When The Harem Novel’s Heroine Meets The Tragic Heroine - Chapter 21
After getting into the car, Bei Qiuqiu gulped down half a bottle of water before she finally calmed down.
She tilted her head to look at Yu Qingling beside her. “Sister, were you scared just now?”
Yu Qingling shook her head.
Bei Qiuqiu withdrew her gaze, almost forgetting that just moments ago, her beloved had effectively repelled an armed assailant with a single hand. She had been composed and unruffled—even confident. How could she possibly be afraid?
She was a little curious: what did Yu Qingling do before becoming a martial arts coach?
Had she experienced similar thrills in the past? Perhaps even more dangerous than this?
However, the words reached the tip of her tongue, but she couldn’t bring herself to ask.
The sports car started, yet it moved as slowly as a crawling turtle, wandering along the empty road.
Inside the car, Yu Qingling oriented herself and asked, “Is this the way to your home?”
Bei Qiuqiu bit her lip, her voice buzzing softly. “No, I don’t want to go home. I’ll be very scared staying in my room alone.”
She looked pitiful, making one want to pat her head.
Since the girl had been frightened like this because of her own actions, Yu Qingling felt she should take responsibility and offer comfort. “Go back. I’ll stay and accompany you tonight.”
Bei Qiuqiu let out an “Ah,” looking over in surprise.
Yu Qingling was very serious. “That way, you won’t be afraid.”
After the initial shock, Bei Qiuqiu’s smile did not fade as she pursed her lips.
The sports car made a U-turn, accelerated, and headed home.
At this time of night, almost everyone in the Bei family compound had retired for the rest, and the main building was pitch black.
This was the first time Bei Qiuqiu had brought Yu Qingling home. As soon as they entered the foyer, she hurriedly turned on the wall lamp to find a pair of new slippers.
Guests often visited the Bei household, so the servants kept plenty of new slippers prepared.
However, the styles were all the same—a basic navy blue. She thought to herself that tomorrow she must buy a pair of slippers that matched her “Sister” perfectly to keep at home.
Staying the night together like this might happen frequently in the future.
After changing their shoes, the two went straight upstairs.
Bei Qiuqiu’s room was at the far end of the second floor. At this moment, the door was wide open, and the items on the table were in disarray; it was obvious someone had rummaged through her things while she was out.
Bei Qiuqiu suppressed the urge to settle scores with Bei Miaomiao and Liang Meiyue in the middle of the night and instead squeezed a glass of fresh fruit juice for Yu Qingling.
“Sister, have some to help sober up.”
As the sweet and sour juice entered her mouth, Yu Qingling squinted her eyes slightly. She surveyed Bei Qiuqiu’s room. It was about the same size as her own apartment, but the style was completely different.
The entire room was composed of warm, pale yellows and oranges. The wall at the head of the bed was covered in plush dolls, filled with the gentleness and cuteness of a young girl.
The bedrooms of noble ladies in the capital were probably something like this, she thought.
Seeing Yu Qingling’s clear eyes, Bei Qiuqiu sighed. “Sister, your alcohol tolerance is so good!”
Xiao Qingtian, a grown man, was unconscious after only half a bottle.
Yet she had watched with her own eyes as Yu Qingling drained a whole bottle of whiskey without hesitation, then moved with sharp precision to stop the man who tried to stab Xiao Qingtian with a dagger.
Yu Qingling gave a hum of affirmation. “I can drink a thousand cups without falling.”
Bei Qiuqiu let out an “Aye.” “I fall after just one cup.”
The two looked at each other and then looked away, a silent smile spreading between them.
After finishing the juice, Yu Qingling put down the glass and sat on the windowsill, crossing her legs in the posture of an old monk entering meditation. “Go and rest, I will guard you.”
Bei Qiuqiu blinked. How would she guard her? By sitting motionless on the windowsill all night like before?
She didn’t want that.
With a cautious probe, she asked, “Sister, there’s only one bed in my room, but there are plenty of blankets. How about we share the bed?”
Yu Qingling paused, and that pause immediately made Bei Qiuqiu’s heart leap into her throat.
“My bed is quite big, it’s very spacious even with two people! That windowsill… It’s too hard. Sister, if you sit there all night, you’ll definitely end up with a sore back and leg cramps.”
Yu Qingling shook her head. “No, meditation only makes my whole body feel comfortable.”
“But the windowsill is quite far from the bed. I still don’t feel safe.”
That pitiful expression returned. Bei Qiuqiu bit her rosy lip, her large eyes looking like a startled deer, misty and clouded.
Yu Qingling looked hesitantly at the distance between the bed and the windowsill, which was less than two meters. If even this was considered far, then she would just have to go onto the bed.
She nodded helplessly in agreement. They were both women; sleeping in the same place wasn’t an issue.
Bei Qiuqiu nearly wanted to jump up and celebrate.
She was about to share a bed with her beloved!
She ran to the wardrobe and began searching for pajamas. After rummaging around, she pulled out a silk fishtail nightgown, folded it carefully, and placed new underwear on top of it.
Turning around, she saw Yu Qingling lifting her arm to sniff the scent on her own clothes.
The smell of the food stalls mixed with the scent of alcohol lingered on her, and it wasn’t pleasant.
It wasn’t that she couldn’t keep wearing the clothes after a midnight snack.
Back when she was leading troops in war, conditions were harsh, and such minor details couldn’t be helped; she could adapt quickly.
But thinking about wearing these heavy-smelling clothes onto that soft, milky-white, large bed, she began to hesitate. Should she stay off the bed after all?
Bei Qiuqiu ran back, offering the change of clothes with both hands. “Sister, this set of pajamas is new. You wear it. Why don’t you take a shower first?”
As she spoke, she pushed the other woman into the bathroom and helped turn on the water.
Yu Qingling breathed a sigh of relief. Without looking closely at the style of the clothes Bei Qiuqiu had stuffed into her hands, she entered the bathroom.
She took off her clothes to scrub them clean, took a quick shower, and only when it was time to put on the pajamas did she realize that what Bei Qiuqiu had given her was a dress—and a rather revealing one at that.
Yu Qingling had a long internal struggle in the bathroom before she finally put on the nightgown and stepped out.
