Did Scumbag A Get Divorced Today? - Chapter 65.2
She looked up, and there on the tombstone were two women, leaning close together in the photo. They were both beautiful, their eyes bright with life, smiles warm as they looked into the camera.
Sui Yu’s nose stung even more. She gently placed the flowers down and crouched, lifting her hand to trace the brows and eyes of the two women in the photo.
Tears slipped silently from the corners of her eyes.
So… she did have mothers.
In her hazy, confused existence in the real world, she’d always thought she was someone abandoned by her birth parents—someone inherently unworthy of love. But now she realized… she had two wonderful, loving mothers.
Shen Jueshu knelt beside her, taking out a tissue to gently wipe away her tears.
“If they could see how things are now,” she said softly, “I think they’d be comforted.”
They couldn’t escape their fates—but their child had.
“Would they really be comforted?” Sui Yu asked in a small, uncertain voice. “They never met me. To them, I’m just a secondary personality living in their daughter’s body. Would they really accept me?”
“Of course they would,” Shen Jueshu replied. “You’re a wonderful person.”
She looked at the two women in the photo, who seemed, in that moment, to be gazing back at them—warm and gentle, like they were looking at their child.
“As long as the original Sui Yu accepted you,” Shen Jueshu continued, “then your moms definitely would too.”
Sui Yu turned to look at her, trying to read her face, to see if she really believed that.
Then Shen Jueshu took her hand and turned toward the tombstone.
“I never formally introduced myself,” she said to the two women. “My name is Shen Jueshu. You met me when I was a little girl. I’m Sui Yu’s wife now, and I hope you’ll come to like me.”
Her words were sincere, and they touched Sui Yu deeply. Her emotions began to settle. She tightened her grip on Shen Jueshu’s hand and began eagerly telling her mothers all about Shen Jueshu—how wonderful she was, how lucky they were to have her.
The more she spoke, the more animated she became—her eyes sparkled, her hands gestured wildly. She was positively glowing with pride.
Shen Jueshu listened on, torn between laughter and embarrassment. She tried tugging at Sui Yu’s sleeve to stop her, but Sui Yu was oblivious, still caught up in her enthusiastic monologue, her gaze earnest as she told her mothers how great her wife was—hoping they would like her even more.
Shen Jueshu: “…”
Forget it. She gave up trying to stop her.
By the time Sui Yu’s throat was dry, she finally paused. Her long speech had practically deified Shen Jueshu, making it sound like marrying into the Sui family had been the greatest blessing in the world.
At one point, Shen Jueshu had nearly buried her face in her hands out of secondhand embarrassment.
But it did have one good effect—Sui Yu’s mood had noticeably improved. When she looked at the two women in the photo again, her eyes held the quiet reverence of a child, and she promised aloud that she and Shen Jueshu would visit them often.
Shen Jueshu also respectfully said a few words of her own before leading Sui Yu to a nearby grave—the resting place of the Sui family’s patriarch and his wife.
Looking at the photo of the elderly couple, both of their hearts ached. They had been good people, but ended up puppets of the storyline.
Eventually, the two descended the hill and returned to the car. Shen Jueshu handed Sui Yu a bottle of water and asked gently,
“Are you still feeling overwhelmed?”
Sui Yu took a sip from the bottle in her hand. The cool water soothed her dry throat, and her complexion brightened slightly.
“Still a little,” she admitted quietly, “but I’m feeling much better.”
Shen Jueshu looked at her tenderly. After giving her a couple more sips, she took the bottle back and drank from it herself without hesitation, then capped it and gave Sui Yu’s hand a reassuring squeeze.
“It’s alright. I’ll always be here with you.”
At that moment, Shen Jueshu had no idea that one day, she would fail to keep that promise.
“Mm!” Sui Yu responded firmly, gripping her hand tighter—as if to hold onto her forever.
After that, Shen Jueshu drove them back to the company. She dove into her work while Sui Yu reviewed test data. The new suppressant they were developing looked promising—once it passed final approval, it could soon be released to the public.
But during that time, Sui Yu received a call from one of the bodyguards.
Fu Xin wanted to see her.
Sui Yu was stunned for a moment. Had Fu Xin really broken so soon? She thought she’d hold out a few more days at least.
She informed Shen Jueshu, then drove straight to the villa.
Inside, she found Fu Xin seated with her head bowed—looking even more haggard than the day before.
“You asked to see me. What do you want to say?” Sui Yu sat down on a chair the bodyguard had brought over. She glanced once at Fu Xin’s disheveled state, then lowered her eyes and didn’t look again.
Fu Xin looked up. She saw the stark contrast between Sui Yu’s composed, radiant appearance and her own miserable condition.
As a traveler who’d crossed through countless worlds, she had always stood above others with the power of her system. No matter where she went, she reigned supreme.
Yet here—because of this Sui Yu—she had fallen flat.
How could she not hate it? And yet, no matter how bitter or unwilling she felt, she had to face reality now.
“If you want answers, ask,” Fu Xin said hoarsely.
Seeing her like this, Sui Yu became more cautious—she didn’t believe so easily now. Narrowing her eyes, she asked,
“You suddenly had a change of heart? Why?”
Just yesterday, even in that state, she’d gritted her teeth and refused to speak. And now, after just one night, she was ready to cooperate?
Fu Xin’s eyes darkened with resentment. She raised her hand, showing Sui Yu the raw wound in her palm where the chain had pierced through her flesh.
“Let’s see how long you would last in my place,” she sneered.
Sui Yu glanced at the injury, then replied honestly, “I’m not like you. I’m practical. I’d have talked before the chain pierced anything.”
After all, if you were going to give in eventually, why not do it earlier and save yourself the pain?
Fu Xin stared at her, wide-eyed. How could she say something so shameless so casually?!
“But that’s not the point, is it?” Sui Yu said, her tone turning cold. “What I want to know is the real reason you’re talking now.”
Fu Xin lowered her gaze, a bitter smile tugging at her lips.
“I need to get out of here. If they find out I’ve been caught by you people, I’ll be abandoned.”
After all, the Traveler’s Association was a prideful organization. They would never tolerate one of their agents being captured by a native. That kind of failure, to them, was weakness. And the weak—were always expendable.
“Oh~” Sui Yu replied, feigning realization.
“Then tell me—why is your organization so hostile toward us? Why send so many people into this world?”
Fu Xin’s expression dimmed. She shook her head.
“We’re just following orders from the President. It was the President who sent me to break you two apart.”
Sui Yu frowned. “But what good does it do you to break us up? We’re not even from the same world. Why does our relationship bother you?”
Fu Xin swallowed hard. Her voice dropped.
“You’re bothering our President.”
Sui Yu: “…Your President must live near the ocean with how much they love meddling—in heaven, in earth, and in people’s love lives.”
But after her sarcasm, she asked more seriously, “And what about Shen Jueshu? She’s the protagonist of this world. Why do you want her?”
At the mention of Shen Jueshu, Fu Xin tensed. Her tone lowered even further.
“It’s not us. The President wants her. We don’t ask why—we just follow orders.”
Sui Yu narrowed her eyes at that. Her lips curved into a cold smile.
“Really? Because I don’t believe you. So, what now?”
Fu Xin’s body began to tremble slightly. She seemed genuinely afraid of this version of Sui Yu.
“Fu Xin, even now—you’re still trying to play games?” Sui Yu’s voice was chilly.
“I… I…” Fu Xin stammered, her throat tightening. She tried to speak, but no matter how hard she tried, the words just wouldn’t come out. Finally, she closed her eyes in resignation.
“The rest… I’m not allowed to say.”
Anything involving that person was forbidden territory.
Sui Yu stared at her in silence for a moment. Then she asked:
“Besides that ring, is there any other way to sever the connection between you and your system?”
This—was the most critical question.
Fu Xin’s eyes widened. She hadn’t expected Sui Yu’s ambitions to be this big. Did she really want to strip them of their systems entirely?
“What? That’s classified too?” Sui Yu asked, a faintly mocking smile playing at her lips.
“You won’t be able to do it,” Fu Xin said, voice soft and bitter.
“Our systems are all connected to the central mainframe. Only high-permission systems can strip other systems from their hosts. Once a system is removed, the person becomes just an ordinary human.”
It didn’t matter if she revealed that much. Sui Yu might be able to trap her, but she didn’t have a high-level system herself. Knowing this wouldn’t help her.
“I see. Then—where’s your main base? Who are the ones with high-level systems? What’s your permission tier?” Sui Yu asked smoothly.
Fu Xin looked like she’d just been slapped.
“You’re not actually thinking of… controlling those high-level system users, are you?”
Sui Yu raised an eyebrow and smiled.
“Why not?”
“Stop dreaming,” Fu Xin said, exasperated.
“You can control me because my system is low-level and has limited functions. Your ring can suppress it completely. But if you go up against someone with a high-permission system, your ring won’t even make a dent.”
Sui Yu gave a faint smile.
“So what if that’s the case? I still have to try, don’t I? What—should I just sit back and wait to be slaughtered like a lamb?”
Fu Xin was momentarily at a loss for words.
“You still haven’t answered me,” Sui Yu said calmly. “Where is your headquarters? Who’s stationed there?”
Fu Xin fell silent for a moment but eventually gave in.
Most of the Travelers were currently living in a villa on the outskirts of the city. Including herself, there were five Travelers in total in this world—three men and two women.
Sui Yu listened carefully, then narrowed her eyes slightly, her voice still light but sharp.
“You’re still playing games with me. Aside from you, who’s the other woman? What’s her identity? You haven’t said.”
“I…” Fu Xin shut her eyes tightly, then gritted her teeth and confessed:
“She’s our President—the one with the highest system authority. She can control all of our systems at will.”
Sui Yu’s eyes widened just a bit. She had already guessed that the President was the one targeting Shen Jueshu, but she hadn’t expected her to be personally present in this world.
“What does she look like? What’s her name?”
Fu Xin shook her head.
“We only ever call her ‘President.’ Her name isn’t something I have the clearance to know. And even the face I see—probably isn’t her real one.”
Sui Yu’s expression darkened slightly.
“You mean she can change her appearance?”
“With high enough clearance, changing appearances is easy,” Fu Xin confirmed.
Sui Yu’s mind raced. If what Fu Xin said was true, then this so-called President could disguise herself as anyone and get close to them.
And they wouldn’t even see it coming.
She took a deep breath, then asked one final question:
“If I had gone with you—what would’ve happened to me?”
Fu Xin froze, her face tensing. Her voice came out low:
“You would’ve been handed over to the President… and there’s a very high chance you would’ve been erased.”
Sui Yu let out a cold laugh, full of scorn. She stood up, brushing off her clothes.
“Well, thank you for clearing a few things up. If I do let you leave, you know what that requires of you, don’t you?”
“Y-Yes,” Fu Xin replied stiffly. She didn’t need Sui Yu to spell it out. After everything that had happened these past few days, she already knew not to breathe a word. If they found out… execution would be inevitable.
Satisfied, Sui Yu nodded and turned to leave—but then paused midway and asked over her shoulder:
“Does your organization have a way to confirm whether I’ve really been erased?”
“Yes,” Fu Xin answered after a moment of surprise.
“Then,” Sui Yu continued, “do you have a way to fake that outcome?”
Fu Xin hesitated. She looked at the profile of Sui Yu’s face, quiet for a few seconds before replying cautiously,
“It’s possible… but I can’t guarantee it’ll fool them 100%.”
Hearing that, Sui Yu smiled.
“Take care and heal up. I’ll come see you again in a few days.”
She left the room and instructed the doctors stationed there to treat Fu Xin properly. At the same time, she returned all of Fu Xin’s electronic devices to her—at least enough to make it appear, to anyone watching, that nothing was amiss.
—
After leaving the villa, she returned to the company. Shen Jueshu had already reviewed the surveillance footage and had a general idea of what had been said. Perhaps anticipating Sui Yu’s return, she had ordered all of Sui Yu’s favorite treats.
Looking at the milk tea and fresh fruit laid out, Sui Yu’s eyes lit up instantly. She wrapped her arms around Shen Jueshu’s waist and asked happily,
“You ordered all this? I thought you said it was too sugary?”
Especially from someone who always insisted she exercise.
Held in Sui Yu’s arms, Shen Jueshu’s lips curved into a faint smile.
“Sweets improve your mood.”
In truth, she was worried Fu Xin’s words might have upset Sui Yu, so she wanted to cheer up her little pup.
Sui Yu beamed, giving her a loud kiss on the lips. Her eyes sparkled with joy.
Shen Jueshu chuckled softly.
“Come on, eat.”
Sui Yu pierced the straw into the milk tea, but instead of drinking it first, she held it up to Shen Jueshu.
“You first.”
Shen Jueshu was already used to this. She leaned forward, lips closing around the straw as she looked up at Sui Yu.
Caught in her gaze, Sui Yu froze for a moment. Then her eyes shifted to the straw Shen Jueshu was sipping from—and suddenly, her entire face flushed bright red.
T-this… Her fingers curled slightly around the cup as a memory surged to the surface: the warm, wet, teasing sensation of lips and tongue on her fingertips…
Seeing her sudden change in expression, Shen Jueshu arched her brow in satisfaction. She knew she’d hit the mark.
This little perv never failed to deliver with her lightning-fast imagination.
Sui Yu’s eyes shimmered with emotion as she watched Shen Jueshu. After she finished sipping, Sui Yu, still blushing, gently brought the straw to her own lips and took a small sip.
Shen Jueshu had ordered it with reduced sugar, but to Sui Yu, it was the sweetest milk tea she’d ever had.
Watching her like this, Shen Jueshu let out a quiet laugh. She really did resemble those adorable, flustered little pups who tried to act tough but had zero resistance.
Noticing her expression, Sui Yu cleared her throat and began sharing her recent concerns.
After hearing everything, Shen Jueshu didn’t respond immediately. Her brow furrowed, her expression turning faintly cold.
“If we really had to suspect someone,” she said slowly, “I do have one name in mind.”
Sui Yu looked up at her, and in perfect sync, the two of them said:
“Qi Siyu!”
They both broke into a light laugh, their shared understanding making the moment unexpectedly comforting.
Among all the people around them, Qi Siyu was by far the most out of place. Her demeanor toward Shen Jueshu had always raised suspicions—it was hard not to connect her to the so-called President.
“If it really is her… what’s her motive?” Sui Yu wondered aloud. “Is it just because she likes you? But why would that lead to all of this?”
Shen Jueshu was the protagonist of this fictional world. Qi Siyu was someone from the real world. Logically, they shouldn’t have had any connection. Could it be… she had read this novel?
And after reading it, had she fallen obsessively in love with Shen Jueshu? Then, upon gaining the ability to enter this world, followed her obsession here—only to discover that Shen Jueshu had already fallen for Sui Yu?
Could that explain everything that followed?
Shen Jueshu shook her head, a faint chill settling in her eyes.
“Maybe it’s time we considered a way to catch all the Travelers at once.”
Sui Yu suddenly grew serious.
“Wife, I have an idea. I want to see how they react to my death.”
Shen Jueshu frowned, turning to look at her.
But Sui Yu simply smiled.
“Dead people don’t show up in public.”
She leaned in closer.
“So… it’s time to make use of our basement.”
