- Why Does The "Fishing Queen" Always Flirt With Me?
- Chapter 31 - My Yue is Truly a Feast for the Eyes...
Filming was in full swing. The Eldest Princess was like the sun and the moon, attracting countless followers—and one “toxic solo fan.”
This character believed that anyone approaching the Princess with ill intent should be eliminated. While Yun Chuxian didn’t have any actual romance with this character, the role was written as someone who viewed themselves as her dog.
If Xia Liang was a loyal stray, this other character was a pampered, scheming poodle. Xia Liang saw himself as a servant; the other saw himself as a pet. They were treated very differently, and the “pet” was cold to Xia Liang, seeing him as a rival for their Master’s affection. In front of the Princess, he acted weak and pitiful, but outside, he was a ruthless killer. He even liked to nuzzle his head against the Princess’s hand.
Today’s scene featured this dynamic. Tang Wangyue, now officially an A-unit screenwriter, watched from the sidelines. The moment she’d read the script, a seed of jealousy had begun to sprout.
Yun Chuxian was supposed to be my Master alone. How can she be someone else’s?
She tried to comfort herself—it was just acting. But the thought of that “pet” character coming on stage still made her heart feel heavy. Chuxian was right; as a first-time actor, it was easy to blur the lines between fiction and reality.
But it wasn’t the world she couldn’t leave behind—it was the feelings. Were they her feelings for Chuxian, or Xia Liang’s for the Princess?
At first, she couldn’t tell. But after their kiss, she knew. Given Xia Liang’s devotion, he wouldn’t even harbor a thought of desecrating the Princess. But Wangyue? She wanted to do things with Chuxian that only the two of them could do.
Wangyue reached for her sun mask and suddenly decided to take it off. She kept her cap on, but with her mask gone, her beauty was fully exposed to the golden light, drawing frequent glances from the crew.
“No wonder people say Screenwriter Tang is as beautiful as an actor. Even without a drop of makeup, most people can’t compare.”
“There’s no need to compare, but she really is stunning.”
“To be honest, this is the first time I’ve actually seen her face.”
“She can definitely debut with those visuals.”
Wangyue was oblivious to the stir she was causing. She stayed in her corner, sketching and writing. She wouldn’t dare mess with the script out of jealousy; her professional ethics remained intact. Her job was relatively light now, which gave her plenty of time to linger near Chuxian.
When Chuxian finally appeared on set for the shoot, Wangyue felt a smile spread across her face. Wait, stop smiling like an idiot, she scolded herself. People will think you’re a total fangirl. She felt her face go red—a sight that made Chuxian’s heart melt. What a cute little liar.
“Screenwriter Tang.”
Chuxian approached with a smile. Her wide Hanfu sleeves fluttered like falling rose petals against a backdrop of snow. The cold rose scent washed over Wangyue, leaving her in a daze.
“Morning, Teacher Yun.”
They had seen each other a few hours ago, but they had to act as if they hadn’t. Wangyue’s resistance was zero; she was completely mesmerized.
“Will you be with A-unit all day?” Chuxian asked.
“Yes.”
“Then I’ll have to trouble you. There are some script points I’d like to consult you on. Find me in my trailer at lunch.”
Chuxian’s voice was soft and honey-sweet. Wangyue’s ears turned bright red. “Okay.”
The trailer… plenty had happened in that trailer. Just the thought of being alone with her in there made Wangyue feel feverish. Her jealousy over the script evaporated. Regardless of the “pet” character, she was currently the only one allowed into Chuxian’s private space.
(Well, Bai Yu didn’t count.)
Chuxian’s seductive, lingering gaze finally pulled away, leaving Wangyue’s heart racing with anticipation. Besides, they still hadn’t addressed that late-night kiss. They couldn’t just ignore it forever, could they? Was this the “ambiguity phase” where everything was understood but nothing was said? Wangyue wasn’t a clinger, but she could feel Chuxian’s affection. She believed, instinctively, that Chuxian wasn’t the type to be careless with hearts.
******
When lunch finally arrived, Wangyue grabbed her meal box, ate quickly, and hurried to the trailer. For the first time, she approached by “using her face”—no one questioned her presence since Chuxian had invited her publicly.
She stepped inside and was met with a blast of cool air. The air conditioning was a godsend; outside, the temperature was climbing toward 40°C.
She found her way toward the back. Chuxian wasn’t in the lounge today; she was in the bedroom. Bai Yu was sitting in the living area, looking worried.
“The Boss isn’t feeling well. I think the heat got to her,” Bai Yu whispered. There were medicines and cooling patches on the table.
“Did she take her medicine?” Wangyue asked.
“No.”
Chuxian was perfect in every way except for taking medicine; she was impossible to manage. She insisted she just needed to sleep it off. Wangyue picked up the medicine and headed toward the bedroom. Bai Yu’s eyes lit up. Maybe with the Screenwriter there, she’ll actually take it. The Boss wouldn’t want to admit she’s afraid of medicine in front of the girl she likes, right?
(Bai Yu still didn’t quite realize how “shameless” her boss could be.)
Inside the room, Chuxian had removed her makeup and changed into silk pajamas. She lay on the bed, looking groggy.
“Should I call a doctor?” Wangyue asked softly.
Chuxian looked at her and weakly reached out, grabbing the hem of Wangyue’s shirt like a sick kitten. “I’m fine… just need to rest.” Her voice was barely a whisper.
“Then take your medicine.”
Chuxian pulled a pillow over her head in protest. Taking medicine was out of the question. Wangyue found the behavior adorable.
“Sister?” Wangyue tried to coax her.
No response. Chuxian stayed buried under the pillow. Wangyue gently pulled it away, revealing the actress’s exquisite face. Without her shield, Chuxian rolled over and buried her face in the mattress.
Wangyue shook her head with a smile. She opened the vial of medicine, poured it into her own mouth, then gently turned Chuxian over and leaned down to kiss her.
She gave Chuxian time to react, but the woman didn’t push her away. The bitter, herbal liquid was transferred between them. Wangyue thought the medicine was so foul it might make her hate kissing—but doing it this way with Chuxian made her actually enjoy it.
She opened a second vial. She figured she’d swallowed half of the first one herself, so she needed to make sure Chuxian got a full dose. She was nothing if not rigorous.
Outside, Bai Yu caught a glimpse and was stunned. You can do that?! Do not try this at home. She quickly closed the door and sat on a small stool outside the trailer, acting as a guard. She put on her headphones and turned up the rock music just to be safe.
Inside, Wangyue helped Chuxian up and held a glass of water to her lips. After a few gulps of soda water, the bitter taste faded.
“Tang Wangyue!” Chuxian gasped. If she weren’t so weak, she would have gagged.
Wangyue took a few sips of water herself, then popped a milk candy into Chuxian’s mouth. “Good girl, take your medicine, Sister,” she teased. Seeing that Chuxian had the energy to be annoyed made her feel better. “At least you have the strength to scold me now.”
“Who’s scolding you?” Chuxian huffed, but she wrapped her arms around Wangyue’s waist, her fingers tracing idle circles on her skin.
“Brat.”
Chuxian’s eyes were like a spring pool, shimmering and deep. Her hand traveled upward, gripping the collar of Wangyue’s shirt. The slight chill of her fingers made Wangyue shiver.
“My Yue… you truly are a feast for the eyes.”
