You Are the Star I Cannot Touch - Chapter 49
Chapter 49: Loved For Ten Years
Aunt Li knocked on the door, then came in and put down the food. “Miss Mu, can you eat by yourself?” She glanced at Mu Yan’s neck and knew why the Young Miss had given such instructions. This girl had been tormented so much she couldn’t get out of bed.
“I…” Mu Yan’s face was flushed with embarrassment. Her arms were also sore and uncomfortable.
“I’ll feed you,” Aunt Li helped her with the food.
“This tastes really good. Why haven’t I tasted this flavor while living here recently?”
“This was personally prepared by our Young Miss. The last time you were injured, she also personally made the food. The Young Miss is truly good to you.”
“What? She made it?” She didn’t remember her knowing how to cook.
“Yes. The Young Miss has never lifted a finger in the kitchen. The necklace on your neck was also personally designed and made for you by the Young Miss. It is unique.”
“What?” Mu Yan touched the necklace around her neck. Gong Yutong gave it to her in high school. This kind of necklace couldn’t be made in just a day or two. Could it be that she liked her back in junior high? That kiss… She suddenly understood everything, ignoring the condition of her body, she had to go and ask for clarification, so she ran out.
Aunt Li: “……”
Mu Yan sprinted all the way into Gong Yutong’s office. “You…” She was running out of breath.
“Mu Xiaoyan,” Gong Yutong was furious, wanting to kill her. Why was she running over without even putting on shoes?
“I…”
“Shut up,” Gong Yutong stood up, found a coat, wrapped her in it, then picked her up, left the Gong Group, returned to the villa, placed her on the bed, found medicine, and bandaged her foot.
Aunt Li couldn’t quite understand what was happening. She put down the food and left, not wanting to disturb them.
Gong Yutong finished bandaging her foot and locked the door.
“Eat,” she fed her, not very gently.
Mu Yan glanced at her from time to time. This person was angry again. How should she appease her? The door was locked. Would she be tormented?
Gong Yutong saw she was full and looked at her. “Speak?”
“I… this necklace, you designed and made it yourself?” She looked at her fearfully, but still asked the question.
“Mhm.”
“When did you fall for me? Junior high?”
“Mhm.”
She actually admitted it.
“The kiss on New Year’s Eve, that’s when you confirmed your feelings?”
“Mhm.”
“When did you start paying attention to me?”
“When you first arrived.”
“Then… when did you become interested? When did you first want to be good to me?”
“When Xiang Yu bullied you.”
She couldn’t ask any more questions. She had many, but now… she liked her, and she had liked her for ten years.
“Why wouldn’t you be with me? Why did you reject me?”
“My family would kill you.”
She looked at her, tears streaming down her face. She understood. She understood everything. She knew why Gong Yutong was unwilling, but she was stubborn. She still wanted to hear her say she loved her. “Gong Yutong, do you love me?” she asked again.
“Love,” she looked at her, reached out and wiped her tears. “Loved for ten years.”
It was enough. It was truly enough. This was all the answer she needed.
Every time she asked before, she was either rejected or met with silence. Today, she asked, and she answered. Ten years. All she ever wanted was this one word. Now that she had it, she was completely satisfied.
She hugged her. “Yutong, I… my heart aches for you.”
What did she strive for for ten years? Only to be with her. She pushed her away, rejected her, yet was good to her. She was simply afraid of implicating her, afraid she couldn’t protect her. That’s why she refused, why she never declared her feelings, yet loved and guarded her in a different way, until today, when she had the ability to protect her, she was finally willing to slowly reveal her true feelings.
“I’m fine,” she said.
“How can you be fine? This decade, my days and nights of torment, how could they not also be your torment? I suffered, but what about you? Weren’t you in greater difficulty? You couldn’t say it, but I can. Gong Yutong, who am I, Mu Yan, to be so blessed as to meet you, to have you love me like this? So, can we be together?” She looked at her. The coldness was gone, replaced only by tenderness in her eyes.
“We can,” she answered.
She kissed her, then asked again, “Then, can we be girlfriends?”
“We can.”
“Then…” She covered Gong Yutong’s lips with hers, kissing her carefully, yet full of affection, then let go.
Gong Yutong cupped her face. “Mu Yan, I love you. Everything you want in your heart, all your wishes can come true. I can be your girlfriend. I can make it public. I can be with you. I can love only you for a lifetime, favor only you, protect only you. We can get married. We can be together forever. Whatever your wish, whatever you want, I can give it to you. My body, my heart, everything I have, is yours. I belong only to you.”
“Mhm,” she paid no mind to her tears and kissed her again.
Gong Yutong reached out and wiped her tears. “Stop crying. Get some good rest, or your eyes will swell more. You cried even harder last night. You can’t cry anymore.”
“Well… it’s all because of you,” she accused softly.
“I’ll settle the score with you later for what you did earlier.”
Mu Yan: “…Then… you promised me everything, right?”
“Mhm.”
“Then, can I be the one on top from now on?”
“No discussion,” Gong Yutong stood up. “Don’t even think about it for a lifetime. You can only be on the bottom for me. It’s best not to have such thoughts, or you might not be able to get out of bed easily.” She left.
Mu Yan: “…” She suddenly collapsed onto the bed, covering her face. “Mhm… She loves me! That’s great! I’m not dreaming!” She suddenly sat up and called Chi Yue. She had to tell Chi Yue; this was the greatest news.
Chi Yue answered. “What is it?”
“Yue’er,” Mu Yan’s voice was genuinely delighted and laced with a hint of being spoiled. “Yue’er, my baby said she loves me!”
Chi Yue jumped off the bed. “What did you say?”
“I said Gong Yutong said she loves me! She’s my girlfriend now!”
“What? She admitted it?”
“What do you mean? You knew she loved me too?”
“I’ll send you the photos,” Chi Yue sent the photos to Mu Yan. “Look at the last one yourself.”
Mu Yan opened them and saw the last photo, her eyes filled with tenderness. “Ah… Yue’er, why didn’t you give it to me earlier?”
“I was afraid that if I gave it to you, she wouldn’t admit it… it wouldn’t be good for you.”
“If you had given it to me earlier, I wouldn’t have suffered so much. My baby almost tormented me to death. I threatened to die to test her, and now I’m still lying in bed. If I had known earlier, I wouldn’t have used death as leverage. She educated me quite thoroughly.”
Chi Yue: “…Then you’re quite miserable.”
Mu Yan: “…Sigh… but I’m so happy! Finally, I’m with her! Yue’er, I’m so happy! Yue’er, she’s amazing!”
Chi Yue: “…Don’t you think you shouldn’t be telling me that last part?”
Mu Yan: “You’re right, but it’s really great, Yue’er.”
“Stop fooling around,” Chi Yue said, but not to Mu Yan, but to Tang Xiaowan. Tang Xiaowan didn’t know who she was talking to, only that her tone was very tender, which made her very angry.
“I wasn’t.”
“Be good. As long as you’re together, you can relax. Get some good rest.”
“Mhm, bye.” Mu Yan hung up the phone, immersed in joy.
“You…” Chi Yue’s next words were stuck in her throat.
“Who were you talking to? And you said ‘be good’?” Tang Xiaowan got angrier the more she thought about it, and her hand showed no mercy.
Chi Yue couldn’t answer her anymore and eventually completely passed out.
