What to Do If the White Moonlight Omega Falls in Love with Me - Chapter 42
When Cha Yuxuan returned to the dormitory after lunch, she had a smile on her face and was humming a little tune. Her mood was clearly excellent. Yun Qi looked at her as if she were a monster and asked, “Did Yan Qingran give you some kind of magic potion again?”
“No,” Cha Yuxuan replied, only then remembering she hadn’t shared the good news yet. “Yan Qingran has already broken off the engagement. She is officially single now.”
Yun Qi was suspicious. “That fast? Could it be a stalling tactic?”
Cha Yuxuan was confident. “Don’t worry, Yan Qingran isn’t that kind of person. The fact that she took the initiative to tell me about the engagement proves she doesn’t intend to lie to me.”
Yun Qi was stunned. “Then you two?”
Cha Yuxuan gave a soft hum of affirmation. “It’s the same as before.”
The same as before? Yun Qi narrowed her eyes and thought about it. Hadn’t they been together for a long time? But based on what Cha Yuxuan was saying now, they weren’t actually “together” yet? She had been wrong all along. Could it be that they had never actually broken the ice and spoken clearly about their feelings?
Thinking of this, Yun Qi was startled. “Did Yan Qingran confess to you? Has she actually expressed her feelings?”
“Uh,” Cha Yuxuan’s face turned red. Under Yun Qi’s intense gaze, she spoke somewhat shyly. “I was the one who took the lead.”
Yun Qi pressed further. “Then how did she answer?”
Seeing Yun Qi’s expression, Cha Yuxuan guessed her concern. She furrowed her brows. “Even though she hasn’t said those specific words out loud, I know her heart. Besides, I have her wrapped around my finger, so you don’t need to worry.”
At this point, Cha Yuxuan smiled and briefly told Yun Qi about what happened at Yan Qingran’s house last weekend. Of course, she omitted certain details that might be bad for Yan Qingran’s image, such as the little “toys” hidden in the cabinet drawer.
Yun Qi’s eyes lit up. She stared at the blushing Cha Yuxuan with the gaze of a cat that had just found a treat. “Hehe, what does it feel like to be marked?”
“Uh,” the tips of Cha Yuxuan’s ears turned bright red, and the color spread to her neck. She stammered for a long time without saying anything before shyly pushing Yun Qi away. “Go find an Alpha of your own and try it, then you’ll know.”
“I haven’t found one yet, have I?” Yun Qi’s eyes darted around as she pushed the topic back. “What does President Yan’s pheromone smell like?”
Cha Yuxuan gave her a wary look. “Go smell it yourself.” She definitely wasn’t going to tell her that.
Yun Qi giggled again, rubbing her chin with a slightly apprehensive look. “Does it hurt when you get marked?”
Cha Yuxuan bit her lower lip. “It hurts a little at first, but then it becomes very comfortable.”
Recalling the day she was marked, she remembered Yan Qingran’s sharp canine teeth sinking deep into her gland. The piercing pain had almost made her forget to breathe. But immediately after, the massive surge of Alpha pheromones made the pain vanish, replaced by a trembling in every cell of her body, as if she were meant to surrender to that overbearing scent.
“Tsk, tsk, tsk.”
Yun Qi’s eyes were glowing. For someone who read a lot of “Cha-Yan” fanfiction, that sentence alone was enough for her to get lost in the scenario. She wondered if it happened on the sofa, the bed, or in the bathroom.
As she imagined it, a trace of drool escaped the corner of her mouth. Cha Yuxuan froze for a moment, her face turning a deep crimson. she pulled out several tissues and slapped them onto Yun Qi’s face. “What on earth are you thinking about?”
Yun Qi snapped out of it, catching the tissues to wipe her mouth. She looked at Cha Yuxuan with a mixture of embarrassment and guilt. “Nothing.”
Cha Yuxuan rubbed her forehead. “Stop reading those fanfics about me and Yan Qingran.”
Ever since she discovered the school forum, although she didn’t post much, she would occasionally take a look. After stumbling upon one “Cha-Yan” story, the forum homepage kept recommending them to her endlessly.
Yun Qi was stunned. She had always thought Cha Yuxuan didn’t know she was a “shipper.” She didn’t expect her to not only know but even bring up the fanfiction, which was what she feared most. After all, she was the one who had written many of those stories on the forum.
Seeing her dazed expression, Cha Yuxuan added with a blush, “I read one, and it was written so… so ridiculous. It’s not realistic at all.”
As for it being too “adult” or violent, she couldn’t bring herself to say it. Every time she saw her own name in those stories, she felt so awkward she kept wanting to drink water.
Seeing her friend’s serious yet embarrassed face, Yun Qi couldn’t help but burst out laughing. “Hahaha!”
Cha Yuxuan immediately covered her mouth. “Stop laughing, I’m serious.”
Yun Qi nodded like a little chick pecking at grain to show she understood. Only then did Cha Yuxuan remove her hand, muttering, “I don’t know who Photoshopped those pictures. I better not catch them, or they’ll be in trouble.”
Yun Qi froze. Many of the images used in those stories came from her and Bai Hang. Since she was close to Cha Yuxuan and lived in the same dorm, taking candid photos was easy. She laughed nervously, pretending to know nothing. “It’s just because you and the senior are too good-looking. People can’t help but take photos and post them online, and then people with bad intentions edit them.”
Cha Yuxuan spoke with a mix of speechlessness and complaint. “I’m right here; it’s not like I’m going to disappear. Is it necessary to point a camera at me every day?”
She knew she wasn’t a world-class beauty like Yan Qingran, but her features were good, she had a small head, and her body proportions were excellent, making her very photogenic. People took secret photos of her every day on the way to class or even while she was eating. Although she was used to it, talking about it still made her uncomfortable.
Yun Qi patted her shoulder solemnly. “There’s no way around it. This is the weight of beauty. Once you put it on, you can’t take it off.”
The two of them chatted until the lunch break vanished. They didn’t even have time for a nap before rushing to their afternoon classes. For Cha Yuxuan, the two afternoon classes were extremely boring: Ethics and Basic Computer Culture.
Yawning and listening to the teacher’s hypnotic voice, her head, propped up by her hand, kept dropping. She would jerk awake every time her chin hit the rough pages of her book.
So boring, Cha Yuxuan thought as she glanced around. Everyone else was in a similar state. A few people in the back were fast asleep, and those who weren’t were relying on their phones to stay alive.
She played on her phone aimlessly for a while and marked some key points in her book. Time passed slowly until the setting sun finally began to shine through the window. The golden light bathed her face, bringing a touch of warmth that dispelled the slight chill of sitting in the classroom for so long.
The light was a bit dazzling, and the chalk writing on the blackboard became hard to see because of the reflection. Many people held up their notebooks to block the sun, but Cha Yuxuan squinted and looked toward the light. She felt as if she were back in military training, when Yan Qingran would always walk onto the field against the sunset, with her back straight and her usual lazy expression.
With a rustle, the sunlight was blocked by thick curtains. Seeing everyone distracted by the sunset, the teacher asked the students by the window to pull them shut. The classroom fell into dimness until the students in the front row quickly turned on the lights. Fluorescent light replaced the sun, bringing brightness back to the room.
Cha Yuxuan’s gaze returned to her book, but her thoughts drifted far away.
The bell finally rang, sounding like a lifeline. People around her began packing their things. Cha Yuxuan stood up, quickly gathered her belongings, slung her backpack over her shoulder, and followed the crowd downstairs.
The hallway was crowded and filled with various smells. Cha Yuxuan discreetly covered her nose and mouth as a student with a strong scent of sweat pushed past her.
The crowd moved slowly down the stairs until Cha Yuxuan finally reached the main hall of the building. It was finally less crowded and stifling. Through the transparent glass, she could easily see the people passing by outside, as well as a large empty space where Yan Qingran stood holding a bouquet of roses.
Cha Yuxuan’s gaze lingered on the blood-red petals, and a slight smile appeared on her lips. The frustration from the crowded staircase vanished completely.
Yan Qingran only had one class that afternoon. She had gone home to change into formal clothes and was wearing full makeup. Her bright red lip glaze made her look even more strikingly handsome. The upward flick of her eyeliner seemed to match the curve of her smile, making her so beautiful it took one’s breath away.
Step by step, Cha Yuxuan lowered her head slightly to avoid Yan Qingran’s bold, burning gaze—she had seen Yan Qingran, and Yan Qingran had naturally seen her.
This person, giving flowers like it’s a confession, it makes me so nervous, she thought with a bit of trepidation and excitement.
Yan Qingran’s hand, which was holding the roses, was wrapped in several layers of bandages to hide the scabs on her palm. Sweat from her nervousness soaked the bandages. She swallowed hard, keeping her eyes fixed on that approaching figure.
Students who weren’t in a hurry stood nearby to watch, whispering in small groups. Many people knew Yan Qingran and remembered the dance she and Cha Yuxuan had performed during military training.
As Cha Yuxuan walked out of the building, several curious people followed her. Yan Qingran took a step forward and held out the flowers. However, all the romantic words she had prepared in her head vanished in an instant. She froze for half a second and simply stayed silent.
“Thank you.” After taking the flowers, Cha Yuxuan held them with one hand and leaned in for a quick sniff. Then, with a smile, she took Yan Qingran’s hand and leaned in to plant a kiss on her cheek. Yan Qingran snapped back to reality, squeezed her hand, and led her through the crowd as if this were perfectly normal for them.
The sound of envious onlookers rose all around them. Many people thought it was a confession, but it turned out they were already together.
The professor who taught Yan Qingran foreign architectural history happened to pass by and saw this. He smiled as he walked past. “You don’t forget to study even while dating. You are the role models for college romance; I think everyone should learn from you.”
The voice wasn’t loud, but it was very impactful. The “murderous” glares of many surrounding students fell upon the pair. Cha Yuxuan’s mouth twitched as she nodded in agreement. “Studying is the most important thing,” she said insincerely.
The professor nodded with satisfaction and walked away with his lesson plan bag.
