When the White Moonlight Holds the Script - Chapter 24.3
Zhu Zhihan wanted to avoid it, but due to her dizziness, her movements were a bit slow, and the other’s fingers brushed lightly against her skin.
Bo Mingwei’s frown deepened.
The temperature transmitted through her fingertips was scalding this person was ill.
She had only ever seen mortals fall sick. Could cultivators fall ill too? Or had she been poisoned?
Bo Mingwei turned around. “I’ll call for a physician.”
“No need to trouble yourself, Young Sect Leader.”
Zhu Zhihan didn’t want to be involved with her. “My illness is beyond the reach of medicine or remedies.”
Hearing this, Bo Mingwei became even more determined to summon a physician for diagnosis.
Zhu Zhihan had no choice. Perhaps she was truly feverish and muddled, as she briefly explained her constitution. She didn’t mention the Xuan Yin physique by name but spoke of its negative effects and assured that she wouldn’t die from it.
Only then did Bo Mingwei stop and fall silent.
Zhu Zhihan no longer forced herself to endure and leaned sideways against the table, even observing Bo Mingwei with a hint of curiosity.
In her previous life, when Bo Mingwei learned of her constitution, their relationship had not yet grown close, and there had been no particular reaction.
Later, when they became closer, Bo Mingwei would occasionally send her rare treasures that might be of some use, but given Bo Mingwei’s nature, she never brought it up in person.
Now, however, Bo Mingwei clenched her fists so tightly they trembled slightly, and her eyes seemed to redden.
Was it really that serious?
Zhu Zhihan detached herself emotionally, observing like a bystander.
Was this the power of “guilt”?
Bo Mingwei soon noticed Zhu Zhihan’s gaze and subtly turned away, pretending not to care.
Zhu Zhihan: …
Zhu Zhihan thought that would be the end of it.
Bo Mingwei knew she was ill and that her illness was incurable, what more could she do? At most, she might force some nourishing remedies on her.
But Zhu Zhihan had clearly underestimated Bo Mingwei.
Bo Mingwei said, “I’ve heard that the guardian of the secret realm here is skilled in healing and uses methods different from those of our Immortal Alliance. I’ll take you to her.”
Zhu Zhihan: ?
Once the Young Sect Leader made up her mind, not even ten horses could pull her back. Moments later, Zhu Zhihan was seated in the Young Sect Leader’s exclusive palanquin, its lowered curtains and protective arrays shielding them from the wind, snow, and prying eyes.
The Young Sect Leader rode outside on a celestial horse, keeping pace beside the palanquin.
Zhu Zhihan recalled what had just happened and still felt a lingering unease.
Earlier, when she had refused to move, Bo Mingwei thought for a moment and actually reached out, attempting to carry her Zhu Zhihan wished she could instantly recover and walk briskly on her own.
Perhaps Zhu Zhihan’s resistance was too obvious, as Bo Mingwei pursed her lips and eventually called for attendants to bring a small sedan chair to carry her out of “Water and Sky Merge.”
The guardian of the secret realm.
Zhu Zhihan had little memory of them. In her previous life, given her cultivation level at the time, she hadn’t reached that tier.
She didn’t know how much the guardian of the secret realm could accomplish.
Zhu Zhihan rubbed her throbbing forehead.
She truly didn’t want to owe Bo Mingwei any favors.
She hoped the guardian of the secret realm would also be at a loss. Otherwise, she’d have to find some other way to repay the debt.
The sanctuary guardian’s outpost was very far away.
But the palanquin moved swiftly, and they arrived before long.
Zhu Zhihan lifted the curtain, and Bo Mingwei promptly conjured a spiritual barrier to shield her from the wind and snow.
Zhu Zhihan was almost ready to view Bo Mingwei in a new light, the young sect master, who lacked common sense and rarely showed any awareness of caring for others, had actually gone this far.
But that was all.
When Bo Mingwei reached out to help her out of the palanquin, Zhu Zhihan lightly avoided her hand and leaped down on her own.
A flicker of disappointment crossed Bo Mingwei’s eyes.
To Zhu Zhihan’s surprise, the sanctuary guardians of the Snow Mountain Sanctuary referred to the entire Lu Yun tribe, a non-human race residing in the snowy mountains, numbering around a hundred people.
The one Bo Mingwei was looking for was Su Chaya, the daughter of the Lu Yun tribe’s chieftain, reputedly the most skilled healer in the entire tribe.
Su Chaya was a strikingly exotic beauty with deep-set eyes, a high nose bridge, light brown hair, fair skin, and vividly red lips.
“Dear guests, welcome,” the exotic beauty greeted, her expression tinged with a constant melancholy, her smile faint and restrained.
Bo Mingwei stated their identities and purpose, offering an exorbitant reward.
Su Chaya seemed somewhat surprised. “My medical skills are shallow; I dare not make grand promises. Let me take a look first.”
She approached Zhu Zhihan.
“Your hair is as white as the snow here. So beautiful.”
Su Chaya carried the scent of herbs typical of healers, which brought a sense of calm to Zhu Zhihan’s muddled mind.
Zhu Zhihan pursed her lips slightly. “Thank you.”
“I’ll begin examining you now. Don’t be afraid,” Su Chaya said gently.
Zhu Zhihan found it both amusing and exasperating, feeling as though Su Chaya was coaxing a child though, given her physical age, she was indeed quite young.
She heard Su Chaya chanting in an ancient language, her hands clasped together, surrounded by a faint green glow.
After a moment, Su Chaya opened her eyes, her brow furrowed.
“I’ve never seen anything like this. This isn’t normal. Something is obscured; it shouldn’t be.”
Su Chaya muttered something, but her words were too rapid for Zhu Zhihan to catch clearly.
It seemed, from Su Chaya’s meaning, that the Xuan Yin physique was more than just a simple ailment.
A while later, Zhu Zhihan heard Su Chaya sigh, her eyes filled with guilt. “I can’t discern the root of your illness. I cannot cure it.”
Zhu Zhihan felt a subtle sense of relief and smiled faintly. “It’s alright. I’m used to it.”
Besides, the system had provided her with a way to increase her health limit her sickly condition could be cured.
