You Should’ve Said Earlier that you’re Such a Little Flirt! - Chapter 24
Because the court hearing lasted a very long time, it was already evening by the time it ended.
The sun was setting, casting a faint, dusky glow. A sliver of twilight filtered in, landing right on Lin Konglu’s eyelashes, rendering them into a brilliant, fuzzy golden fringe.
Xu Qingqiong shifted her gaze away. After a few seconds of silence, she shook her head and gave an ambiguous answer: “I don’t know.”
This was originally a matter between the two of them; she couldn’t decide it alone. She had actually wanted to ask Lin Konglu, but Lin Konglu wasn’t looking at her.
Forget it, she thought, we’ll discuss it when we get home.
As for that problem—even though her own issues were resolved and Ye Jianguo was now in prison with a life sentence (meaning he wouldn’t be out for at least a decade even with a reduction)—Lin Konglu’s problem remained. Since she had signed that agreement, she would naturally honor it.
However, she was too slow to realize that her answer sounded far too vague.
To anyone else, it sounded like a cold, heartless response—a signal that she didn’t want to continue with the wedding.
The atmosphere came to a subtle, jarring halt.
Lin Konglu’s heart skipped a beat. She squeezed her knuckles, and the emotion in her eyes instantly turned cold.
Xu Qingqiong glanced at her again, only to find Lin Konglu staring straight ahead, still refusing to meet her eyes.
Bafou had originally wanted to strike up a conversation to break the heavy silence, but it only made things more stifling. Seeing Lin Konglu’s expression through the rearview mirror, she blinked, gave two awkward laughs, and fell silent.
Xu Qingqiong found a private restaurant with a quiet atmosphere and excellent food.
Lawyer Chen and Wen Lanjing were both there. Since Barfu had to drive later, she didn’t drink at first.
But Lawyer Chen had been at her busiest recently—preparing the lawsuit and organizing legal codes was a massive mental drain. Finally able to relax, she asked if they should order a bottle of wine.
Holding the wine list, the owner enthusiastically introduced them: “We have two red wines that are quite good. I picked them up at a wine exhibition a while back.”
“This sweet red is on the sweeter side with a relatively high alcohol content. It has a bit of a kick, but the mouthfeel is rich and full—perfect for a relaxing glass.”
“This dry red is tart and astringent at first with a sweet aftertaste, but the downside is that it’s a bit too bold; not everyone likes it.”
Lin Konglu glanced at it. “The first one.”
Xu Qingqiong thought she didn’t want to drink, so she was surprised when Lin Konglu took the initiative to choose.
Lawyer Chen, celebrating the conclusion of the case, poured herself a glass. Wen Lanjing felt as if a heavy burden had been lifted; she was perhaps the happiest about Ye Jianguo going to prison. Thinking about her upcoming divorce and the significant assets she would receive, she couldn’t help but pick up a glass as well.
Lin Konglu glanced at the glass in front of her but said nothing.
Halfway through, Xu Qingqiong went to the restroom. When she returned, she found that the group was already tipsy.
Lin Konglu, who hadn’t been drinking earlier, had now had the most. The two large glasses in front of her were empty.
Though her cheeks were flushed, Lin Konglu sat with her back straight and her posture poised; her eyes looked clear.
Thinking she wasn’t drunk, Xu Qingqiong called her name. Lin Konglu slowly turned her head, then suddenly reached out to pull her into a gentle, restrained embrace. “Qingqiong…”
Xu Qingqiong froze. She hadn’t expected her to be drunk; she had only ever seen her slightly tipsy.
Fortunately, Xu Qingqiong hadn’t touched a drop. Since it was late, she let Barfu go home first and drove Lin Konglu back herself.
She had a license but rarely drove, so her skills were rusty. The streetlights flickered by, and the traffic was dense. What should have been a twenty-minute drive took her over forty. She was focused and tense the entire way.
After getting into the car, Lin Konglu sat in the passenger seat with her eyes closed, leaning quietly back. It was hard to tell if she was suffering from the alcohol or just asleep.
Finally reaching home, Xu Qingqiong parked the car, unbuckled her seatbelt, and poked Lin Konglu’s shoulder. “We’re home.”
No reaction.
Xu Qingqiong had no choice but to lean in closer.
At that moment, Lin Konglu opened her eyes. Their gazes met. There was a faint shimmer in her light-colored pupils, accompanied by a hazy, drunken sense of grievance.
Xu Qingqiong frowned, thinking she had misread the expression.
“Get out first.” Seeing that Lin Konglu was awake, she moved to open the car door.
Suddenly, Lin Konglu grabbed her wrist.
Her movement blocked, Xu Qingqiong turned back in confusion.
The garage was dim, and the interior of the car was cramped. They were very close. Suddenly, Lin Konglu cupped her face and kissed her.
They had kissed many times before, but those were always kisses driven by desire.
Humans are strange creatures; physical desire and emotion can be separate. A kiss is a catalyst; the atmosphere heats up, and even without emotion, the body softens. Those previous kisses had been purposeful.
But what about now?
Xu Qingqiong never expected Lin Konglu to kiss her so suddenly, especially in this setting. The narrow, dark space heightened desire; it felt as if their heartbeats were connected, vibrating at the same frequency.
Soft lips met. The scent of wine was transmitted through their breath. Lin Konglu pressed against her shoulder, cradling her cheeks. Her breathing was lingering as she repeatedly bit at her lips and tongue, as if trying to consume her.
Xu Qingqiong hissed in pain and tried to push her away.
Instead, Lin Konglu pinched the back of her neck, forcing her to look up, and lightly bit her nose, chin, and cheeks.
“Biting” wasn’t quite the right word; her warm, wet tongue lingered on the skin. It was more like a kiss—a kiss devoid of calculating desire.
“Qingqiong… Qingqiong…”
For a moment, Xu Qingqiong had the illusion of an enthusiastic puppy pouncing on her to lick her. Unable to dodge, she simply gave up resisting, feeling a bit lost and bewildered: Is this what Lin Konglu is like when she’s drunk?
Soon, Lin Konglu stopped moving. She closed her eyes and rested her forehead against Xu Qingqiong’s chest. Her eyelashes trembled with a misty dampness, and her nose rubbed affectionately against Xu Qingqiong’s chin.
Xu Qingqiong froze. Thinking she wanted to continue, she reached out to stop her and pushed her back, getting out of the car. “You’re drunk. Let’s go upstairs first.”
She wasn’t sure if the car windows had privacy film; it felt unsafe. If they were going to continue, it was better to do it inside.
To Lin Konglu, however, this was a clear rejection. Xu Qingqiong’s earlier answer at the restaurant had already broken her heart.
After getting out of the car, she shook off Xu Qingqiong’s hand when she tried to help her, walking on her own. But the moment Xu Qingqiong actually stopped paying attention, she followed closely behind, reaching out to grab her hand again.
Xu Qingqiong was utterly helpless.
How does Lin Konglu act like this when she’s drunk? she wondered.
Once they finally made it inside, Lin Konglu went to the bathroom to shower.
Because she was drunk, Xu Qingqiong was worried about an accident. Lin Konglu had been taking care of her lately, and she knew it; now was the time to return the favor.
She waited outside the bathroom door, listening closely.
Sure enough, something happened.
Hearing a gasp, Xu Qingqiong immediately pushed the door open.
Lin Konglu was sitting in the bathtub. Her shirt was soaked, clinging to her body and revealing her elegant curves. She was staring straight at her.
Xu Qingqiong quickly looked away. Too lazy to find her pajamas, she had her take off the wet clothes, wrapped her in a bathrobe, and then went to shower herself.
When she came out, she was met with Lin Konglu’s direct, unblinking stare.
Startled, Xu Qingqiong took a step back, unsure of her intentions.
Lin Konglu stepped forward. The belt of her bathrobe was undone. She took Xu Qingqiong’s hand and placed it on her chest; the bare, smooth skin felt slick and warm.
Xu Qingqiong hadn’t expected her to be so strange while drunk. Her palm felt as if it had been scorched by a spark, and she quickly pulled away.
“Qingqiong…” Lin Konglu stepped closer and called her name again, reaching out to touch her face.
Lin Konglu’s fingers were thin and long, her nails trimmed neatly—perfectly beautiful hands. Such hands flicking and teasing her cheek sent ripples through Xu Qingqiong.
Disturbed and with her own desire finally sparked, Xu Qingqiong didn’t pull away this time. Instead, she unceremoniously grabbed Lin Konglu’s wrist.
Lin Konglu likely didn’t expect the sudden initiative; she was pulled so hard she nearly stumbled.
Xu Qingqiong had almost never been the proactive one in this regard; she was usually hesitant or yielding. This time, she rarely took the lead, becoming forceful.
Lin Konglu wasn’t sober; her actions were purely instinctive. She was pushed backward until she fell onto the bed. The mattress dipped sharply under the weight of the two of them.
The lighting in the room was hazy and intimate.
Xu Qingqiong grabbed her hands, fingers interlocking, and pinned them to the headboard.
The atmosphere heated up, turning thick and heavy. The bedside lamp cast a quiet, dim yellow glow. For a while, the only sounds in the quiet room were those of kissing and skin on skin.
After some time, Xu Qingqiong propped herself up with one hand on Lin Konglu’s chest, while the other reached into the bedside drawer. She clumsily fumbled for a package and tried to tear it open with one hand.
Perhaps due to lack of experience or the fact that she only used one hand, the item was harder to open than she imagined. After struggling for about five minutes, she finally got it.
Lin Konglu wrapped her arms around Xu Qingqiong’s neck, looking at her with hazy eyes.
Xu Qingqiong took Lin Konglu’s hand, kissing and wetting her fingertips before smoothly sliding the protection onto her finger.
Lin Konglu’s wrist was held firm; she stared blankly, momentarily losing all sensation.
Seeing that she still wasn’t moving, Xu Qingqiong froze as well. She lacked experience; previously, they had always done this while sober.
She remembered a science video she had scrolled past once, saying that “drunk sex” is mostly an excuse—that most people actually lose their drive when truly drunk.
But Lin Konglu clearly had a drive—otherwise, why did she kiss her so passionately in the car?
Suddenly, another possibility occurred to her. She asked with genuine confusion: “Do you really lose the ability to do it when you’re drunk?”
Is being the ‘Top’ this hard? Does it require that much technique?
Xu Qingqiong propped herself up on her arms, looking down at her. She tentatively touched her face and gave her a gentle kiss. Seeing that there was still no reaction, she frowned and questioned: “Are you really… unable to?”
Lin Konglu: “…”
“Fine.” A few seconds later, Xu Qingqiong gave up. She let go and prepared to change clothes.
Suddenly, Lin Konglu grabbed her hand, refusing to let her leave.
Xu Qingqiong, exasperated by the drunk woman’s behavior, looked back.
Lin Konglu hugged her from behind, resting her chin on her shoulder. The gesture felt remarkably like acting spoiled.
For such a cold person to act this way was like a jump-cut in a movie; it was startling. But because of what happened in the car, she forced herself to accept it and held her hand.
Suddenly, Lin Konglu struck. She pinned one of Xu Qingqiong’s wrists above her head, fingers interlocking so she couldn’t struggle. Her other hand measured her way down, inch by inch, until she gripped Xu Qingqiong’s slender ankle.
Xu Qingqiong’s gasp was swallowed by a kiss.
…
…
Soon, Xu Qingqiong’s eyes grew misty, the corners flushed with an intimate red.
Strangely, Lin Konglu hated seeing her cry; it usually made her heart ache. But in this moment, seeing her let out muffled sobs because of her own actions was exhilarating.
Lin Konglu’s heart raced. Alcohol and love swirled in her mind. Her already hazy logic was a complete mess, causing her to lose her self-control.
She leaned down, her touch grazing the skin and sending shivers through Xu Qingqiong. Her nose pressed against the soft flesh of the back of her neck, nipping lightly with her teeth.
It wasn’t until Xu Qingqiong, her eyelashes wet and gaze blurry as she lay against the pillow, her white back covered in fresh red marks, spoke with a trembling voice that Lin Konglu snapped out of it.
“Why are you crying too?”
Lin Konglu was suddenly jolted awake.
