- Chapter 71 - Gu Tang Can Still Be Saved
Yin Ziyan didn’t know what Jiang Yan was rushing to do. She quickly followed her but found her looking utterly resigned, as if she had aged three years in an instant.
“Older sister, what’s wrong?”
Looking at Yin Ziyan’s concerned gaze, Jiang Yan felt even more hopeless about her survival.
Gu Tang is already so black (darkened); can she ever be cleansed? She had been so resolute about divorce before. Going back now and saying she won’t divorce would be too abnormal. People might think she was crazy.
What should she do?
Seeing Jiang Yan didn’t reply, Yin Ziyan remained quiet, waiting beside her for her to speak. Jiang Yan completely ignored her, only thinking about how to salvage the current situation.
After thinking for a long time, Jiang Yan remembered her often-overlooked parents. When she married Gu Tang, they didn’t actually think much of Gu Tang. But in the past two years, they had grown increasingly fond of her. If they knew she wanted a divorce, they would surely try to persuade her, right?
A thought sparked action. Jiang Yan immediately picked up her phone and dialed Lin Miaomiao’s number. It rang several times before being answered. Lin Miaomiao’s voice was still a little hoarse.
“What is it?”
“Miaomiao, did you tell my parents about my divorce?”
Lin Miaomiao pushed the hand pressing on her away, rubbing her waist as she sat up. “No, you didn’t tell me to. How would I dare? What would they do if they knew?”
Jiang Yan said without hesitation, “Then tell them now. Just say I’m dead set on divorce, and Gu Tang can’t stop me no matter how hard she tries.”
Lin Miaomiao found it strange why she would say that, but a hand wrapped around her waist, pulling her back onto the bed.
“Ah!”
A short, alarmed scream. Jiang Yan thought something was wrong and quickly asked if she was okay. Lin Miaomiao looked at the triumphant person beside her and vaguely hung up the phone.
“Let go of me! You’ve achieved your goal. Aren’t you going to let me leave?”
The glamorous-looking woman just smiled, unexpectedly biting her ear. “My goal is far from being achieved. Since you have so much energy, let’s continue what we were doing last night.”
Lin Miaomiao’s protests were swallowed by the woman, and she soon softened.
After hanging up the phone, Jiang Yan anxiously waited for her parents to call and question her. Several minutes passed without any movement.
Did Miaomiao not tell them at all? She was a little puzzled but wasn’t in a hurry to confirm, instead joining Yin Ziyan for a tasteless breakfast.
“Then I’ll be going now, older sister. If you want anything for lunch, you can tell me. I’ll go down and buy it for you, or I can cook it for you.”
Jiang Yan nodded distractedly. Yin Ziyan knew she was preoccupied and tactfully backed out.
The moment the door closed, the smile on Yin Ziyan’s face completely vanished. She didn’t know if Jiang Yan’s phone call was to expedite the divorce process or to ask her parents to mediate between her and Gu Tang and reconcile. If it was the latter, then shouldn’t she work harder to show the older sister her good side?
She turned to go back to her own home. The phone rang just as she closed the door.
Lin Miaomiao was so exhausted she slept until the afternoon. Her throat was so hoarse she couldn’t speak, but she still called Jiang Yan’s mother.
After telling Jiang Mu (Jiang’s Mother) about Jiang Yan’s intention to divorce, Jiang Mu naturally became agitated, her voice turning sharp. “What?! You said Yanyan wants to divorce Xiao Tang (Little Tang)?!”
“Yes, Auntie. Yanyan was the one who proposed it first. Gu Tang is desperately trying to save it, but Yanyan seems determined to divorce. She has already moved out of the Yu Jing Yuan apartment.”
“That rebellious daughter! She’s trying to anger me to death! I’ll go find her now and drag her by the ear to apologize to Xiao Tang.”
Lin Miaomiao wanted to laugh thinking of Jiang Yan getting her ear pulled. She softly gave Jiang Yan’s address. “Yanyan is currently living in the Lake Number One apartment.”
“I know. Miaomiao, you’re a good child. I support you. Your voice sounds wrong. Are you catching a cold? You should take care of yourself.”
Lin Miaomiao’s face flushed. She replied, “I know, Auntie. Then you go find Yanyan first.”
Hanging up the phone, Lin Miaomiao realized Caisang was standing by the door, arms crossed, watching her. She immediately scowled and gave her a nasty look.
Caisang sighed helplessly and walked toward her. “You’re always smiling nicely at others. Can’t you be gentle with me?”
“No,” Lin Miaomiao concisely stated her mood.
Caisang reached out and stroked her face, her tone slightly threatening. “Then I’ll just have to keep you in bed all the time. That’s the only way you’ll be obedient, right?”
Lin Miaomiao was terrified. She quickly pulled the quilt over her face, leaving only a pair of horrified eyes exposed. “Are you even human? You still won’t let me go when I’m like this?!”
“Then call me ‘Wife,’ and I’ll let you get out of bed.”
Although she was often forced to call her “Wife” when they were doing things, she truly couldn’t say it for no reason. As they reached a stalemate, Caisang extended her “wicked hand” under the quilt.
Lin Miaomiao’s body temperature was already high. When Caisang’s hand, cold as ice, touched her, she shivered, curling up. Caisang’s hand moved inch by inch upward, her eyes full of mischievousness. Lin Miaomiao couldn’t take it anymore and grabbed her hand just as it was about to reach a certain spot.
“I’ll call you! Can’t I just call you!”
“Mm-hmm?” Caisang watched her with amusement.
“W-Wife…” Lin Miaomiao’s voice was as faint as a mosquito’s buzz. She expected Caisang to tease her as usual but was surprised to receive a hug instead.
“It would be great if you were this obedient normally, my little wildcat.”
Caisang’s voice was enchanting, the kind that could arouse desire. Lin Miaomiao usually just argued with her. Hearing her talk like this suddenly made her face turn red.
You jerk! Don’t think I’ll ignore the fact that you’re a pervert just because you put on a serious act.
Gu Tang hadn’t gone to the company for two days. Qiao Ling probably guessed something, so she happily went to get her hair done and bought an expensive off-the-shoulder dress. She padded her chest high, creating a deep cleavage. She was 100% turning heads on the street.
Arriving at Yu Jing Yuan, she expertly went up to the twentieth floor and rang Gu Tang’s doorbell.
Gu Tang was completely drunk. Ji Qiong had brought her back and taken care of her for half the night. Just as she was catching her breath, the doorbell rang.
Seeing a familiar face, Ji Qiong let her in. Qiao Ling greeted her naturally, “Ji Qiong Senior, don’t you recognize me?”
Hearing the voice, Ji Qiong’s dust-covered memories stirred. She asked uncertainly, “Are you Qiao Ling?”
“It’s me. I didn’t expect Senior to still remember me.” Qiao Ling looked very happy, her smile sweet, showing eight teeth.
Ji Qiong discreetly sized her up. She thought, Indeed, one should look at a person with new eyes after a separation. Qiao Ling never used to have such a good figure, more like a shriveled green bean. Now, she was curvy, and her overall demeanor had improved.
No wonder Jiang Yan wants to divorce Old Gu because of her. She had the assets.
Ji Qiong recalled the phone call she had received earlier, a flash of slyness in her eyes. She said to Qiao Ling, “You came at the perfect time. I was just about to go down and buy something. I’ll trouble you to look after Gu Tang.”
Qiao Ling thought, Such good luck! She was alone in a room with a woman. Wouldn’t she be free to do whatever she wanted? She could take some suggestive photos and send them to Jiang Yan. The divorce would be guaranteed.
Ji Qiong knew her intentions but just smiled without saying anything, walking around her and leaving. The moment the door closed, Qiao Ling eagerly headed toward the bedroom. Seeing Gu Tang on the bed, her hands trembled with excitement.
The timing, the location, and the people are all perfect. If she doesn’t do something now, she will regret it.
She put down her bag, approached the bedroom, and closed the door. She pulled down her dress, exposing a large area of white skin. She leaned toward Gu Tang and stroked her face.
Gu Tang was half-asleep and felt someone touching her. Even though her head was pounding, she struggled to open her eyes. Upon seeing the face in front of her, her foggy mind immediately cleared.
“Qiao Ling, what are you doing here?” She was certain this was her home. How did Qiao Ling get in?
Qiao Ling acted shy, pressing her entire body onto Gu Tang. Her chest rubbed against her arm, making Gu Tang extremely uncomfortable. “I heard you’re in a bad mood, so I came to check on you. Are you okay?”
Gu Tang used all her strength to push Qiao Ling away and got out of bed from the other side. “I’m fine. You should go back.” Qiao Ling’s hungry state made her feel that the bed was a very dangerous place, and she needed to stay away.
Qiao Ling was unwilling to see Gu Tang reject her even while drunk. She crawled across the bed. In the process, her dress offered almost no cover, and her upper body was nearly completely exposed. Gu Tang saw her chance and ran out, unwilling to have any further involvement with her.
Qiao Ling gritted her teeth and scoffed, turning to chase her. The two played a cat-and-mouse game of her running and Qiao Ling chasing. Gu Tang’s head was still spinning. She slipped carelessly and stumbled onto the floor. Qiao Ling finally seized the opportunity and immediately pinned her down.
Jiang Yan was dragged along by her mother for half an hour of scolding about her ear. She reluctantly followed her to reconcile with Gu Tang. Opening the door, she was greeted by this explosive scene. For a moment, all four people were stunned.
Jiang Mu froze, then shouted, “What are you doing?!”
Gu Tang shoved Qiao Ling away, scrambled up from the floor, and rushed to Jiang Mu and Jiang Yan, stammering, “Mom, Yanyan, please listen to me. Nothing happened between us. Don’t misunderstand.”
Jiang Yan lowered her head, glancing at Qiao Ling. She couldn’t understand why she would put herself in such a demeaning position. She’s clearly beautiful and has a good figure. She could find a good girlfriend if she tried properly. Why bother with someone else’s wife?
Jiang Mu was furious. Seeing her daughter lowering her head, she was certain she had endured a lot of hardship. I even dragged my daughter here, hoping they would reconcile! Now it seems I was wrong to blame my daughter.
“Yanyan, let’s go! If I had known you wanted to divorce Gu Tang because of this, I would never have forced you to come here!”
Although she liked Gu Tang, she loved her daughter most. Her daughter absolutely couldn’t suffer this kind of humiliation.
Jiang Yan was forcibly pulled away, instantly putting on a pained expression. “Mom, please don’t be angry. I think Gu Tang can still be saved.” Your daughter doesn’t want her to blacken anymore. Please let me go back and “endure humiliation” to save her!
Jiang Mu only thought her daughter was speaking out of anger and said sternly, “Saved from what? We won’t tolerate this humiliation! Come back with Mom. Mom will arrange someone better for you tomorrow!”
Gu Tang nearly choked hearing this. She wanted to chase after them but was grabbed by the arm by Qiao Ling.
“Tang Tang, Jiang Yan doesn’t love you at all. Otherwise, why wouldn’t she believe you? Why are you humiliating yourself for her?”
Gu Tang turned to look at her, her eyes cold as ice. “Get lost! Don’t let me see you again, or I will make you regret ever coming back!”
