What to Do If the White Moonlight Omega Falls in Love with Me - Chapter 7
At some point, the rain began to patter outside the window, its coolness slicing through the stifling heat of the summer night. It drummed fiercely against the windowsill, arriving with an unstoppable momentum.
Cha Yuxuan was the first to notice it.
She often found herself gazing out the window perhaps because of the picturesque scenery outside, or perhaps because the girl sitting by the window seemed to have stepped right out of a painting.
Yan Qingran’s seat was by the window.
She was focused while eating; in fact, she was focused in everything she did, as if detached from the world around her.
Is it raining?
She tilted her head to glance outside. The wind carried raindrops diagonally against the glass, where they shattered with a smack into tiny droplets, scattering in all directions.
It was indeed raining.
Excitedly, Cha Yuxuan called everyone over to watch the rain.
She loved rainy days, loved camellia trees just like her name, just like the scent of her perfume.
Yan Qingran’s seat offered the best view of the rain.
Jiang Xiaoping lifted her head from her meal and craned her neck to look. “It’s raining. Did any of you bring an umbrella?”
“Huh?” Cha Yuxuan snapped out of her rain-induced trance.
They exchanged glances. Yan Na gave a wry smile. “Probably none of us did. It was clear and sunny all day, not a single cloud in the sky. Who would’ve thought it would rain tonight?”
Yan Qingran’s expression remained as calm as ever. “It’s fine. I’ll make sure you all get back to the dorm.”
“Really? You promise, senior?” Jiang Xiaoping clasped her hands together, her eyes sparkling as she looked at Yan Qingran.
“Of course!” Yan Qingran averted her gaze slightly. “There’s a community umbrella station downstairs.”
“Oh!” Jiang Xiaoping nodded, then her tone shifted. “But what if they’re all taken?”
Just as Cha Yuxuan snapped back to attention, she caught this exchange. “If they’re all gone, it’s no problem. On our way here, I passed a small convenience store, it’s not far. They’re bound to have umbrellas for sale.”
Thankfully, she had a good sense of direction and a knack for remembering places.
Yan Qingran glanced up at her. “Mm.”
Cha Yuxuan narrowed her left eye, tilting her head slightly in a playful wink.
The piece of food Yan Qingran had just picked up slipped right back into her bowl.
She was utterly charmed.
Watching their interaction, Jiang Xiaoping’s internal antenna suddenly picked up a signal. “This is nice.”
The rain continued to fall.
But unconsciously, everyone began eating faster, speaking less.
Yan Qingran kept her head down, fully absorbed in her meal. The pork liver in the stew was tender and fresh, soaked in rich broth, releasing a deep, savory aroma with every bite. Few longtime Jingcheng locals could resist this dish.
Cha Yuxuan found herself glancing at the rain more often and every time she looked up, Yan Qingran was right there, close enough to touch.
Yan Qingran was captivating when she ate, though she probably didn’t realize it herself.
First, her posture: back straight, hair swept behind her, legs positioned neatly, leaning forward slightly only when bringing the bowl and chopsticks closer to eat.
Second, the way she held her chopsticks: thumb, index, and middle fingers controlling the two sticks, while her ring and pinky fingers rested beneath, providing firm support. The veins on the back of her hand seemed to be the source of her strength, winding distinctly between her tendons and bones.
Third, her eating manner: no matter what she was eating, she always took a small bite first, chewing it carefully before placing the rest into her mouth. Occasionally, while chewing, she would lick her lips or gently bite the tip of her tongue.
At first glance, it seemed a bit rigid, like a textbook demonstration of the proper posture for eating, but upon closer inspection, it felt full of ritual and was quite pleasing to the eye.
Chá Yǔxuàn found it quite novel.
At 7:45, the first meal of her university life came to an end.
After finishing…
Yán Qīngrán rose gracefully, placed her tray and leftovers on the recycling cart, pulled a pack of tissues from her pants pocket, took one out, wiped her mouth, folded it, wiped her hands, and then tossed it into the trash with a perfect arc.
Turning around, she caught sight of Chá Yǔxuàn, who had eaten like a little kitten with a messy face. Suppressing her urge to tidy her up, Yán Qīngrán stared at her for a few seconds.
Chá Yǔxuàn remained completely unaware of her gaze, her eyes wandering around as if searching for something.
Unable to hold back any longer, Yán Qīngrán handed over the pack of tissues she was holding. “Need a tissue?”
“Thank you.”
It was like receiving charcoal in snowy weather just when Chá Yǔxuàn was looking for a tissue, Yán Qīngrán had offered one right to her.
Once cleaned up, she was a tidy little kitten again. A slight smile curved her lips. “You’re welcome.”
“Let’s go downstairs.”
Yán Qīngrán glanced out the window. The rain was still falling, but the clouds had thinned out.
As expected, the love heart umbrella rack downstairs was empty. The group of five lingered for a while at the cafeteria entrance.
Chá Yǔxuàn looked at the rain, then scanned her slightly anxious roommates. “I’ll go buy an umbrella from the supermarket.”
The senior was wearing a white shirt, it wouldn’t be good if it got wet.
Jiāng Xiàopíng tugged at her. “Don’t go. Let’s wait here for the rain to stop. Getting caught in the rain could make you catch a cold.”
Yān Nà peered into the distance and chimed in, “Yeah, let’s wait a bit. If the rain doesn’t stop, we can reconsider.”
Yán Qīngrán was still watching the rain, standing by the edge of the doorway, gazing up at the sky. The drifting raindrops threatened to land on her.
She was so focused, as if she were about to merge into the boundless curtain of rain.
“It’s fine!” Chá Yǔxuàn fixed her eyes in one direction. “The supermarket is close. I’ll be quick and won’t get wet.”
Yán Qīngrán paid no attention to their conversation.
A figure brushed past her and dashed into the rain. She caught a glimpse of a familiar pink hoodie.
“Wait.”
Yán Qīngrán took two quick steps forward, grabbed her, and pulled her back. “The rain won’t last much longer. It’ll stop soon.”
Chá Yǔxuàn stumbled from the pull, unsteady on her feet, and staggered backward several steps, crashing into Yán Qīngrán’s embrace. A faint, delicate fragrance mixed with the scent of rain washed over her.
She froze for a moment, clutching Yán Qīngrán’s sleeve. “Oh.”
Silly goose…
Yán Qīngrán pressed her lips together, released her wrist, and guided her by the shoulders back under the eaves. “The clouds are about to break, and the rain is letting up. It’ll stop in just a few minutes.”
“What if it doesn’t stop?”
Chá Yǔxuàn heard herself ask the foolish question aloud.
Yán Qīngrán smiled, brushing the raindrops from her hair and clothes. “It will.”
Her tone carried unwavering confidence.
Bǎi Háng secretly snapped a photo of her profile with her phone. No filter or editing was needed just a simple focus produced a portrait-level beauty that struck with stunning impact.
She simply couldn’t resist she was absolutely sold on the “Chá-Yán” pairing.
Buzz, buzz, buzz Yán Qīngrán’s phone vibrated in her pocket.
“I need to take this call.”
She stepped aside.
With Yán Qīngrán gone, the four roommates huddled together, chattering animatedly.
Yanna clenched her fists over her chest. “The senior is so beautiful. I declare her my goddess now.”
Bai Hang glanced at her. “She’s been ranked first on the school’s goddess list since she enrolled. This is her third year holding the title.”
Jiang Xiaoping looked envious. “Her legs are so long, and her skin is so fair.”
Cha Yuxuan wasn’t the type to fawn over others, but she couldn’t help adding, “Her hands are lovely too.”
All three turned to look at her. Bai Hang suddenly grinned and covered her mouth.
Lesbians always notice hands first, they pay more attention to hands than faces.
Cha Yuxuan blinked, confused. “What? Aren’t the senior’s hands nice?”
Jiang Xiaoping circled her and pinched her cheek. “So young and innocent. You don’t get it, do you? Bai Hang, tone down that grin, don’t corrupt the kid.”
Cha Yuxuan shook off her hand, pretending to be annoyed. “What’s that supposed to mean? I’m almost an adult, you know.”
Yanna pinched her other cheek. “Hehe, until you present, you’re still a kid.”
Since Cha Yuxuan hadn’t presented yet, the college had temporarily assigned her to a beta girls’ dorm. All her roommates had already presented.
“Stop it, stop it.!” Cha Yuxuan dodged her roommates’ playful attacks. “Once I present, I’ll treat you all to meals with pretty alpha sisters. A different one every day.”
Bold words.
Right after saying that, she sneezed. Turning around, she noticed Yan Qingran glancing in their direction, her dark eyes carrying a hint of coldness. Cha Yuxuan quickly hugged herself, startled.
“Deal!”
Jiang Xiaoping was the first to agree. “Make sure they’re pretty and have long legs.”
Cha Yuxuan: “Okay, okay.”
Yanna made a heart shape with her hands. “I want someone cool and a bit aloof.”
Cha Yuxuan: “I’ll try my best.”
Bai Hang stayed silent for a moment. “I want someone prettier than Yan Qingran.”
Cha Yuxuan rolled her eyes. “We’re not even back in the dorm yet, and you’re already dreaming.”
“Hahaha…”
Yan Qingran returned after her phone call just as the rain stopped.
Water droplets dripped from the eaves, splashing into puddles and creating ripples. Tiny beads of water slid along leaf veins, dropping onto other leaves, gathering momentum before plopping into the grass below, startling insects that shook off the moisture from their heads.
She let out a sigh; the phone call seemed to have left her in a sour mood. “Let’s go. I’ll walk you back to your dorm.”
Jiang Xiaoping quickly declined, “No need, we know the way. You should head back first, Senior.”
Pedestrians who had taken shelter from the rain were emerging again. The streetlights flickered before settling back into their dim glow, and a slow-moving patrol car with flashing warning lights approached.
“Alright, then be careful on your way back and get to the dorm early.”
Yan Qingran trusted the campus security, and she did have some matters to attend to.
Cha Yuxuan gave her a reassuring look. “Don’t worry.”
Yan Qingran nodded and checked the time 8 p.m.
She stepped onto the path.
Yanna hesitated for a moment. “Senior, could we add your contact info?”
“Of course.”
Yan Qingran pulled up the QR code for her work-related WeChat account. “Here you go.”
The three happily scanned the code, sent friend requests, and waved goodbye.
Yan Qingran nodded in acknowledgment, watching as they walked away.
Only Cha Yuxuan looked puzzled, wondering why the profile picture on this QR code was different from the one she had added earlier today.
