang stepped back and quietly left the room.
Sui Yu walked forward and knelt in front of Shen’s father. Her voice trembled as she said, “I’m sorry. I failed to protect her.”
Shen’s father stared at the Alpha before him, then slowly looked away. No one wanted to see this happen. Even if he wanted to blame her, he couldn’t bring himself to do it anymore.
“Dad,” Sui Yu said softly, “I believe she’s still alive. I swear I’ll find her.”
She had to give them hope. At the very least, that hope might keep them going.
His gaze sharpened slightly as he looked back at her, confused by her words.
