Did Scumbag A Get Divorced Today? - Chapter 49.2
If she was in love with the main character, then how could she be allowed to be with someone else before the main character’s story was complete?
The plot would demand that she remain faithful to the heroine.
As Shen Jueshu listened, her brows furrowed slightly.
“But now,” she said slowly, “she doesn’t seem influenced by the story anymore. Why is that?”
Sui Yu thought about it. “It’s probably because we got together.”
She grew more confident in her theory.
“She’s just a supporting character. The main plot wasn’t focused on her. In stories like this, once the lead couple is happily together, the side characters who liked them are allowed to move on and start their own lives.”
So, when she and Shen Jueshu officially became a couple, the plot subtly released its grip on people like Li Jiang. She had fulfilled her role—and now, she could live freely.
“That actually makes sense,” Shen Jueshu murmured. She let out a quiet sigh.
Even she still felt the pressure of the plot at times. Maybe the reason Li Jiang’s love never got to be fulfilled… was partly because of her.
Sui Yu’s face scrunched up in regret. She looked at Shen Jueshu and said miserably,
“Then… didn’t I completely misunderstand Li Jiang before?”
She had been so rude to her—and all this time, she hadn’t realized the truth.
It was her fault, too. She hadn’t considered that those affected by the story’s influence weren’t just her and Shen Jueshu.
The two exchanged a look, both feeling slightly stuck. Things between Li Jiang and Jiang Siyue had clearly reached a complicated point. What more could they even do?
Sui Yu rubbed her face, clearly overwhelmed.
“Maybe we should just… let it play out naturally? Now that they both have free will, it’s their own decision to make, right? If the plot isn’t interfering anymore, we can just see what happens.”
Shen Jueshu nodded softly. For now, that really was the only option.
Over the next few days, both Sui Yu and Shen Jueshu quietly kept an eye on the situation between Jiang Siyue and Li Jiang. But no matter how closely they watched, the two seemed to be living entirely separate lives. Siyue was busy with training and publicity events, while Li Jiang stayed focused on her CEO duties, as composed as ever. Like two parallel lines—no intersection, no contact.
“You don’t think there’s really no chance left, right?” Sui Yu asked, starting to regret how harshly she’d pushed Siyue away from Li Jiang before. From everything she’d seen, Li Jiang truly cared for Siyue—even going so far as to lower herself just to make Siyue shine brighter.
Shen Jueshu shook her head. It wasn’t their place to step in and play matchmaker.
“If the feelings are real, they’ll cross paths again eventually.”
Just as they were still debating whether to get involved, Li Yi showed up at their door.
Sui Yu and Shen Jueshu exchanged a confused glance. They didn’t have much of a relationship with Li Yi—what could she be here for?
But as soon as Li Yi walked in, she got straight to the point.
“I wanted to discuss something with you two. What do you think about forming a marriage alliance between the Li family and your families?”
Sui Yu: “???”
Shen Jueshu: “???”
They were both only daughters—and already married! How were they supposed to marry into the Li family now?
“Miss Li, please don’t set me up—I’m not divorcing my wife!” Sui Yu immediately wrapped her arms around Shen Jueshu protectively. “And my wife’s not divorcing me either!”
Was this woman trying to split them up? For a second, Sui Yu genuinely wondered if Li Yi was an agent from the Plot Preservation Bureau sent to sabotage them.
Seeing their reaction, Li Yi quickly realized they had misunderstood. Her expression turned slightly embarrassed, and she let out a helpless laugh.
“Not you two! Who would dare try to separate you?”
Everyone knew how precious Shen Jueshu was to Sui Yu. Trying to break them up was a death wish.
Once that was cleared up, both Sui Yu and Shen Jueshu finally relaxed—but they were still confused. Sui Yu asked,
“Then what exactly do you mean? The Sui and Shen families only have us as daughters, and there aren’t any secret heirs or anything.”
Li Yi felt a little awkward about her earlier phrasing. She cleared her throat, then spoke seriously.
“I meant… let’s consider an engagement between Li Jiang and Jiang Siyue.”
Sui Yu: “…”
Shen Jueshu: “…”
So that’s what she meant by “marriage alliance”—she was talking about Siyue?
Honestly, Li Yi had a sharp eye. She clearly saw Siyue’s current tension with her family. Rather than negotiating with the toxic Jiang Bosheng, it was much smarter to speak with people like them. After all, if you had to pick a partner in a power play, someone like Shen Jueshu made a lot more sense.
“Why bring this up now?” Sui Yu frowned. “Did Li Jiang send you here to persuade us?”
Li Yi looked genuinely troubled. The calm grace she normally carried was replaced with a deep worry.
“I only have one cousin—of course I want her to have someone who really understands her. So I thought I’d come ask you both what you think. How would Miss Jiang and our Jiang match up?”
Her cousin was stubborn and too proud to make a move. So if no one else was going to help, she would.
Sui Yu’s expression grew more complex.
“We’re just Siyue’s friends. We respect her right to make her own choices.”
If they started arranging her marriage for her, how would they be any different from Jiang Bosheng?
“I understand,” Li Yi said. “But now that she’s at odds with her family, and the Li family probably won’t back off easily either… If she and Jiang were together, people would think twice before causing trouble.”
After all, who would dare provoke the fiancée of the Li family’s heir?
Sui Yu answered seriously,
“She doesn’t need to be engaged for that. With me and Shen Jueshu around, no one dares touch her.”
Li Yi felt increasingly at a loss—because it was true.
“But wouldn’t an extra alliance give her more security?” she argued gently. “If our three families joined forces, Jiang Bosheng and the Li family wouldn’t dare make any moves.”
She was doing her best to present a rational argument.
But Sui Yu just shook her head.
“You’re talking to the wrong people. We’ll tell Siyue what you said—but we won’t make decisions for her.”
Then her expression turned a little strange.
“And even if they did get engaged… wouldn’t that be a little awkward? After all, Li Jiang just posted on her blog that Siyue rejected her.”
One moment it’s “she doesn’t want me,” and the next they’re engaged? That’d raise some eyebrows.
Li Yi: “…”
She suddenly had the urge to drag her cousin out and give her a beating. Why would you go post something like that?!
Shen Jueshu looked at Li Yi and shook her head gently.
“Let Siyue decide. We’ll let her know what you said.”
Li Yi’s eyes lit up. That was enough for her. Even if Siyue didn’t agree right away, at least her cousin’s feelings would be passed along.
After Li Yi left, Sui Yu turned to Shen Jueshu and burst out laughing.
“What’s so funny?” Shen Jueshu asked, smiling softly at her.
“I just realized… we’re really starting to feel like Siyue’s moms.”
Sui Yu laughed harder. “We give her money, worry about her well-being, and now we’re even discussing her marriage. We’ve officially entered mom-mode.”
Shen Jueshu shook her head with a helpless smile. But then something seemed to cross her mind. She pressed her lips together, a soft laugh escaping. Gently, she tapped her finger against Sui Yu’s cheek and said tenderly,
“Maybe this is just your warm-up for real mom duties. When we have our child someday… I think you’ll be a great mom.”
“…?”
“…!”
At first, Sui Yu didn’t quite register it. But the moment it sank in, her entire face turned crimson. She immediately avoided eye contact and muttered,
“What are you even talking about?!”
Our child?!
They hadn’t even… done anything yet! How had this escalated to children?!
Seeing her flustered like that, Shen Jueshu chuckled softly, her eyes glowing with affection.
“In our world, even two women can have children, you know? Especially with an AO pairing… The chances are even higher.”
