When The Harem Novel’s Heroine Meets The Tragic Heroine - Chapter 13
Perhaps it was because they were speechless, or perhaps they were simply fuming, but Liuliu became as quiet as a chicken.
Bei Qiuqiu was happy to have some peace and began to observe her surroundings.
The space inside the van was cramped. There were five men: one driving, while the remaining four stared at her and Yu Qingling, looking as if they were afraid the two might team up and escape midway. They had separated her and Yu Qingling, placing them in the middle and back rows.
Compared to Yu Qingling’s composure, Bei Qiuqiu’s heart was constantly in her throat. She asked Liuliu, “According to the plot, what exactly happens next?”
Liuliu seemed to be angry and responded very slowly. After a long pause, it finally spoke, repeating the plot it had told her before: “Next, the host will be locked in a villa by Feng Yuanhua for a day and a night.”
As for what happened during those twenty-four hours, there was no way of knowing.
Bei Qiuqiu was very worried, especially now that an extra person was accompanying her through the mission. If possible, she didn’t want to involve the person she liked in these foul plot missions.
She asked Liuliu, “As long as I stay on Feng Yuanhua’s turf for a full day and night, the mission counts as completed, right?”
“Theoretically, yes.”
Fortunately, the original novel didn’t have detailed descriptions of the scene, so she still had room to improvise.
The van drove further and further away from the city center, heading into the desolate suburbs. After several twists and turns, it finally stopped outside a villa halfway up a mountain.
The lead man got out of the car and urged the people inside to hurry into the villa.
Yu Qingling was in a relaxed mood, looking around as if she were a guest invited for a tour. Judging by the villa’s decoration style, it was antique and full of charm, making her feel a bit nostalgic for the past.
The five men who had brought them there stood guard at the main entrance, never leaving their posts after ushering them inside.
The huge villa was brightly lit but dead silent—so quiet it was somewhat eerie.
From the moment she entered, Bei Qiuqiu followed closely by Yu Qingling’s side, never straying a step.
Yu Qingling asked in confusion, “Are you afraid?”
Bei Qiuqiu nodded. The unknown was the easiest thing to trigger fear. Especially since she was a “tragic female lead” whom the whole world wanted to abuse just to make millions of readers cry. “Sister, aren’t you afraid?”
Yu Qingling shook her head. She was bold due to her high level of skill, and since she didn’t sense any immediate danger, she pressed forward.
Thinking that Bei Qiuqiu was as timid as a small rabbit, she kindly and proactively reached out her hand. “If you’re scared, you can hold my hand.”
Bei Qiuqiu looked up, her eyes shimmering. Could she hold hands with her sister so soon?
Happiness came too suddenly. While her mind was wandering with romantic thoughts, she slowly extended her own hand.
But before she could interlace her fingers with the other woman, her wrist was proactively gripped by Yu Qingling through her long sleeves.
Undoubtedly, the hand-holding she had imagined did not happen.
Bei Qiuqiu was pulled by Yu Qingling straight up to the second floor.
They had been here for quite a while, yet that “fatty” still hadn’t shown his face, acting all mysterious. They could only take the initiative to seek him out.
However, after a round of searching, the villa turned out to be empty.
When they returned to the main hall on the first floor, a maid appeared out of nowhere. She stood in the center of the hall holding two cups of tea. Seeing the two come down from upstairs, she set the cups down.
Yu Qingling asked her directly, “Where is that fat guy named Feng?”
The maid didn’t seem to mind her rudeness at all. She said with a smile, “Mr. Feng has some temporary business and cannot meet the two ladies for the time being. Are you two guests of Mr. Feng? Please rest for a moment; the master should be back shortly.”
After speaking, she quietly retreated.
From her previous life, Bei Qiuqiu had developed a habit of not eating or drinking anything of unknown origin. She didn’t even look at the tea on the table.
Yu Qingling, however, pulled her over and picked up a teacup to examine it closely.
The teacup was painted with lifelike dancers and beautiful, intricate patterns; it looked very exquisite.
She lifted the lid, sniffed it lightly, and then frowned. She sniffed it carefully again and came to a conclusion: “Something has been added to this.”
Bei Qiuqiu’s brow twitched. “What was added?”
Yu Qingling shook her head. “I don’t know. The scent is very faint; I almost didn’t catch it.”
Although they didn’t know what was added to the tea, it likely served one of a few predictable purposes.
Bei Qiuqiu cursed the system and the original author in her heart. To torment her, they never let her have a moment of peace, constantly trying to set traps for her.
Her mind raced as she carefully scanned her surroundings.
Drawing on her past experience, she soon spotted the silhouette of a camera in a hidden corner.
There was a possibility: Feng Yuanhua was hiding behind the camera right now, watching their every move and waiting for them to drink the tea.
If they never touched the tea, Feng Yuanhua would surely have other tricks to deal with them. It would be better to pretend to drink it and fake being affected to lure him out.
Bei Qiuqiu looked at Yu Qingling. Such a celestial beauty should be encountering such a disgusting scheme for the first time, right? She was full of apologies, just in time to see Yu Qingling give her a meaningful look.
There was no verbal communication, but the two reached a silent understanding.
They would pretend to drink the tea.
Then, Bei Qiuqiu saw Yu Qingling pick up the teacup again and bring it close to her red lips. Her movements were fast and elegant, carrying an indescribable grace as she lightly mimicked a sip.
If she hadn’t been standing so close, being able to clearly see from this angle that her lips didn’t even touch the rim of the cup, Bei Qiuqiu would have thought she really drank the spiked tea.
Her acting is great; is she self-taught?
Bei Qiuqiu dazed off for a moment until Yu Qingling gave her another look, reminding her it was her turn.
She took the teacup from Yu Qingling’s hand, followed her example by partially lifting the lid, gave it a gentle blow, and lowered her head to take a shallow “drink.”
It was only then that Yu Qingling realized Bei Qiuqiu had taken her cup.
Surprise flashed for only a second. Then she remembered that since their lips hadn’t actually touched the cup, it didn’t count as using something she had used.
Besides, Bei Qiuqiu was probably just momentarily nervous and made a small mistake.
