Your boyfriend is great. He's mine now. - Chapter 7
Shen Xubai didn’t make a sound.
“No, seriously, why did you break up?! Who initiated it?”
Su Chen spun his chair around, feeling a bit guilty. Although he didn’t like Xiao Yu and often complained to Shen Xubai that Xiao Yu wasn’t good enough for his “Brother Shen,” they had been together for three years. The reality of a true breakup still made him feel a sense of melancholy.
“Didn’t he tell you?”
“No, he didn’t.”
Shen Xubai thought indifferently: Would Xiao Yu even feel that cheating is something shameful to admit?
Seeing that he didn’t speak for a long time, Su Chen said worriedly, “Brother Shen, are you okay?”
“I’m fine.”
“Are you at home now? I’ll come over to check on you.”
“No need, the house is a mess. I’m cleaning.”
“Alright, remember to tell me if something happens.” After hanging up, Su Chen still found it hard to believe.
He knew exactly how much Xiao Yu had loved Shen Xubai in the early years. If Brother Shen had dumped Xiao Yu, Xiao Yu would likely be “weeping at the Great Wall” right now he wouldn’t have the mood to throw a bachelor party. Therefore, it was highly probable that the issue lay with Xiao Yu.
And since Brother Shen clearly sounded unhappy on the phone, it was definitely Xiao Yu’s fault.
Based on the above, it was 100% Xiao Yu’s fault.
Wait!
Xiao Yu dumped Brother Shen?
Su Chen shot out of his chair, face full of shock.
He actually dared to dump his idol, and then go out and boast about it? How is that any different from slapping me in the face?!
He dialed a number quickly. “Uncle Yang, prepare a luxury suit for me. I’m going to make him pay tonight.”
The bachelor party was held at Xiao Yu’s villa by the mountains. As soon as Su Chen stepped through the door, he was met with deafening DJ music. Laser lights swept across the dome in scarlet grids; the bartender injected liquid nitrogen into the Louis XIII cognac, white mist engulfing the golden cigar cutters lined up on the long table. Champagne and foreign spirits were splashed recklessly into platinum buckets.
Pink holographic flamingos floated on the surface of the pool, while bikini-clad internet celebrities frolicked and took photos, the splashes mixing with champagne foam. Everything exuded an air of decadent, hedonistic luxury.
Su Chen maneuvered through the crowd of handsome men and beautiful women and plopped down next to Qin Yuze.
“Yo, the Young Master has arrived.”
Qin Yuze cracked a joke, then frowned. “What kind of outfit are you wearing?”
“You don’t get it, do you? This is ‘Bonia,’ a name brand.”
“???”
“What brand? Louis Vuitton?” Qin Yuze eyed the plain white T-shirt Su Chen was wearing, confused. “Looks pretty ordinary. A new design?”
New design, my ass. It was just a regular Bonia shirt. He had seen Uncle Yang watching an old movie the other day, and feeling bored, he had joined him. Somehow, their wavelengths had gotten crossed, and he’d ended up with this outfit: a T-shirt and jeans anyone would think he was a kid coming from a tutoring session.
Damn it!
But then he thought, isn’t this just another way to humiliate Xiao Yu? So, he strutted in with his head held high.
“I’ll wear whatever I want. Don’t worry about it.”
Qin Yuze didn’t dwell on it. “Alright, you can go naked for all I care, as long as you aren’t here to trash the place.”
Su Chen gritted his teeth and flashed a dimpled smile at him.
Qin Yuze fed a drink to the lips of his newly met female companion, who was wearing a Bvlgari serpent necklace, and patted her slender waist. “Go play for a bit, I’ll find you later.”
She gave him a wink and headed off to find her friends with her champagne.
Only after the crowd cleared did Qin Yuze get serious. “Ancestor, I know you and Shen Xubai are good friends, but this is Xiao Yu’s party today. Don’t mess around.”
“Do you know the inside scoop?”
Qin Yuze looked at his “I’m-determined-to-cause-trouble” expression and sighed with a headache. “Can you just chill out?”
“I can’t! My Brother Shen is at home heartbroken, and he’s out here singing and dancing!”
“Since when does Shen Xubai get heartbroken?”
Su Chen looked at him like he was a fool. “What are you talking about? My Brother Shen is human, too.”
“Heh, I just can’t imagine it. I’ve never seen him lose his temper; he’s always so cool and detached. I actually once suspected he had some kind of emotional disorder.”
“That’s because Brother Shen has a strong core and can control his emotions well. That’s a mature man—how charming.”
Qin Yuze’s teeth ached. He looked Su Chen up and down. “Are you really straight?”
“Quit talking shit! I like gentle, cute girls, you know that.”
“Heh,” Qin Yuze sneered. “Then stop bragging about Shen Xubai all the time. Every time you mention him, your eyes start sparkling like a fanboy.”
Su Chen grew impatient. “So filthy-minded. Are you going to tell me or not?”
“Don’t be in such a rush.”
Qin Yuze folded under Su Chen’s unyielding stare. “I only heard this it might not be true.”
“Hurry up!”
“I have a girlfriend who has a friend who works at the same company as Lin Jinghe. She said Lin Jinghe and Xiao Yu have been very close lately, often taking time off together, and she even saw hickeys on him.”
“Hey, hey! Don’t be impulsive.”
Qin Yuze grabbed his arm and pinned him to the sofa. “I said it was just a rumor. Information gets passed from one person to another by now, nobody knows the truth. Don’t take it as fact.”
Su Chen was so angry his face flushed red. “So it was him. He’s been haunting us for years I should have guessed! A white lotus, a homewrecker, shameless and disgusting!”
“Alright, he’s here today, too. We’ll see what happens later.”
Su Chen shook off his grip, downed a glass of champagne, and stared fixedly at the spiral staircase, his fury unquenched.
Xiao Yu soon came down. His hair had just been styled, his sunglasses worn backward on the back of his head. He wore a wine-red shirt paired with khaki pants, accessorized with chains, and the V-neck was plunging nearly to his stomach.
“Slutty.”
Su Chen sneered. “Dressed like a feather duster.”
Qin Yuze glanced at him. “Still better than your ‘back-to-basics’ look.”
“Whose side are you on, you bastard?”
“Calm down, calm down. Keep your voice down.”
Xiao Yu had a frivolous smile on his face. “Everyone have fun! Good wine, good food, handsome men, and beautiful women everything is here. We aren’t doing this for any reason other than to be happy!”
Cheers erupted from the crowd.
“Whoo! Brother Xiao is generous!”
“Congrats to Brother Xiao for escaping the sea of misery!”
“Friends, let’s get high!”
Deafening music and wild screams quickly filled the room.
Su Chen, glass in hand, trailed behind Xiao Yu, determined to get justice for Shen Xubai.
“Oh? Su Chen? You’re here too.”
It was Su Chen’s senior, known as the “school goddess” of the Art Academy. With an angelic face and a devilish figure, she made Su Chen’s face flush. He greeted her obediently, “Hello, Senior.”
“Heehee, what are you wearing? Trying to look young? So cute.”
Su Chen hated being called “young.” “Senior, I have things to attend to. Let’s chat another time.”
“Hey, what’s the rush? It’s not easy running into you let’s chat.”
By the time Su Chen managed to get away, his target was long gone.
