- Your Boyfriend is Great! He's Mine Now
- Chapter 25 - Senior, Are You Opening Your Mouth Because You Want to Kiss?
Shen Xubai didn’t know why Gu Linyuan’s strength was so great, but he belatedly caught the overwhelming scent of alcohol. It was so strange; with such a strong smell, why hadn’t he noticed it at all a moment ago?
“Let go of me first.”
“No. If I let go, Senior will run away.”
Shen Xubai didn’t want to communicate with a drunkard, so he went along with him. “Let go first.”
Gu Linyuan actually obeyed and released his grip, only to receive a slap in the face for his lecherous behavior. The slap wasn’t held back in the slightest; it was sharp and stinging, forcing his head to tilt to the side.
However, Gu Linyuan didn’t seem to care at all. Instead, he leered as he pushed his jaw out with his tongue, his eyes growing even more excited. It smells so good. I really want another slap. If he were to say that out loud, Senior would surely be scared away.
A smile curled back onto his lips. “Senior, does your hand hurt?”
Shen Xubai had absolutely no idea how a creature like Gu Linyuan was constructed. He had been completely devoid of rationality a moment ago, but now that he had calmed down, he knew exactly how hard that slap had been. For Gu Linyuan to lash out would have been normal; after all, no one could easily accept such a blow. Yet, Gu Linyuan didn’t care in the least, instead smiling and asking if his hand hurt.
His hand did ache a little, but Gu Linyuan’s face must have hurt much more. The red, slapping mark was clearly visible on his skin. He must be in significant pain, but too embarrassed to say it out loud otherwise, why would his eyes be so red?
Gu Linyuan had no idea he was overthinking it; he was so excited he was about to explode. He couldn’t help but grasp Shen Xubai’s hand, lowering his eyes to inspect the palm’s redness, partly to hide the crimson color of his eyes caused by his immense excitement.
Warm, alcohol-laced breath brushed against his palm. Shen Xubai trembled uncontrollably. Gu Linyuan braced himself, eagerly expecting Shen Xubai to slap him again. But many seconds passed, and Shen Xubai didn’t move.
This was very wrong. Unable to help himself, he looked up. The moment their gazes met, Shen Xubai’s pupils trembled slightly. It was as if he had only just snapped out of it, and he hurriedly shook off Gu Linyuan’s grasp. This time, Gu Linyuan didn’t use any force, so he broke free instantly.
Seeing that he was about to flee again, Gu Linyuan kicked the door shut.
“Move!”
Gu Linyuan looked at him pitifully. “Senior, my face hurts so much.”
Shen Xubai said coldly, “Just move!”
“Senior, it really hurts.”
“You deserve it!”
Gu Linyuan froze for a second. “Senior is right. I truly deserve it.” He stepped aside immediately, offering a miserable smile as he walked away, muttering to himself.
Shen Xubai pulled the door open but then paused. He had heard it. Gu Linyuan had said, “I shouldn’t exist in this world.”
Thunder rumbled in his heart. It was like a midsummer thunderstorm the sky neither dark nor light, the rain neither falling nor holding back. It was infuriating. Gu Linyuan’s “I truly deserve it” was loaded with a thousand different emotions. A phone call, the stench of alcohol, the special date.
“I shouldn’t exist in this world.”
All signs pointed to the fact that Gu Linyuan was not okay.
What does that have to do with me? Shen Xubai thought calmly. If he wants to die, let him die. He didn’t intend to stay any longer.
The room returned to silence a deathly, suffocating silence. Gu Linyuan turned around, staring at his now-hollow heart. His boiling blood cooled completely, and the light in his eyes faded away entirely. Then, they lit up once again.
Shen Xubai stood at the door, his face cold, his tone slightly uneasy. “Do you have any alcohol? I want to drink too.”
Violet mood lighting flickered on. In the spacious living room, the two sat side by side, drinking while facing the Haicheng nightscape. For the most part, Gu Linyuan just watched Shen Xubai, his gaze clingy and undisguised. My older brother is still so soft-hearted.
After seeing that gray, dead look in Gu Linyuan’s eyes, Shen Xubai didn’t feel as much psychological pressure. He was just glad he had come back.
“Aren’t you going to call your friend back?”
“I don’t care about him.”
Shen Xubai glanced at him. “He’s very worried about you.”
“Fine, then.”
Gu Linyuan compromised and dialed the number. The person on the other end answered almost instantly.
“I’m not dead.”
The person on the other end responded with an “Mn,” and hung up.
?
Even as calm as Shen Xubai was, he couldn’t maintain his composure. Gu Linyuan was amused by his expression. “Senior, are you opening your mouth because you want to kiss me?”
Shen Xubai snapped his mouth shut in a second. Gu Linyuan watched him for a while, then smiled and clinked glasses with him.
“Thank you, Senior.”
Shen Xubai’s lips moved. “I’m not an interesting person, and I’m quite boring.”
Gu Linyuan didn’t know why he had suddenly said this, responding with a puzzled “Mn?”
“And I’m not very good at comforting people, either.”
His expression slowly flattened out.
“But if you want to talk, I think I’m a pretty good listener.”
Gu Linyuan stared at him for a long time so long that Shen Xubai felt like he was sitting on needles.
“Forget I said anything.”
Seeing Shen Xubai ready to back out, Gu Linyuan grabbed him with lightning speed. Are you kidding? You think I’d let you run off? He had seen with his own eyes Shen Xubai’s struggle and hesitation, and this clumsy way he had chosen to express his concern and worry. His heart felt like it was floating away, completely lost.
A smiling voice rang out: “Senior, you can try to understand me, but you won’t get anywhere with such little patience.”
Shen Xubai regretted it deeply; that person named Chen Yanzhi was definitely exaggerating.
“Let me see where to start.” Gu Linyuan stopped smiling, his gaze obscure and unreadable, as if he were searching through appropriate memories. “Let’s start with Ms. He’s birthday. Oh, Ms. He is Gu Chengzhuo’s original wife.”
Shen Xubai swallowed the words he was about to say.
“You know today is Ms. He’s birthday, right?”
Shen Xubai nodded.
“Then guess why I came here on a business trip at this specific time.”
“Coincidence?”
“No. My grandfather arranged it. Every year around this time, he finds all sorts of ways to make me leave Jiangcheng, because my existence makes Ms. He lose face.”
So that’s it. No wonder Gu Linyuan had stayed in Haicheng for the night even after his business was finished.
“I remember the first year I arrived at the Gu family home, a servant told me my grandfather had sent word for me to attend Ms. He’s birthday party. But as soon as Gu Ruoqi saw me in the banquet hall, he immediately called a few people to drag me to the backyard and beat me, calling me a bastard, calling me a…”
Gu Linyuan paused, looked up, and took a gulp of ice-cold beer. He explained, “Gu Ruoqi is Ms. He’s own son my second brother. Gu Chengzhuo is famous for being a womanizer, with illegitimate children everywhere. But do you know why Gu Ruoqi specifically hates me so much?”
Shen Xubai thought of the gossip he’d heard from Su Chen and made a tentative guess. “Because you are the only one who has been acknowledged by the Gu family?”
“That’s one reason. The most important reason is that he is only a few months older than I am.”
“Meaning, Gu Chengzhuo cheated while Ms. He was pregnant, and my existence became the biggest slap in the face to Ms. He, making her the biggest joke among the wealthy elite.”
