Chapter 28: Short Legs

Gong Yutong spun her pen. Mu Yan blinked, watching Gong Yutong. What is she thinking about? She’s so lost in thought. She hadn’t even noticed Mu Yan’s arrival. She could finally go back to work and see her again.

“How are your injuries?”

“Little Mu Yan, could you move further away? Your presence is making my head ache.”

“You already knew I was here, so why didn’t you acknowledge me?”

“I’m not blind. If you don’t have anything to do, please leave.” She was thinking about serious business.

“You… your attitude changed so quickly! You were so gentle to me a few days ago, and now you’re acting aloof again! Gong Yutong, what exactly do you mean?”

“If you don’t leave, you can prepare to work through the night.”

“I…” Mu Yan disappeared quickly. Gong Yutong only had one secretary, and she had a huge pile of work. How could she have forgotten about that?

Mu Yan didn’t bother Gong Yutong at noon. Because she was busy, she ate quickly and went back to work. She was still busy until after work. By ten o’clock, Mu Yan was basically done. The CEO’s office was long empty. She walked out. It was raining heavily.

“Mu Yan Yan, learning to appreciate the rain now?” Gong Yutong asked, leaning lazily against the Gong Group’s main entrance.

Mu Yan was startled. “You… you… Startling people late at night can be fatal! How long have you been here?” Why didn’t she see her when she came out?

“What? Want to admire this downpour? Or maybe compose a poem?”

“I’m not crazy. I’m cold and hungry.”

Gong Yutong waited for Mu Yan for ten seconds, then spoke. “If you’re not leaving, are you waiting for me to kick you into the car?”

“Gong Yutong, can’t you be more gentle with women?”

“Gentle? You?” She looked her up and down, then got into the car.

Gong Yutong looked at her. “Slut, Slut CEO, bastard. Little Mu Yan, do you still want to get a high salary next month?”

Mu Yan instantly deflated. She wasn’t terribly short of money, but it was hard-earned. How could she let it be deducted? “You… you can’t separate personal and public matters.”

“If I couldn’t separate personal and public matters, you wouldn’t even be able to enter the Gong Group’s doors, let alone be my secretary. You can threaten my Gong Group employees.”

“I got in on my own merits.”

“Good to know.”

“I’m hungry. Is there anything to eat around here?”

“No.” Gong Yutong parked the car. “We’ll go back and make instant noodles.”

Mu Yan was discouraged. Gong Yutong’s magnificent house, and there’s no food? Then why are there instant noodles? With this question in mind, Mu Yan followed Gong Yutong inside, only to see food already laid out on the coffee table.

“You’re still human,” Mu Yan said, digging into the food without hesitation.

Gong Yutong: “…” She went upstairs to shower. When she came back down, Mu Yan was already full and leaning contentedly on the sofa.

“Why did you lie to me just now?” Mu Yan looked at her. She was wearing a red slip dress. It was so… She wanted to pounce, but unfortunately, she hadn’t showered. Her wearing red was like the end of the world.

“That was food for a dog.”

Mu Yan paused for three seconds, then suddenly realized. “Gong Yutong, I only called you ‘Old Dog Gong.’ Do you really hold a grudge?”

“Now that you’re full, you can leave.” She went upstairs.

Leave? She wishes! Now that she was here, how could she leave? She quickly rushed upstairs, ran to Gong Yutong’s bedroom, and headed straight to the bathroom to shower.

Gong Yutong rubbed her temples, sitting on the sofa. Showering without bringing clothes? How is she going to come out? Well, this person doesn’t seem to know how to be shy.

After Mu Yan finished showering, she looked at the bathroom and had a mischievous idea. She quietly opened the door, poking her head out. “Um, Yutong, could you hand me a nightgown?” She looked utterly harmless.

Gong Yutong got up, randomly grabbed one of her nightgowns, and handed it to her. Then, Mu Yan dragged her into the bathroom, pressing her against the wall. The water instantly soaked Gong Yutong’s nightgown.

“You’re all wet. How about I help you take it off?” Mu Yan talked the talk, but her hands were busy. Since it was a slip dress, she took it off.

She stared at Gong Yutong’s body.

Thud! Mu Yan fainted.

Gong Yutong looked at Mu Yan lying on the bathroom floor, her mouth twitching. Then she turned off the shower, wiped her dry, and tossed her onto the bed. She put on her own nightgown and looked at her.

“So spineless. First time I’ve seen someone faint,” she looked at her.

Should she put a nightgown on her? If Mu Yan woke up, she’d be the one in trouble. If she didn’t put clothes on… If she put clothes on, Mu Yan would definitely wake up. She thought about it and decided not to dress her. This was actually quite nice. She’d sleep comfortably.

Mu Yan woke up and remembered how she fainted after looking at her last night. She wanted to slit her own throat! Such a perfect opportunity, and she fainted! She really regretted it! “You’re too cruel!” She was stuck. She couldn’t get up, but she couldn’t stay in bed either. Why wouldn’t Gong Yutong leave? Last time at the Gong Group, she was acting abnormally. But normal her really couldn’t do this kind of thing. If she didn’t get up, she’d be late. Gong Yutong wasn’t worried about being late, but she was anxious. Why won’t she leave?

Mu Yan hardened her heart. She’s already seen everything, what’s there to be afraid of? So, she got out of bed and rushed into the bathroom.

Gong Yutong finished the last bite of her bun and went downstairs.

About ten minutes later, Mu Yan’s curses came from upstairs. “Gong Yutong, you bastard!”

Gong Yutong sat on the sofa, glancing at her phone. 7:20 AM, and work started at 9 AM.

Mu Yan came downstairs fuming. “Why did you lie to me?”

“Have you ever seen a smart person get tricked?”

“Are you calling me stupid?”

“Short legs, sit down and eat. We’re not going to the company yet. I’m taking you somewhere else.”

“Short legs? How are my legs short?”

“Shorter than mine.”

“I…” She couldn’t refute it. She ate. “Where are we going?”

“As a secretary, don’t inquire about your CEO’s whereabouts too much, or you might have your salary deducted.”
