You Should’ve Said Earlier that you’re Such a Little Flirt! - Chapter 58.2
Once it was over and Xu Qingqiong was nestled softly in her arms, she wouldn’t think about anything else.
Lin Konglu wrapped her arms around Xu Qingqiong’s waist and nuzzled her neck. “Sister,” she said softly.
Xu Qingqiong blushed instantly, her mind going blank. She cupped Lin Konglu’s face and kissed her. “What is it?”
Xu Qingqiong really loved it when she was like this; it made her heart itch. She couldn’t help but kiss her and would agree to any request.
“If you don’t want to, it’s okay. It doesn’t matter.”
“I was just joking,” Xu Qingqiong said, feeling a bit shy. She knew her own stamina was lacking. She just worried Lin Konglu was too shy to speak up, since she could be such a “closed-mouth gourd” sometimes.
Lin Konglu deliberately rubbed her nose against Xu Qingqiong’s chin.
Xu Qingqiong felt her skin itch from the rubbing and tilted her head back: “You’re not allowed.”
The moment she spoke, Lin Konglu stopped, but simply stared at her with dark, bright eyes that carried a faint, lingering sense of grievance.
“…” Xu Qingqiong was speechless. She couldn’t help but huff, whispering a complaint, “…Using that trick again. I’m not falling for it.”
But a few seconds later, Xu Qingqiong couldn’t resist cupping her face and kissing the tip of her nose. Through gritted teeth, she asked, “Are you a puppy? How are you so good at acting spoiled, hmm?”
Lin Konglu didn’t speak; she just watched her quietly, as if she were completely at Xu Qingqiong’s mercy.
Xu Qingqiong’s heart itched. Holding Lin Konglu’s face, she leaned in to gently bite her lip. Lin Konglu didn’t dodge, submissively allowing the bite. In a daze, Xu Qingqiong actively sat on her lap and wrapped her arms around her neck, not realizing what she was doing.
It wasn’t until she saw the glimmer of a smile in Lin Konglu’s eyes that she suddenly realized she had been played again.
Lin Konglu loved Xu Qingqiong’s kisses, her lips, and her fingers. But she loved it even more when Xu Qingqiong’s eyes were rimmed with red, lost in a daze, clutching her neck and whispering her name. She also loved how Xu Qingqiong would stubbornly claim she was fine, only to act spoiled and beg for mercy when she realized Lin Konglu was getting serious.
Lin Konglu: “Sister…”
Xu Qingqiong looked at her with misty, watery eyes.
“I love you.”
Extra 2
Time flew by. In the blink of an eye, Ice Cream transformed from a palm-sized kitten into a “pig-cat” weighing a full 3.5kg.
Xu Qingqiong and Ice Cream got along famously. This isn’t to say Lin Konglu and Ice Cream didn’t get along, but it was like that classic childhood question: Who do you like more, Mommy or Daddy?
For Ice Cream, the choice was clear. It would choose Xu Qingqiong without hesitation. Xu Qingqiong was the indulgent parent; one meow earned a can of wet food, and if the cat acted extra cute, her heart would melt, and a variety of snacks would be laid out for the cat to choose from.
Xu Qingqiong was largely responsible for Ice Cream turning into a little pig in just eight months.
Lin Konglu, however, did not spoil the cat. She provided fixed amounts of food and snacks at set times. Once they were gone, they were gone. No amount of acting cute would move her. Whenever Xu Qingqiong went on a business trip, Ice Cream would invariably lose a bit of weight by the time she returned.
Of course, it wasn’t that Lin Konglu didn’t like the cat. It was just… Ice Cream was getting a bit too fat! If she kept feeding it, its health would suffer. Even if chubby cats are cute, one of the two humans had to remain rational.
The only thing that slightly annoyed her about Ice Cream was—
Before, Xu Qingqiong would call her “baby,” “darling,” or “sweetheart.” Now, when playing with Ice Cream, she used those same names. Since Ice Cream was an extremely smart cat, it learned after a few times that those words meant him. Names that used to belong only to Lin Konglu now had to be shared with a cat.
Naturally, Lin Konglu wasn’t so petty as to hold a grudge against a cat… she was just a little bit unhappy (supposedly).
Xu Qingqiong hated summer. The heat made her lose her appetite, and she always lost a few pounds. Since she was already naturally lean, she looked quite frail during the summer months. Consequently, Lin Konglu paid close attention, constantly finding new ways to cook delicious things for her.
But when she had to travel for work, there was nothing she could do. Without constant supervision, Xu Qingqiong would skip meals and lose weight, which broke Lin Konglu’s heart.
Lin Konglu held her by the waist, measuring how much thinner she had become over the last two weeks. This business trip had been long—two full weeks. They hadn’t seen each other, and though they video-chatted every day, there were no hugs or kisses. They missed each other terribly.
Xu Qingqiong rested her head in the crook of Lin Konglu’s neck, looking at her profile. She couldn’t help but blow on her eyelashes, watching her close her eyes as a reflex.
“Baby, you’re so cute.”
After saying this, she snuggled deeper into the embrace. Lin Konglu always felt that Xu Qingqiong was more of a cat than Ice Cream—sensitive to both heat and cold. Even with the air conditioning set low, she insisted on sticking close to Lin Konglu at night for warmth.
Xu Qingqiong kissed the corner of her mouth, while her hand slipped into Lin Konglu’s pajamas, restlessly tracing the line of her waist.
“My treasure, my sweetheart.”
Cool fingers touched skin, creating ripples of sensation. Lin Konglu tightened her hold, burying her face in Xu Qingqiong’s neck. Her breathing quickened, but she didn’t pull away; she submissively let her touch.
When her fingers hit a certain spot, Lin Konglu shuddered and turned her head urgently to find Xu Qingqiong’s lips. They kissed passionately.
“Darling…”
Suddenly, Ice Cream—who had been sleeping on the living room sofa—perked up his ears. He gracefully sauntered into the bedroom, jumped onto the bed, and stood right beside them. He looked down from his high vantage point, tilting his head in confusion.
He seemed to be asking: Mommy-chan, did you call me?
Xu Qingqiong: “…” Lin Konglu: “…”
The moment was incredibly awkward. Lin Konglu slowly turned to look at Xu Qingqiong with accusing eyes: You scumbag, look at what you’ve done.
Xu Qingqiong said innocently: “I only love you; the one outside is just for fun.”
Lin Konglu: “…”
Lin Konglu pinned both of Xu Qingqiong’s wrists above her head with one hand and placed the other “threateningly” on her waist: “So, who is your baby?”
“You, of course.” Xu Qingqiong didn’t dare provoke her now. She tilted her head back and gave her a light kiss, her tone pleading for mercy.
Lin Konglu glanced at Ice Cream, as if to say: And what about this one?
“…” Xu Qingqiong sighed. “The child is grown; it’s time he was independent.”
She shifted the topic: “The timing is right anyway. Let’s take him to be neutered tomorrow.”
Ice Cream: “?”
Extra 3
Barfu had recently fallen in love. She had been with her girlfriend for less than three months.
Lin Konglu watched as she celebrated their first meeting anniversary, first hand-holding anniversary, first kiss anniversary, official relationship anniversary, 100-day anniversary, 88-day anniversary… It seemed like they had an anniversary every single day.
Then she realized that she and Xu Qingqiong only had their marriage registration anniversary and their wedding anniversary. More importantly, those two “special” days didn’t have particularly beautiful memories attached to them, and they rarely celebrated them.
Xu Qingqiong didn’t mind. To her, those dates were just numbers. Every day they spent together now was happy; even holding hands at the supermarket felt like a celebration. Sometimes Xu Qingqiong would even bring out their old “contract” and play role-playing games.
For example: The overbearing CEO and the fragile, bankrupt little flower.
Usually, they would break character halfway through. “Boss Lin’s” acting was too poor. She looked the part in the beginning with her dress shirt and trousers, but as soon as the “forced” part of the script started, the “Little Flower” would kiss her, and her eyes would turn red. She looked less like the bully and more like the one being bullied. It made Xu Qingqiong look like a “Tyrant Flower” instead of a “Little Flower.”
Still, Xu Qingqiong enjoyed it immensely.
Distractions aside, once Lin Konglu realized this, she decided to do something. If there were no anniversaries, she would create one. She was a woman of action and decided immediately to propose again.
Even though… they had already been married for two years.
This wasn’t a sudden whim; the thought had been in the back of her mind for a long time. Back then, Xu Qingqiong had given her a ring, but she hadn’t given one back. She had long ago prepared a ring in secret, but she hadn’t found the right moment to give it. She could have just put it on Xu Qingqiong’s finger on any ordinary day—Xu Qingqiong wouldn’t have refused—but she felt it wasn’t solemn enough.
She wanted to give Xu Qingqiong the very best.
The final push to re-propose didn’t actually come from Bafu’s anniversaries, but from a trip last month. They had gone to an island and had a great time. They were planning to walk on the beach, but realized they had forgotten something. Lin Konglu went back to the hotel to get it, and when she returned, she saw a woman standing next to Xu Qingqiong, asking for her contact information.
Lin Konglu: “?”
Xu Qingqiong had been very direct, saying she had a partner—a legally protected one. But the woman didn’t believe her because she had observed Xu Qingqiong earlier: there was no ring on her hand and no tan line or mark of a long-term ring. That was why she felt bold enough to approach.
When Lin Konglu returned, the obvious intimacy between them finally made the woman back off reluctantly.
It was just a small episode. Lin Konglu acted calm at the time, but internally, she wanted to pull out their marriage certificate right then and there. Xu Qingqiong has a wife, okay!
She made her decision quickly but soon realized a problem. Because they were inseparable—working together and eating every meal together—it was difficult to plan a surprise proposal without Xu Qingqiong knowing.
However, the problem was solved when Xu Qingqiong suddenly became very busy and started working overtime. Lin Konglu was a bit confused since Xu Qingqiong’s work was usually very regular, but it gave her the time she needed to plan.
Two weeks later, it was their wedding anniversary. Since they never usually celebrated, Lin Konglu figured Xu Qingqiong wouldn’t suspect a thing.
On the day, Lin Konglu pretended nothing was happening and went to work as usual. After eating lunch with Xu Qingqiong, she went home with Bafu to decorate the place, then returned to the office to wait for the evening surprise.
Everything went smoothly. Almost too smoothly.
Usually, Xu Qingqiong would message her during breaks to ask what she was doing or if she missed her, or they would video-chat. Lin Konglu had even prepared excuses for such situations. But there was nothing. Xu Qingqiong didn’t message her, didn’t ask if she missed her, and didn’t call. When Lin Konglu took the initiative to message her, Xu Qingqiong simply replied: “Aren’t you busy? I don’t want to disturb you.”
Lin Konglu: “…” Wait, this isn’t how it usually goes!
She felt a slight sense of unease. Finally, in the afternoon, she pretended to work late and waited for Xu Qingqiong to pick her up.
At 5:00 PM, Xu Qingqiong arrived on time. At 5:30 PM, they arrived home hand-in-hand.
The moment the door opened, they were met with decorations and a rain of flower petals. Xu Qingqiong cupped her face and gave a flat, stiff “Wow,” acting surprised while her eyes remained perfectly calm.
Lin Konglu froze. The scene was a bit comical. Seeing that Lin Konglu wasn’t moving, Xu Qingqiong held out her hand and asked instinctively: “Where’s the ring?”
Lin Konglu: “…”
Her intuition had been right. She looked at Xu Qingqiong slowly.
Xu Qingqiong felt a bit guilty. She didn’t mean to find out beforehand. But they never guarded their phones from each other. It was a coincidence: her phone had died, so she used Lin Konglu’s. The ring was one Lin Konglu had ordered two years ago, but since they had adopted Ice Cream, she wanted to add a cat element to the design. The designer had sent a new proposal asking if she needed adjustments.
And just like that, Xu Qingqiong accidentally saw the messages. She didn’t want to know, but Lin Konglu was too easy to read—especially with her recent hints about travel.
While Lin Konglu was still dazed, Xu Qingqiong pulled out a ring she had prepared. Lin Konglu loved her original wedding ring and almost never took it off, leaving a faint white mark on her finger. But that ring had been bought in a rush. Xu Qingqiong had wanted to get her a better one but hadn’t found the right time.
Now, the opportunity had presented itself.
Xu Qingqiong looked at her with a smile and said solemnly: “So, would you be willing to…”
Before she could finish, Lin Konglu nodded, holding back tears: “Of course, I’m willing.”
Xu Qingqiong carefully placed the ring on her finger and kissed it. The cool metal felt vivid, sending a tingling sensation straight to Lin Konglu’s heart. If happiness could be measured, it would be this moment.
That day, in the venue Lin Konglu decorated, at the time she chose, Lin Konglu was the one who received a new ring.
Lin Konglu: I’m very happy, but… I didn’t get to give my ring away yet.
