- Chapter 135 - Attending the Lecture [Extra]
“Why do I feel like the Professor isn’t feeling well today?” The economics class representative, sitting in the corner of the lecture hall, turned to ask the girl next to her.
Then, both simultaneously looked at Shen Jinrong (Professor Shen), who was lecturing with one hand propped on the podium and the other holding the microphone in the tiered classroom. They keenly noticed the hoarseness in her voice.
“Right? I feel like her voice is a bit hoarse,” the girl next to her nodded, whispering, “Did she catch a cold?”
“Do you think we should express our concern to the teacher?” The class representative rubbed her chin, starting to consider the matter.
Shen Jinrong (Professor Shen) had just returned from a very important meeting, still dressed in extremely formal attire. She was tall and slender, and the buttons of her shirt were neatly fastened all the way to the top, yet a section of her fair, long neck was still exposed. The hand holding the microphone had clearly defined knuckles, and her voice, due to the slight hoarseness, had a bit more magnetic quality than usual.
—This year’s students knew from the beginning of the semester that Professor Shen Jinrong (Professor Shen), who had just passed her thirties, was the most outstanding (and best-looking) professor recognized across the entire university. When the course schedule was first released, many seniors expressed envy, jealousy, and hatred toward them, even starting a trending thread on the campus forum: “Holy cow! It’s been two years! I still haven’t managed to get into Professor Shen’s class!!”
“The guy before me, don’t run! It’s been three years for me! I’m about to graduate, and Professor Shen is no longer teaching elective courses.”
“Same as above. I can only shamelessly audit the general course.”
“Am I the only one who appreciates Professor Shen’s talent? My God, her lectures are truly excellent, and she holds a significant position internationally.”
“Sorry, we’re superficial.”
“Superficial +10086.”
The class representative and her seatmate, sitting in the second-to-last row in the corner of the classroom, secretly whispered: “But I feel like Professor Shen definitely has a partner, maybe she’s even married.”
“No way, really?” The girl next to her was shocked: “You can tell that?”
“Look at the ring on her ring finger. She couldn’t have bought it for herself, right?” The class representative sighed: “Heartbroken, heartbroken.”
As they were secretly talking, the door behind them opened. The slightly old door made a “creak” sound, followed by a gust of cold air blowing in. Both shivered simultaneously.
The class representative quickly glanced back and saw a good-looking girl walk in. She was carrying a thermos cup and had a serious expression, looking like she was there for an inspection. The girl next to her quickly pulled her, and the class representative immediately turned her head, continuing to listen attentively to the lecture.
The good-looking girl then sat down behind them. The class representative heard a “thud” as she gently placed the thermos cup on the desk.
“She wouldn’t be here to audit the class, would she?” The two secretly texted each other.
“I don’t think so. I feel like I’ve seen her somewhere before. Maybe she’s here to inspect?”
After sending this message, the two dared not whisper anymore and continued to listen to Professor Shen’s lecture at the front.
About ten minutes later, the bell rang, signaling the end of the class. Professor Shen concluded by saying, “Class dismissed, class representative, please stay for a moment.”
Yan He raised an eyebrow. Just as she was about to pick up the thermos cup and stand up, she saw the young girl who had been sitting in front of her immediately rush over with her bag. Seeing the girl’s hurried actions, she wanted to laugh but held back.
Students continuously left through the back door behind her. Yan He sat there openly. By the time all the students had left, Shen Jinrong (Professor Shen) was still speaking with the class representative at the front.
Yan He looked down at the time and secretly pouted.
Seriously, it’s twelve o’clock. Are we eating or not!
The once noisy classroom quieted down after the dismissal bell, and even the scattered footsteps in the hallway almost completely disappeared. After another five minutes, Yan He tapped the desk with her index finger, finding that Professor Shen at the front was still speaking warmly with the class representative. She couldn’t sit still anymore.
Her Professor Shen hadn’t looked toward the back of the classroom at all.
Yan He sighed, picked up her thermos cup, walked down the steps, and stood beside Shen Jinrong’s (Professor Shen’s) class representative. Shen Jinrong (Professor Shen) was still saying something to her, occasionally turning her head to cover her mouth and cough lightly.
The class representative said, “Professor Shen, did you catch a cold?”
Shen Jinrong (Professor Shen) was slightly taken aback and smiled gently: “Yes.”
“Then please take care of yourself! And—I will arrange everything you instructed!” The class representative quickly finished her sentence, then swiftly glanced at the strange person who was Yan He, slung her backpack over her shoulder, and rushed off to the cafeteria to grab food.
Oh dear, I feel like she looks familiar somehow—where exactly have I seen her?
Only then did Shen Jinrong (Professor Shen) notice the person standing next to her. She turned her head while saying, “Do you have any questions, student?” but was met with the sight of Yan He, whose eyebrows were fully raised.
She burst into a laugh, stroked Yan He’s head, and asked, “What are you doing? Don’t you have class today?”
“I came right after my class ended, only to find our Professor Shen lecturing the students.” Yan He pouted: “She didn’t even see me.”
Shen Jinrong (Professor Shen) opened her mouth, but before she could speak, Yan He leaned against the podium, placed the thermos cup on the desk, and gestured with her lips: “Here, for our Professor Shen who has a cold.”
Mentioning the cold made Shen Jinrong’s (Professor Shen’s) face flush slightly. She picked up the book beside her and gently tapped Yan He’s head, saying with a tone of blame, “Whose fault is that? Is it my fault? Who insisted on moving in front of the window late at night? And then didn’t even close the window?”
Yan He’s expression became unnatural. She pushed the thermos cup on the desk toward Shen Jinrong (Professor Shen). Her earlier confident demeanor disappeared, and she whispered, “Well—well, didn’t I come here to apologize? It’s a white fungus, goji berry, and lily soup. I made it myself.”
As she spoke, she unscrewed the thermos cup and poured a cup lid full of the soup, handing it to Shen Jinrong (Professor Shen): “Drink some! I added a little honey. It won’t taste bad.”
Shen Jinrong (Professor Shen) took the cup lid, took a sip, and smiled: “It’s really great!” She laughed: “Our Chef Yan is becoming more and more skilled lately!”
Yan He proudly acknowledged this. She looked left and right, and seeing that they were alone, she deliberately said, “I say, you shouldn’t keep your class representative for so long next time. She won’t be able to grab the good food in the cafeteria now.”
Shen Jinrong (Professor Shen) blinked: “Alright, I’ll listen to you.”
“Everyone has left…” Yan He drew out the sound.
Shen Jinrong (Professor Shen) had no doubt: “It is a bit late. What do you want to eat for lunch? I don’t have class this afternoon. I can cook something delicious for you tonight.”
Saying this, she picked up her bag and was about to leave, but Yan He held her back. Shen Jinrong (Professor Shen) found it a bit strange: “Not leaving? Aren’t you hungry?”
“Are there surveillance cameras in the classroom?” Yan He suddenly asked this. She had never been to this teaching building; it was newly built during her first year of graduate school.
“They haven’t been powered on yet,” Shen Jinrong (Professor Shen) recalled what Professor Zhao had told her: “It seems there was a problem with the wiring recently.”
“Is that so—” Yan He looked around, then took a step closer, wrapped her arms around Shen Jinrong’s (Professor Shen’s) waist, leaned against her, and smiled: “Then no one will see us hugging?”
Shen Jinrong (Professor Shen) laughed, cupped Yan He’s face, and kissed her on the lips. While Yan He’s eyes widened in surprise, she leaned into her ear and whispered, “More than that?”
“No one will see us kissing either.”
Yan He was dizzy from the kiss. Her mind, in a daze, thought—Wait, wasn’t it—wasn’t it me who wanted to tease her first?
At the same time, the class representative, who was lining up in the cafeteria, suddenly slapped her head. She pulled out her phone and sent a message to the girl who had been sitting next to her: “Holy cow, holy cow, holy cow! I remember now! I knew that girl looked familiar!!!”
“Oh my God!!! That’s Yan He, the second-year graduate student from the Journalism Department!!!”
“Help, help, help! My goddesses are having a fantasy link-up!!!”
