Why Did the Top Alpha Suddenly Stop Acting Out? - Chapter 59
[“What just darted out? I couldn’t even see it clearly! That speed is insane did the production team hire special forces to play this NPC?”]
[“Didn’t see it but that didn’t stop me from getting scared. AHHHHHH!”]
[“Girl in the front, your reaction time is a bit slow LOL”]
[“Am I the only one who noticed Yi Qian shouting ‘Shuyi’? [thinking]”]
Everything happened in an instant so fast that Yi Qian didn’t have time to react and grab the person behind her. By the time she realized what was happening, all she heard was Ye Shuyi’s panicked scream from behind the cabinet door.
She pulled out the flashlight she had just found and turned it on. The beam was limited, revealing only a passage behind the cabinet door. How deep or long it was remained unclear.
But she didn’t hesitate. She jumped straight into the passage.
Sliding down the tunnel, Yi Qian landed on a soft cushion. Ignoring the pain from the fall, she immediately raised the flashlight to search for Ye Shuyi.
Perhaps hearing the commotion, the moment the light landed on Ye Shuyi, the other woman turned to look in her direction. Delight flashed in Yi Qian’s eyes but in the next second, it turned to horror.
Before her, a female ghost slowly approached pale face, crimson lips, a streak of blood trailing from the corner of her mouth. Dressed in a loose black robe, her tangled long hair hung disheveled. Her bony, fleshless hands stretched forward, and an eerie aura radiated from her entire being.
If Ye Shuyi saw this ghost, she probably wouldn’t dare stay home alone for a week.
Normally, that would be a good thing for Yi Qian but she didn’t want her to be scared. Given their current relationship, she could easily find an excuse to stay at her place.
In a flash, she rushed forward, covering Ye Shuyi’s eyes with one hand while shining the flashlight directly into the ghost’s face. Her tone was playful: “Haven’t you finished your task yet? If not, come at me instead?”
The ghost froze momentarily before quickly delivering her scripted lines in a chilling voice: “You shouldn’t be here. This is my secret base. Trespassers must die!”
With a heavy emphasis on the last word, the ghost lunged at them. Yi Qian swiftly pulled Ye Shuyi into her arms, spinning around to shield her in a corner. “Keep your eyes closed and wait for me,” she instructed.
“You shouldn’t have come to my secret base! You’re just like those villains who want to steal my secrets! You all deserve to die, DIE!”
The ghost shrieked furiously before charging again.
“Are your eyes closed?” Yi Qian asked the woman in front of her.
Feeling Ye Shuyi nod, Yi Qian released her and dashed toward the ghost. In seconds, she subdued the specter, pinning her hands against the wall.
“Task done now?” Yi Qian asked flatly.
As if afraid Yi Qian might hurt her, the ghost nodded frantically.
“Then get out quietly?” Yi Qian’s tone remained indifferent.
Another frantic nod.
“If you don’t behave, I’ll tie you up here with a rope.”
She slowly let go.
The moment she was free, the ghost bolted as if a second’s delay would doom her.
[NPC: That was close, almost lost my life.]
[This time, Beauty Ye isn’t hiding her fear much, so adorable! Can anyone relate, fam?!?!]
[For someone as timid as a sesame seed like me, I really need a girlfriend like Yi Qian not only fearless but can even scare ghosts away. That overwhelming sense of security!]
[When will someone like Yi Qian become standard issue? I’m dead serious!!!]
After confirming the female ghost had left the room, Yi Qian swept the flashlight around again. The limited space was impeccably clean, with very few items only a small beanbag chair and a tiny bookshelf tucked in the far corner.
Perfect characteristics for a secret hideout.
Double-checking that nothing terrifying would jump out again, Yi Qian walked over to Ye Shuyi, patted her shoulder lightly, and handed her the other flashlight. “Since this is some kind of secret base, there must be important clues here. Let’s check the bookshelf?”
Ye Shuyi took the flashlight, turned it on, and glanced toward the bookshelf before nodding.
The two moved to the beanbag chair, working in perfect sync one searching the shelf while the other inspected the chair.
Yi Qian found nothing on the chair and looked up just as Ye Shuyi pulled out a small wooden box. Raising her flashlight, Yi Qian saw a padlock on the box engraved with the character “Sun” and a black heart symbol on the front.
Ye Shuyi examined the back of the lock, which required a four-digit code to open.
After scanning the surface for any password hints and finding none, she flipped the box over. Just as she was about to lift her flashlight, it was gently taken from her hand.
Puzzled, she turned to see Yi Qian smiling at her, holding both flashlights in one hand to illuminate the box. “That looks pretty heavy. Use both hands to hold it, I’ll handle the light.”
Ye Shuyi wanted to say the box wasn’t heavy at all, it probably just held a notebook or a book but seeing the reflected glow in Yi Qian’s eyes, she stayed silent and gave a slight nod.
She scrutinized the box for clues and finally spotted a few symbols carved in the bottom-right corner of the back:
ΑΙΘΓ
“Are these Greek symbols?” Yi Qian asked.
Ye Shuyi nodded.
“So the code should be the order of these in the Greek alphabet? Though I only remember the first three, Alpha (A) is first, Beta (B) second, Gamma (Γ) third. No clue where Iota and Theta fall in between.”
The moment she finished speaking, the lock clicked open. The person who unlocked it said calmly, “Ninth and eighth.”
Yi Qian was briefly stunned but quickly realized something and laughed. “How could I forget? You’re the one who memorized pi to 500 digits.”
Ye Shuyi’s fingers paused on the box lid. She tilted her head slightly, giving Yi Qian a quiet look. Yi Qian raised an eyebrow in confusion but soon understood the meaning behind that gaze, she’d just slipped up.
They were live right now.
She could practically imagine what the barrage comments would say things like: “How does Yi Qian know about this?” “Her expression totally gives it away when she says this, looking so proud like ‘my wife is amazing’.” “They definitely seem to have some secret between them!”
And in fact, her predictions matched the actual barrage comments almost perfectly.
Her expression stiffened momentarily, but she quickly recovered. The acting skills that had won her numerous awards were on full display now as she calmly covered up: “Looking at me like that are you curious how I knew you could do this?”
Ye Shuyi cooperatively nodded.
“As a public figure, I naturally did some research on my agent’s background. Manager Zhang told me you could recite pi—he shared quite a few of your impressive achievements to convince me to take you on as my agent.”
[Here it is!!! Just want to tell everyone one thing!!! Explaining means covering up!! Explaining means covering up!! Explaining means covering up!!]
[To the sister above, there’s more, covering up means there’s definitely something going on! These two absolutely have something between them!]
Ye Shuyi nodded faintly and opened the wooden box in her hands, revealing a diary inside.
The two exchanged an involuntary glance before flipping open the diary. On the first page, centered neatly, was a simple line: “The Love Story of Li Xiaoxiao and Teacher Sun.”
A student-teacher relationship?
They locked eyes again simultaneously, both visibly shocked.
[April 18, 2024 I’ve finally recovered and returned to school. Upon hearing of my return, Teacher Sun immediately came to check on me in the classroom. Though I was furious he never visited me during my hospitalization, seeing his worried expression at school instantly melted my anger. His absence wasn’t because he didn’t love me, he was just too busy with classes.]
[May 18, 2024 Over the past month, he’s checked on me daily. He truly loves me, and I’m so happy. I want him to meet me at my secret hideout.]
[May 19, 2024 Why has he stopped checking on me!!!!? During breaks he just laughs with other female students! Though he did smile at me once today. I forgive him. He must think our behavior has grown too intimate these past months, exceeding proper student-teacher boundaries, so he’s keeping some distance to protect me.]
[July 22, 2024 Two months have passed. He no longer speaks to me or gives me those gentle smiles. Why why why WHY! It must be that vixen Zheng Hua seducing him, they’re always laughing together. Is he deliberately ignoring me? Trying to make me break up with him!!! He’s absolutely doing this on purpose!! But I’ll NEVER agree to break up, he can forget about it! He belongs to ME!]
[August 22, 2024 Another month of his cold shoulder. Unforgivable. Him. Them. All unforgivable!]
[December 11, 2024
I saw him lying in a pool of blood. Who, who killed him? He was supposed to marry me. How could they separate us between life and death like this? I won’t let them get away with it not a single one of them!
[December 27, 2024
It’s all over now. Zhao Xiaohe, thank you.
Teacher Sun, I’m coming to join you.]
The diary ended permanently on this day.
Yi Qian looked at the person sitting on the beanbag chair. Ye Shuyi was frowning deeply, flipping through the diary in her hands, lost in thought.
The room was enveloped in a heavy silence.
After pondering for a while, Yi Qian speculated, “Do you think the killer could be one of the two people mentioned in the diary? Zheng Hua and Zhao Xiaohe, either one of them or both working together?”
Ye Shuyi remained silent for a moment before suddenly standing up calmly. “Let’s go. We can’t determine who the killer is yet, we still need more clues.”
Yi Qian nodded. Just as the two reached the door of their secret base, the crackling sound of electric currents once again echoed around the room.
