- You’ll Regret Stealing Him from Me — My Sister Who Took My Fiancé and Celebrated Was a Fool
- Chapter 13 - Overflowing with My Ideas ※Isabella's Perspective
“Well, it’s about time I got serious and started preparing for the party.”
Thinking about all the things I had to do from now on, I let out a small sigh, feeling slightly gloomy.
Party preparations. Honestly, they’re such a hassle. Having to think about every little detail, giving instructions to various people, double-checking everything. My elder sister used to happily take on these tedious tasks, but I just don’t understand it.
What’s so fun about it?
But it’s necessary if I want to prove my capabilities. I have to push through here. To fully secure my standing in high society, I need to host a successful party.
“Well, it’ll be over soon enough.”
I laughed lightly.
My sister used to make such a big deal out of preparations, but there’s no need to spend that much time on them. Spending hours planning, making guest lists, meticulously analyzing each person’s tastes and preferences, revising the budget over and over. She was just slow and inefficient.
I could do it much smarter.
She overcomplicates things. A party is bound to be a success as long as it’s glamorous and eye-catching. There’s no need to obsess over the details.
Let’s just get it over with quickly so I can relax afterward. I want to try on my new dress and have a tea party with my friends.
“Well, shall I show them what I’m capable of?”
High society’s approval will be entirely mine.
I picked up a quill and smoothly jotted down the ideas that came to mind.
A fountain. Exotic cuisine. Popular music. Multiple costume changes. None of these were things my sister had done meaning they were fresh and innovative.
A few days later, I gathered the staff I had assigned to handle the party in one of the rooms at the Vandering ducal estate.
They stood in line, looking tense. All of them were seasoned veterans who had worked for the ducal family for years. I’d heard they had experience managing parties. They’d even been called upon several times when my sister was still the fiancée.
In other words, they were stuck in my sister’s old-fashioned ways.
But it couldn’t be helped. There was no one else I could use.
“Listen, everyone.”
The staff who would be handling the event on-site listened attentively, their expressions nervous.
“From now on, I’ll be presenting the ideas I’ve come up with.”
With full confidence, I unveiled my prepared plans.
“First, we’ll install a large fountain in the center of the grand hall, the party venue!”
“Eh? A… a fountain, my lady?”
The man in charge looked shocked. Of course, he would be. No one else would have thought of it, right?
“That’s right. It’ll be luxurious, make a huge impact, and undoubtedly be the talk of the town.”
“But, Lady Isabella…”
Still wearing a stunned expression, he chose his words carefully.
“Installing a fountain in the grand hall. There are concerns about water management, plumbing, waterproofing the floor, and above all, the safety of the guests.”
“It’ll be fine. I’m sure it’ll turn out splendidly. The guests will love it.”
I waved my hand, cutting off his worries. Water leaks? Plumbing? There’s no need to fuss over such trivial details right now. This is going to be the main attraction of the event. Making this plan a reality is key to making waves in high society.
My sister could never have done something this bold. She was always too cautious, too fixated on precedent—so boring.
I’ve always felt that clinging too much to old customs and traditions was a mistake. You have to do something new, something that makes a big impact. That’s how you surprise and impress people.
“Next, all the food will be exclusively foreign cuisine!”
“Foreign cuisine?”
The man in charge looked even more bewildered. The other staff exchanged glances.
“Instead of the kingdom’s traditional dishes, we’ll serve food from the eastern countries and the southern islands.”
“Lady Isabella… There’s the issue of whether it will suit the guests’ tastes.”
“Especially the older nobles, they might be put off by unfamiliar spices and cooking methods. And procuring the ingredients will be difficult, not to mention the budget.”
A staff member hesitantly spoke up. It irritated me how they kept opposing my ideas, but I had to push through. For the sake of making this party a success.
“It’s not a problem.”
I scoffed.
“The theme I’m going for this time is ‘innovation.’ To emphasize that, this is absolutely necessary. The guests will understand.”
Always worrying about the little things. All you have to do is follow my instructions.
“The music will be exclusively the latest popular songs!”
“Popular songs meaning?”
“The bright, lively songs the younger crowd loves.”
“But—”
I answered casually. Truthfully, I didn’t know much about what songs were actually popular. But if they were trending, they had to be good, right? Besides, no one had ever used such music before. I would be the one to break that precedent.
“Wouldn’t classical music be more suitable for the party venue? Popular songs might not match the atmosphere.”
“That kind of thinking is outdated.”
I declared with conviction, fully confident that my opinion was the right one.
“Times are changing. Like I said earlier, we’re aiming for innovation. You’re all too stuck in the old ways. You need to think more flexibly.”
They looked like they wanted to argue, but under my sharp gaze, they fell silent. That’s right, just accept it for now.
“Oh, and I’ll be changing my outfit three times during the party.”
“Three times, my lady?”
Another staff member gasped in surprise.
“That’s right. It’ll be dazzling, and I’ll be the center of attention, won’t I? Wearing the same dress the whole time would bore everyone. To keep things fresh, I need to switch outfits periodically.”
“But if Lady Isabella leaves the venue, there will be periods when the host is absent.”
“It’s fine. Lord Roderick will be there, won’t he? He can handle things in my place.”
The man in charge looked like he wanted to say something, but he finally stayed quiet. After a moment…
“…Understood.”
At last, he bowed deeply. His expression made it clear he wasn’t convinced. As long as they prepared the venue, I didn’t care about the rest. Even if they looked dissatisfied, they had no choice but to obey the instructions of the future duchess.
This party would be completely different from the stale ones my sister used to host. With this, my reputation in high society would be renewed.
