- You’ll Regret Stealing Him from Me — My Sister Who Took My Fiancé and Celebrated Was a Fool
- Chapter 10 - Brothers and Sisters
Guided by Lady Eleonora, I entered the mansion where the family was waiting in the grand hall.
“We’ve heard about you from our brother, Lady Seraphina.”
The polite greeting came from Lord Maximilian’s younger brothers.
They all bore a resemblance to their elder brother Maximilian, though their features still retained youthfulness. Their well-toned figures carried military uniforms with dignified grace. I’d heard they followed their brother’s path as soldiers. They gave an impression of seriousness and sincerity.
“Our brother spoke highly of your knowledge and experience. We look forward to working with you.”
Their words carried genuine respect not the adoration one might show an elder sister, but the regard owed to someone of proven capability. Their earnestness was reassuring. With people like this, I felt we could build a good relationship.
“The pleasure is mine,” I replied with a smile, which they returned with refreshingly bright grins.
“So, you’re our brother’s fiancée?”
A cheerful voice rang out.
Turning, I saw bright-eyed young girls running toward me; likely between early to mid-teens. Lord Maximilian’s sisters. Their expressions held no calculation or hidden motives, just pure excitement about welcoming new family.
“You know all about parties, right? Please teach us!”
“We don’t understand anything about choosing dresses or color coordination.”
“Could you teach us party etiquette too? We’re attending our first proper social next month and we’re so nervous!”
The sisters fired questions in rapid succession, their eyes shining with genuine admiration and curiosity. A mix of excitement about entering society, nervousness, and trust in me shining through their direct gazes.
“Uh, well…?”
For a moment, I hesitated.
No one had ever looked up to me so openly before.
My actual sister Isabella had never shared this kind of relationship with me. She was always trying to take something from me.
But these girls were different.
They were sincerely relying on me. No hidden agendas, just pure requests for guidance.
“Of course, ask me anything. I’ll gladly teach you whatever I can.”
At my answer, the sisters exchanged delighted looks and launched into more questions.
“Yay! There’s so much we want to know!”
“So, there’s this small party next month we’re attending, but we have no idea what to wear…”
“I’m worried about proper etiquette for formal social events whether I’ll do everything right.”
“Could you teach us how to make conversation too? How to choose topics and keep people engaged?”
Their laughter was lively, bright, and completely carefree.
“Now, now, girls. You’re overwhelming Lady Seraphina,” Lady Eleonora gently chided. The sisters immediately apologized and stepped back slightly. Yet their eyes still brimmed with expectation, eager to talk and learn more.
“No, it’s quite alright. I’m truly happy you welcome me so warmly.”
I meant every word.
“Really? Then let’s talk more later!”
“I can’t wait!”
“I really want to be friends with you, Lady Seraphina!”
Later, I was shown to my new quarters, a simple yet comfortable room.
The large window overlooked the courtyard where well-tended gardens basked in the gentle afternoon light. The furnishings were minimal but clean and orderly. My belongings from the Altvier household would be delivered tomorrow or later.
Sitting on the bed, I took a deep breath. The soft bedding gently cradled my tense body.
“—This is my new home,” I murmured to myself.
Lady Eleonora’s motherly warmth. The brothers’ sincere, straightforward manners. The sisters’ bright, carefree smiles. A lively, warm family who respected one another.
I was glad I came here.
After resting awhile, a knock announced dinner. Led by a servant to the dining hall, I found the Liebenfeld family gathered.
At the head sat Lord Maximilian, who had just returned from work. Though his military uniform bore traces of fatigue, his expression softened when he noticed me.
“Seraphina, I’m glad you’re here.”
He rose to welcome me.
Around the large table, his brothers smiled while the sisters chattered excitedly. Lady Eleonora watched them all with gentle amusement.
“Seraphina, sit here.”
Lord Maximilian indicated the seat beside him, the place reserved for his wife. The gesture felt natural, as if he already considered me family.
“Thank you.”
As I took my seat, he studied my expression with slight concern, his sharp eyes carefully observing.
“Are you tired from the new environment? My sisters didn’t bombard you with questions, did they?”
“I’m fine,” I answered with a smile.
“Everyone has been so kind. I’m truly happy to be welcomed so warmly.”
I felt fulfilled rather than tired. If anything, my heart felt full. When I answered honestly, he nodded once in relief.
And so, accepted as one of the Liebenfelds, my new life began.
