When a "Sea King" is Bound to a System [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 34.2
Yan froze, then immediately regretted biting her tongue.
She had indeed said in front of everyone that she only wanted to be a ‘Player,’ but that was just to keep others from bothering her. It was supposed to be automatically invalid for Qinghan.
“Senior, that was just something I said to put people off. You are the one I like!”
Qinghan was stunned. Yan was also stunned. The moment she realized what she had said, she wanted to bite her tongue off even more.
She had blurted out her inappropriate feelings in a moment of urgency. Would Qinghan never speak to her again?
Qinghan was momentarily frozen, then said, “Stop joking.”
A joke like this on April Fool’s Day wasn’t funny at all.
She continued walking forward, wiping her mouth with her hand. There was still a faint smell of smoke on her lips, but it wasn’t as unpleasant as she had imagined.
She really is bewitching. No wonder so many people rush to her.
Yan followed behind her, trying to explain non-stop. Qinghan walked on without saying a word, only stopping when they were close to the academic building.
“How long are you going to follow me?”
“Until the Senior is no longer angry.”
Qinghan narrowed her eyes, her tone mocking, “Is this another one of your new tricks to flirt with girls?”
The hope in Yan’s heart instantly vanished, like a basin of cold water being poured over her head, chilling her to the core.
She knew Qinghan misunderstood her, but she didn’t know where to begin to explain, especially since she was the one who had said, “I want to give all my little sisters a warm home,” right in front of her.
But that wasn’t her sincere thought!
Perhaps she had thought that way before entering the school, but after meeting Qinghan, that idea changed. All her thoughts were focused on her. Why else would she spend all her time trying to “coincidentally” run into her in every corner of the school? Wouldn’t it be nicer to just hang out with cute, gentle girls?
Seeing Yan remain silent, Qinghan assumed she had defaulted to the truth. The sarcasm on her face intensified, and her mood soured even more.
It really was an April Fool’s joke.
Yan stopped following her. Qinghan didn’t like having anyone outside of her work get involved with her, and if others saw them together, it would trouble her.
After standing for a while, Yan walked back dejectedly, bumping into someone without warning.
She looked up. A very pure-looking girl was rubbing her forehead. She was half a head shorter than Yan, delicate and cute.
“Are you okay?”
The girl looked at her and gave a sweet smile, “I’m fine. Did I bump into you?”
Yan shook her head, thinking, With your small frame, even two more of you wouldn’t hurt me.
“Oh, right, classmate. Do you know where the Industrial Management class meets?”
“Which year’s Industrial Management class?”
“Year 2016.”
Yan hadn’t expected this girl to be in the same class as her, but she had never seen her before. Even if she didn’t pay much attention to her classmates, she wouldn’t mistake her.
Later, as an apology, she took the girl to the classroom and was caught red-handed by the homeroom teacher.
The girl pleaded pitifully for her, and the usually strict homeroom teacher actually let her off the hook.
Stepping out of the office, the girl smiled adorably, “You helped me once, and I helped you once. We’re even.”
Yan nodded. That worked out perfectly. She wasn’t used to owing others favors.
“Oh, right. My name is Yuzhi Xia.”
“I’m Yan Jiang.”
“I know. I heard the teacher scolding you just now.”
Yan: “…” It really wasn’t necessary to mention the part where I was scolded.
The two returned to class. After class, Fanyi Meng walked over and said to Yan and Yuzhi, “No classes this afternoon. Shall we go eat first or go back to sleep?”
When they returned to the dorm, Yan learned that Fanyi and Yuzhi had met yesterday. Yuzhi was one of the two roommates who lived in the city. She had been studying abroad and had only recently returned, moving into the dorm last night.
As the previous two days had been the weekend, and with her mother’s death anniversary, Yan had gone home with Yao, which was why she hadn’t known about the new person in the dorm.
Yuzhi’s family clearly had money. Her bed was decorated like a little princess’s, with lace bedding and a pink mosquito net, making Yan’s and Fanyi’s beds look incredibly simple.
The three rested together, but only Yan was tossing and turning on her bed.
She had sent a message to Qinghan, but there was still no reply after four hours. It seemed Qinghan was truly angry.
Yan started to feel restless again. She turned her face outwards and met Yuzhi’s eyes.
“Do you have something on your mind?”
Yan didn’t know how to answer. She shoved her phone under the pillow and pretended to be carefree, “No, I just can’t sleep. It’s annoying.”
Yuzhi patted her bed, which looked extremely comfortable, and said, “Come sleep on my bed. You’ll fall asleep quickly.”
“No, no. I can sleep on my own bed. I’m going to sleep now.”
Yan immediately turned her face to the inside, with her back to Yuzhi.
The young girl had absolutely no sense of self-protection. Thankfully, Yan had put away her ‘Player’ intentions, or else she might have gone over and shared the bed.
Yuzhi looked at Yan, who had bundled herself up, and the corner of her lips curled into a lovely arc, her eyes brimming with a smile.
Didn’t they say she was a Player? She doesn’t look like it. She’s just like a pure little girl. So cute.
Qinghan didn’t reply to Yan’s messages for over a week. Yan wanted to go find her, but she was constantly entangled with Yuzhi and couldn’t get away.
“Yan Yan, I only have you and Yi Yi as friends in school. She can’t accompany me today, so please come with me. I have no clothes left to wear. If I don’t buy new ones, I’ll have to go out naked tomorrow.”
Yan rubbed her temples helplessly, agreeing to be the escort.
Mainly, Yuzhi’s butler had come over two days ago and paid the four years of electricity and water bills for their dorm. He also gave Yan and Fanyi an expensive set of clothes, saying Yuzhi requested that the three of them wear the same clothes—sister outfits.
Yan felt awkward accepting it, but Yuzhi raised her small face, blinked her big eyes, and asked if Yan didn’t want to be her friend. Seeing this, Fanyi severely criticized Yan, telling her not to bully the new roommate.
Yan didn’t feel like she was bullying Yuzhi; rather, she felt the two of them were scheming against her.
“Yan Yan, are you reluctant to come out with me?” Yuzhi had a look of having done something wrong, pouting pitifully, “If you don’t want to, then go back. I won’t go out to buy clothes.”
Yan felt unspeakable bitterness and just wanted to scream for help.
It wouldn’t have been strange if all three of them went out together wearing the same clothes—a dorm uniform, after all. But now, with Fanyi gone, it was just her and Yuzhi, which looked odd. They had already attracted a lot of attention just leaving the dorm building.
Now, I just hope I don’t run into the Senior. Amen.
“I’m not reluctant. How could I be reluctant to go shopping with our great beauty Yuzhi?”
Yuzhi instantly cheered up and laughed, “Then let’s go! After buying clothes, let’s go have a candlelight dinner! Perfect!”
Yan didn’t want a candlelight dinner; she just wanted to beg Yuzhi to let her go.
Just as she was about to relax as they approached the school gate, Qinghan walked in from outside the school and spotted her immediately.
Yan: “!!!”
I didn’t check the almanac before leaving. This is bad luck!
Yuzhi was completely oblivious to the danger approaching and was still discussing dinner plans with Yan.
“Yan Yan, which restaurant should we go to tonight? I know a Western restaurant that’s quite nice, but I don’t know if you’d like it.”
Yan felt a surge of tension. She shook the hand that was hooked onto her arm but couldn’t shake it off. She didn’t know if it was her imagination, but she even felt Yuzhi leaning closer to her as Qinghan approached, resting her head on Yan’s shoulder, looking extremely intimate.
Qinghan paused, then continued walking as if nothing was wrong. Yan quickly grabbed her and said anxiously, “It’s not what you think. We’re just going out to buy something.”
Qinghan gave her hand a cold, subtle glance and calmly brushed it off. “Classmate Yan Jiang, you don’t need to report this kind of thing to me.”
Before Yan could figure out what to say next, Yuzhi spoke up.
“Yan Yan, is this Senior the Student Union President? Are you two close? Why don’t you invite her to dinner with us?”
“We’re not close.”
“We’re very close.”
Two voices spoke simultaneously, the answers completely opposite.
Yuzhi “giggled” and pulled Yan back.
“Oh, the Senior probably has something important to do. Let’s not bother her. We agreed to have a candlelight dinner. Let’s go quickly!”
Qinghan’s eyes darkened, and she turned to walk inside.
Yan was left completely dispirited, like a frost-bitten eggplant, wilted and lifeless. Yuzhi was in good spirits, enthusiastically trying on clothes.
“Yan Yan, come in and help me zip up my dress.”
Yan sat still, “Ask the sales assistant to help you.”
“Oh, just help me, please! I’m not used to strangers watching me change.”
Yan reluctantly went in and, seeing Yuzhi half-naked, quickly averted her gaze, saying unnaturally, “Put the dress on properly first. I can’t zip it like this.”
Yuzhi pouted charmingly, “The bust is too small for this dress. I can’t wrap myself in it.”
Yan: “Then change to a larger size.”
“The next size up is too loose around the waist. Is my chest too big?” Yuzhi said, walking up to Yan, pointing to her chest, “Is it?”
Yan immediately fled the dressing room and went outside the store for some fresh air.
She looked up at the sky, speechless, feeling that coming out with Yuzhi today was a mistake, a huge mistake.
The misunderstanding with Qinghan wasn’t resolved, and now Qinghan had seen her walking hand-in-hand with a “little sister.” Now someone was even asking her to look at their chest. What sins had she committed?
If I am guilty, the law should punish me, not make me share a dorm with a straight girl and demand that we be best friends.
Yuzhi finally gave up on that dress because of the bust size and bought everything else. Yan became the laborer, carrying over ten bags, with an arm still hooked by Yuzhi.
“Your Highness, I can’t carry the bags properly. Please don’t link your arm with mine anymore.”
Yuzhi pouted, “I don’t feel safe if I don’t hold your arm.”
Yan was speechless. She was dragged to an aristocratic Western restaurant with complex etiquette, and by the time they returned that night, she was exhausted and wanted to collapse on the bed.
“Yan Yan, I’m going to shower first.”
Yuzhi, wearing revealing sleepwear, leaned close to her. Her breath was right next to Yan’s ear as she spoke.
Yan instinctively moved away, offering a weary smile, “Please go ahead.”
Yuzhi giggled, holding the hem of her nightgown, “Do you want to shower together?”
“Please, have mercy!” Yan clasped her hands together, hoping Yuzhi would stop joking.
Yuzhi laughed even harder, walking with a graceful sway, her fair legs briefly visible.
After Yuzhi finished her shower, she informed Yan that the water was shut off in the dorm. “I told you to shower with me, but you wouldn’t. What do we do now?”
What do we do? What do we do??
Yan sprang up from the bed like a carp, grabbed her toiletries and pajamas, and walked out.
Fanyi was playing a game. Seeing her leave, she asked, “Where are you going?”
“To find somewhere to shower.”
Fanyi: “Oh. Then come back early. The lights are about to go out.”
Yan, of course, knew the lights were about to go out. That was the perfect opportunity.
A University had several girls’ dormitories. The ones on the south side occasionally had water outages, but the ones on the west side never did. Qinghan’s dorm happened to be on the west side.
With only half an hour until lights out, going now was perfect timing.
But would the Senior let her in?
Realizing this problem, Yan slowed her pace, walking hesitantly to the West Building.
Standing at the door of Qinghan’s dorm, Yan mustered her courage several times, but it wasn’t enough for her to knock.
After about a minute, the door opened from the inside. It was Qinghan’s roommate, Jing Fu.
“Classmate, can I help you?” she asked very gently.
Yan pointed to Qinghan behind her, slightly awkwardly, “I’m looking for Senior Qinghan.”
Jing gave her a look that said I understand, and pushed her inside. “I wish you both a pleasant evening! I’m leaving now. Bye!”
The door closed. Yan lowered her head, unsure of what to say, waiting for Qinghan to speak first.
Qinghan also remained silent, seemingly intentionally holding the deadlock with her.
The atmosphere fell silent. Yan felt increasingly uneasy and said with forced courage, “Senior, the water is off in our dorm. Can I take a shower here?”
Qinghan didn’t answer immediately. Instead, she walked a few steps closer, her eyes fixed on her intently.
“I thought you would be staying out tonight.”
Yan uttered an “Ah,” not understanding why she would say that.
Qinghan turned around, walked to her desk, and sat down, saying flatly, “Go ahead and wash. Keep an eye on the time. The lights are about to go out.”
Yan quickly nodded and walked into the bathroom, dawdling until the lights went out before she emerged.
“Senior, I’m so sorry. I accidentally took too long washing. The dorm main door is already locked. Can I sleep with you?”
Qinghan lived in a double room, so the bed was relatively large; there was no problem for one more person to sleep there.
Qinghan turned on the desk lamp and glanced at Yan in her pajamas. Her hair was half-dry, cascading down her back, all the way past her waist, black and shiny.
This was the first time she had seen Yan with her hair down. It looked a little different from her usual style, much more well-behaved and gentle.
“You sleep in my bed. I’ll sleep in Jing Fu’s.”
Yan knew Qinghan was a germaphobe, and this was already a compromise, but it didn’t feel good in her heart.
“Senior, you’re not used to sleeping in someone else’s bed, are you? It’s okay. I’ll just go back. I’ll beg the dorm supervisor. She should let me out.”
As she spoke, she took out the clothes she had changed out of, preparing to put them back on.
“Don’t bother. Just make do here for one night.”
The dorm supervisor here had a bad temper. If she knew Yan was running around so late, she would definitely write down her name and report her. It wasn’t worth getting a demerit for such a small matter.
Yan felt a surge of joy but remained composed. “Then where will you sleep, Senior?”
Qinghan didn’t answer. Yan found out when they went to bed: Qinghan was sleeping with her.
Yan felt both excited and nervous. It’s the first time sleeping in the same bed with the person I love. What should I do? Urgent, waiting online!
Qinghan was not as nervous as her. She slept casually with her back to Yan, and soon her steady breathing could be heard.
Yan’s wildly beating heart slowly calmed down. She softly called out Qinghan’s name, but the other party didn’t respond. So, she boldly wrapped her arms around her waist.
Next, she moved closer to Qinghan, pressing against her body, and buried her face in the back of her neck. “Senior, I truly like you. If I was a ‘Player’ before, I reformed after I met you.”
I own the entire ocean, but you are the only fish in it.
Qinghan had already woken up the moment Yan’s hand reached out, but she didn’t speak, wanting to see what she would do next.
She was surprised to hear those words. A strange emotion stirred in her heart, like something taking root and sprouting.
This was a dangerous sign. If left unchecked, it could lead to irreversible disaster.
Whether she was a ‘Player’ or not wasn’t just for her to say. Qinghan believed what she had seen with her own eyes—dating others in matching outfits, going out for candlelight dinners, and then coming to her to say ‘I like you.’ Is her ‘like’ that cheap?
Qinghan’s heart slowly cooled, and the excitement she had felt upon hearing the confession completely disappeared.
Yan smelled Qinghan’s pleasant scent and slowly drifted into sleep.
In her dream, someone seemed to say something to her, but she couldn’t hear clearly. As the voice faded away, the pain in her body became increasingly distinct.
…
Yan abruptly opened her eyes. The blue starry sky ceiling was above her—one that Qinghan had specially installed for her.
The spot next to her was empty, and the blanket was cool. It seemed Qinghan had been gone for a while.
A note was left on the nightstand, written by Qinghan. It said that the company had an urgent matter to deal with and that she would rush back before lunch.
Yan got out of bed and slowly walked into the bathroom. The bruises on her body were increasing, already starting to spread from her waist to her armpit.
Fortunately, we always sleep in dim light. Otherwise, Qinghan would have discovered it.
Qinghan’s breakfast was on the table, half-cold.
Yan had no appetite. She removed the wilted flowers from the table and replaced them with a fresh bouquet.
Flowers don’t stay vibrant forever, but there will always be new flowers to replace the old ones. After I die, will there be someone new by Qinghan’s side too?
“Isn’t that inevitable? What are you thinking?” She gave a self-mocking smile. The withered branches and leaves in her hand fell into the trash can.
Her phone suddenly rang, startling Yan. Looking at the caller ID, she hesitated.
It was Yuzhi Xia’s phone number. She didn’t want to answer it. The matter from back then caused a lot of trouble, and it was still…
